Mayan Beach garden is our oasis from the cold winters where we live. we go every year like clock work and enjoy our time there immensely! The staff are friendly, helpful, hard working and kind, Marcia and Kim go out of their way to be helpful and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The food is absolutely delicious-every meal is wonderful! I can say enough good things about Mayan Beach Garden. ||DO NOT be fooled by the recent reviewer who said to stay away. We were there while she was there. She was a terrible guest who didn’t lock her door and refused to use the safe in her room. She yelled at people constantly when she was unhappy about something and refused to keep her dog on a leash even after frequent requests by the owners and other guests. She was the one bad thing that happened on our three week stay.

It's difficult to define serenity topped off by perfection. I've been here many times over the last dozen years or so. The following attributes are constant. Owners are on site and they " get it". The food is always great ...freshly made from local ingredients. Try their homemade coconut ice cream from their own trees. Or their coffee . Every meal starts with the house chips ( warm of course) beans and salsa. The entrees are simply devine. The accomodations have full kitchens and AC. Did I mention they deliver coffee to your room every morning ? The location is paradise. Surrounded by hundreds of square miles of jungle and steps from the sea. No noise except nature. Marcia and Kim the owners have put together paradise.

I don't do repeats in travel, yet I find myself coming back to Mayan Beach Gardens time and again. The proprietors, Marcia and Kim effortlessly make us all feel like family. The serene tranquility and peace at MBG is unparalleled. The food, the attentiveness of the amazing staff, the snorkeling, the appointment of delightful studios will always make this place the home of my heart. If I could give it more stars, I would.

We loved it here. Very relaxed, chill place to stay. Everyone who we met either staying here or visiting for food was so interesting! Community feel. Marcia and Kim (the owners) and their staff were great! We ended up with more rainy days so the ocean wasn't ideal for snorkeling, but I can tell it would be really good when the visibility is better! We saw turtles, tarpon, reef fish, and rays. We enjoyed walking the beach and roads and looking for birds. There is a lot of trash that washes up on the beach, we picked up several bags while we were there. I'd encourage everyone who is able to do the same! The screened porches are nice so you can sit outside and not worry about mosquitos. We went shopping and brought some food with us, but we probably didn't need to as the dinners and breakfasts were very yummy and we had leftovers. Marcia helped set us up with a taxi which worked great, but next time we will probably try to rent a car to have more independence. Town is about a 35 min drive. 4 wheel drive would be nice but not required, there are a lot of potholes/puddles on the beach road which is to be expected. We went to town for diving, and went on a birding/Mayan ruins tour with Victor at Mahaual Ecotours who I'd recommend as well! We'll be back :)

Amazing place, great hosts and facilities, attentive and pleasant staff. Very good food including accomodations of dietary needs, great advice and local contacts, very comfortable rooms right on the beach, excellent swimming snorkeling and fishing, great birdwatching. Have visited multiple times and will be back. Off grid low key luxury in a rather remote spot

If you want to visit Mahuhual & have a respite & unplug.....this is the place. We stayed in the stand alone casita & it was perfect...large screened in porch with hammocks & adirondacks....we spent just as much time there as we did on the beach. The view was gorgeous & it was so tranquil. B'fast was included-highly recommend chilaquiles verde with eggs over easy & the pancakes. We left feeling refreshed. If you want to be away from cruise ships, this is it!

Visited the restaurant only on Pizza night. Amazing gluten free/regular crust pizzas served in a screened porch within tropical gardens. Beautiful artwork and mosiac tiles designed by the owners can be seen thru out the property. And they are very gracious hosts! It's worth the trip down the bumpy road.

We cannot recommend this place enough!! Spent three wonderful nights with Marcia and Kim who are a lovely American couple and their incredibly friendly staff. There are very few people in this hidden gem and only a handful more on the neighboring homestays… there’s not much to do other than snorkeling and walking or reading on the beach, which was awesome. The homecooked meals for breakfast and dinner are delicious and in the evening everyone sat together to talk or play darts. Everything is tidy and the rooms are equipped with a kitchen, which we didn’t use. The sea is Cristal blue and there are only small waves. The beach right in front of the hotel was well taken care off by the staff so there was only little sea grass and no trash - this looks different for the other parts of the beach to the right but shouldn’t impact you during your stay.
