McDonald’s Workers Striking to Protest Sexual Harassment

"Workers at multiple franchises across ten U.S. cities have organized a single-day lunchtime strike on September 18 to pressure management to address pervasive sexual harassment and other labor abuses in the fast-food industry. Coordinated by women's committees at dozens of locations, organizers say the action—believed to be the first multi-state U.S. strike specifically against workplace sexual harassment—responds to high reported rates of abuse (a survey found 40% of female fast-food workers experience harassment) and to complaints filed with the EEOC by employees including Tanya Harrell of New Orleans and Kim Lawson of Kansas City, who allege inadequate managerial responses. The organizers are demanding clearer, enforced procedures for handling complaints, mandatory anti-harassment training, and creation of a national committee that includes leaders of women's groups, workers, and representatives from both corporate and franchise locations. The company has pointed to existing policies and training and plans to consult outside experts such as Seyfarth Shaw and RAINN, but a labor lawyer working with the complainants says there are no signs of meaningful change yet." - Chris Crowley

Im pretty sure the staff here was wasted. The guy at the window couldn't keep his eyes open, the woman trying to fill orders was running around yelling at everyone and it seemed like they were having trouble keeping someone on the grill to cook the food. Once we finally got our food I had to go inside to get the rest of my order.

I went to McDonald’s 70119. The so called GM had the worst attitude ever. So very unprofessional. She claimed she had 2 degrees…yelling this to me in front of many customers as well as the staff. Her demeanor was the most ridiculous and pathetic to say she is a manager. The staff as well as customers asked me to call and report her. I promised I would. I didn’t get her name but she has braids with highlights. Plz reprimand her or you will lose customers. I’m pretty sure this isn’t her first complaint. This USED TO BE my favorite location due to them ALWAYS getting my door dash order correct. I order at least once a week when I myself am STUCK at papa johns working doubles. Listen- I be hungry and tired. I’m spending EXTRA money to go through third party to have it delivered to me- needless to say it should be correct. The last 3 times I’ve ordered, they are CONSTANTLY SHORTING MY ORDER. it’s not enough to be correctly made if the quantity is not correct. If I order 3 burgers, I WANT ALL THREE. Not to mention when you complain about it through door dash they only give you a measly 2$ compensation IF ANYTHING AT ALL. Idk who quit or got fired recently for this change to be so drastic but I am NOT HAPPY. This is coming from an assistant manager.

I had to go inside after sitting at the drive thru for 30 minutes to request part of my order that was left out and the woman there looked at me like I was garbage and said, “What do you want?” Avoid this location if at all possible.

Either the speaker was broken or nobody was answering. I said 'Hello' about 20 times. The menu screen was shot out by a bullet. I went to the pay window to place order. It was closed. I went to serving window and was told that I needed to go to the Speaker again. When I told her there was no one answering she started yelling to the order taker. I went around the restaurant a 3rd time. No one answered from the speaker. I asked for the Manager. She said she IS the Manager. I suggested they put up a sign the Speaker may not be working. She insisted it was working. I told her I saw 4 cars ahead of me leave. Instead of trying to solve the problem in a professional manner she wanted to argue. Very chaotic, childish, rude behavior. Whoever owns this franchise needs to tighten up the ship because it's surely sinking. If they want to lose business they are succeeding. Ps...The manager told me she had 2 degrees. I asked her if she understood the problem. She had degrees in Rudeness, Arguing and Ignorance.

I just used the app and had the worst experience of all time! Im in New Orleans visiting. I had to take an 8 dollar ride share to this location. We waited in the drive through for nearly 15 minutes. My ride share ended up costing me 26 dollars because of the wait. When I got back to my hotel my order was all wrong! To say Im mad is a gross understatement! I tried calling and was promptly disconnected each time. This is horrible. I paid for things I did not receive and the only way to try to get this fixed is to pay for another ride since the store wont answer the phone! I want to be contacted about this. Yes I want a refund. A full refund. This was a pathetic experience!

Maybe I came at a slow time, but I found service and food fine. Lady at counter was courteous and took my order of big breakfast w/ pancake. She even offered me a seniors coffee, but I went with the large. Overall, a very nice experience. Thank you.

Purely disgusting!! II complained about a customer hawking mucus into the lobbies trash cans, eventually realized he was a regular. From the face mask his significant other was wearing, both were visually contagious. came to secure my appetite not lose it. 11:20am doubt those bags will be switched out .

We should have read the reviews before we got in line at the drive thru. We arrived late to NOLA and got into what looked like a short line in the drive thru. The first problem was they had zero ice cream. NONE. The second problem is we have been waiting in the drive thru now for 20 minutes with two cars in front of us and no sign of movement. Unfortunately we already paid or we would just bail at this point. There appear to be at least five staff members working - not sure what is causing such a delay. The driver in front of us has fallen asleep and not pulling forward. UPDATE: When we finally got to the pick up counter they asked for our receipt and what we ordered. We weren't given a receipt. Below is the picture of my sad chicken sandwich. Yikes!

Bathroom was disgusting, entire restaurant had little bits of trash everywhere near tables and on the floor. Had no hand sanitizer in any of the four dispensers, took 45 minutes for a sausage McGriddle, a chicken biscuit, and a Dr Pepper. Neither of their touch screen order machines worked properly, one was closed, one didn't even let you pay out, and the third didn't print receipts. They only took cash up at the cash registers, and they only had one cash register because the other was closed.

The service here is just as terrible as the old food they serve you! The staff at this McDonald's is so lazy they just cook a bunch of food when they get on shift and leave it sitting all day long in the warmer until some unexpecting poor customer drives up and gets to pay full price for day old dried up food! They are very unprofessional and the food here shouldn't even be fed to the public. The atmosphere on the inside is very dirty , the employees our so loud you can't hear yourself think , it's like a bunch of kids are running this restaurant and the adults are worse than the kids! Unless you like day old food I would not recommend this McDonald's to anyone! I THINK THE RECENT HEALTH INSPECTION SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!!! LOOK!!!!

Been coming here for years because I work late nights downtown so sometimes this is my only option for a last minute bite to eat close to home. Since Covid it seems like you never know what you're gonna get past midnight....whether their system is down, ignore you while you sit there, or maybe they come on the intercom saying they're not open, literally it seems like they make any excuse not to take your order...and that's just MY experience over the last year or so. Why I keep trying, I don't know....I really don't lol. Burger King closes early and I'd rather try my luck before I go to Rally's... Tonight will absolutely be my last time coming. There was one car in front of us as we sat and waited 5/6 mins to order. Went ahead to order 2 sandwich's and 10 nuggets BUT was cut off by the guy working this morning 12/3/23 at 2:40am, because 'we can only order ONE ITEM PER CAR'. Confused we asked again what he meant....then proceeded literally SCREAMING 'I'm not about to overwork my f*ckin self without help'....soooo what does that mean????? We just drove off and settled for Rally's ONCE AGAIN. Your staff is literally driving ppl to go to other places. Like YALL NEED HELP IN THIS LOCATION. SEND HELP, SEND HELP SEND HELP. Whether y'all are short staff or your ppl just don't care, either way this location has absolutely sucked since Covid....ONLY good experience is if you go during the day. Literally.

It was 3:00 and my daughter was jonesing for an after school nibble so we pulled into the nearest McDonalds to get her fed. The drive thru line wasn't too long - maybe 6 or 7 cars ahead of us, so we filed in and waited. And waited. And waited. The guy in the car ahead of us drove away long before he had a chance to order so we moved up one in the queue and thought we were golden. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually we ordered and after a 20 minute wait we received her nuggets and fries. We assumed the line inside wasn't any quicker because we saw folks going in, but no one was coming out. Her order was correct and the staff seemed friendly, it just wasn't "fast" food.

Just know, for this relationship to work, you're gonna have to drop your standards. Big time. 100%, without a doubt, they WILL screw up your order. Order water, you'll get something else, I guarantee it. They're too lazy to clean the inside, so they just say the dining is closed, so you can't sit and eat. Screwed my order up, and my buddies. Very disappointed in management. I ordered breakfast at 730am at this location. Started eating my food; I normally don't get dark drinks; but of course I wanted a strong drink. After drinking some of the drink; I notice a bug was inside the cup. Drove back to McDonald's spoke with the young lady in the window. The worker apologize and gave me a Sprite instead a manager asked the employee what happen then the manager stated oh ok and walked away. And we wonder why employees don't care about customer's food because they don't care. Please check your food before eating here.

I ordered a sausage egg McMuffin for breakfast, arrived to work, inspected my food as I always do. When I removed the top of the McMuffin this is what I .. I thought I was given a extra sausage, only to look closer it was the egg. I know you guys will not miss my business however, my hope is that you do right by your customers. I wish I could give them a zero rating, but the app won't allow. Staff was so unpleasant when you walked in. They didn't even welcome you in, first thing they said was do you have a vaccine card. I ordered a caramel frappe and the lid was overflowing and stuff was everywhere. The guy didn't even wipe the cup down or nothing. They need to close this location and put a Starbucks or Canes.... AVOID THIS LOCATION!!! I have had two experiences with this location. Each time, I was charged for food they didn't have, and was refused a refund. The first one happened in November! SIX MONTHS AGO! The second one happened last month. Each time the employees told me: "Well you shouldn't have ordered that." How am I to know what they have or don't have unless I'm told?!? My only option is to call corporate, and they pass the message along to the owners, whom I guess are so busy they haven't been able to respond to my request for half a year. I call corporate weekly and each week they tell me to call back the next week, maybe the "owners will get annoyed enough to call you." I hope so, but I doubt it. If this is any indication, this location cares more about money than its customers. I'd strongly encourage you to visit ANY other location and give them your money. Avoid this one.

I'm never really hungry for breakfast however, when I am I always happen to be in a rush. I'm not that good of a morning person when it comes down to preparation for my day. So when ever my body tells me I'm hungry, it's very rare. I just so happen to pass up this McDonald's on my way to school, and not only did I wait in line for 22 minutes for a sausage biscuit. I wound up walking in, and waiting an additional 5 minutes to get my money back because I was so fed up. This place has the worst service ever!

Drive down to the pick up window to tell them and try and place an order. NOPE. Too bad so sad. Gotta go around lady. The customers behind me were literally all leaving at the intercom. I was going to get a milkshake for a relative in the hospital who could only have liquids, I was told the machine was out of order and when I asked for a manager I was told they could not give me the managers name nor give me his name as he laughed while telling me this. This is unacceptable and pure laziness! If the machine is truly broken AGAIN- as it is every single time I've tried to get a shake or sundae then it's laziness on the management team for not having it properly fixed. The team members getting away with saying it's out of order is ridiculous as well.

I placed an order via the McDonalds mobile app, I waited over an 1 hour for food to be brought to my vehicle curbside. Spoiler I never received my order because the staff refused to acknowledge me parked in the designated curbside zone. Historically this restaurant is very disappointing. The staff lacks customers service. I submitted a complaint via the app & corporate website but I doubt the owners of the establishment care about this issue. My advice to the public do not order from this location.

If I could post lower than one star, I would. Sat in drive-through for 22 minutes before even getting to order window. Sat for another 14 minutes after ordering. Still 3 cars ahead of me before I could even get to the pay window. I just drove off. This is not the first time this has happened at this location. Thought after not coming here for awhile I would give it another chance. They're worse than ever. This McDonald's SUCKS. Do not come here, do not waste your time.

As far as McDonalds go, the food is pretty much the same in every one. However, I had the opportunity to go to this location on Saturday morning to pick up some breakfast sandwiches for the workers at my house. Upon entering I observed an unhappy customer who was tring to get his order corrected. He was confused about his receipt and IMHO had ordered incorrectly. However, when he came inside, to straighten it out, things only got worse. The casheir needlessly entered into a verbal altercation with him. The customer was a little confused about his order and a little upset at the price of orange juice. Perhaps he should have stayed home to eat. Nevertheless, all the cashier had to do was refund his money as the customer had requested. Instead, she began to speak in a loud tone so that everyone could hear her complain about the customer. The icing on the cake was that the manager was standing right next to her the entire time and did NOTHING to de-escalate the situation or to try and satisfy the customer. This was the worse case of restaurant management I have ever experienced.

This place is a total joke, even lower than what typically qualifies in the Banana Republic of New Orleans as "work." I place an UberEats order at 3:50, when it's still able to be placed, wait 50 minutes, call customer service for UberEats and listen to some person who can barely speak English tell me that the driver is in line at the drive-through (for 50 minutes?!?!). Then, twenty minutes later, I call again and another, even worse English speaker, tells me that the driver got to the window and was told, it's now breakfast only! Well, of course, it was an hour and ten minutes later! So much for fast food! Why did they accept the order if they weren't going to fullfil it??? Then, Uber Phone person tells me that the driver tried calling me several times, which is a total lie. No call came through on this phone. Oh, and while I'm at it, if you're at a McDonald's in New Orleans, you will learn that there is a phrase far more popular than "Who Dat'", "Lagniappe," or "Throw me Something Mister." Any visitor to a McDonalds in New Orleans knows that the most popular colloquialism of this city is, "The shake machine is down." Why even call yourself a McDonald's? Just label yourself a drug den and get over it because you're surely not serving food.

Stopped here on a recent trip to NOLA. Stopped in about 10:30pm on 4/5/2019. Received the most terrible service I've ever had! There was a mixup with our orders from an inexperienced cashier. The cashier had to keep calling the female manager over to help her void some items. Ok, that happens. We've ALL been new on a job (or bad at it-since I have no idea how long the cashier had worked there). That being said, I expected the manager, who was working the drive-through to come over to help after the second time needing to void an incorrect order. We we the ONLY customers inside. At this point we'd been inside for 12-15 minutes getting our order corrected and re-done.The manager and the cashier went back and forth with each other for awhile, and the manager told the employee " I heard you put in their order wrong" to the cashier. I had to step in. "Why didnt you tell her to fix it then? Or correct her?", I said. The manager's answer...."Sir, she was the one taking your order...not me". WHAT? That statement alone has got to be the worst answer I've ever heard from any manager or customer service professional.

I know not to expect a lot from McDonald's but when we walked in the employees were fighting and I thought for sure it was going to come to blows. The trash was over flowing and every table was dirty. There were only 2 customers while we were there so unless there was a mad rush 5 minutes before there should be no excuse for such a mess. And this was at 6 pm. Horrible overall experience.

Wish I could put a negative star for review. We literally just had the worst fries ever from McDonalds. I'm originally from California, and these fries bleed through the fry carton and the bag! I am so disappointed. All of the fries were soggy. Yo make it worst, I've tried to call back to let them know and they turned off all communication. It goes straight to voicemail. Worst service I have ever received from McDonald's. I am even going to stop my uber eats from them despite I've given decent food via the app. If you have the option, DO NOT COME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This restaurant is the most poorly run business I've EVER encountered!! - I asked to speak with a manager, there were NO customers in the store and they sent the cashier back out to tell me they wouldn't even listen to my complaint !!! WOW - can we get yelp to add negative stars !!

This the worst McDonald's! There's nothing fast about this fast food restaurant. I waited almost 20 minutes for my order in the fast food line.

This is the worst fucking McDonald's in New Orleans I ordered a 40pc chicken nuggets with a medium fry on DoorDash and it took 2 hours to get here mind you I stay literally 4 blocks away from the McDonald's...I was on the phone with the door-dasher and he said the line was long as fuck and it wasn't moving then when he got to the window the cashiers were rude as fuck.... Everybody on that nite shift needs to be fucking FIRED or close to whole fucking McDonald's and replace it with a Taco Bell, canes or something because this shit is ridiculous!
