3 Best Day Trips from Portland, Maine: Ogunquit, Freeport, and the Kennebunks | Condé Nast Traveler

"Even if they didn't have one of the most buzzed-about burgers in New England (the $26 Kobe burger has its own, very committed following), co-owners and James Beard Award-winning chefs Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier would be packing the house on the strength of the rest of their chic bistro menu. While the waves crash and roll just outside the expansive windows you'll be dining on Maine chowder with haddock, clams, hominy corn cake, and smoky tomato butter or the delectable, sweet-tart duck confit with peach-lemongrass sauce and tamarind." - Alexandra Hall

Great restaurant with good service and food. Everything was delicious and served at the proper temperature. There is a wait between ordering and getting served but it was worth the wait. A little pricey but to be expected because of the location. There adults and three young kids and the bill was just over $300.

Beautiful view. The restaurant was very cozy and the staff very friendly. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the lobster as well as the crab and shrimp fritters.

When I walked in the door, I said wow the view of the ocean is incredible. When you sit down every table has a great view. The staff was extremely accommodating, offering a lot of assistance and patience for ordering. The food was amazing. I had the burger, smoky bacon. Excellent my sister had the lobster roll. There was not one bite of food left on anybody’s plate. Thank you for an incredible lunch.

Great experience at M.C Perkins Cove for lunch today. Food was incredible, the view was spectacular, and the staff were so kind and attentive to us the whole time. Highly recommend for a quick bite!

Exceptional dining with oceanfront views of the Maine coast. Locally sourced, crafted cocktails. Very perfect. My scallop dish looked like the sea

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at MC Perkins, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Our waiter, Joseph, was outstanding, and both the food and the view were truly exceptional. The halibut was the best I’ve ever had—absolutely delicious! MC Perkins is such a special gem in our beautiful town of Ogunquit, tucked away in scenic Perkins Cove. A heartfelt thank you to Dana, Javier, and Joseph for making our anniversary celebration so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

We just celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary at M. C. Perkins Cove. We were quickly seated at a corner table with a beautiful view of the ocean. The service was friendly, polite, prompt and professional. We each had the Maine Chowder and the Lobster Roll, both were absolutely delicious. This was truly a 5 STAR experience. Congratulations to you and your and you staff.

Yelp
A very elegant restaurant located right on the water. View is spectacular. We came for the Mother's Day special and it was very crowded but the service was prompt and professional. Parking, or lack thereof, was the only drawback.

Yelp
***UPDATE*** WOW. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this restaurant would respond in this way. Rather than try and make amends or make things right, they decide to take it up a notch. If you don't like critiques, this isn't the right industry for you. 1. We were not late. I arrived at 6:50 for a 6:45 reservation after calling the host to let them know parking was impossible. I would NEVER be late without calling a restaurant. 2. We would never mistreat a service professional. Ever. It is not our job to smile the entire time- but I do believe that it is a service professional's job to smile and be pleasant. 3. If you mess up an order- it is not 'on you'- it is a mistake. That needs to be replaced free of charge. If you mess the replacement up- same rule applies. 4. We did make clear that we wanted a new Foie- not the same one heated up. As heating up a cold Foie is not going to go well. (See below...) 5. Most importantly our server, the owner, Dana, was actually the miserable person in this relationship. From beginning to end. She never smiled or welcomed us to her restaurant. She was the hostile entity- spilling wine all over the table in an aggressive manner because she didn't get her way. We should feel like we are being welcomed into your home, not your machine. 6. We never yelled. We never threatened. We communicated our needs and feelings honestly and you failed spectacularly at meeting this very basic goal. Feel free to cut and paste your reply to us. I never do this. As a hospitality professional for 25+ years, it takes something truly awful to happen for me to come onto a public platform and negatively review a business. My husband and I just left possibly the worst meal and experience of our lives. Ironically we were waited on by owner Dana Gregory, who completely had it in her power to turn our experience around. But she refused. My husband ordered the Foie gras as an entree (his favorite dish), and sadly it arrived cold. Like really cold. We let Dana know, and she said she would 'warm it up.' This is where things head south. We said could you please make a fresh one rather than heat this one up as foie is very sensitive to being overcooked. 3 minutes later we received our 'new' foie which was just the old foie cut in half and overcooked within an inch of its life. Not edible. We let Dana know, she argued, and asked for the check. Which included the Foie which was not edible either time. She angrily poured my white wine splashing the table. Refused to make eye contact. And finally kicked us out! I suppose the best part was not having to pay for the mediocre food or the absolutely terrible service. As an owner you should always strive to turn people around and make a return guest. Regardless of whether or not you agree with an opinion, it should not be met with the hostility that we received. No eye contact, aggressively clearing our plates, and just general awfulness. Unfortunately for all Dana is not capable of acting like a hospitable human adult, hence here I am to let you all know.

Yelp
Last year, I would have given M.C. Perkins Cove 5 stars. Did management or the executive chef changed? This summer, I feel that this restaurant is no longer fine dining. The view is excellent, of course but the food needs improvement. Fish Taco: should be one piece of fish, not small square pieces of fish. It was also hardly fried. Either do a good frying or serve grilled, not a weird in between. Lobster Roll: Wow. I expected so much more. Aside from it being rather small, the lobster meat was chewy, chewy, chewy. Would never get the lobster roll here again. Sweet Cheese Creme Brûlée: There was hardly any brulee on this dessert. It also tasted like it was torched and then stored in a fridge. Didn't taste freshly torched. Shrimp & Risotto: The risotto was good, the shrimp was undercooked even though I asked for the shrimp to be cooked more on the well done side. M.C. Perkins Cover: Please address the decline, as I used to think this was the best restaurant in Ogunquit.

Yelp
Oh, MC Perkins Cove--you've mastered the art of charging fine-dining prices for fine-print portions. Let's talk about that $17 salad, shall we? Picture a single leaf of lettuce, delicately trembling under the weight of two croutons and an apologetic drizzle of dressing. A bold artistic statement, really. And then--ah, the grand finale! When I declined the bun and fries (because, silly me, I assumed I wouldn't be charged for food I literally didn't receive) I was treated to a little surprise: a surcharge for substituting air with vegetables. Who knew "not ordering something" was an upcharge-worthy event? Overall, MC Perkins Cove is perfect if you enjoy playing financial roulette with your dinner bill. If you're looking for actual food, however, your best bet might be bringing your own sandwich and using the scenic view as the main course. Bon appétit!

Yelp
Terrible Customer Service - Avoid This Restaurant We had a disappointing experience at M.C. Perkins Cove that we feel compelled to warn others about. We made a reservation weeks in advance, but the morning of our visit, our son came down with pink eye. We immediately tried to cancel, explaining the situation while scrambling to find antibiotics on vacation. Despite our circumstances, they refused to allow cancellation and would not return our calls or texts requesting cancellation. We then tried to cancel in person. The owner was dismissive. He told us they had a waitlist but because they confirm reservations the day before, they could not accommodate our request to cancel and allow the waitlist people to fill our spot. When we arrived, we ordered appetizers, drinks, and dinner. We then watched as many other dishes were served to customers who arrived after us. Our food finally arrived over an hour after our appetizers and long after the wine we ordered to go with our meal was gone. After all of that waiting, the special entree arrived cold. It felt like the long wait time was intentional and that the kitchen was told to slow walk our order because we had tried to cancel our reservation. This restaurant clearly does not value their customers. They showed no compassion for our situation, provided terrible communication, and appeared to retaliate through poor service. We would strongly advise others to avoid this establishment and choose one of the many other excellent restaurants in the area that actually care about their customers. Recommendation: Avoid this restaurant.

Yelp
We stopped in for cocktails. It's a very pretty restaurant. You can see the water out the back window. We sat at the bar and I had a watermelon martini that was really delicious. Bartender is really nice. The upstairs restaurant is very pretty with views of the beach. I will definitely return to grab some food next time.

Yelp
Great view and very picturesque! Love Ogunquit but I was not impressed with my meal here. Just had the Shrimp cocktail (5 in total). Large shrimp with no taste at all-actually yuck! (cocktail sauce subpar). I was surprised too because it was Maine shrimp. How is their shrimp not delicious being on the ocean in Maine? Another family member had the Seafood chowder. It was ok. Smooth not chunky. This is my second time at MC. The first time I had their baked Salmon which was tasty. Too be fair I should have said something but I was with friends from out of state and didn't want to seem fussy. Also the waitress did not ask if everything was good. Give it a try for yourself but I won't be running back. Sorry no pic. Do wish I had taken some tho.

Yelp
Tonight I ordered the buratta, arugula watermelon and strawberry salad. The presentation was ok with a ball of fresh buratta in the center with a small fistful of arugula, one sliced strawberry about 11watermelon cubes.i guess that's what one gets for $17.50! Very disappointed as this was my 1st time at this restaurant .am pretty sure it will be my last !

Yelp
We came here for lunch before going to the Ogunquit Playhouse for a matinee. Too bad parking is such a bear. We had to pay $20. to park up the street from the cove. I wish eateries or chamber of commerce would offer some discount to help subsidize to cost of folks coming to eat or shop. We had made reservations and were immediately sat in a primo location in the corner with floor to ceiling windows and we felt like rock stars...... until our very embarrassed host came and moved us to another table saying she had put us at the wrong table. She was apologetic and our actual table was a lovely window table on the side of the dining room with smaller windows. We enjoyed the view. Two of us got the eggplant gyro which tastes less mediterranean and more like indian curry, but still good. I got the fish tacos which come as a pair. It was delicious but left me a tiny bit hungry still, so I split a pavlova with my friend for dessert and the coffee gelato was so good. The pavlova combo was a little too sweet for us. We shared the crab fritter appetizer which was delicious but very small. The prices were not too bad, but don't expect large servings. The service was amazing. Great wait staff and food runners and a person to come clean the crumbs from the table between courses.

Yelp
Delicious lunch. Almost missed this spot due to all the bad reviews. We had good customer service - the server did have a weird reaction when we asked for the "briniest" oysters, They only have one kind - but aside from that the food, drinks, and service were great. Pro tip: parking SUCKS. Walk there. The haddock is where it's at for lunch. Drinks are great.

H S.

Yelp
The location is amazing. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. We had a 6 o'clock reservation and we seated right away. The shrimp and crab Fritters appetizer was delicious. We ordered a tenderloin and the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection and the service was attentive without being intrusive. No room for dessert, but the offerings looked delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal

Jen B.

Yelp
Very good beef tenderloin! Loved the tallow fried potatoes. Tried the fritters for an appetizer, no real flavor unfortunately, just doughy. The steak made up for it though-wound be hard for me to order anything else next time.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed dinner on the deck on a recent evening. The view, food and service were all spectacular. We will definitely return to MC Perkins Cove during our next visit to Ogunquit.

Diane G.

Yelp
My husband and I had lunch on Thursday afternoon. We have been dining here for many years and have always raved about the food, service, views, etc. I ordered oysters to start which were wonderful. My husband ordered the crabster sandwich which he liked. I ordered the lobster roll, which I have ordered and enjoyed countless times over the years. When my lunch was delivered to our table, I almost thought a mistake had been made. The lobster roll looked like seafood or chicken salad, covered in mayonnaise and herbs. In the past, the lobster roll was delectable, with recognizable pieces of lobster dressed very lightly. I was disappointed with the change, as having a lobster roll here at MC Perkins Cove has always been a highly anticipated part of our trip to Perkins Cove. I know that there are new owners, but I'm not sure why you would change such a successful and quintessential dish.

Yelp
I had dined at this location some years ago when it was the Hurricane, and enjoyed it.This visit for a weekend dinner with friends was OK, but not as good as I recall. VIBE: The dining room was pleasantly rustic, with a nice view of the cove. Lighting was atmospherically dim. Noise level was tolerable. SERVICE: Staff were hospitable; our server was briskly attentive. Food was well coursed and arrived promptly. FOOD: A Caesar salad was OK. The warm cabbage salad was reported to be quite good, with nice flavor and nicely melted cheese. One person said their bistro burger was good, and that the fries were large and "real." The others of us had shrimp and clams on risotto: the shrimp were plump, juicy and delicious; the clams were dry and overcooked; the risotto was OK. There was a good selection of wines by the glass. Overall, I'd say everything was A-OK, but not quite a 4. It wouldn't be at the of my list on a future visit to the area.

Yelp
After years of admiring M.C. Perkins Cove from afar, I decided to make a reservation here to celebrate a special occasion. They have a positive reputation and I was excited for my dining experience. The bar was comfortable and the bartender was energetically friendly. The martini glass was sleek and chilled with ice. I was ecstatic to see that they carried another local vodka and I couldn't wait to try it. Ice Pik Vodka was smooth and gluten-free. The flavor was so light and delicate that it was perfect to drink straight. It had a refreshing taste and left me wanting more. The cocktail was served with only two firm, salty olives. My hangups at this restaurant were in the menu, food, and overall experience. The menu was creative but limited and since we were dining next to the Atlantic Ocean, I would have preferred to see more seafood options. They also had a hard rule of no substitutions and as a diner with many food restrictions, this made it challenging and ultimately frustrating. Additionally, the service was slow, I suspect because they were understaffed, and while I sympathize, this also added to a disappointing guest experience. While the dinner views were stunning and I was glad to discover a new vodka, I don't think I'll be visiting again. Read more on IG: themartinibible

Yelp
Duck confit is excellent- tender. If the alternate veggies come with this dish maybe even better.

Yelp
Favorite place in Ogunquit! The food, the service, and the view can not be beat. My go-to when here
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
The great - location, view, service, bar selection, lobster rolls, haddock sandwich and raw bar. Portions very generous, could not finish my haddock sandwich, but it made a nice dinner for my daughter. Chantelle our bartender was very attentive to everything. Oh two bars both were nice. A/c was solid on a very hot day. Cocktails and Mocktail were both appreciated, lots of beer selection for me. Oysters and smoked salmon on a bagel were out of this world. So good The good - French fries were solid, BLT was solid The ok - can't think of anything. Well I guess I like a larger water glass and a pitcher of water, but like I said I never hit 1/2 way down my water before Chantelle refilled it, so it didn't matter. The bad - absolutely nothing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This was our third time coming here for the special occasion of celebrating my mom birthday. I made the reservations a little over a month ago for the 4th. Super excited to come and enjoy the views and the delicious food. I called to add my boyfriend to the reservation which was no issue at all. They do take a deposit for each person but didn't think it was a big deal as I totally get how people no show. The day of I called to move our 6pm reservation to 7:15 which they happily accommodated. They didn't see that I had added a 3rd person but she went ahead and fixed it for us. We arrived and were greeted by some wonderful folks and they even gave us the best table to celebrate my mom outside. All in all I was extremely pleased in the beginning. Then things took a turn. We were told we had to order all at once which I have never experienced before as we wanted to get drinks, the seafood tower and some other apps. But didn't complain and just placed our orders. We asked for 2 burgers and some sides. 10 or so mins or so later we were told they didn't have anymore burgers and sold 40 that day. As restaurant owners ourselves we understood and my mom ordered the chicken and we upgraded our tower to the large one and ordered some sides. Then this couple arrived which they seemed to be regulars. Getting waited on hand and foot which was fine but when they arrived our service suffered. Ordered more drinks and my boyfriend never got his. At one point he was like my wine is finally coming but it was for the couple at the table that ordered one after us. Then the women in the couple ordered a burger. We could clearly hear the order and thought for sure she would be told the same thing we had been told. But her order was taken and a burger soon came out. Maybe there was one burger left who knows but maybe that last burger could have been offered to us. It made us instantly feel as though we weren't getting the same treatment. Which isn't the best feeling when trying to celebrate my mom's birthday. Her food came out later and then our sides. The onion rings barely existed. For almost 300 dollars a beautiful start to the evening left us feeling extremely disappointed. Not to mention we brought the bill inside to pay and I wanted to order a special dessert for my mom but it seemed like everyone just wanted to go home. Sadly we won't be back. And the food is really good. My Mom had the best pork chop of her life here a couple years ago. I even hate to leave this review but it looks like other people have been experiencing similar treatment. Too bad but everyone should be treated the same as we come every year and I have told so many folks about this place as well.

Yelp
Very good! Service was great and great food! Went for an early dinner. It started getting a little busy closer to dinner and our service slowed down. Overall great experience!

Yelp
The ambiance is nice. The food is good but not consistent. The service is at best fair. The owners are stingy and unreasonable. Not family friendly. About 50 hrs before we reserved dinner for two adults and a 20 month old, we tried to call to make sure they have a high seat and, if possible, to try to sit outdoors. Three tries and they did not answer. 29 hrs before we called again, spoke to a manager who told us they have no high seats or boosters. We explained that we are traveling and don't have one with us, we tried to call before and could not get through, nothing is listed in the website, can we please then cancel the reservation, to which she explained to us that we would be charged $65 to cancel. We said that was unreasonable, as this is an issue with the restaurant, can you speak to an owner? She said she would speak to an owner and have them call us back. They never called us back. Our hotel called the owner and he would not budge. We have been coming to this restaurant before we had a child, the fact that the owner was happy to lose a customer over $65 is the most unbelievably poor customer service I have ever experienced with a restaurant. It was clear to us that they just do not, want to have young children at the restaurant. Our amazing hotel was able to find a rental highchair to bring to the restaurant for us, so that we can still have dinner there (babyquip.com). At dinner, the staff was clearly overwhelmed. There was a party of 18 which completely slowed down the kitchen and the food took a very long time to come. The fact that they knew they had a large party coming, but still were insistent on maintaining our reservation or taking $65 from us, made this whole scenario even more ridiculous. I would never want to take business away from anyone, but this ownership needs to prioritize customer service over a few dollars. The manager said in 17 years this has not been an issue, which is funny, since one other family had the same issue there just in the same night. I would not recommend going here, especially if you have kids. As a policy change, they can begin by noting on their reservation site that they do not accommodate young children. I hope to see better from them in the future.

Dan L.

Yelp
I had heard really good things about MC Perkins Cove, so was excited to try it. It was... fine? Decent? Nothing to write home about. The night started off rough- we had made a reservation for a birthday well in advance and requested a seat by the window. At first we were offered a table upstairs by a window that looked directly upon another group eating on the other side. If you want a casual experience, dine upstairs; for a nicer/more formal experience, downstairs. We offered to wait for a window seat downstairs and the hostess, who already was annoyed and dismissive that we did not want to sit at what we thought was the worst table in the restaurant said no and basically said we could sit now or leave. The waiter was very nice, though it took a while for him to take our food order after we put in our drinks (we were not permitted to put in apps without entrees, so he had to come back). The crab fritters were ok, the brussel sprouts were good. We had the lobster Mac and cheese-- the lobster was super salty and disappointing given the location-- and the shrimp risotto which was very good. We passed on their uninspired dessert menu.

Yelp
We had a remarkably great experience yesterday, from start to finish. In addition to the great views, there is a warm hospitality and a lively but not loud atmosphere. The Clementine Martini was a bright well-balanced cocktail. Next up were the oysters, with 2different styles of mignionette. These were the freshest, best oysters I've ever eaten. Then the scallop special, as promised by the server's description, was a light and delicate blend of the roasted pears and celeriac. It was delicious. Our desert, the apple tart, kept up the standard with a fresh apple filling and tasty pastry. And the entire staff was helpful and friendly. Our server Mike was especially outstanding. His descriptions were really spot on and his suggestions were very helpful. He made the evening warm and inviting.

Susan K.

Yelp
We book this restaurant every year for a birthday celebration. They take a $20 deposit per head. We were a big crowd. At last minute one of our members contracted Covid. I called to ask if I could just have the reservation deposit back for two people since the other was exposed. They were unbelievably rude! the manager and owner were rude! At best it is a mediocre, overpriced restaurant that happens to have a really good view. The weights death seems bothered. ***EDIT: Javier replied to my original review and called me a liar, saying I'd never been to the restaurant before. I thought I would add just a few pictures of my family and me dining here over the years (with dates included). Is this how you treat your (formerly) loyal patrons, Javier? I'd recommend updating that system. Let's tell the truth here, Javier. We made a reservation for 6 and increased it to 9 incrementally WEEKS before. We didn't think that would be too challenging for you to handle, Javier. We inquired (not demanded) about the private room. When told it was unavailable we said no worries. By the way, the only reason we asked for the private room is because we had a relative with a disability joining us. We then asked if it would be possible to dine on the first floor (for obvious reasons) and you gave us a hard time about that. Asking for an accommodation for a disabled patron is considered "hastling"? I think it's REALLY important for people to know that you don't accommodate people with disabilities at your restaurant. We said MANY times that we would come in ANY time that day -- whatever worked best for the restaurant's schedule (understanding this is a busy weekend). We were then called "difficult" and "annoying." I didn't realize receiving requests in the customer service industry was considered "harrassment", Javier! And PLEASE I BEG you to respond to me again -- and show everyone considering dining at this restaurant how nasty, disrespectful, and unprofessional you and your management are. Seems like a pattern based on the other reviews. You should really work on that, Javier!

Yelp
Outstanding cuisine and hospitality. During our 7-night stay Coastal Maine trip, MC Perkins served up our best dinner. Probably the best duck we've ever had. And the service was outstanding. Special thanks to our server, Maria. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We had an outstanding experience at M.C. Perkins Cove on 7/28/2024. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and the view and the food were excellent. Service was excellent! We will return if we get back to the area. Highly recommend!

Dale V.

Yelp
We made reservations for 12:45 PM today. it took us 25 minutes to drive 4 miles. When we got to restaurant on time, there was no parking. 4 blocks away was a $30.00 parking lot. It would have been nice if they provide parking or on their website it said no parking. We did not eat at this restaurant and went to another restaurant.

Yelp
I wandered into this beautiful restaurant on a drizzly grey afternoon and sat at the bar. I ordered a cocktail and a burger. It was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. Even the fries were delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy this day, and even though I was sitting at the bar, I was still able to view the ocean thru the large window across the room. I came back the next day and had their homemade tomato soup & grilled cheese and thoroughly enjoyed them both. If I didn't live in California I would frequent this place more often!

Yelp
I can't for the life of me understand why this place has the amount of stars it does. This restaurant deserves 5. I ordered the Lobster (classic.) best lobster I have had so far on my Maine trip. The waitress made frequent trips to our table refilling our water and asking how our food is. The cloth under our table made for a quiet environment.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. I am 8 months pregnant and planned to go to this restaurant for a special night to celebrate my bday. I ordered the salmon medium which was raw. It looked like sushi grade salmon. The waiter was nice but unfortunately the manager was not. I could not believe how rude she was to me. I asked since it was completely undercooked and bland and fishy if I could get the chicken instead. She picked apart the salmon and decided it was fine to her standards. It was inedible to me. I was pregnant and didn't want to get sick from eating raw salmon. She refused to take it off the check and bring me the chicken dish instead. I was in tears. She then stated she would be back to let me know after she speaks with Javier the owner, however she never came back. 30 min later still waiting for her to come back with either the salmon dish or another dish. I was sitting there with nothing but then forced to still pay for the salmon when I couldn't even eat it if I wanted too. I have never been to an establishment with such rude service in my life. This was supposed to be a special night out with my husband but was ruined by the attitude of the manager. Luckily we went next store so I could eat something and they couldn't be nicer! Read reviews before going here..it is a pattern, many horrible reviews regarding management and customer service

Yelp
M.C. Perkins Cove is a great suprise and wonderful experience for anyone vacationing, living or passing thru Ogunquit Maine. It was a cornerstone for years with its past owners who were great chef's. But now M.C. Perkins Cove has gone a cut above. Its staff, food and ambiance are unparalleled. We had dinner and our expectations were just blown away. We were greeted wonderfully. Our server couldn't have been nicer and the "CHEF" extraordinary. The food was just superb and the cocktails exactly what you would expect. Crisp, excellent and cause for a few more. I rate this restaurant a five star and i promise you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.................

Yelp
SCROLL TO SEE RUDE RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I am with my experience at MC Perkins. My family and I have been going to this restaurant since its opening years ago (and it's predecessor at the same location for years before that). We had a reservation for a family member's birthday booked months in advance. When calling to change the reservation because one person in our party tested positive with COVID and another was exposed, the manager absolutely TORE INTO us, threatening to hit us with a hefty charge, name-calling, and eventually slamming the phone on us (not once, but twice!). We finally got in touch with the "lovely" owner, who was just as obnoxious and offensive, if not more so. Let it be known: MC Perkins and their management/ owner DOES NOT respect COVID protocols and therefore DOES NOT care about their customers' well-being. We've traveled to Ogunquit/ Perkins Cove for over 25 years -- Please spend your time going to one of the actually pleasant restaurants nearby, i.e. Barnacle Billy's, Cafe Prego, Jackie's Too, etc. The food is better and more reasonably priced -- and the staff will actually treat you like a human being. A shocking concept, apparently!

Yelp
as others have noted, the view can be amazing. Unfortunately, for us, our view was not the ocean, but overlooked the nearby shops. This was kind of an issue because this restaurant is about the view, not the food or service. The prices were quite high: $150 for two, which included one glass of wine and one soft drink. For these prices, you would expect excellent food or service, or maybe both. Unfortunately, we had neither. To start with service, our waiter was pleasant enough, but it was a little hard to get things such as refills for water, we weren't asked about her food, nor were we offered menus for dessert at the end of the meal. Our lobsters were fine. A bit over cooked. More than a little chewy. But the sides... The johnnycakes started out greasy and ended up wet from the excess water from the lobster. This was OK, because after one bite, I really didn't need to eat more. We had a few tiny spears of asparagus, which had nice flavor. Those might've been the highlight, because the additional side, mashed potatoes, were both cold and unseasoned. Eating them felt a bit like a punishment. Do yourself a favor. Be sure your visit to Perkins Cove coincides with the open hours of the Lobster Shack next-door. You'll pay less than half for better service and better food.

Yelp
It was nice but not great. You're expectations going in because of what you see on the Internet for advertisement, the pictures are beautiful. When you get there it is nice but not crazy good. The food was good and the ambience was OK. The views of the ocean were beautiful and breathtaking. The service was also good. Bottom line, I probably would not go back again.

Yelp
They're open in the off-season so they can really overcharge for lobster. The main draw is the view but other than that it was just okay. One of the older hostesses was a bit rude to us as soon as we entered, and before we had even said anything.

Yelp
Things have changed dramatically since this restaurant opened years ago by the original owners of Arrows. There are now minimal options for children's meals and adults with dietetic restrictions. For instance you could not order a hamburger ~ only a cheeseburger because those burgers were prepared earlier in the day and the cheese was already inserted into the burger? There was also a lack of vegan and vegetarian options. In addition, entree prices are among the highest in Ogunquit and although the service was acceptable it was short of memorable. And finally the female bartender was gruff and unfriendly which made for an unwelcome first impression. So many wonderful dinings options in OGT...MC's can be crossed off your list!

Yelp
Great view, food was solid, service was too, thanks to the upstairs bartender who made sure we were looked after at our two top. The staff was running almost constantly. There was a family table of eight with 4 little kids making a total racket, and we have kids- but we never let them do whatever they wanted to in a nice restaurant. Generally, we experienced some of what runs through many reviews. It was our anniversary, a big one, but we did not tell the restaurant. When we arrived, my wife innocently asked if a table outside might be possible. Some tool of a host in skinny jeans and glasses was fairly rude in his answer, and then dropped the comment that we were "already 8 minutes into our reservation". This set the tone. And, we had to park about 10 minutes away, because they don't tell you anywhere that there is way too little parking, and its in a very chaotic place with multiple restaurants and fishing charters all competing for the paid parking spaces. We paid $15 for parking. There are many other wonderful choices nearby and you can walk over for the view anytime. One and done.

Yelp
The food and drinks were amazing! Service was very quick, friendly, accommodating. We were seated upstairs right by the ocean on the deck. The view was breathtaking a breath of fresh air!

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! Lots to choose from on the menu. The view from the deck is lovely.

Yelp
This review could have been so positive if the female owner/ manager handled herself differently. We did not like one of our dishes and rather than remove it from our bill, she proceeded to argue with me. I was then handed the bill, which they graciously included their own gratuity (sarcasm!) My bill was over a $600, so it wasn't like we didn't order many items from the menu along with wine/ beverages. It was terrible customer service from the management.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience. Beautiful views. Horrible management. Fishy, Undercooked salmon served to a pregnant woman and refused to exchange.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years now, previously was "The Hurricane". As others have commented, the views from the dining room are stunning. We've always had good, efficient and friendly service here. If my wife and I order something to share, it is usually split in the kitchen and served to us on our own plates, a nice touch. Food is consistently good, but pricey. Cocktails, and particularly the martinis are exceptional. All in all we find this a very enjoyable option for lunch when looking for something a bit special.

Yelp
Go for the view , stay for the bluefin tuna entree! We have dined here several times over the last 10 years and the delish daily specials keep us coming back for more- the bluefin tuna is a must have when on the menu - no matter the preparation (the team is always tinkering with the dish accompaniments) you will not leave disappointed. Good cocktails Javier and team will take great care of you !

Yelp
Excellent food very good atmosphere and great view I had the duck confit it was ridiculously good. If you're looking for cheap this is not the spot. But for fine dining in Ogunquit ME it's not overpriced I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Always an amazing time. The food is phenomenal and the service is perfect. The view of the ocean and the cove is spectacular. I always try to bring friends and family while visiting Ogunquit. The summer is the best out on the porch but there is no bad seat. Love this hidden gem.

Yelp
Reservations made for this evening. Took several minutes to be seated and our party felt we were an inconvenience to the staff. Food was less than expected and certainly not prepared as requested. When brought to the attention of the waiter, his comment was "it looks well done to me".. The burgers were still bleeding! Roll was stale..pickle spears were thin as a toothpick. Only redeeming part were the truffle fries. ATTITUDE from Dana, the manager at what!! The food was NOT prepared as requested. Later came to inquire if "everything fine ladies?".. All were too irritated and disappointed to tell her the truth and ask her why the attitude! Never will dine there again nor will it be recommended. Very, very disappointed and not worth the price. Truly, Dana..a bit less attitude would have helped with this comment.

Yelp
We went because we couldn't get in another place and I had read they had a great view. We ate at the end of the bar, and even though it was dark we could see the waves crashing. Honestly the menu didn't have have anything on it that really interested me. We got the crab cake app and chowder. Both tasted good. The prices seemed high (two beers, a soft drink plus apps came to $70 with the tip. Servers , manager and bar tender all seemed to care about the customers.
