Recently reopened under new management and a great improvement. Called in for lunch and a pint of Guinness after walking the dog. Food was exceptional and the bar is now dog friendly. Having given up on this bar a few years ago it's great to see it re-open with a totally new approach. Well done.

We took family from overseas to McGorys for dinner. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpfully. The food was beautiful. All the fish is sourced locally. |We were informed there would be traditional music the following evening. We returned the following to hear the music in the old traditional bar.|Overall we all enjoyed both visits to McGorys will definitely visit again.|Sharon - Co Kildare

We went to mcgroys for dinner on Sunday we had heard it had been taken over this can be a good thing mostly on arrival we were greeted by the manager she was a bit sharp but it was busy so we understood she showed us to the table and one of the waitresses came and took our order which took approximately 45 minutes to come I had ordered the crab ravioli which was very nice until almost every mouthful I got a piece of crab shell not good I I told the waitress about this when we were finished eating the manager came over and said I understand you got some shell in the ravioli grinning at me and said sorry about that and walked away. If she had said have a drink on us or take something of the bill this would have been a much better review I have to say the waitresses were very good the manager not so much would I go back proberbly not

We had dinner for 12, with 7 of those being <13. All the food was exceptional. I had the fish n chip & have not had such lovely, light and crispy battered cod in decades, it was fabulous!! The kids ate everything (always a good sign) and the portions were generously sized! Great friendly service and value for money! If we're ever here again, we'll stop again!

A very busy restaurant. The food was good. The fish Chowder was delicious. The steak cooked well. The vegetarian roast dinner was simply boiled vegetables!

Just had the most amazing Sunday roast, tender succulent meat, vegetables cooked to perfection, friendly staff very attentive but not too much all for under 40 euro. We'll be back, would love to stay overnight.

Stopped for bit of lunch at mcgrorys culdaff. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The bar and restaurant are beautifully kept and comfortable. But ... we ordered the beef bourginon and a house salad advertised as having falafel and feta cheese, with tea and coffee. The beef was lovely, but the sauce a bit light on flavour. Overall it was good. The salad that came out was not the one ordered, being a mix of leaves tomatoes and dressing. When we asked about it they checked what we ordered then said it would be out shortly. It did not arrive even though we waited. So in the end up we left somewhat dissatisfied. The lunch cost €41.70.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch on a rainy July day. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered a mussel appetizer. It was something like 13€ but it was a serving big enough for a meal. The mussels were locally harvested so the6 were really fresh. A great deal! My wife had a vegan curry rice dish which was excellent as well. Forgot exactly how much it cost but it was good value as well. We were pleasantly surprised they actually had a vegan dish on the menu.

Yelp
We arrived at 7pm the bar was buzzing but restaurant empty. We weren't planning on a three course meal but the menu was very appealing. Setting: Very nice, spacious with bare stone walls and tea lights everywhere which was very cosy! We had intended only to have a starter or light snack but the bar was full (buzzing) and no available seating for our party of 4 so we tried the restaurant-It was a Sunday evening and we had the whole place to ourselves- I love it when this happens, it makes me feel like a celebrity! :) Food: Very difficult to please all four of us as we have such different tastes but this restaurant was fabulous. Lovely range of foods and extensive wine list catering for a wide variety of tastes- all well priced. (Two courses for 25€ ; three courses 29€) My main was salmon and hake - well cooked and flavorsome, sides came included (veg, potato and chips) Staff: Waiting staff were helpful but not intrusive. I'd have liked more help / recommendation with the wine choice.

Yelp
We had a group of 11, ages 25-75, on a Saturday evening. Staff was warm and accommodating. Delicious dinner, served hot. Food is homemade with locally grown ingredients. Live music started around 9:30-10PM. McGrorys has top notch music acts all year round. We didn't stay at the hotel, but rooms are clean, comfortable. An authentic Irish pub and much more!
