MB Ramen serves up tasty and affordable food, in a very casual and cozy environment. Surrounded by comic book memorabilia and jojo's bizarre adventure playing on tv, we started off with some of their pork belly bao buns. I thought the ingredients were all good, and especially liked the thinly sliced cucumber, but found there to be a bit too much pickled onion for my liking. For dinner I got their signature "MB Ramen:" a ramen bowl with savory pork broth, char siu pork, a marinated egg with a deliciously jammy center, scallions, marinated mushrooms, nori, and garlic oil on top. It all tasted great, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. A cold Sapporo beer perfectly complemented this savory and rich soup too.
The only downside to this place is the extremely long wait and rather rushed service- all due to an inadequate amount of seating. When we showed up early (6:30) on a freezing Saturday night, we were seated immediately at the end of the bar next to the door. These were the only available seats in the restaurant. For the whole time we were there, the door right next to me kept opening to let in cold air, people picking up takeout, and other disgruntled people looking for a table but finding a 30 minute wait. The waiter was very polite, but he asked us if we were ready to order 3 times in no more than 10 minutes, and started to clear my bowl away when I wasn't finished eating.
Although these parts of my experience weren't great, I have to give credit where it's due. The owners are clearly making the absolute most out of such a tiny space, with their very efficient takeout and delivery system, and staff who immediately address, seat, and serve customers, prompting more turnover and revenue. I really like this place, and understand why they run it the way they do. I just wish they would expand or move to a bigger place, where customers and staff could finally sit back to enjoy the chill comic book vibes and delicious ramen.
