A traumatic experience for a hotel in a very good location. We were booked for 10 days and every day we went to the reception to have the room cleaned better after we were forced to go to the nearby super market to buy bleach and cleaning products so we could sleep comfortably. The towels were stained with coffee marks. That private pool that we had before the same unclean…and as for breakfast, omelets and scrambled eggs every day, and the reason is because the hotel has rented the restaurant to a private person. We were completely disappointed after a long trip coming from Greece!!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and overall, the experience was very disappointing. The only positives: the air conditioning worked, and the restaurant was excellent — with amazing staff and very generous portions. Honestly, my stars go only to the restaurant staff. Everything else needs serious improvement, from the reception to the rest of the hotel: • Constant presence of lizard droppings in the room (on the beds, in the shower), with no prior warning. We had to cover all our belongings with sheets — unacceptable. • Questionable cleanliness. • Drinking water is charged, even though it should be included and replenished daily as in most hotels. • The pool water is clearly not changed or properly maintained. • There was also a power and water outage, and the hotel gave no explanation or compensation — only vague answers, leaving guests frustrated. In summary, there were far more negatives than positives. I left disappointed and I do not recommend this hotel.

I came to Maya Tulum in late October and had an amazing experience! I had a stunning ocean view, the room service is quick, kind staff, and the food was good and affordable. I came during low season so it was quite peaceful and the beaches were never crowded.

Pros - they upgraded my room from a jungle to ocean view upon checking in, they are extremely quick to respond via WhatsApp, the front desk (Coco) was very helpful on getting to places and what's worth walking vs a taxi, the Spa worked out a great deal for 1 hour massage due to low season, the Servers at the pool restaurant were great. The pool, when cleaned, was nice. ||Cons - The smell upon check in was horrid, smelt of rotten eggs from the sargassum, in fact the entire resort smelt of it and the beach was not accessible due to the sargassum (they don't clean it up here, they let it rot on the beach), the room was nice but if you prefer a VERY cold room, this isn't it. The small A/C unit plus the fan kept the room around 70 even though the A/C said 66. The Spa/massage rooms do not have A/C only a fan, so you sweat a bit throughout the massage. The only way to communicate with the front desk is via WhatsApp. The one time I asked the front desk to get into town, they told me to walk and the walk was 20 minutes and not safe. It's VERY EXPENSIVE to get a taxi here in Tulum as Uber isn't allowed. The 10 min from dinner back was $15 USD. They allow pets at this place and two were just running wild, one was a Doodle Mix and one was a Rott. One jumped in the pool and no one stopped them or did anything & I felt it was gross. Upon check out, they make you wait for someone to look at your room to ensure nothing was used from the fridge until they let you leave, so allow time for that. The water did stop working for 2 hours one day, not sure if that happens here often or not.||Overall, I was there 2 nights and it was OK. I'd suggest staying closer in the Hotel Zone and skipping this place, preferably one without dogs running wild, a cleaner beach and nicer pool.

We were lucky that we managed to get 3 great days/nights of weather in September, but other than beautiful weather, not much good to report. We turned up at 2:50pm for a 3pm check in and told we would have to wait an hour. We had our booking confirmation at 11am that morning, so the desk staff response that you only just booked was invalid! And IMO, rude considering the way she delivered the statement! Then We were given the wrong room! A twin not a queen, as per the booking/reservation! At this point, I was too hot and sweaty to care! Then for three days we had power cuts! How a place like this does not have a backup generator, astounds me! Now usually you can blame it on the weather! But we had 4 beautiful days and 3 calm nights. The restaurant has great staff, but I’ve seen better soup kitchens in hostels for the homeless. All in, not on my list to return ever. But horses for course and different strokes for different folks. PS: An issue that is super important to bring up was the unhealthy state of the private jacuzzi/pool. It clearly had been urinated in many times, and the water actually stung my chaffing on my legs! This reaction did not happen in the swimming pool, so I knew there was an issue with the private pool/jacuzzi

If you have a good deal , go for it ! Nice and picturesque view from the beach (some sunbeds are not in their best conditions tho). Resto is good with great service and the room we had was very spacious. Maybe it needs renovation from here and there . But overall is great quality/price

I really enjoyed my stay the Maya hotel. The pool was clean, there were a lot of seaweed in September but the view was still magical. Don’t hesitate to rent bikes because it’s a little far from the big Tulum nightlife and restaurants, but you will enjoy if you want something calmer. The spa is very good and the breakfasts are excellent. Pedro, the waiter, is a wonderful host and will make your stay even nicer with his smile and good recommendations of the city. You never feel rushed to consume something during the day around the pool with Pedro. You might get a little lizard in your room when it rains, that’s the only downside but I told the reception and they came to remove it.

Great hotel, very helpful staff, clean room and good location. Living close to the water can mean seaweed issues but such is life. I recommend it if you want a decent hotel next to the ocean and rent bikes/scooters to go around Tulum.
