15 Best Coffee Shops in Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"For snap-happy views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, it’s hard to beat rooftop MCA Cafe, a light, airy indoor-outdoor spot at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia overlooking Circular Quay. Set on the gallery’s fourth floor, the café attracts art lovers and tourists, but you don’t have to visit the MCA collection to come for a locally brewed coffee, T2 teas, milkshake, juice, or glass of Australian wine. Pop in before checking out an MCA art show, after touring The Rocks, or just to soak up some of the best panoramas in town." - Sophie Davies

I had heard such great things about the MCA Cafe and was looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. I ordered the ham and cheese toastie as did some of my friends. Although there were a number of premade sandwiches in the window, service was slow, and it took quite some time for our toasties to arrive. My other friends who ordered different items had just about finished their meal when ours arrived. Drinks were also finished way before the meals arrived. My toastie was cold in the middle, and the cheese was not melted properly. I did not speak to staff about it, though, because it took a while to come, and we were under time constraints to get back. We also noticed a discrepancy in the size of sandwiches, with mine being smaller. The toastie was filled well, but to me, it tasted bland. It was so unfortunate because the view, location and atmosphere are really nice.

Small selection of food but lots of staples if you want a quick bite and aren’t too fussy. Cinnamon cruffin and coffee, bacon and egg roll had a nice runny egg and was satisfying with the bbq sauce. Nothing to complain about, had indoor and outdoor seating too

The food at MCA Café in Tallawoladah is fresh, high-quality, and showcases seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The menu offers a mix of light bites like crumpets and pastries, alongside heartier options like the ham and cheese toastie with gruyere or the roast chook BLT. The spiced chickpea and ancient grains salad is a great lighter choice. For drinks, there’s a well-curated selection of wines, beers, and specialty cocktails. While the food is well-prepared and flavorful, some may find the menu a bit limited. Overall, a great spot for a tasty, casual meal with stunning harbor views.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. A stunning view of the harbour and Sydney Opera House. My baguette was delicious. Not toasted is best. Service would have been 5 stars, but we had to order via QR code from our table. Overall amazing location and great casual cafe. We will be back.

Views food coffees Good cafe overlooking the opera house and harbour bridge in a cafe with coveted and uncovered areas to sit in. Opportunity to get some great photos as set up high without the cost of paying for fine dining. We had the ploughman platter and cauliflower salad. Self service order at counter. Good location as you can combine this with looking around the art gallery and other iconic attractions. Love your local guide -M❤️ Please follow me I need your support.

My go-to lunch spot when I’m in circular quay. The best service and good tasty food. Sometimes it’s crowded, sometimes it’s not. Decent prices for that area and good quantity. If I’m the MCA museum with unmatched views. If the cruise ship is not there, you can harbour bridge and Opera House.
