We went all the way to the top for the Wonderful views, and the service was sparse, even though there was lots of staff available while our waitress was very helpful. The rest of the staff were very nonchalant about wanting to assist us on anything, the drinks at this chain are always three out of five stars, and we ordered tater tots as a appetizer, we decided after waiting for 45 minutes for the tater tots that it was probably not worth it, I would go up and have a drink here again on the rooftop for the views but other than that, the place seems to be lacking in service

Can't speak on the rooms. Rooftop bar is cool for sure. If you are just going for food, I'd probably pass. Not "bad", but the burgers are very pricey, but aren't very big and basically taste like any Denny's, IHOP or village inn burger. 18 bucks for a burger is steep. Waitress was great, it's cool looking. But if your just looking for food, I'd probably pass

Went here for lunch. Beautiful day on the rooftop. Had the captian neon burger always our favorite. Only bummer is I wanted the double IPA and it was downstairs and they couldn't get it and I didn't want to go down and back up with 2 beers. Other than that great food awesome location. Highly recommend

Great location in the middle of wine country, restaurants, and shopping. We could literally walk outside and into a shop, restaurant or wine tasting. The history on the walls added to the delightful experience. Staff and strangers were engaging.

Can't beat the atmosphere of course. Too many spicy options for the wife's liking. Crab mac n cheese needed salt. Staff was great, especially front desk girl in the acherontia shirt.

Wonderfully welcoming, friendly, and accommodating staff made my solo stay (with my Pugs) so comfortable. 5⭐️star customer service! I love the vibe. I love the art. They serve delicious food and cocktails. There’s so much fun and whimsy to enjoy in town of McMinnville.

So much cool art everywhere. If you don't have one yet, buy the passport then explore all the McMenamins properties. Like this property, many are gems of historic preservation, given a new life for a new generation. Experience every nook and cranny while you are here, really explore.

Absolutely adored this place! Get to the rooftop and enjoy stunning views! There’s a bar and restaurant upstairs most don’t even think about checking and miss out on the whole experience! Food was superb. One of the best elk burgers I’ve had. Drinks were great to and a very hospitable staff. Don’t miss out!

Yelp
It's been years since we've visited McMinnville and Hotel Oregon. We decided to stay for one night just before the Christmas holiday. We arrived about 5pm and checked in at the front desk where we grabbed a cart to get our luggage to our room. After unloading in the 20 minute zone, we parked in the free parking garage about a block down the street. Built in 1905, and originally known as Hotel Elberton, it remains the tallest building in downtown McMinnville. The interior is decorated with relics of the towns history and the 1950 UFO sighting. Today, it looked just as we remember, we approximate the last time we walked through the halls and visited the various bars was 2015 ish. Here we are 10 years later and it appears they do a very good job of maintaining the property including everything from general maintenance, painting, functioning elevators, quaint bars and restaurant spaces and the overall cool, eclectic vibes that McMenamin's properties are known for. We were also reminded that Hotel Oregon serves as the official center of the annual UFO festival which we were told brings in as many as 30,000 visitors! Our room, the Ollie Ruffner White, was a dedication to the original patriarch, Ollie White. She married her childhood sweetheart, Tom White in 1890 and the couple headed west to Oregon landing in McMinnville in 1892. There they raised three children. When they opened the hotel in 1905, the family of five moved into rooms on the second floor. The room was clean and comfortable, however, we noted we are not used to staying in historical properties where the room sizes are cozier, counter space simply does not exist, and modern amenities like TVs and desks for laptops, etc. just aren't available. Therefore, our recommendation is this makes for a fantastic weekend getaway, where you can pack light and enjoy your weekend exploring the area. We did find it a bit difficult to have 7 days worth of belongings including gifts for our holiday trip with us in a small space. We did sleep well, and it was very quiet, which was appreciated. Main Street was decorated beautifully for the holidays, which made this extra special. There are plenty of local shops, restaurants, and well over 200 wineries in the region that make this a great weekend getaway spot.

Yelp
Great place to stay when in McMinnville. Clean, reasonable and a great restaurant downstairs that whips up a great breakfast. Longe in the VERY bottom of the Hotel is worth checking where one can also sort through a stack of old 33 LP albums and put them n the turntable to listen and chill to! Rooftop restaurant outside dining was fun as well!

Yelp
I know that McMenamins food and brews can occasionally be divisive for people, but most people seem to agree that their hotels are top notch experiences. Although we didn't stay overnight (this time) at Hotel Oregon, we received a pretty complete tour of the grounds in the search for our passport stamps, and I can say that once again, my wife and I were very impressed, and look forward to staying here in the future. Despite popping in to the front desk a total of five separate times (once for each stamp), the woman working the counter was wonderfully friendly and gracious. A couple of the smaller bars were closed during our hunt, but we were able to take in the charming, always quirky McMenamins aesthetic throughout, dined in both the ground floor pub and the rooftop bar, peeked into a couple rooms being (sic?), and enjoyed strolling and shopping along the conveniently adjacent 3rd street downtown district of McMinnville. Visitors to this surprisingly endearing town would be hard pressed to find better lodgings.

Yelp
All McMenamins establishments are a must-see, and Hotel Oregon is no exception! We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful historic hotel. Every room has its own personality and feel. The walls are thin, so if you are a light sleeper, this might be a bit difficult as you can hear the creaking and chatter of fellow visitors. We stayed in the King room with a private bath, which was marvelous! The hotel is UFO-themed, as there was a sighting in this quaint town years ago. Keep a watch for the hidden UFO art in the hallways!

Yelp
After dinner at a place down the block, we stopped in for a drink. Walking in, the downstairs was pretty cool looking. The bar inside wasn't opened but the rooftop bar was. This was kind of cool and we hopped on the elevator to go up to the top. It had a neat view of the small town, but going near sunset was a bit much. We had a drink at the bar to end the evening and headed back to our B&B. I'm not sure if I'd go back again as nothing had a wow factor, but it's a good place to stop if you're in the area.

Yelp
Gorgeous location in McMinnville, Oregon with a wonderful rooftop bar. Unfortunately it's also one of the more expensive McMenamins locations. So, when they rush and cut corners its quite disappointing. My wife was excited to try a new raspberry seasonal salad with goat cheese, hazelnuts and a Ruby-raspberry vinegrette. Sadly, it had more hazelnuts than it did greens and was so overdressed it was nothing but a dripping mass of soggy salad. Very disappointing. I'm vegan so there are only a few options for me to eat at McMenamins and so I rely on their Mystic 18 burger a lot when we eat at one of their locations. The Mystic 18 at Hotel Oregon was one of the worst ones I've had. It was very dry, the cheese was cold (and as we know, cold vegan cheese is not fun!), and the patty was gray and anemic, looking barely cooked. The rooftop bartender Steve was the saving grace for our meal. He makes a mean drink, my wife enjoyed her Summertime Tea immensely, and he was a very funny dude. If not for him and the fantastic view, this would have been a 3 star instead of 4. If visiting here for a meal or a drink, know you're paying for the ambiance and view. You can get the McMenamins beers cheaper at other bars, even though they make it themselves!

Yelp
Nice cozy hotel in downtown McMinnville. Close to all the tasting room. Typical McMenamens fair. Comfortable casual. No parking at hotel. Street or garage about a block away. Rooms are small but nice. Bed a little hard but adequate.

Joan F.

Yelp
I do love this historic hotel and chose to stay here even though my week long work was in Newberg. I had a common bathroom on this stay--it was clean but not convenient. I wouldn't make that choice again. But I didn't deduct a star for that. However, I did deduct a star for the general shabbiness of the curtains, the towels and the bath robe. The morning coffee still rocks, and the mid week stay was super quiet. The staff is always great here. McMenamins seems to have survived the pandemic shutdown, and I'm grateful because I truly enjoy my stays here. Still, it's not a discount hotel and much of the charm has to do with attention to detail. I hope that focus returns to the small, needed repairs, replacements.

Bella J.

Yelp
It is an interesting and historic spot, just cause of that, it could be a good place to stay. However, it is rather noisy as it's a very old building, and people who happen to stay during my stay were rather loud too. Oh there was a woman's painting in the room and it is one of those creepy ones where the eyes trace you, the whole stay gave me nightmare for 3 days! There's a poem written by a woman who used to stay in that room on the wall!! It is very creepy! No bathroom in the room is a No Go. I wish I knew about this prior to arrival. You have to travel a long hallway to use the public bathroom. I am only giving it 3 stars because of its historic value.

Laura M.

Yelp
Roof top bar is a fun place to soak up the sun and visit with friends. Poor service: slow and unfriendly. Expensive libations. But a funky place to explore.

Venessa c.

Yelp
The customer service is and continues to be absolutely horrible. Food is mediocre at best.

Chad P.

Yelp
I REALLY enjoyed the whole Hotel Oregon experience, it's a funky and super interesting place to stay with multiple bars, restaurants and coffee options. If you are looking for a 5 star resort or spa level experience this is not for you. However if you know what you are getting into it is a total blast. There are a couple tips for first timers. Get a Suite with your own bathroom if you can, pro move. Also, use the earplugs they provide at night or bring your own. It's a very old building and everything makes noise and the walls are thin. The place is super clean though and the beds are soft with great pillows. If you like fun and funky look no further. If you want a 5 star resort style experience maybe just stay in Portland at a fancy hotel chain. I loved my stay here and hope to return soon!!

Yelp
I took my boyfriend to check out Hotel Oregon on our recent trip to McMinnville, as he had never been to Mac nor had he even heard of McMenamins!! I always love checking out the view from the rooftop bar, and even though it was raining we had a romantic kiss alone on the patio. Back inside, we ordered Hot Wings to start (literally the best hot wings we've ever had, and my boyfriend is a wing connoisseur lol), the seasonal Jambalaya (not the best my boyfriend has ever had, but it was still very good), the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and to drink a Ruby Ale & a fresh-squeezed Greyhound (the best!). The food was really, really good, and my boyfriend and I had a wonderful date night together. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I am a big fan of McMenamins hotels, but this was my least favorite I've visited. Stayed three nights for a friend's wedding over July 4th weekend. The shared bath situation didn't really scare me off as I've done it at the Edgefield and the Crystal Hotel. Hotel Oregon, however, is set up more like a dorm with one shared bath per floor (technically two: one for men and one for women) with several stalls for toilets and showers, whereas the others I've stayed at had multiple single occupancy toilet & shower set-ups per floor. I prefer the more private shared bath situation than this. While I didn't run into many people in the bathroom, I did note that they could have been cleaned more regularly. Our room was perhaps the smallest room I've ever stayed in in a US hotel. My husband and I are slender people, and it took some shimmying to maneuver us around the bed and sink whenever we opened our window, accessed our bags, or exited the room. A queen room best designed for a single occupant, I think. It was thankfully quiet enough tucked away in a back corner of the 4th floor. Front desk and cleaning staff were all very friendly. Restaurant and bar staff were atrocious aside from one woman in the restaurant who was an absolute gem. The food also was not worth the money. Dinner on the rooftop bar our first night was the worst. The curry bowl was mostly rice with a few sad vegetables (predominantly onion) and barely a hint of curry. No sauce, more an essence. My husband's stomach hurt for two days afterward. I only ate my jamaican bowl out of hunger. Make sure you ask for the separate cocktail menu if that's what you're here for as the food menu has only ciders and beer options. Service was extremely poor, and you order at the bar and pay up front, so hope they enjoyed their nice tip for doing absolutely nothing. (Seriously, when I asked for napkins they told me where I could go get them myself inside.) Breakfast downstairs was so slow regardless of whether it was bustling with patrons or virtually empty. Tip: grab coffee upstairs and bring it down with you otherwise they will charge you for your morning cup, and it tastes better free. Breakfast was at least a step up from dinner. I recommend their biscuit and house jam. Substantial and tasty. Parking was easy. Two hour street will take you to 11am if you time it right. Otherwise there's a 24-hour free parking structure about a block or two away. The hotel is directly downtown, so there is much to walk to in the immediate vicinity. It's certainly convenient if nothing else.

Ben R.

Yelp
This is a quaint hotel in the mcmenamins style in downtown Mcminnville. A good place to stay for wine tasting. Fun rooftop bar. The stories and mural wall decorations in this place are fun and interesting, but you give up some typical hotel conveniences like in suite bathroom/shower. Beds feel on the small side. Air conditioners are wall units they are pretty loud. Everything about this place is antique, which can be a great thing or it's biggest issue depending on your viewpoint. It's not cheap. Breakfast was good in the restaurant. If you want a standard hotel with modern appointments this is not your place. If your looking for an interesting downtown historic stay give it a shot

Yelp
We stopped in here last weekend on our way to Newberg for dinner. We recently got a passport and wanted to stop here to see if we could get some stamps! Fun thing! We loved staying at the Kennedy school so eventually we want to come back and stay here as well! We got through the Hotel and with our book stamped within a half hour. Didn't have much time before dinner but we will be back. We tend to come here for their salads and sweet potato fries. Good to support local businesses too!

Samantha G.

Yelp
Holy sh-- I am just not cool enough to stay here any more than the one night we stayed. No parking close to the hotel; so you and your kids are packing it about two blocks to the hotel. First impression after checking in- super funky and cool place and the room was unique! We had two Queens and our own bathroom since we had the two beds (check on this- if you don't want a shared bathroom, know what you are getting). We had an amazing time roaming around on the closed down streets, wine tasting, watching all the dogs, had some killer food. But oh man, came back about 830 ready to crash after a long day and wine tasting. That bed is not comfortable, the walls are paper thin and our bathroom spelled like old pee. My hubby fell right asleep and I was wide awake in my nightmare most of the night. Some random person was scream/singing until about 3am, I have no idea why as it was coming from a room lol! I woke my husband up and was like, welp, I've reached that age/mindset that this isn't it anymore. Would I come back to stay the night again? Not a chance. Would I come back to eat, drink, be merry- heck yes. It is a lot of people's cup of tea but take the time to assess who the f you are and pick accordingly!

Yelp
Basically a hostel or glorified YMCA, but with normal hotel prices, except without the bunk beds and the obligatory Bulgarian heroin addict shivering in the bunk above you. I travel frequently and stay at many hotels. Hotel Oregon didn't have the following amenities that I've grown accustomed to: 1. On site parking. 2. A television to watch. 3. A desk to work from. 4. A chair to sit on. 5. A private bathroom and shower. There wasn't even a urination partition, thus my day started out with a naked Otto-the-hungover-bus-driver leaning over from his urinal and checking out Stretch and the Twins. "Do you mind, Sir? If you keep looking I'm going to charge you a fee and then have you arrested for solicitation." Fear of shower floor-contracted foot fungus and the silver singles recreating 'Basic Instinct' in the room next door prevented a good night's sleep. If you stay here bring your flip flops and noise canceling headphones. I probably would have been happier at the Comfort Inn up the road. Really nice staff, however.

Chris L.

Yelp
The wife and I drove out from the east side PDX burbs for dinner and to get our passport stamps. We ate at the hotel pub. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly and checked back often. We had the beer battered onion rings for starters..They were very good, but I thought the amount of rings in the order was too small for the price of $13.00. About a buck a ring. Probably wouldn't get them again because of that.....We both had burgers and a side salad. Both were perfect. We also had our usual beer order. 5th Floor IPA and Hammerhead. Also perfect. After dinner, we completed our stamps at all the spots. Carter the Great Bar was closed. Luckily they had a QR code to picture so we could get the stamp.,The Roof Top bar has an awesome view. The outside portion would be a great spot on a warm night, not when it's 37 degrees.....We had Old Fashions in the Cellar Bar to finish off the evening....The hotel is cool and full of great images, artwork and decor. The passport hunt was fun. Be aware the Cellar Bar and Carter Bar are only open Friday and Saturday. You will not be able to get your stamps on the other days. Overall, it was a great date night. Well worth the hour plus drive.

Adam M.

Yelp
Very terrible experience! Food took an hour to arrive and received a cold well-done steak that I had ordered medium rare. It was also overly salty, which can be subjective but cold and over cooked is inexcusable. I didn't want them to remake it, afraid it would take another hour. This isn't a fine dining restaurant. Pub food should not take this long. I complained to our waitress and there was no compensation offered. Overall the staff is not very friendly.

Raven E.

Yelp
We came here again yesterday and was really disappointed in the service thanks to our waiter. He looked fairly young and possibly new? But if that was the case I would hope someone would be helping him? Our waters were never refilled, we ordered some appetizers but we didn't get any plates? I had to ask for napkins, which was weird. I asked the waiter if we could please order two bottles of champagne (to take home) and he told us we'd have to go talk to the bartender? I did and the bartender seemed a little confused like we were. Hoping this is a one off.

Cynthia K.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place thru Yelp and location. McMinnville has a great summer evening vibe in old down town so we loved the location . We tried to sit on the roof top but it was completely full - highly recommend trying to sit up there. However out in the road where the live music was playing was seasonably fun . The service was a a tad slow but decent . The food ok.. the pork tenderloin was prepared well, good flavor but more of a boneless chop rather than tenderloin . The menu was limited due to the restaurant being out of foods like salmon, asparagus , and a couple of the other main choices. The cocktails were a disappointment.

Gregg F.

Yelp
I thought at $275 night that Hotel Oregon would be a decent place, but turned out to be a real dump. Forget funky, this was junky.. Felt like I was in a 1930's historical museum never remodeled. First, there is no parking, nearest lot was two blocks away. The rooms were very small, and nowhere to put your stuff. No table or counters and knickknacks take over other shelving. There was a shared bathroom, with a tiny shower. And a little surprise when the lights turn off While you're taking a shower. The door knob for the adjoining room was only 2 feet off the ground, see picture, was this a room for short people? The heating and air-conditioning was non-functional and would not adjust to a temperature reading you might request. The room is also very dark with lighting from the 1940s. Other features included no television, very few electrical outlets, and bad artwork painted on the walls.

Dan H.

Yelp
Love this place. Alway a fun place to stop and take a break, especially if you're into history. Highly recommend!

Brian F.

Yelp
Fun hotel. Can spend time just looking at the quirky things......everywhere. Great rooftop. Breakfast was very good. Worth the stop.

Ciera B.

Yelp
The front desk agent was so damn amazing! I wish I remembered her name but she went above and beyond. We came in at 730 pm and got right into our room and they even called us asking if we were still on our way since it was late! They always checked in with us throughout our 2 night stay. The rooftop bar was super nice on a warm day and the food was delicious! It bums me out there were no TVs but it just gave us an opportunity to be in the moment. The cider was great, the breakfast great, and the atmosphere was spot on. I'm giving 3 days due to not being able to get extra toiletries which to me are essential when you run out.

Sharon K.

Yelp
*Please note that any experience at a food or lodging establishment during the pandemic should be taken with that in mind* I'm a fan of McMenamins, and decided to make this the last stop of our mini road trip (staying at 3 McMenamin properties in 4 days). Please note that this was during the hottest day of the year (literally) with temps soaring upwards of 105 degrees. We assumed that the staff were melting and exhausted by the time we arrived in the late afternoon, judging by the *meh* welcome we rec'd by the front desk (atypical for a McMenamins) and the general stressed out atmosphere in the bar/restaurants. The hotel itself is situated in the charming town of McMinnville, which was the draw for us. Positives: whimsical decor, the rooftop bar with soaring views of the surrounding, great beer and cocktails, air conditioned rooms with super comfy beds and pillows. THE PRICE WAS great! For a King 4th floor room with a common bathroom/shower was under $75! Elevator. Negatives: no real lobby to speak of, smaller rooms than typical for the Mcmenamin properties, and MOST rooms will not have private bathrooms (altho ours had a tiny sink in the corner which saved us), long LONG waits for drink delivery/food delivery at the rooftop bar). Conclusion: great price, pretty room *(although smallish) with most rooms having no private bathroom, with a great rooftop bar. Would I stay again? Likely not.

Debbie M.

Yelp
My husband and I had remembered this place fondly, however not this time. We were warned that the service was going to "take a minute" due to being short-handed. However after 40 minutes we discovered our order had never gotten to the kitchen at all. It's a shame to see a place with so much potential, a great location, and busy, fail so abominably. We left, and will not be back.

Yelp
My family drives from Sacramento, CA to Sequim, WA at least twice a year to visit my mom. We always stay somewhere along the I5 corridor and have had awful luck. We decided to give this hotel a try with usual low expectations. We no longer need to deal with scummy I5 tweaker motels. This hotel is our permanent solution! WOW! The brief departure from I5 to get to McMinnville is one continuous screen saver experience. McMinnville is super cute and inviting. The hotel: ultra cute! Very accommodating. And best of all GREAT price. The concept is a little different than most folks know and expect. HOWEVER... The differences make this hotel amazing. Sharing bathrooms at first was a little unsettling, but we quickly realized it's not a problem and actually kind of charming. Give it a chance! The ONLY con I can think of was the beer selection. Not one lager or pilsner among ten IPAs. Tip for the bar: stock a 12 pack of Heineken. Do that and get your fifth star.

Justine B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite McMenamins hotels! My husband and I stayed here for our birthday weekend and had a blast! The rooftop bar is small and a bit cramped in the winter (when the outside portion is closed), but the views are worth it. The restaurant downstairs has a great breakfast, though it's a bit pricier than other locations.

Brenda H.

Yelp
Edited review below as they contacted me and apologized for our experience and advised how they would prevent it from happening again with quality control and higher standards on their ingredients . Also sent me a gift card to cover cost of our unsatisfactory meal. Great customer service and much appreciated!!! Rooftop for lunch yesterday. $43 for 2 burgers and 2 sodas! Burger meat was so bland and tasteless and cooked more like it was steamed instead of grilled or fried. Tomato was pink and tasteless even though it was late summer and nice red ripe local tomatoes can be had. I've had their burgers before and they were great! Not sure what changed but doubt we will be back which is sad since we love the view

Rick I.

Yelp
114th birthday party was a total blast... This is vintage hotel We have enjoyed Hotel Oregon many times.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Knowing Mcmenamins has properties that offer communal bathrooms (which I cannot stand) I was sure I had researched and this wasn't one of those properties. Well, it is. Did I say I hate communal bathrooms?? If I need to pee 6 times during my stay (because there are bars everywhere!) I do not want to have to put pants on to do it! I want to stumble from my comfy bed into the toilet and know if the seat is weirdly warm it's from me forgetting I was just in there 30 mins before. Not from some other occupant who just offloaded the resulting butt terror because of beer and bar food! And comfy bed is actually a stretch. Apparently a standard room is a queen bed in what's little more than a closet and a random sink attached to the wall. We didn't have room for suitcases and ourselves which led to a fun game of Tetris with bodies and property. There is a random armoire in the corner of the room that serves no purpose but to house your towels and takes up super valuable space. (Which you will inevitably walk into in the middle of the night while trying to navigate out of your room, down a hall, get into the locked bathroom and back). No TVs in rooms. Which business wise makes sense. If I can't hole up in my room I'm more likely to drink. Which leads to super drunk people milling around the hallways at all hours commenting on the very creepy and dark paintings (albeit historical) and just generally being loud and obnoxious. We were woken up by our air conditioner going off every 30 mins and the trusty city garbage and recycling truck at 5 am. I can only guess guests have complained about noise before as their were two sets of ear plugs on the bedside table upon our arrival. Which we laughed at being a new mint on your pillow. Until we got the reason. I would visit this area again. And would even visit the Mcmenamins bars again. But would pass on the hotel and stay at a different one that is close.

Janis N.

Yelp
We had the most wonderful time here! The hotel staff were all so great! Bar tenders were amazing! The jalapeño margarita was delicious!!! We had a queen room with private bath celebrating my birthday. Clean well stocked and perfect. Thank you you hotel staff fora great time, looking forward to our next stay

Kathy F.

Yelp
What a fun and quirky experience! We were celebrating our Friday the 13th anniversary and thought it would be fun to stay here. It didn't disappoint. The City of McMinnville even offers free overnight parking a block away. We checked in, walked up two flights to our room, and felt like we were going back in time. It's an old hotel that is clean and bright. Our room was comfortable and cozy with a king bed and sink. The pros and cons: pro-bathroom was across the hall from our room. Con- bathroom was across the hall from our room. The bathrooms reminded us of university days. There is a men's washroom and a women's washroom. Two sinks, four toilet stalls and two separate rooms with showers. In the time that we were there I only saw one other woman entering the washroom and it was as I was leaving. My husband said the same about the men's room. Fresh, soft terry cloth robes are provided in your room and your towels and toiletries are by your sink. The robes are nice because...the bathroom is across the hall from your room.

Yelp
McMenamin's is known for its stellar design and service, so we were excited to stay at Hotel Oregon as part of our Edgefield-St. Francis-McMinnville loop. Our room was comfortable, with a fine view of Evans Street and surrounding downtown buildings. Despite the scorching heat, the room remained cool. Especially great was the rooftop bar. In balmy weather we lounged for what felt like an eternity, hammering down Hammerheads, pizza, and salad. It was a bit of paradise to spend time up there. Our server, whose name we didn't catch, kept us supplied with libations with good humor and perfect attentiveness. Kudos to him for making the evening for us. Check-in was a bit lifeless, with only the barest amount of information passed on. Parking information should be a given, but we had to ask for it and were only told that it was a lot two blocks away. Only by circling the lot did we intuit that it was the city parking lot--yet we're still not sure. Other niceties are Hotel 101: If you and guests with bags are waiting for the elevator, let the guests go first. None of these are huge dealbreakers. I just look at them as opportunities for tightening up the ship. And times are tough, the day was hot, and the staff has probably been overworked, so we get it. Odd that some reviewers criticize the common baths. Did you not know this in advance? No, I'm not a great fan of common baths, either, but I knew what I was getting into. As far as their condition: clean and large enough. The price was an unbeatable $75. Within the context of that room price, a few of Hotel Oregon's speedbumps are way easier to go along with.

Yelp
A quirky, lovable small hotel. Built in 1906 and restored by the McMenamins. All of the rooms are named for local characters and uniquely decorated. Many of the rooms have shared bathrooms, these are cheaper and more spacious. Several full bars and a restaurant, often with music. Perfectly located right in the heart of Old Town. On street parking is usually not too hard to find. Some won't care for the old, hipster "funk" of this place, but we like it.

Yelp
Let's start with the good. First, the location is central to many good restaurants and cafes in McMinnville. Second, the people at the check-in desk are friendly. There was a problem with our room and they were sincerely apologetic and more than made good. But this place is REALLY strange. I know these are all first world problems, so consider this a PSA, not a complaint. Parking is 2 blocks away. Not a problem for us, but could be an issue for people who are not in great health and who travel with more stuff. The 10 minute check in and unloading parking was full. This place is OLD, and not in a charming way. It feels like you're entering an estate sale of the local that everyone describes as "eccentric." And it smells horrible - a cross between mildew and an old Applebees. Our first room smelled of mushroom risotto, and the scent never faded. Most rooms have shared bathrooms. We found that not only can you lock the bathroom door and your own room's door, but your neighbor's door as well. There was one uncomfortable instance where we had to knock on our neighbor's door so they could let us into the bathroom even though it was unoccupied. Lastly, the "artwork" inspires nightmares. Whoever approved it has a thing for UFOs and the paranormal and it appears throughout the entire hotel - the rooms, the hallways, even the key cards. One painting featured rabbits being abducted by aliens. The portraits in our room looked like sexual predators and serial killers. So make your choices based on the information and opinions provided. It's not an experience we care to repeat.

Yelp
Stayed for 3 nights last week as part of wine tasting gettaway with girlfriends. The plusses: comfortable beds and fun atmospheric, historic building and great location. The negatives: rooms are too noisy/not soundproofed. We had 3 of us on one floor in separate rooms and we didn't all want to hear the busy couple. The only other thing I will say is my breakfast downstairs was not good. The Baja burrito was mostly flour tortilla, filled with a few dried out scrambled eggs and giant potatoes chunks. Had a tiny bit (maybe a level tablespoon) of pico de gallo and a tablespoon of cilantro sour cream on top. The inside was so dry this wasn't near enough moisture to choke it down and I did need to eat prior to a day of wine tasting. I asked the server for more salsa or something and received a tiny plastic container of pico. I was further disappointed at the $3 up charge he failed to mention. I also don't love it when they don't ask how everything was. Perhaps understaffing is the issue.... This is a widespread problem I understand. No housekeeping during stay, and rooftop bar very understaffed.

Yelp
I wanna give this place 3 stars for having to walk in and out of my room to use the shared bathrooms but that would be unfair as this is what my partner loves most about coming to this and many other McMenamins hotels. I will say that I am African American and always feel welcome here not that I expect anything less but it is a very small, very Caucasian town so I want to assure others that you will be welcome. Okay, moving on... The rooms are very clean and I just love the lotion. I always take the lotion with me. Very moisturizing. Anyway, great place and I'll more than likely be back!

Yelp
Unfortunately, on the 4th floor, at least in my room, the wi fi didn't work which was a real drag as I had work to do. The staff here is fantastic, and graciously allowed me to sit in an unused part of the restaurant to get wifi though the loud music interfered with my work. Also, parking was 2 blocks away, though it was free. The room was clean, staff great but because of the wifi and parking, won't be back.

Yelp
On a warm summers night, the rooftop bar at Hotel Oregon is one of the best places in the Oregon wine country to stop for a open air drink at sunset. The hotel itself isn't high on our list for a place to stay, but this rooftop bar is just a wonderful and unique setting a top a building in McMinneville for that "city in the country" feel. Food is just okay, but the urban rooftop with in the middle of destination rural Oregon Pinot Noir country, is just a great location on a summer's night. One of the more unusual settings on any Oregon wine country adventure.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect from this place when I booked it but I'm so glad i did! The shared bathroom was very clean and needed a room key to access it, also wasn't too crowded to make it feel weird. The hubby and I walked every floor to check out all the fun art. We got to enjoy the rooftop bar and ate dinner too. All around great experience for a one night stay. The room oozes old timey charm. And while it's not the quietest place to stay, it was definitely one of the fun ones! The room had pairs of earplugs to use but I had my own. I used mine and was happy I did. The rooms just have more noise as it's an old building. I knew that going in and it was not an issue at all. Our room, the Bruce MacCabee room, had access to the interior courtyard which was beautifully filled with greenery and twinkle lights. The bed was comfy and the AC cranks out ice cold air if that's what you're after. It had a sink in the room so you really only had shared toilets/showers. Our floor had a coffee station in the morning which was a nice touch. I honestly can't wait to come back for another stay, maybe this time with friends.

Yelp
I came here long ago and was in the upstairs bar. That was a horrible experience. I was hoping to come back and have better service. The girl was very sweet but it was crazy how long it would take to get anything and there was hardly anyone in there! Their fish and chips I normally loved but they seemed extra greasy this time. Luckily they still tasted good - just greasy which upset my stomach later. I have yet to stay at the hotel itself but wow is this building gorgeous. I really must say that McMenamin's really does do a pretty stunning job taking vintage buildings and keeping them going as something even better than they were. Their local fare inspires as well...I just never understand why their service at all locations is so bad.

Yelp
We'd been recommended to this great little bar on top of Hotel Oregon. Had a great view and the food, drinks and service were all great. Downtown McMinnville is very quaint and full of shops and restaurants. We were told there was a bar in the basement of this hotel that opens in the evening, but unfortunately didn't have a chance to come back and check it out. They have great umbrella coverage on the rooftop so you can enjoy the beautiful days without having the sun beat down on you. I had the pork sandwich and it was great.

Yelp
I only stayed one night, but would happily stay longer. This beautiful old building has a unique decoration theme. The location is perfect. Located downtown there are several good restaurants and bars in walking distance. The area is surrounded by dozens of great wineries. As this is an old building, all of the rooms are different. Like may old European hotels, some rooms have shared showers and restrooms down the hall. If you don't want that, you can do as my wife and I did and get a room with an in-suite bath. We had the Sally Nickolai room which had a king size bed, seating area with a couch and a large bathroom complete with a claw-foot bathtub. No TV but free wifi. There is free parking available, it is two blocks down the street and the public lot. Worked out fine.

Yelp
A restored hotel which retains turn of the century details such as beautiful brass soap holders and wood framed Windows that open and close. Shared bathrooms down the hallway are fine because the plush white bathrobes are cushy and roomy. The place feels like a boarding house in the best sense.

Yelp
DOG FRIENDLY!!! That is so awesome! We spent a few days in McMinnville and originally planned on staying somewhere else but our dog sitter was not available. Saw that Hotel Oregon was dog friendly so booked a King room. We had a shared bathroom that was just across the hall so that wasn't an issue, showers were in individual private inner rooms and were always clean during our stay. The room was bright and spacious and did have its own sink. They even had bowls and blankets for the dogs in our room when we arrived, really nice touch. Only issue we had during our stay was quite a bit of noise from the room above us, kids running around that went right through the old floors, but didn't continue into the night so was tolerable. The hotel has a ton of art work and kept most of its historic feel, being a McMennamins there were plenty of places to grab a beer or other adult beverage. You have to check out the basement bar and the rooftop bar.

Yelp
Ok, we decided to come up here for the weekend to house hunt for my friend. We had an ice storm. Good times! Not really. Pandemic + ice storm = rooftop bar closed, cellar bar closed. Kinda bummed on those. We did manage to get our passport stamps and McMenamins is always an adventure. We marched around the hotel looking for clues while the power was out. Oh yeah, we had a power outage too. I was not aware of the shared bathroom situation until we were in the room. It worked out ok as no one was in the other room. The parking was confusing at first but it turned out to be a good thing to park in a garage. Where we had initially parked to check in had a frozen tree branch break off. Pretty sure the rental car company would not have been too happy.
