So cool-! Great history and beautifully decorated in the era. Themed rooms are super fun. Restaurant is fabulous. Great location. Loved the pool. Not a huge fan of the shared bathroom but it lends to the historical accuracy of the hotel. Would’ve loved yea or coffee in the room come morning. Will definitely come back-! The crows in the trees across the street were bonus-!

I stayed Tuesday and Wednesday night, this week. Everyone was helpful and accommodating. Even the front desk person that brought me all new blankets and pillows bcuz my grandchildren played all over everything while still soaked from the pool. We are definitely a family with a lot of character, yet no one judged and we truly appreciate that.Ty to the staff, you made my stay peaceful. I will definitely come back again. 😌

Overall great experience. A bit of a musty smell that they should mitigate, but not a deal breaker. Minus one star. Room was clean and cozy. Pool looked pretty fun. Food at Hal's Cafe was good and so were the drinks at the Annex. Nothing was going on in the Crystal Ballroom, so missed out on that.

I loved this cute hotel and am so glad we stayed here! The music theme is fun with each room named after a song whose lyrics are painted around the walls inside, and I loved the room decor. We did the shared bathroom option, and it barely even felt like it wasn't private. There were four bathrooms on the floor, each single room with a nice shower, and the one across the hall from us was almost always open (the few times it wasn't, one of the others was free). We also had a sink in the room anyway. The hallways are very dim but I liked that vibe, and the window in our room was so huge that it let in tons of light during the day.||The pool in the basement was awesome! It's really just a gigantic hot tub. Only one other person was down there at night when we swam. Restaurant was ok, food nothing to rave about. My one complaint is that we bought the nightcap package which gives $30 of evening bar/restaurant credit, and they wouldn't let us combine them to use our two nights of credit together. By the time we got back at 10 PM the second night and wanted to use our credit for drinks, the bar had just closed and they didn't offer us any alternatives, so that was a waste of money. So don't do the package deal, it's not worth it, but the hotel itself is great value. Also awesome location and an easy walk to all the main city sights and even Washington Park. The only time we ubered was the one evening we crossed the bridge to East Portland.

Decided to spend Christmas in Portland, Oregon. Nothing better than staying at a McMenamins’ hotel. Great location, fun place, in house brewery, good restaurant, hot indoor pool was more of a huge hot tub. The king rooms are awesome. Ours had a great view too. Lots of things to see and do in a walkable location.

Another great McMenamin's hotel. There was a musty smell inside, hence I knocked one star off. Otherwise, it felt clean and nice. The room was adorable as usual. So much fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. We parked in the Whole Foods parking garage for security because it closes between midnight and 5am. No problems! It is about 1 1/2 blocks away, but McMenamin's has a 3 car length loading/unloading zone right in front of the entry so it works out well to take bags up to the room and then park the car and walk back empty handed! Parking there for just under 15 hours (overnight) was $26.

Wonderful heritage hotel with tons of history. Each room is decorated in the theme of a song of a rock band that played the Crystal Ballroom. Hot pool in the basement is lovely. We got the beautiful Heart of Glass. Brunch at Hal’s Cafe was delicious. Kay at the front desk was super friendly and helpful.

This review is primarily to call out the excellent service that Kay provided us when checking in. We used a booking site to get a room, and apparently certain booking sites make things rather challenging to change. When I asked for a room swap, Kay went above and beyond to make it happen -- surmounting the insurmountable, bypassing the barriers, and providing excellent professional support along the way. I really appreciated her patience and willingness to accommodate my request, and wanted to make sure this was reflected in my review. Also, the rooms are gorgeous and the hotel is centrally located.
