Our last stop on the way out of Seattle had us ducking in to Six Arms for a quick drink, snack and passport stamp. I'd been to this location before with some friends a few years back, way before I knew what the hell a McMenamins was, so it's good to revisit it with experienced eyes.
Service was phenomenal; Victoria was incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive, present with us when she needed to be, and busy catering to her other elsewise. Interior décor carries McMenamins' signature flare for the theatric: evocative dim lighting, dark hardwoods, exposed pipework, exotic statues and artwork.
The Shogun's Promise is my new favorite cocktail at any McMenamins location, so I'm going to have to see if it can be ordered or replicated at one of their locations back home: the caramel and cinnamon hints of Suntory whisky paired with the citrus-y flavor of yuzu was an unexpectedly pleasant combo! My wife's Kissed By A Rose was, in her words, exactly like being kissed by a rose - extremely floral forward, with a tang of citrus in every carbonated sip.
Of course, we couldn't leave without splitting some truffle fries, which are already wonderful, but having purchased some truffle salt from a shop near Pike Place, the experience was enhanced even further! I recommend everyone keep a jar of truffle salt on their person, at all times, but for those less prepared than ourselves, it's safe to proclaim that McMenamins' truffle fries don't need it. We're just weird that way.
Great food, great service, great location. The three of us (and our six arms) will definitely return to Six Arms again.
