This place has the potential to be something special. However it lacks on the basics. I have stayed here twice now, and contacted McGrorys directly 2 weeks ago with issues from my stay. To date I have yet to receive so much as an acknowledgement so I am putting a review here.||The first stay was September, and I was charged twice. I explained at receiption that it was pre paid due to being via living social, but due to no signal and not being offered wifi to prove same, I was billed a second time. When I got wifi in the room I went down to show the girl at reception proof of purchase, whereby Scott was then called out to help with a refund. His response was "well we don't normally have prepaid bookings" We were then woken at approx 7.30am the next morning to drilling. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.||We then went for 2 nights in December. The first night the food was absolutely beautiful, and we were told a michelen chef was down from Dublin to provide training. However, my partner ordered a bottle of wine, and 20 minutes later in the middle of his meal, had to go looking for it as it had been forgotten.||I requested prosecco and was served a very sweet drink resembling shloer. I was advised on highlighting this that it was champagne I was given and the drink rectified. Now, I have never had sweet champagne in my life so I know that was a cover up. We then requested a bottle of the proper prosecco and were told no as they were running low so it was only by the glass.|Later that night I was once again served the shloer like drink.||The second night the food was just not good. I ordered crab cakes, which came out teaspoon sized and freezing cold! Had I known they were miniscule and served cold I would never have gotten them. My partner had monkfish and while tasty was very small for the price.|Breakfast on the morning of departure was inedible, the egg was burnt at the bottom and still raw at the top. ||This place is lovely. The rooms are cosy, the staff are all so lovely. But all very young with no senior figure in place. The food sadly is hit and miss, but when it is right it is incredible! |Once again it has the potential to be something special, but it needs some serious refining.
