I try to visit McCloud at least once a year, it’s one of my very favorite places to explore. I hadn’t heard of this B&B before. It’s tucked back behind the mercantile on Main Street. It was a great experience to stay here. The rooms are large yet cozy. The owners Julie and Dan are so welcoming and the food Julie cooks is amazing. Some of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had and the dinner was also amazing. It’s a unique Inn with great amenities. I’m so happy to discover this place and highly recommend it. I will be back! 🌲

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. The rooms where charming, the breakfast was great, and the little extra things included made this place really stand out amongst the B&B's we've stayed in.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! My wife and I stayed here to visit a wedding in town, the owners were amazingly friendly and helpful. The breakfast they made was fantastic everyday we were there. They were super communicative about dietary needs and restrictions. Breakfast on the patio was full of hummingbirds and good conversation. Late at night we were getting ready to walk out and one of the owners stopped us and Let us know about a bear that lives in town area and goes through garbage cans, and we were able to actually see it down the street. It was super cool. If you're staying in town, stay here!

When my wife’s friend invited us to her wedding in McCloud, my first question was “where the hell is that?” After doing some research on the area, we were excited to make the 3.5 hour drive up north. However, we were concerned about our lodging arrangements because there was not a variety of options in the area. Thankfully, the bride’s father reserved a few rooms for some of the wedding guests. Upon arrival we were both warmly greeted by owners Julie and Dan who gave us a rundown of the amenities (i.e., free beer on-tap and wine at select prices). Julie informed us that breakfast would be served at 8:30 am the next morning, which was terrifying at the moment considering that we would be up to the wee hours of the morning partying. When we entered the room, we were enamored by the cozy cabin-like vibes of the room. Our room (room #5) was in close proximity to the common area; therefore, we had close access to coffee, beer, etc. After the wedding, we returned to the establishment a little before 11pm. We were warmly greeted by Crystal (ironically Crystal and I are birthday twins!), whom we purchased guava ciders from (a nice remedy to a possible hangover). The next morning we arrived to a common area full of friendly locals who were chatting and enjoying breakfast (which we could smell the deliciousness of from our rooms). Julie greeted us and shortly after brought out what would be a scrumptious breakfast. Following breakfast, we joined a couple from the wedding for a nature walk of the area. If you have time, I highly recommend doing so! It’s a very calm area, with friendly residents and great views of the nearby mountains. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the McCloud River Bed and Breakfast. Our only gripe is that we were not on the property long enough to take advantage of the available amenities (i.e. live music). If you’re looking for a cozy place to stay with great customer service, I suggest checking out McCloud River Bed and Breakfast!

Our Hostess was lovely! She is so accommodating, and full of great suggestions for hikes, restaurants, and more. You are treated with a special surprise treat when you check in (no matter what time). The rooms have lovely furnishings and the beds are very comfortable, with fluffy pillows. Julie is a fabulous cook. The breakfasts were wonderful. She will even cook you dinner if you give her sufficient advanced notice. We will stay again if our travels take us near McCloud again.

This is one of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed in. The room, the food, the service... Absolutely everything surpassed our expectations. We were in room #1, which was great for 2 adults and our 2 young kids. The decoration is beautiful. It feels like going back in time. Breakfast was one of the best we've ever had in a B&B or hotel: waffles with berries and whipped cream for the kids and a berry salad for us adults + eggs with asparagus and avocado toast. We had breakfast on the deck. I've never seen so many hummingbirds! As for the staff, everyone who works there is super friendly. We had to leave early on the last morning (6 am) and Julie made sure that there was hot food for us to take with us on our road trip, even at that early hour. Also, great things to see in the area: waterfalls, lakes... We absolutely loved our stay here! Highly recommended.

We just ended our second stay at the McCloud River Bed and Breakfast. Once again, it was fantastic!! We stayed in the same room, Room 2, which has two extremely comfortable beds in it - a king and (I think) a double or queen. The room was spacious and had a lovely outlook. There was a window air conditioner, but b/c it cools down so much at night, we didn't need to turn it on, even though outside it was probably over 90 during the day.|The inn is located just off the main street in McCloud, so it's very quiet. There is a beautiful, large front lawn. The historic buildings of the town (of which the inn is one) are all within easy walking distance. There are all kinds of outdoor activities nearby - especially hiking and fishing. Don't miss the chance to visit Burney Falls, which drops over 100 feet over and through lava rocks - it reminds me of waterfalls in Hawaii. |Dan and Julie, who graciously greeted us on our first visit, were out of town. We were incredibly well taken care of by Nancy - so warm and friendly, we felt immediately at home.|Of special note is the inn's fantastic breakfast!!! Do not miss it!! In the summer, it is served outside on the deck (the tables all have umbrellas). It begins with a "first course": orange juice, coffee, fresh fruit and home-baked goodies, followed by a hearty egg dish. Yesterday, Nancy made huevos rancheros - delicious! |We really felt away from city life, in the best of all ways - it was so beautiful and relaxing there. We're very much looking forward to returning!

Google
You should stay here if looking for a Bed and Breakfast experience. I felt so catered to in almost every respect. The home was massive and well renovated. The town is adorable. My room was very clean and decorated so nicely. Staff were very prompt about calling or emailing in advance to make sure of food allergies and restrictions while making an exquisite dinner and amazing breakfast. Hosts shared great history of the town and building, and were. Not overly chatty. Just perfect hosts who made sure I was happy with my stay. I came during a blizzard and it was nice seeing all the snow. When I woke up there was about 3 ft of snow on my truck and on the ground. They took the time to help me dig out my vehicle and even plowed the road so I could leave the property. I will 100% return during better weather.

Yelp
I don't think I have ever woke up and was anxious to go to breakfast in a B & B before. Julie puts on an amazing one. Homemade scones, fresh fruit, eggs, potatoes, and that was only the first day. Dan gave us a brief review of the hotels past. History can be amazing! Our room was very quaint, cozy and relaxing, clean and well kept. We were there for the Friday night live music and dinner on the patio. What is there not to like about that? Apparently the hummingbirds like it there too. So many I could not count them.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here over the New Year's weekend. From the moment we arrived till the minute we departed, the hospitality and food was second to none! The owners, Dan and Julie were so friendly and accommodating, we didn't want to leave. In fact, my wife and I extended our stay! Once we arrived, we were immediately greeted by an employee who showed us to our room and gave us a tour of the facilities. We were told to make our selves at home. After waking up on New Year's Day, we were served pastries, omelettes, bacon and fruit. The following day, we woke up to another amazing breakfast. Julie is an amazing cook! Later in the afternoon, Dan provided us with a tour of the property consisting of an extensive history lesson involving the Inn and the town of McCloud. I was left in "aww" after learning the extensive history and seeing all the memorabilia displayed on the walls. Every afternoon we returned to more home cooked goodies that was waiting for all guests down in the main area, all to be enjoyed in front of a warm fire that Dan keeps burning throughout the day! We ended our nights falling asleep on THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed I've ever had the privilege of sleeping on!! I could go on and on, but words don't do this goldmine the justice it deserves! My wife and I can't wait to come back! Thanks for such a comfortable and amazing time!

Yelp
Julie and Dan are gracious hosts. Fun to get to know them - very friendly and eager to make your stay pleasant. Breakfast meals were prepared lovingly meeting your dietary restrictions. We looked forward to Julie's creative and gourmet meals!

Yelp
My wife and I love this place. It really is a step back in time. The building is the original admin. offices for the lumber company which at one time encompassed the entire city of McCloud. If you want a more accurate history lesson talk to Dan. He loves sharing the history of the building, the city of McCloud and the lumber company. The food here was excellent. Jan not only is an excellent host she is a great cook. If I had anything negative it would be that we couldnt eat her food for lunch and dinner as well! The breakfast we had consisted of the best blueberry muffin I've ever had followed by what must have been a 3 egg loaded omelet. We stayed in the Presidents room (5) and slept on the most comfortable mattress (when we get home we are going to buy one) and the softest sheets. There was no TV in the room but the room had excellent free WiFi. They are doing a lot of remodeling so there is some work going on but that just makes my wife and I excited to see the progress when we return. Jan & Dan along with their staff are great! I would recommend this place 100% if you want a quiet, refreshing time to simply unwind. The only downside, and it has nothing to do with the B&B is McCloud shuts down early. If you plan on eating dinner here make sure you come Wednesday thru Sunday. Most of the restaurants are closed Monday & Tuesday. Thank you Jan & Dan & staff for a wonderful 2 night stay! We will most certainly be returning!

Yelp
1/14/2024 As a getaway, we bid for a night's stay at the McCloud River Bed and Breakfast, at last year's North State Cancer League's fund raiser. Dan and Julie are such gracious hosts. They gave us a fantastic tour. Their ongoing restoration added to our sense of discovering some of the original purpose and aspects of this lumbar company administrative office building. The tastefully decorated room had ample sitting room and the comfy bed had just the right amount of support for a great rest. Julie's breakfast was decadent and plentiful (Julie is a great chef). The warmth of the wood burning stove added to the ambiance. A definite destination next time we stay in McCloud.

Buzz D.

Yelp
A stellar spot to stay along w/ our service Dobie. There was easy wheelchair access. The homey fireplace lounge was a tranquil spot to read, chat, and enjoy wine. We enjoyed a bit of history in the old lumber town of McCloud. Julie(co-owner) delivered the Best multi-course homemade breakfast of fresh fruit, home-baked goodies, bacon & fluffiest eggs, teas, OJ, and more. She's meticulous about meeting your food restrictions. The President's Map Room (#5) was roomy with a huge bed, splendid linens, and very cool dimmable bedside lamps. Julie & Dan are the most hospitable hosts, sincerely friendly & welcoming of the guests. Hopefully, the town of McCloud will have more dining options as all three restaurants were closed. But, Julie's wonderful peanut butter cookies more than saved the day. I look forward to a return visit to fish the McCloud! Ask Dan about that. Robin, Buzz n Ziva

Yelp
I stayed in the President's Map Room. The room was large, yet very cozy and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also huge and very cool (strange to say that about a bathroom, but it was the antique that did it). The proprietor have me a small tour the following morning to show me some of the changes they've made in restoring this lovely old building, and this place is awesome. Breakfast was delicious. I stayed here once about six years ago and had been looking forward to this visit. I was not disappointed. I love this inn and look forward to staying here again.

Kristin H.

Yelp
Wonderful. Impeccably restored (and still restoring). There are very tasteful and serene common areas and the fireplace was inviting. Our room (#2) was spacious and fit three adult sized people (us and our teenager) very comfortably. Comfy beds with nice linens and plenty of towels in the bathroom. Hospitality was top notch with a historical tour of the amazing building and beverages and homemade treats. Breakfast was over the top beautiful and delicious. Juice and hot drinks, fruit, granola & yogurt, blueberry scones (!), omelette, hash browns, and bacon. So good. Dan helped us with a low tire before sending us off for home. Great place, nice hosts, sweet town. Book here, you won't be disappointed!

Lea M.

Yelp
This bed and breakfast was so quaint and had the cutest small town home ambiance. With the rustic feel, it takes you back to simpler times. Everything was clean and beautifully kept. There are homemade treats baked for you when you arrive. The peanut butter cookies were delicious and a very nice touch. The location is walking distance from great restaurants, and the shaded patio over looking the grass and flowers was a wonderful spot to relax with a cold beverage. Hummingbirds and butterflies flew around us which my toddler just loved. The rooms were kept cool which was great with such high temps. I loved the stay and will absolutely come back.

Len G.

Yelp
OMG, was so perfect. First of all the place is beautiful, with well-decorated rooms. The hosts, Dan and Julie, are a real team. Julie with her culinary skills, fantastic breakfast, and excellent presentations. Her baking skills are apparent with the baked treats upon arrival Then there is Dan; his historical knowledge of the structure is impressive. Plus, you will be amazed by Dan's carpentry talent as he takes you on a tour of the B&B. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Maura H.

Yelp
From the moment you arrive you feel welcome and relaxed! Julie and Dan have created an oasis in beautiful McCloud. Downtown is a quick walk and the McCloud reservoir is some of the most amazing fishing in Northern California. Relax by the fireplace, visit with other guests or enjoy your own private retreat with spacious rooms and all the amenities! Julie is a fabulous baker and chef, and Dan is an avid fisherman with a passion for the city's amazing history. Do yourself a favor, book your room, or bring your friends and family for a getaway!

Dan V.

Yelp
Best B&B I have ever visited. We came to McCloud for a wedding and we had the best time. Julie and Dan were simply amazing. We went out sightseeing with friends and we got our car stuck in the snow at the reservoir. Dan came to the rescue and helped pull our car out of the snow to make it back in time for the wedding. They are gracious, kind and friendly hosts and we look forward to going back and visiting with them again. I can't say enough nice things about Julie and Dan. Simply wonderful people that aim to provide a wonderful experience.

Yelp
We stayed here in October 2020 during our trip to McCloud Falls/Burney Falls. When you first arrive there is no one there to greet you. You have to let yourself into the home with a code & the room door itself is open. The house is very old & Victorian. Our room was downstairs right next to the lobby area so it was loud at night when other guests were having conversations/hanging out. There are pastries for everyone in the lobby however the pastries for each room are not equal. We got tiny muffins with some other chocolate dessert while the room next to us got cupcakes, a poppyseed loaf & chocolate pastries as well. Breakfast served the next morning was a granola fruit bowl & avocado toast with potatoes/vegan sausage (which we didn't touch lol). The breakfast was okay -the potatoes weren't crispy & the avocado toast had too much cream cheese. The best part was the granola. Overall it was a pretty good one night stay. Pros: Comfy bed Large room Nice location- walkable to restaurants Delicious granola Cons: Water took a while to warm up Very squeaky floors Noise from other guests Cold room/floor Bright light from lobby while sleeping

Yelp
We stayed here for a weekend getaway since we were visiting Burney Falls and Mount Shasta. I absolutely loved this place and the special baked treats waiting for us when we arrived. Breakfast was delicious and she made sure to accommodate what we like! I would definitely go back and recommend this place! Love the vibe!

John S.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome place! Beautiful historic building, staff is amazing! Awesome breakfasts!!! We will be back!!!

Yelp
What a hidden gem this is, we booked a stay here in a whim during our family road trip and we are sooooo happy we did!!! The home is beautiful and has so much history. Julie, the owner, was so warm and welcoming and had baked delicious cookies for our arrival, the kids were so excited She gave us a tour of the home and told us all about the history of the home and the town. We stayed in the Switch Board room which was spacious for our family of 4! The sheets and towels were top notch and better than any of the 5 star hotels we stayed at on this trip. The bathroom was nicely updated too considering the home is historic. Julie made us an amazing breakfast and even made our kids a special meal that was kid friendly. She is honestly an amazing cook!! This place is truly special and Julie is a wonderful host, I highly recommend!!

Steve M.

Yelp
I was treated to a weekend at this very comfortable establishment for my birthday, by the special person in my life. We were greeted by our own plate of baked goods, and a fruit and cheese plate in our room. The room was very clean and comfortable, but the plate of baked deliciousness that never seemed to go bare, was the highlight of our stay here. Julie can bake like nobody's business. Very hospitable hosts, excellent peaceful location, and breakfasts that are better than I make. I've never said that before!

Tali N.

Yelp
The place is beautiful, room was clean and well designed, the original 'bank safe' at the first floor is a big wow. They were super nice accommodating breakfast to our food restrictions. The 3 things that we would recommend improving will be : 1. Complete the remodeling in the first floor 2. Hospitality : have someone welcoming the guests and a familiar face to go to would feel much nicer 3. Bathroom amenities

Atmos H.

Yelp
Stayed at McCloud River B&B for one evening during early June 2021. The staff was friendly and the facility was clean. The structure is old so expect creaky floors when walking. Since I visited during Covid-19 time, the staff was extremely careful in following safety protocols. They had multiple guests staying so for breakfast, we sat in a different dining area. They posted old pictures of what the building look liked before. But it would have been nice if they also talked a bit about the building, what it was used for and etc..

Ashley N.

Yelp
My husband I stayed here for a quick one night getaway. The B&B is charming, beautiful and historic. Upon arrival, we found homemade baked goods labeled for us and a very organized "welcome" package in our room. The outdoor porch is stunning in the evening and we enjoyed a few drinks under the twinkle lights. In the morning, we found a beautiful breakfast table arrangement- where we served coffee, orange juice, water, pastries and 2 courses of the BEST breakfast food we've received at a B&B. The staff was so friendly and helpful! And McCloud offers cute, historic shops and restaurants just down the street from the B&B. We LOVED our stay!!

Celestina T.

Yelp
What an amazing surprise. We didn't know what to expect, but as we drove up, it was just what we wanted. Nestled in large trees sprinkled with snow, the view was breathtaking. The owners were very nice and made it feel home-like. The food was out standing. They even had homemade snacks with our name tag when we arrived. Bed was comfortable, and breakfast was at 8:30. I highly recommend this historic, rustic B&B.

Jeremy F.

Yelp
Divine. From the keyless entry system to the treats/cookies and cupcakes to the breakfast, the ornate antiques and decor to the great great history of this building and those who kept after it all these years and the recently new owners (new as of of 2018ish)... this is simply a very impressive B&B and well worth every penny! They're doing some literally awesome remodeling projects which are going to make everything that much more special in the very near future. Literally everything going on at this B&B is nothing short of spectacular! Wishing the new owners Julie and Dan the best of luck forward and they have the talent, taste and service to be wildly successful! We were thrilled and can't wait to go back one day! Our stay was all like a dream! PS. They're going to be doing weddings soon too! It's all in the works!

Karen S.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay and enjoy a bit of history in the old town of McCloud. Best homemade breakfast of fresh fruit, home baked goodies, bacon & eggs, coffee, smoothies, oj and more. Julie & Dan are most hospitable hosts, very friendly & welcoming of the guests in this 5 BR B&B. Dan gave us the history of the place, and tour of the building, pointing out the vault & stories of how this building was basically where the whole town was run from back in the day. The bank was inside, as were all of the town records, receipts, payroll, and housing for the employees. Not far from Mt Shasta and McCloud River, Lake McCloud etc. Perfect little getaway spot. Beautifully furnished and cozy place to call home for a few days. Glad to have A/C in the rooms for comfy sleep temps after hot days almost 100 degrees in summer months. We will be back!

Yelp
For our anniversary we decided to check out Burney and McCloud falls and go on a couple of hikes. My bf surprised me with an overnight stay so we can further check out the area for future trips. After a fun, scenic day we drove to the town of McCloud and pulled up to this beautiful Bed&Breakfast. We had time before check in so we walked around the town, spoke to some of the locals, and we were able to learn some amazing history. McCloud is a beautiful little quaint town with the friendliest locals ever, just be aware that everything closes early so if you're hoping to get there late make sure you've eaten and you have water, etc. When we walked into the B&B, there was a beautiful assortment of treats with our name under them! It was such a cute surprise (my bf already knew about it) and it was kind of nice to be able to just walk in, grab your treats, and head up to your room. There isn't really a check in process but the building is safe. The room was GORGEOUS and the beds were so comfortable. For a fee my bf paid for us to have an assortment of cheeses, etc waiting for us in the room upon our arrival which was awesome. Also, this town is the QUIETEST town I've ever been in so everything is eerily quiet at night which made for a great night's sleep. The next morning we had a beautiful breakfast served to us by Julie, the owner. It was all so delicious and beautiful I just didn't want to leave. Upon our departure we ran into Julie and her husband Dan and we were able to learn a little more about the B&B and the town, they were so kind to us. Definitely worth the stay!!!!

Yelp
Heaven on Earth. This was seriously one of the best trips of my life and staying at the McCloud river bed and breakfast was a highlight and a great way to wrap up my trip! We stayed one night on our way back home and wish we could have stayed forever. Such a little gem, from the authentic vintage decor, the comfy bed ( which I missed sunrise for) , to the hospitality! Owners Julie & Dan are warm & welcoming and have a true love that spans across the whole home. This is a jewel to behold and they know it and are doing alot to preserve this treasure. Julie called us the day we booked to ask if we had any food allergies or preferences, being a vegan, breakfast is hard to come by and Julie went above and beyond to accommodate. Driving up to the property me and my girlfriend squeeled in delight to see this beautiful B&B, you turn the bend and there it is a sweet yellow house with yellow trim & a large wrap around deck. We were greeted with the smell of the best vegan cookies I've ever had. In the morning we walked down the hall to the smell of breakfast being made and boy was it delicious and specially prepared for us. It's a 5 bedroom home so it feels very intimate. We watched the stars on the deck at night and dreamt of what it would be like to live here! I have been to many bed and breakfasts, spent ridiculous amounts of money and nothing came close to the mccloud river inn. 5 mins from shastas river & water falls so great for summer get aways as well as prime location to the ski resort in the winter! I will 100% be back to see it during Christmas time! & To bring every member of my family there, the town of McCloud is sweet and feels like home. Excited to come back time and time again! Thank you Julie & Dan for your warm nature and for sharing your place with us, I believe everyone needs to come stay with you atleast once a year for that feel good vibe!

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Quiet, one precious and rare to come by. Warmth, the sort I crave in a home, and hope to find in the one/s who open that home's doors. Comfort, from the beds and A/C, to each detail that's been thought of and attended. The space, brimming with beauty, refinement, and history, its hosts, brimming with grace. It is most evident to this guest, that owners and hosts Dan and Julie, are in this heart and soul. Thank you for a wonderful birthday weekend. Thank you for your care.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Traveling in the age of Covid can be a bit nerve wracking, but the minute we arrived at the McCloud River B&B, we were put at ease. Our afternoon baked goods were separately plated, protected, and clearly marked with our name. We were delighted with our room, which was bright and airy and beautifully decorated. Our 2-day stay was punctuated with many thoughtful, personal touches that sets this B&B apart from staying at an impersonal hotel chain. First, Julie is an inspired chef/baker. Because of Covid, our breakfast was delivered to our room and besides being abundant, was absolutely delicious. We skipped lunch both days because the breakfast was so generous. Secondly, Julie and Dan have a passion for the beautiful old Victorian structure, and they freely shared their dreams and vision for the place. The building's history is fascinating, and it holds a prominent place in McCloud's history. Julie and Dan were wonderful hosts. We intend on returning to McCloud periodically to check on their progress.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING!! The location and atmosphere is breathtaking. Julie is the MOST AMAZING HOST!! On the way to this beautiful bed & breakfast we got into an accident. A deer hit our car. Luckily we are fine. Just hated what happened to the sweet deer. It jumped out from nowhere. Julie had these amazing pastries made for us along with a delicious bottle of wine. The next day we could not make it to the breakfast but she offered to hold it so we could sleep in. Then she offered for us to hang out in the house till our new rental car arrived. Again, AMAZING HOST!! I would recommend to anyone staying in this area to stay here!! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We had a lovely two night stay at McCloud river bed and breakfast, beautiful Victorian House surrendered by nature and we were lucky to be there a night that snowed pretty heavily and the following morning trees were covered in snow and it was so beautiful to see! Food was just fantastic, Julie is such a great baker, at our arrival we were welcomed with a variety of delicious pastries, Gourmet breakfast was delicious and not just the typical breakfast items, we were served something different every morning and the table set up was really welcoming too. Lovely small cozy town, walking distance to some restaurants and short drive to Mount Shasta. Thank you Julie, Dan and Morgan for such a lovely stay.

Yelp
Things to know: no tv, few outlets, no fridge or microwave. Pros: beautiful old house large rooms excellent chocolate chip cookies cute decor plenty of soaps etc. had basic needs: iron, basket of books, blow dryer updated bathroom features, nice linens several breakfast options to serve yourself great juice and coffee easy late self-check in. Cons: Bed sagged- could barely sleep :-( Floor squeaked like mad- upstairs visitors were walking around at 6 am- floors can be fixed! Hostess brought us one piece of quiche- 1 piece of bacon as she noticed we were there- did not seem welcoming- more formal- didn't sit with us- breakfast was only offered for one hour- and no fruit as mentioned in other reviews tub was hard to manage- step up- two knobs to adjust, tile ridge on floor, open to large room- all heat just drifted up- could feel all the suction cups under mat- very painful after hiking all day.

Yelp
We came up here for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle. It was just what we needed! Such a relaxing and inviting place to stay! We enjoyed visiting with the owners and hearing all about the history of this amazing Bed and Breakfast! They are working on restoring some of the rooms to show off the original charm. They are doing a great job incorporating the history of the building while doing so. The owners are very skilled and you can see they take great pride in their work. We have enjoyed some amazing food and yummy freshly baked goods each day. The pastries that are set out everyday are to die for! The town was fun to explore too, lots of logging history here! We enjoyed hearing stories from members of the community who have lived here for years and even grew up here. So many fun memories! I would love to return and enjoy it for years to come!

Yelp
McCloud River Inn- A Hidden Gem on Mt. Shasta Many visit Mt. Shasta each year, yet relatively few of these travelers are aware of the tiny town named McCloud, nestled near the top of the mountain. The town is named after the McLeod family, settlers who arrived in the area in the early 1800s. Alexander McLeod led a group of explorers and trappers to the heavily forested area in 1829. His wife, Mary, became the town matriarch and everyone answered to her. "Momma McLeod" expected everyone in her town to maintain a high level of morality and respect for the community. Those who were disruptive or nonproductive were firmly invited to leave. The McLeod home was the center of all things in the tight-knit community. A nearby mercantile provided everything residents needed. Those who lived and worked in McCloud would pick up their necessities at the store. The funds for items acquired would be removed from the checks of individuals shopping at the store. Then, workers would go pick up their checks at the bank, which was originally located in the McLeod house. The building also served as the administration building for the local mill. The Champion Mill would serve as the "savior" of the area, providing jobs and crucial materials needed by the community. Maps of all areas of the forest were kept in the President's Room, and a large walk-in safe stored the files of all of the men in the community. In 1990, the McLeod home was declared a historical site. It was opened as a bed and breakfast in 1995. The McCloud River Inn Bed & Breakfast has five beautiful rooms with great rates. The Inn offers amazing specials for couples wanting a romantic getaway, anglers looking for that perfect fishing spot, or adventurers seeking out a fun new experience. Guests can enjoy a relaxing massage. A large room is available, where weddings, conferences, or other events can be held. Trails in the area offer a variety of hiking experiences. There are a lot of recreational activities in McCloud, including golfing, skiing, and birding. A delicious hot breakfast is served in the main dining room each morning. Guests can also arrange to have breakfast served in their rooms. Some make their stay even more special by ordering a champagne breakfast. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the main dining room. Each evening, delicious homemade treats are put out for guests to snack on. WiFi service is available for those desiring to use it.

Yelp
Found this gem of a place on Google last minute due to a family emergency and I have to say I got very lucky indeed. The place is amazing! They were very accommodating to checking in late with my family and even left us some delicious cupcakes and brownies waiting for us. The accommodations are like stepping back in time except the amenities that we can't live without like electricity, A/C and WiFi. It's a family owned and operated place that are just amazing people, they immediately made us feel like family and served us a delicious gourmet breakfast then gave us a tour of the building and explained the rich and fascinating history of the building and the town history. We were fortunate enough to see the portions of the building that are being renovated for later use. It was almost like getting a museum tour. We look forward to coming back and seeing the progress.

Yelp
We stayed at the McCloud River B&B for the first time recently, and will definitely go back again. Julie and Dan are wonderful, friendly and very welcoming hosts and we felt right at home. The baked goods (different ones each day) were extraordinary and the breakfast both days was fantastic. The location is great and there are endless things to do in the area year-round, whether you are all about outdoor activities, taking a relaxing walk or just sitting on the large front deck enjoying the scenery and having your morning coffee or an afternoon/evening beverage. McCloud is a very scenic, small, friendly town and definitely worth the visit. It is a short walk to any of the restaurants, pubs, churches or stores in town and the much larger city of Mt. Shasta is a 10-minute drive. There is a lot of interesting history in the area and we appreciated hearing about some of it from Julie when she gave us an impromptu tour of the B&B and explained the building's history. Truly enjoyed everything about our weekend stay!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the McCloud River B and B this past Tuesday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was perfect, firm, and we had a great night sleep. The room itself was reminiscent of a bygone era-nice! The breakfast in the morning that Julie prepared was simply outstanding- an omelet, bacon, fresh juice and great coffee. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the McCloud area.

Yelp
My Husband and I just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary here. It was our first Bed and Breakfast experience and we couldn't have been happier. Julie and Dan are doing a great job on the place. We got a great History tour of the building from Dan. and The Breakfast and evening treats were spectacular. Julie has an amazing talent. We felt very much at home and enjoyed every moment of our stay. Julie was great from start to finish communicating with me prior to arrival and we even discussed COVID Regulations. They had everything in place. We will be returning! Kellie B.

Yelp
My friend and I had a four night stay here and we really enjoyed the entire experience. The rooms are cozy, beautiful and made us feel at home. The staff are warm , friendly and extremely competent. The town that the BnB is nestled in is a better place because they are here. I highly recommend it. - Rio

Yelp
This was a great stay. We booked last minute and showed up around 430pm. As you walk.in your greeted to complimentary goodies. We went to check in, the inn keeper was not there, so we called the number posted on the front desk a couple times, she came down and checked us in. The room is a bit out dated with fabric all over the walls, early 90s I think. Other than that it was clean, cozy and very comfortable. The bed was wonderful, I slept great. Breakfast was amazing, gourmet with big portions. One of the best breakfasts I've ever been served. The jacuzzi tub felt amazing, especially after a day in the snow. We definitely would come back again. The Christmas decor in the hotel was also very heart warming.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to check out the town of McCloud, and were lucky enough to find a room at the McCloud River B&B in October during Covid. It was mid-week, so were able to have a choice from a few different rooms. All had their own special appeal - we chose one on the second floor that had plenty of space and a nice comfy big bed. Town was a two minute walk away, so it made it quite handy to be able to park and not worry about getting around. After a good sleep, we woke up to join one other couple - well distance from us - in the dining parlor. Breakfast was delicious: lots of it, with a baked scone, delicious egg dish, and more. Julie definitely knows how to cook and bake! You can see that she and her husband have been working hard to restore this charming house, both inside and out. We definitely plan on coming back sometime once things open up!

Yelp
Decided to book a place to stay on our way back from Seattle. Found McCloud River Bed & Breakfast. This is a beautiful quaint Victorian house that was converted to a B&B. The room was very comfortable and clean, large bathroom. We stayed during COVID-19 and hosts did a great job of working through restrictions. On welcome there were delicious cookies and cupcakes left for us. The breakfast was really well done with a pastry followed by a omelette. Owner checked in advance for any food / dietary restrictions. Overall a great stay, would come back and would definitely recommend.

Absolutely perfect experience. Large, comfortable room with a jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. We loved having our own balcony over the street. Beautiful, quiet location and helpful front desk staff. Designated parking in the rear. Breakfast was wonderful. Thank you for a great stay - we can't wait to return.
