I'm not even sure where to start with this place. Let me first say that Ellie, the innkeeper, was very friendly and accommodating, and I give her 5 out of 5 stars all around. However, there were a few things about this place that I didn't like. We stayed one night in the East room and one in the West. The decor is outdated, by like 40 years, but that's not really a huge deal. The rooms have no TV, no internet available, and for me, no cell service. There is no kitchenette, although there is a mini fridge available in the common areas downstairs for guest use. The closest dining is at minimum a 15 to 20 minute drive in either direction, and the options are limited and close at 7 to 8 pm. This was kind of a problem the whole time we were there. The West room is almost twice as expensive as the East, and includes a larger bed and a nice Jacuzzi tub and bathroom overlooking the river. I really didn't enjoy staying in this room, however, because the hot water heater is not capable of sustaining a bath in this tub, which is the whole reason we paid extra for the room. My boyfriend was able to take a somewhat warm bath at around 5pm, and then after a bit of a guilt trip from myself about how the whole point of getting the room was to have a romantic bath together, we tried to refill the tub around 10 for a joint soak, we got room temperature (at best) water, and didn't even bother getting in. The next morning at 9 there was about 3 minutes of sustained hot water for a shower before it turned cold, so once again, we didn't even bother trying to take a bath. The only other guest staying in the building had checked out at around 6am, allegedly, so I can't really imagine a legitimate reason for the lack of hot water. This other hotel guest, by the way, had spent the later part of the evening banging on the walls of her room, for reasons unbeknownst to us, until at 9:30 the innkeeper came knocking on our door to tell us there were complaints from the woman next store that we were being too loud. I feel as though if the old building can't support two guests talking at normal levels without throwing the guest next door into a hiss, than there is a serious problem. We skipped breakfast the next day to avoid having to sit across from whoever the other guest was, All in all, this trip would have been much nicer if there were dinner options nearby, or a way to prepare food on site, and if the room had been a bit more modern, the walls weren't paper thin, and if the jacuzzi tub was actually capable of being filled with hot water. It was kind of a bust, although the property site along the river does provide for a great view, and as I mentioned earlier, the innkeeper was a very nice woman, so nice in fact that I feel pretty guilty leaving a less than stellar review.
