Google
Okay, being a Louisiana native, with a dad who does swamp tours himself... I found myself enthralled by this place. I recently went with my son on his field trip, I think I was more excited than he was. Great information, I will be honest some of which I didn't know... Skip was our boat captain. He was hilarious, very engaging, hip to the kids lingo... 6.... 7.... 😉, but more than that he was fun! Of course my son wanted keepsakes from the store. We purchased several items, including a slingy, 2 squish toys, and I think a pen for 10 something. Totally shocked me.

Google
This was a fantastic tour. Captain Skip was so cool and informative. He told us all about the history of the area along with tons of information about the animals in the water we were exploring. We had so much fun and got to see so many different things. Definitely the icing on the cake of our trip to Louisiana.

Google
I booked this swamp tour for our out of state visitors to get a real Louisiana experience, and we were not disappointed! I have lived here all of my life, had never done this tour before, and now am questioning why. How could I live so close to something so cool, and never have experienced it? Just BOOK IT, you won’t be disappointed! I took 5 boys age ranged 10-13 and they enjoyed seeing all the alligators and the Asian Carp jumping out the water. We felt 100% safe, and well informed. We arrived 30 min before tour time as instructed and had a smooth tour experience. After the tour, we decided to have lunch at this awesome little bar & grill not far away called Turtle’s. Looking forward to booking again in future!

Google
We are from Baton Rouge and have been on tours before but this one was probably the best. Skip was informative, entertaining, and brought you up close to some nice wildlife. Tour lasted about 1.5hrs and we really enjoyed it.

Google
My father and I rented a canoe and had a blast working our way through and around the swamp. The women working in the shop were as friendly and welcoming as can be! Next trip we look forward to taking a guided tour for sure; would love to hear straight from the source about the area.

Google
What a great experience! We took the airboat tour and what a blast! We had a fun filled ride with really cool places we stopped and learned about the history of the place as well as conservation efforts being made to protect it. Guide was really informative and made it an interactive experience. We will be back and highly recommend it to you! One thing more, please call if your going to cancel! We had several no shows and that really hits them hard. Gas is expensive now and they could work around that with notice. Be considerate always!!

Google
We did a swamp tour with Captain Skip and it was the absolute highlight of our whole trip across the US. He is a great guy and knows so much about the area and the gators and he is really passionate about them. He knows the best spots to find the gators and feeds them in an ethical way so they do not become dependent on the extra food. We even saw gator Hank the Tank, he was massive! 100% recommend!!!

Google
What a fantastic swamp tour we had as a family. Learned about the culture, history, the nature, and the tour guide is the most kind-hearted person, ever! Great with the children, tremendously patient, and caring. When he noticed my little one was sad, because she didn't had a chance to steer the boat. He took the time to cheer her up by allowing her to take the wheel. It's definitely worth it. Family oriented venue.

Yelp
Awesome tour of the swamp basin. Saw birds, alligators, and the angry Asian Carp jumping at the boat. Our guide, Skip (or was it Kip?) was the best. Super informative, lots of stories about the history and his family growing up on the swamp, and a super nice guy. Not sure there is a swamp related question he couldn't answer. Our group was about 40 and we had the big boat. Highly recommend and would have no problem doing it again!

Yelp
Such an awesome experience!!! The swamp tour was loads of fun, educational, interesting, and so so cool! It was an hour and a half and about a 6.5 mile loop around the Atchafalaya Swamp. The guide was awesome and made such funny jokes. He seemed like he truly cared about the swamp and the alligators living in it. It was so cool to see him feed the gators and very cool to see them come to him when he called for them. I highly recommend this tour for everyone.

Yelp
So much fun! Tour was a great experience, tour guide was friendly & had a great personality. The little shop has cute souvenirs & a few snacks. If you step out to the back porch of the shop, there's a bench area for a photo op.

Yelp
A couple of my coworkers and my husband and I went to McGee's Air Boat and Swamp Tours in March 2025 and we had THE best time! Took a swamp tour out in the Atchafalaya Basin. Our guide's name was Skip and he was FANTASTIC. he was a wealth of knowledge! He talked about the basin and all the wild life. Got to see a couple of alligators and Skip even fed them. Weather was perfect (no skeeters !)I would highly recommend a tour and ask for Skip! He talked the whole time!! . We went at 3pm so the gators were hungry at that time.

Yelp
Traveled to southern Louisiana the first week of November and stayed in Broussard.  Our adventures began with an airboat ride through the swamp. We were referred to McGee's Swamp Tours and I can say that it was not only a grand ride but our tour guide, Armond, was extremely informative on many subjects with a broad knowledge of the swamp, the local area, and would stop several times, during the hour and half boat ride, to explain the history and to point out the critters that inhabit the swamp.  He was a character who not only drove the airboat but we also found him to be very entertaining...and as my wife described him, "younger looking from a distance".  We also had a personal meeting with his pet alligator, who indulged us as we stopped for a visit, by surfacing and swimming up to and along the edge of the boat. We were advised to keep our seats, that no petting was allowed, nor should we encourage any bad behavior such dangling any fingers or toes over the side.  It was an exciting experience made even more exciting as our boat transversed the surface of the water at a speed that made you glad you remembered to wear your sunglasses for eye protection.  No bugs...let me repeat that...No bugs!! It was a fantastic experience and one I would encourage everyone to find the time to do...at least once. The airboat ride is very reasonably priced, as mentioned the tour guide is a colorful character but very professional and conscious of passenger safety.  You find everyone involved to very friendly and helpful. I endorse McGee's Swamp Tours.  You get a pulse pounding but extremely safe airboat  ride...and you learn something too.  Thanks McGee's.

Yelp
We took a swamp boat tour with Captain Skip, who is fantastic and his knowledge of Louisiana history and ecosystem. Highly recommend! There was a mixup in booking and we arrived thinking we were going on an airboat. So thankful for the mistake because we absolutely loved the swamp boat tour with Skip.

Yelp
Great tour! Super friendly and knowledgeable guide. I'd definitely recommend McGee's! Saw a few gators up close, along with some other wildlife. Great day!

Yelp
Came here on the 23rd with my dad I have been on a swamp tour before this one was great ,sad the alligators were brumating but we saw some babies and the tour was very informative and the airboat ride was great!

Megan V.

Yelp
GREAT TIME! Skip was our tour guide, passionate, (got along great with my dad) and really explained the history of the swamp. Got to see plenty of gators. Hank was my favorite gator. Alligators are my favorite so I had a really good time.

Yelp
DON'T MISS IT!! I wish I had taken more photos, but the Swamp Tour was so engrossing, fun, informative and exciting that I totally forgot! From start to finish... the staff was wonderful. Skip, the skipper, was a Wealth of interesting, funny and serious facts about the Swamp and its remarkable creatures (which we saw many of)! He loves the Swamp and it's obvious! I learned so much about so many things! Don't miss this exceptional experience!

Yelp
Did not enjoy the tour. Tour guide would get upset when we asked a question. Apparently had a rehearsed speech. Went in December with two small children. Tour guide could have driven slow, but deliberately went fast and we froze our butts off. We paid for 1.5 hours, but got 1 hour. We couldn't wait to get off the boat. Find another outfit. The airboat is overrated. I've had a night to sleep on the experience and can't believe how unprofessional the tour guide in the yellow jacket was. I'm from southern Louisiana and wanted my family to experience a nice time cruising the Atchafalaya, but this guy was a complete A-HOLE. On multiple occasions he let us know how hard his life was, and apparently resented everyone else. Seriously, I'm with my wife, a 10 year old and 6 year old. Stop doing the tour if you are pissed off at the world. Embarrassing. Just want to forget this ever happened.

Yelp
Papa Noel and his elves were fabulous. The kids were enchanted by the whole experience. The reading of the "Twas the Night Before Christmas", the alligator petting, the cookie sweets, the photo with Papa Noel, seeing wildlife from the boat, singing Christmas songs, and the hands-on ornament creation. Pleasant experience for the grandchildren.

Yelp
McGee's is very well known down in the south for providing the friendliest and most informative stamp tours. Very large boats that can accommodate any size group. I am excited to finally be able to review because last night we took a very special tour. Atchafalaya Amour Tour. This tour is offered during the month of February, with many available dates. Includes dinner, drinks, a sunset tour and live music. My husband and I had brisket, but there was also a fettuccini available. Came with a side of corn grits, and a dinner roll. Dessert was bread pudding. All of the food was delicious and you had your choice of red or white wine. Very nice wines! Food was really tasty, not just your typical plate lunch type of stuff. There was a young woman perched in the corner with a guitar, and at first, we thought it would be such a great casual touch. We were completely blown away by this young woman's voice! It sounded like she was on stage with a microphone, professionally. She was simply brilliant and played a very diverse genre of songs. Her voice was never overpowering and was the perfect backdrop to this romantic evening. The boat captain walked around and made sure everyone was comfortable and struck up conversations with us. The surrounding area was beautifully lit by the lights of the boat during the entire experience. Some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see is in the swamp! I see that I've already said enough, but could probably never say enough about this wonderful experience! Friendly staff, ease of access, all around first class experience!

Yelp
Wow! Awesome time with the family. I saw a couple of gators, beautiful birds, and the wonderful swamps of LA. The tour guide was extremely accommodating and very knowledgeable of the area. Surprisingly, the tour was peaceful and felt like a relaxing time to disconnect. I would recommend to go during April -September to see bigger gators

Yelp
We recently (September 2023) toured the Atchafalaya swamp with Cal of McGees Swamp tours . Our experience was exquisite and well worth the price of admission . Cal is a true Acadian , I mean to the bone. He's knowledgeable of the swamp and it's shows he's a true native swamper. The wild life was plentiful and Cal has a great relationship with the gators . If your considering taking a tour just do it , it's a blast and I guarantee you will want to do it over and over again. By the way Cal, to the lady who stated the Spanish moss and pine apples are distantly related, it's true , just as humans and flies are. Both are plants and both are animals!...thanks for the ride

Yelp
We take my sons 15U baseball team while in town for a tournament. We all had a great time. Our skipper was fantastic. Learned so much about the swamp. When booking Kat was super friendly. I highly recommend.

Yelp
So fun fact; my family is from Louisiana, and this trip was all a part of meeting them and seeing my heritage. Alright, so right off the bat - I'll let you know that Louisiana is very, very humid so just keep that in mind. So to the swamp tour... We had an incredibly friendly guide that showed us around the bayou. We did get to see an alligator, but we didn't get to feed one on the tour :( But, you are able to bring drinks out there and we got to go out on an airboat. You do have to call in advance to reserve a spot for the tour, but it's totally worth it to be on an airboat in the LA humidity. Overall, the bayou is gorgeous. Oh do have the off chance of seeing an alligator but even if you do (or don't) you will see a bunch of other wildlife as well. Snakes, eels, turtles, owls you name it!

Yelp

Yelp
I very much enjoyed the laid back and helpful attitude of the staff here. I rented canoes and we did a self guided paddle. It was amazing!

Safira E.

Yelp
This tour was my first swap tour and I really enjoyed it! It's great for anyone that easily get motion sickness and need to go at a slower pace. I'm not that person but I still enjoyed the tour! Easy directions to find the location, very good cost, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! If you are in town, it's a must that you check them out!

Jessica P.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! We had so much fun!!! Thank you to the whole crew at McGees for the history of Atchafalaya basin and the Cajun culture! We had a better time here than in any tourist area! A peace of me just wants to stay in Henderson forever. Thank you for being a part of these memories and thank you to our amazing tour guide Orman! He and his "book" taught us so much about the basin and people and we couldn't be more thankful than to have experienced it with him! Hoping to see y'all someday soon for that party boat tour and if you ever come to California, send us a message on Instagram! Much love from "babygirl" - The Torres Family

Yelp
We rented a canoe for two hours to paddle around the lake, it was beautiful, quiet and otherworldly. The staff was really helpful and provided everything we needed including a map of our route. I highly recommend McGee's Tour.

Yelp
Great tour. We were unable to see alligators, because it was too cold. However the tour was very educational, friendly, and fun and Captain Skip was a blast. Everyone was nice and professional from the awesome young woman in the front and ending with wonderful Captain Skip

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went on an airboat ride and it was awesome! Our guide was Rick. He was amazing!!! He was very knowledgeable and sooo kind! He helped us getting on/off the boat due to some personal walking limitations. Also a big thanks to Destiny at the front desk, she was very friendly and helpful!! I highly recommend McGees tours!!
google avatar

Leann S.

Yelp
Hella fun!! Everyone was wonderful the check in, the Jell-O shots, the friendly locals at the bar and them hungry gators!! Craig was the best tour guide and when he looked out over the swap and said "how 'bout all dat beauty.", you could see how much he loves this lake. Wonderful wonderful wonderful.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! We did the tour with Court...he was so knowledgeable; and shared great information on the swamp's history. Gators came right up to the boat; and let Court pet them. Unbelievable. Hands down recommend to all!!

Libby H.

Yelp
Captain Skip was an amazing tour guide! He made the experience so much fun and was very educational as well. You can tell he's passionate about what he does and made us all appreciate the area so much more. Definitely recommend going on a tour!!

Stacey B.

Yelp
Our captain Skip was awesome! Lots of great info on the area and wildlife. We were able to ask lots of questions. The adults and kids each had a great time. I would definitely recommend this tour!!

Donald S.

Yelp
My wife and I recently went on an airboat tour with our captain, Cort Calais. He answered our questions and provided a wealth of information about the swamp. We saw a few alligators one of which was about 13 feet long. The tour was even better than we expected. We highly recommend this fantastic experience. Cort's recommendation for a place to have lunch was a bonus. The lunch there was super!

Sara K.

Yelp
Found them online and booked a swamp tour. Didn't know much about them - but will definitely be back. Miss Kat was a breath of fresh air and the skipper was GREAT. He was full of knowledge about the swamp, The people, and EVERYTHING Cajun! The tour was informative and VERY entertaining...great way to spend our afternoon.

Brett O.

Yelp
My fiancé, Mom, Aunt, and my self went on the Atchafalaya swamp tour on an airboat rude today. According to the McGee's website the airboat ride is 90 mins long, however this was not the case with our airboat ride today. Instead of starting the tour at the 11:00am as scheduled. The tour guide informed us that we had to wait for the other passengers who had not yet arrived. At 11:11am I stepped off the dock and onto the airboat. Instead of extending the tour by 11 min the tour guide actually ended the tour early. Instead of bringing us back at 12:30pm as scheduled, we arrived back to the dock at 12:20pm. 20 min by itself may not seem like a huge loss. But when you multiply that by 4 people, that's a total of 80min that my group got shorted. When we stated our grievances customers service was extremely poor. Our group was told that because it was over 60 min there was nothing that could be done. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING.
