Roswell McDonald's – Roswell, New Mexico - Gastro Obscura

"In the world-famous town of Roswell, New Mexico, known for the rumors of its titular extraterrestrial incident, the local McDonald’s gets in on the act as well with a UFO-shaped location that throws the homogeneous look of the fast food giant out the window. Not far from the supposed crash location, the fast food restaurant’s UFO-shaped exterior burns neon in the evenings and shines like space metal in the day. The interior of the “ship” holds the massive play place which is similarly space-themed, complete with the mascots in space suits. While there are a handful of McDonald’s around the world that go out of their way to fit in to their community despite the overwhelming influence of corporate conformity, few take it quite to this extent. However, in a city where everything (even street lamps and mail boxes) is inspired by tales of the Roswell Incident, the McDonald’s, as is their wont, fits right in. None" - S SemiruralYeti, YellowRose, chasepopt, Taterchips, SemiruralYeti, notoriousFIG, VanessaMontalbano, M Martin, springer, Martin, T Taterchips, h hollilane93, u uuxaul

Google
Amazing McDonald's I've ever visited. McDonald's matched the Roswell style of an aliens' spaceship. Amazing food, always the Big Mac. Service **Blows Kiss To Air** Amazing. Atmosphere was amazing, with a kids play place.

Diego Salinas

Google
Come on it’s a giant UFO McDonald’s. People complaining about cleanliness are insane. Just go for the gimmick, take a bunch of pictures, and eat a McFlurry. Plus they have a giant PlayPlace if you have kids. Negative reviews are just non-believers 👽🛸

Ramiro Calvillo

Google
A tad bit on the dirty side, but a MckyD's none the less. There are a few alien 👽 statues to take pics with and a giant one right next door at the Dunkin Donuts 🍩!!

Mari Adventures

Google
Came here from out of town just to see the only McDonalds that is modeled in a spaceship. This restaurant looks really cool and the food is very yummy. If you are in Roswell NM and looking for a bite to eat, come to the only alien ship to eat a good meal. Highly recommended.

Google
What a cool McDonald's! It's out of this world lol. Love that you still have the old McDonald characters displayed in the play place area! Visited from Michigan!

Jennifer Martin

Google
This is one of the strangest places I have eaten, but unique in it's own right. Restaurant was clean, neat and staff was friendly. I accidentally left my wallet here and had to come back. I was lucky that an employee found it and nothing was missing. Many thanks to the lady who found it!

Natkita Grisham-Casteel

Google
What a cool place! The McDonald's team works hard to keep the restaurant clean and tidy after- what I'm sure is a busy and frequently visited restaurant. One of the few McDonald's locations that we've visited that has a play area, but This is a must pop in side stop for sure!

Jonathan Franco

Google
All though there are thousands of McDonalds throughout the USA. Ain’t no place as interesting as this location here. As seen online this is alien/space themed and still has a working playground.

Yelp
Coolest McDonald's I've been to... the UFO theme is absolutely awesome; from the flying saucer shaped play area to astronaut Ronald and gravity defying Grimace! The offerings on the menu are also good. There's a green chile double cheese burger that's reasonably priced as well as a "basket" of French fries, again pretty reasonably priced. Combo meals are combo meals. Consistent as you would expect. The workers are friendly and professional, too. Patrons run the gamut, as one would expect in a tourist town. Overall, I would suggest a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
Now I love McDonald's, and this one was by far very cool. A themed UFO McDonald's is one to beat. Although there was no significant theme with the food other than a green chili McDouble which was good. They were skimpy with the fries but hey, I wasn't expecting 5 star service.

Yelp
Roswell is of course well known for the "UFO encounter" in the 1900s and this McDonald's pays tribute to that with the Playland area shaped like a flying saucer and a number of "aliens" scattered around the property looking for a BigMac or an Egg McMuffin. I was here twice, having breakfast in the morning with a large coffee and using the restroom. The restaurant is clean and the seating is comfortable. I had a chance to talk to a few of the "senior coffee" bunch who come in every morning and socialize. This McDonald's does have a wifi and it works well. There are even a few booths with power outlets. Parking lot is also clean and I had no trouble with my Sprinter van. [Review 17450 overall - 63 in New Mexico - 968 of 2022.]

Yelp
Got stabbed in A UFO! 4 Stars! Had a 20 piece mcnuggo with hot mustard. Late fry and a coke.

Yelp
What a fun stopover in rosewell. Known for their UFO and alien things. My 2 year old loved the playground in here. I mean McDonald's is basic but still such a fun place to stop by

Yelp
Do you care about the people in Roswell? Sheriff told you to let people shelter in place during the flood! You told them to leave? You should be ashamed!
google avatar

Yelp
I loved this cool spaceship McDonald's in Roswell and the fun alien decor. That is all.
google avatar

Yelp
Not reviewing the food here- you know what McDs has. This particular location however, truly stands out for a McD. Not only is it shaped like a space ship- in true Roswell fashion- but it also has a play place for kids. And to top it all off, I felt like the employees actually liked their job and were into it- truly unusual for a McDs!

Yelp
Roswell, New Mexico is the only place you will see that McDonald's UFO has landed. Even better that the flying saucer lights up at night. Visiting Roswell earlier this month, I just had to stop by this McDonald's and come inside. The play area unfortunately was not open due to the pandemic but it was really neat to see Ronald McDonald as an astronaut, Birdie riding in a French fry space mobile, Grimace wearing a Coke spacesuit and one of the fry kids inside a McFlurry spaceship. There is also a cute space mural facing the drive thru window. Please note that indoor dining was not allowed earlier this month when I visited but you had the option to come inside to order or order via drive thru (which there was a long line for every time we passed by. It was probably faster for us to order inside). Customer service was average, as what you would expect any McDonald and the food tasted the same. The only unique thing that McDonald's has in New Mexico that the McDonald's doesn't have back at home at my local McDonald's is the green chili burger. I didn't get that when I came in though, but instead got an apple pie (because my husband can't resist their pies). I like that McDonald's food is consistent in taste, regardless of what location you go to. I only came for the photos and my husband decided to get 2 apple pies. This location is definitely a fun one to stop at. And then when you are done, check out the Dunkin next door where you can see a giant alien holding up the Dunkin Donuts sign (who is currently wearing a mask).

Yelp
Only received 3 out of 6 items ordered. ALL COLD! Left in drive through for 10 minutes before I finally went in to get my wrong order! Use the one South of town...this one doesn't care about your order

Mikayla H.

Yelp
I waited 20+ minutes on curb side for two hamburgers and a fry.. then when I sent inside to ask how much longer, all the staff ignored me and helped people behind me. It wasn't even very busy.

Yelp
In Roswell, known for the rumors of its titular extraterrestrial incident, the local McDonald's gets in on the act as well with a UFO-shaped location that throws the homogeneous look of the fast food giant out the window. After visiting the UFO museum and space walk we headed to McDonald to take pictures. it is UFO-shaped and interior of the "ship" holds the massive play place which is similarly space-themed and have electronic table for board games for 4. We odered some icecream and nuggets and had great fun!

Yelp
It's a McDonald's, they do get into the alien craze. I found the restaurant to be clean and the employees to be friendly. This restaurant is on the main drive and it's easy to see on the way into town The parking lot is easy to get into and out of. The food is your normal McDonald's food The restroom was clean
google avatar

Irene Y.

Yelp
It's a must see in Roswell. The outside is shaped like a UFO. We went at nighttime and it was lit up. We just went to get cones and let the kids play in the indoor play zone. Visitors to Roswell come for the kitschy alien decor and this is one of them!
google avatar

Jo G.

Yelp
Loved the decor and the cool building. When it came to ordering I did it from the kiosk. I ordered the deluxe crispy chicken sandwich with a Powerade. The chicken was dry and it was hard to eat. The soda machines had no ice. How do you run out of ice????
google avatar

Amber Y.

Yelp
Food was standard McD's, but service was Lightning-fast!! Idk, maybe it there are aliens in the kitchen. All I know is we ordered three 20-piece nuggets and our food was at our table, hot and fresh, by the time we had all gotten our drinks. So fast, it was out of this world!
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
The spaceship design of the restaurant is very cool, and the inside alien/outer space decor is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, no dine in is allowed in New Mexico right now due to Covid, but you can go in and order for takeout. The food is standard McDonald's food, which is familiar and borderline comfort food. Sometimes hot, sometimes cold but never truly satisfying or memorable.
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
Great outdoor alien/space decor, with all of the old school McDonald's characters in outer space attire!
google avatar

Joanne H.

Yelp
We stopped in since no other eateries were open at 645am on a Saturday. Please at man sweeping out front greeted us. Clean bathrooms. Nice, clean, fun decor. Staff was attentive and friendly. Even posing with guests and aliens. This is a kiosk-order restaurant and it went flawlessly. Highly recommend. Thank you staff for doing it right. Oh, food was good too.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Iconic and unique decor, had to make the stop for our McDonalds favs and some photos! Staff was very nice and offered to take our picture.

Yelp
Last night I went to this restaurant. When I got my meal, I checked to make sure everything was correct then went to the utensils and condiments area. While there, an employee came over and suddenly took my meal saying nothing to me and then proceeded to give it to another guest there. If he thought that I took someone's meal, he should have spoken to me, not just abruptly come over and take my meal away. I would sincerely appreciate it if management would conduct an employee training on how to be respectful to customers to prevent an incident like this from happening again.

Mandy R.

Yelp
A truly out of this world experience! Ok, it's just a normal McDonald's with some kitschy alien decor - but how often do you see that?? It's definitely worth stopping by for a photo op. The play area also has a fun space theme if you're dining in with kids. Just FYI, no special menu items though. The alien theme is all that separates it from your run of the mill McDonald's.
google avatar

Paula K.

Yelp
FUN PLACE AND GREAT SERVICE. The Food is the same at most MC Donald's right? But this one was really fun! I loved all the little UFO fun for not only the kids but all of us. Love it when adults have a little fun too! Samantha took our order at the front register. When I got a happy meal for my grandson it didn't have the "raya" toy that we are collecting. I asked her if we could have that one. She looked and they were out. She took the time to run to storage and look to see if they have any there I couldn't believe she took the time to do that!!! She was awesome and to me that is GREAT customer service! PLUS...she gave us a little alien toy for the happy meal
google avatar

Daniel K.

Yelp
Manager was the best. He helped us out on our touchscreen order and oven went over the top when she accidentally spilled a cup of water and made her day. Other staff workers were equally pleasant. Clean and quirky, even if stopping in for ice cream and photos well worth it even if fast food isn't your thing :) 5/5 would def recommend!

Adaris O.

Yelp
Worst McDonalds ever, they forgot my buffalo sauce. like what the heck and like half the meal.
google avatar

Diana V.

Yelp
Parents can play too! Great service, I have 3 little ones! Rolled in with a double stroller and everything else lol! They kindly brought our food to the playground. Our food was hot and fresh! Will come here again, the kiddos had fun in their Indoor playground

Matthew G.

Yelp
This definitely was a pretty bad experience overall. In fact I'm only giving it a 1 star because the manager first asked me how I was doing and they told me to have a good day. The was ironic because the management was the same reason I had an anxious part of my day 5 minutes later. I had ordered with my family two large drinks which were fine, as well as an ice cream cone, an Oreo McFlurry, and a hot fudge Sunday. After ordering I sat down to reserve a table while my family waited on their ice cream. While sitting at the table I had a minor anxiety moment when a sea of around 20 maskless (still during the pandemic) employees came to the section of the McDonalds I was sitting in. It's gets worse when they didn't even acknowledge I was there. I heard a manager start their meeting which seemed odd considering they were busy and it was in the middle of the store. This made me so anxious sitting their I got up and left of anxiety and no one said anything. This led to me getting yelled at by my family for loosing our table which isn't really the McDonald's fault I got yelled at but it is their fault I lost the table since I was interrupted sitting at my table. But it gets worse, we waited a solid 15 minutes before the workers realized we still hadn't gotten our ice cream. Then they scurried to make it and when they did it was melty and gross. Apparently it didn't taste like their normal ice cream, but at least it wasn't broken, right? Overall my experiences wasn't great, and by the time we left about another 15 minutes after finally getting our ice cream, the management was still having a meeting with the employees!

Yelp
Great location! Not only does it look cool from the outside, but the inside is very futuristic and fun. The manager was present the whole time in the ordering area assist in gas and his team seem to be enjoying what they do. The green chili double cheeseburger was amazing. Super spicy just the way I like it! This location is out of this world!!!

Yelp
Cool building by day, even cooler building by night. And they have a Tesla destination charger. What more could you want? High fives and hugs to the franchisee that approved this charger. It's a lifesaver in this area of New Mexico. I've never been more happy to spend money at a McDonald's. Thank you.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a McDonalds. You know about the food. Same service you get just about anywhere. The restrooms were decently clean (4 out of 5 stars) which was good because we just swung through Roswell for a few photo ops on a cross country trip, and we needed some quick food and clean restrooms. When approaching the McDonalds, we immediately noticed that it was shaped like a Flying saucer. A creepy feeling came over us as the X Files theme began playing over our radio, possibly prompted by my searching for it on YouTube. I can neither confirm nor deny. With my kids standing in front of the flying saucer, they claim to have seen several green figures attempting to grab them. Somehow, they escaped. There is a very large play place inside of the saucer section of the restaurant, and is space themed. The kids loved the opportunity to run around for a short while before we got back on the road. When getting back into the car we all thought we heard a raspy voice claiming it would get us next time, and saw a strange green glow coming from the saucer.....

Yelp
At the end of our trip, we took the kids to this McDonald's and I met the most incredible man! He understood my lose and imparted great words of wisdom to my girls....the most amazing thing was; it was words their father told me when we first met! Brought me to tears! I think he was an Angel sent from God to share these words with my girls. Not to mention it was his 30 year anniversary much love to him and his wife! Thank you Frank Hyatt for ending our vacation with such amazing words....I know God put you in my path! Until we meet again my new friend, be blessed!

Yelp
I'm pretty much a two item person at a McDonald's: coffee and a sausage biscuit. That is all I'll order. I worked in a building on the night shift for 6 years. I was trapped with McDonalds. I tried all their stuff over time, anywhere from bland to yuck, except for coffee and the sausage biscuit. I suppose their 10+ ingredient French fries (some sites claim 19 ingredients!) are good in the first 5 minutes after frying, but they lose their flavor after that. I'm just not a McDonald's fan honestly, but give this one a 3 star because they do the UFO (really dumb) motif, which is normal for Roswell. They get an extra star for being creative. It is McDonalds.
google avatar

Courtney D.

Yelp
Happy Birthday to my best friend and my favorite person in the world. Everyday you know how to make so intemperately happy. You're so funny, ambitious, empathetic and loving. Whenever I see your cunning smile I can't help but wonder how I got so lucky. The universe is 13.8 billion years old, all the atoms that compose us, by chance or by greater design, somehow coalesced on March 3rd, 2016 and welded our paths together in a perpetual and passionate fire that will burn for the remainder of our lives. Five years may be a long time but it certainly isn't long enough. I hope your day is as bright and ebullient as you are. I love you

Yelp
1 star review for Gladys. Ordered two breakfast number 1 combos with iced coffees at 9:30. First, she rang them in as lunch/dinner combos and her coworker had to tell her that they were still serving breakfast. Second, she rang everything in separately so it cost 15 bucks and some change. I paid (stupid, I know!) and looked at the receipt. When asked about why it cost DOUBLE what the two combos should have cost she told us that you can't get Iced coffee wth the combo. WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US THAT WHEN WE ORDERED? I would have happily enjoyed a piping hot coffee for 50% off my entire bill. I think Gladys may have been high. Great theming and cool interior, but just another crappy Mcdonald's.
google avatar

D T.

Yelp
Cool McDonald's! Looks like a space ship! Inside playground had neat outer space theme. Clean place & fast service. Large parking lot. Nice rest rooms!
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
Fun! Usually I wouldn't write a review for a fast food place. But this one is space/UFO-themed and much more fun than the usual McD's. Around the drive-thru side there is a parking lot with an excellent mural where you can get some fun photos. Inside was busy and a little crowded, but restrooms were clean. Food was as good as any McDonald's. For people with kids (not me) there's a playground at this location. It looked pretty neat.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
As I wait on fresh coffee to brew.... I'm sitting here in amazement. Every staff member from the drive thru to the windows were friendly and demonstrated EXCELLENT customer service and smiles! (not to mention GLADLY started a fresh pot of coffee for me at almost 9pm!) The places even clean and looks inviting! This is me and my boyfriend's first time in Roswell. We're both from the southeast and are in the process of moving to Arizona, so it's been a long drive, but wow. I'm thoroughly impressed and McDonald's might've redeemed itself for me tonight! keep it up!

Charlie C.

Yelp
This is the most hospitable and friendly McDonald's we've ever been to. They work really hard to make sure they are treating every customer
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
I don't think there were enough flies in this place! Some of them decided to follow us out to the Jeep, too. No bueno! Burger undercooked as well. Giving two stars because I've never seen a greeter at a McD's before and she was quite pleasant.
google avatar

Avacodo A.

Yelp
Place was well kept and food came out moderately fast tasted pretty good they gave us a free pie for the wait
google avatar

Robbie W.

Yelp
McDonalds by mall. Stopped after shopping only to find cooks using their hands. With out tongs or gloves to make sandwiches and chicken. When asked about it the shift Maher stated she had them wash there hands until gloves are in. Hep A. Yuck

Judith P.

Yelp
Restaurant was empty, sign posted on wall communicated 28 people capacity due to covid but yet they did not allow us or anyone to dine in. Our kids were looking forward to the road trip and to visit the famous Roswell McDonalds.
google avatar

Gabe R.

Yelp
On our way back from Texas to California and wanted to see what Roswell was about and my wife and kids were excited to stop by the Mickey D'S that looks like a ufo but good Lord was it a mistake. Stepped in the restaurant and smelled horrific, as if someone puked and wiped it up with a mop that was previously used to clean a toilet that was filled with crap still and hasn't been washed for months. If I could give it negative stars I would. Couldn't even order food so I can't even comment on that.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
The kitsch factor can't make up for the bad service. The girl at the register was too busy playing with her tongue ring to listen to the order, which was disgusting to look at. And she was playing with her boyfriend the entire time anyone tried to approach the counter. The order was wrong in every way, I was WAY more acquainted with this girls nasty tongue and relationship than I ever wanted to be, and the spaceship theme was just kind of lame. The rest of Roswell was quaint and silly but this was just gross and tacky.
google avatar

Michele J.

Yelp
Tables dirty, playground closed, and nuggets were stale. We came 2 years ago and the experience wasn't any better.
google avatar

Yoli D.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat breakfast the sausaje burritos the big plate breakfast and hasbrowns and the delicious coffey wow!! Love MacDonalds.

Bree B.

Yelp
This is one of the best McDonalds I've ever been to. Although the tourist attraction area was closed due to Covid, the customer service was second to none. Frank, our cashier, was awesome, took our families picture and was so welcoming! All of our food was yummy and fresh.
google avatar

Jocelyn M.

Yelp
The service is really bad, the employees seem really bored and unhappy to be there it gives off an unhappy vibe not very welcoming at all and they continually mess up my order and I'm not picky at all, I just can't eat dairy so I order no cheese and I dislike pickles and what do they do put on some cheese and pickles cooks pay attention to the order!

Jen A.

Yelp
The cashier and the manager were very nice. The food was old and not great of course...what I usually expect from McDonald's. Now the ghetto locals who stand around and hangout in the parking lot is just scary. The locals seem to be a bunch of young wannabe thugs who think they have awesome cars yet driving around in a nissan. They almost ran myself and family over "trying" to be cool. There were also older teenage girls cussing and going threw the playplace.... This place could be a really cool and a great tourist spot, but the locals really kill it. They made me definitely think twice about visiting NM again.
