35 Best Restaurants in Mexico City for Birria, Ceviche, and Tacos | Condé Nast Traveler

"Under-the-radar in a neighborhood chock full of restaurants and bars, Maza Bistrot operates quietly but distinctly. The high-end of restaurants in Mexico City has been dominated by Mexican and Mediterranean-leaning concepts for a decade: what works is often a copy of the old. Maza Bistrot brings new flavors—via India—in a boxy space with tall ceilings and amber lighting. The food is the main event here. While a few French touchstones are sprinkled throughout (onion soup with a touch of cumin; buttery escargot served with naan; mussels with rasam) Chanana transports you to the streets and home kitchens of northwestern Indian. There's biryani baked under pastry en croute, a Mumbai-style slider with squishy housemade buns holding spiced potato; pakoras, curries, and raj kachori are well-calibrated and delicious, showered in crunchy bits, sauces, seeds, and herbs. There are a few Indian desserts like kulfi, gulab jamun, and a crepe. Mexico City needs more restaurants like this." - Scarlett Lindeman, Naomi Tomky

An Unmissable Gem for Indian Cuisine in CDMX As someone from India, I usually steer clear of Indian restaurants while traveling—there’s always a fear of disappointment. But after a week in CDMX, my colleagues convinced me to try this place, and I’m so glad I gave in. The food here genuinely rivals some of the best Indian restaurants back home. Rohan and his team have created something truly special. The bhel puri was a flavor bomb—crunchy, tangy, and beautifully balanced. The beetroot cutlet (I’m forgetting the exact name) was the real showstopper—I could’ve easily eaten a second round, but I was too tempted to explore more of the menu. The almond korma chicken tasted like a cherished family recipe—rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying. It instantly transported me back home. What made the experience even more memorable was the passion with which Rohan explained each dish. His attention to detail and love for Indian cuisine truly shone through—I walked away not just full, but also having learned something new. Highly, highly recommend this place. If you want a real taste of Indian food—crafted with care and bursting with flavor—you’ll find it here. I know I’ll be back every time I visit Mexico City. Thank you, Rohan and team, for bringing a slice of home halfway across the world.

We ate here on a whim and were blown away at how good the food was. I had the lamb biryarni. It was one of the meals that make you chew slower and just enjoy. Baked in a crust and served with yogurt and a spicy sauce to adjust the heat as needed. My wife had curry du jour, a yellow with dhal. Both had rich, subtle flavors that exceeded our expectations.

One of new my favorite spots in cdmx. You must get the Behl Puri…unmissable dish!! Everything we tried was executed perfectly. Flavors are complex but in total harmony, textures are surprising and fun. A huge thank you to the owners for such generous service from the soul! We will be back ❤️

I loved it!!! The best Indian food I’ve had in Mexico, I’m a big fan of Indian food and this was way beyond my expectations, it is very authentic and full of flavour. I didn’t try the French food on the menu but will definitely be returning soon to try the rest of the menu. A person highlight for me was the Frankie Roll

A Hidden Indo-French Gem You Shouldn’t Miss This cozy little restaurant is a celebration of flavors, passion, and cross-cultural magic. This place is a true labor of love — and you can taste it in every bite. The menu is small, but every dish is thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor. The fusion of Indian spices and French techniques makes for a unique and unforgettable dining experience. What sets this spot apart is the warmth and passion of the team. They don’t just serve food — they tell you about it: the ingredients, the inspiration, the cooking method. It’s like being invited into someone’s home where food is the language of love. If you find yourself in this part of town and crave Indian flavors with a French twist, don’t think twice. This place is a must-visit.

Excellent food and service. The meal was absolutely delicious and the staff were all very friendly. I highly recommend it. Up in Tijuana we have only one Indian restaurant to choose from. In San Diego there are some good ones, but this one in Mexico City was the best I've had so far. Very unique fusion of French and Indian cuisine. What a great idea! By the way we tried the local suadero taco joint our waiter recommended, and all I have to say is, you NEED to visit Tijuana. Come stop up and try some real tacos in TJ, and a Caesar Salad! It was great meeting everyone. Thank you! -Your friends, Experience Ibogaine

Fantastic place. Rohan is so friendly and thoughtful. He thoroughly explains the thought process behind the food and each dish. The tandoori chicken is amazingly tender. Everything was delicious.

Amazing delicious Indian-French fusion restaurant. I've been here three times because I absolutely find their dishes unique, fresh, and scrumptious. The waiters are super attentive, kind, and passionate about the food they serve. I've never tasted a mango lassi like theirs before. And their entrées are simply delightful.
