McCloud Falls - Upper Fall

Parked at the Lower Falls at around 4:30pm on a Wednesday in August and then did a trail run to the middle and upper falls. Loved the middle falls the most, especially getting to see them from above. Total roundtrip came to around 4.5 miles with 400 ft elevation gain. Lot of people on the trail.

short walk from the parking lot along a paved path the reach the falls overlook. Trail to the left goes above the falls with over look along the river. Trail to the right you can see the falls. Smaller trails down to get the the falls and the pool. Keep continuing on the dirt trail to the right to reach middle and lower falls.

Upper McCloud Falls is a beautiful and unique waterfall with a canyon entry and a large drop into a large sunken pool. The view of the falls is less than the other but there are multiple views points as well. Worth the additional travel between the falls.

The roads are closed to McCloud falls during winter. But it’s a good 2 to 3 hr walk to see the McCloud middle falls from the parking lot. We felt the walk is worth for the scenic view at the end..

Hi! Beautiful place to visit! Get there early for more parking. To camp 🏕️ there are no showers. Camping 🏕️ is available. It’s cold near the water. In the summer it’s hot. Bring water and snacks. These pictures are from June 18, 2023. I would go visit again but this time rent out a cabin or hotel so I can spend more time in Nature. 🌲

McCloud Falls is amazing! Definitely worth the stop. The lower, middle, and upper have fantastic views. The water is cold, clear, and sounds amazing gushing over the boulders. The lower and upper sections are mostly paved and have nice picnic areas and facilities. The middle section is dirt and rock with some stairs a little more moderate terrain, however, the middle section has probably the most spectacular views!

Absolutely beautiful area. The Falls don't compare to Burney or anything of that sort, but it's a really nice walk to go from each of the upper, middle, and lower falls. Both the upper and lower falls have better parking lots with river access. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth going to all three of the falls.

If you are a water fall chaser these falls three falls are pretty cool. You can drive to lower, middle, and upper falls or you can hike the trial that connects all three. It was getting late so we decided to drive it.
