The seating did not complement the beautiful view, and the food felt expensive for what was served. The overall experience was mixed, with good food but average cocktails and mocktails. For starters, the chips with heirloom tomatoes and burrata were really good. Fresh, light, and enjoyable. The lamb shoulder with salsa verde and roasting jus was mouthwatering and easily the highlight of the mains. However, the cauliflower with chickpea miso, blood lime, and hazelnut was disappointing. It was undercooked, lightly marinated, and quite dry. Dessert ended the meal on a high note. The Amphora chocolate crémeux was delicious and well balanced.

This has to be one of most interesting restaurants we have been to! Me-Gal is located within the beautiful surroundings of Taronga Zoo. The restaurant not only has beautiful decor. It offers a sweeping view of Sydney CBD, the harbor bridge, opera house and Mosman Bay. We had the tasting menu which consisted of 6 courses. The portions were generous. The crew made my partner feel special on his birthday. We will be back again to sample other items from the al la carte menu ❤️

I am a 15 year hospitality professional with high standards, and my partner and I left really really happy with dinner; we're still talking about it a couple nights later. The service was MAYBE a bit slow, but you shouldn't turn up to such a beautiful location in a hurry. The kitchen was very quick though. They gave us the best table in the restaurant after hearing we got engaged that day- we'd never ask for that and it was a really nice touch. We left a modest tip in the end. The food was really excellent. The burrata was far from the basic burrata you get at your local "fancy" restaurant and was really refreshing. The smoked soy with the tuna crudo tasted exactly as expected (a good thing). The sauce in the octopus pasta was rich without being overbearing, and the portion was very generous. The wagyu was cooked perfectly and whatever puree came with it was a nice surprise, very different but added to the meal nicely. The wagyu portion was more than expected from a nicer restaurant and we were surprise by the beef cheek croquette that came with it- a delicious surprise for sure. The sides, which were beans with mornay (broccolini on the day) and chips were very generous portions. One random thing that really stood out was the chips CAME WITH ENOUGH SAUCE, avoiding my number 1 pet peeve that goes on at most restaurants, including those at my employers. I would love to take out of town guests here someday even if we're not staying at the Retreat, to show off how good Sydney can be.

An amazing experience, with delicious food & fabulous service. Myself and my partner had the 'Shared Feast', which came with our accommodation package staying at the Wildlife Retreat. The food was amazing & out of this world, while the atmosphere and view of Sydney Harbour were equally amazing. We also had the buffet breakfast in the morning, which was just as good. 5+ Stars, thank you for such an amazing service that we certainly won't be forgetting any time soon.

One of the most stunning views in Sydney. The restaurant overlooks the Harbour with the Bridge and the Opera House in the distance. It seems to be one of Sydney’s best kept secrets. Food is plentiful, well priced and delicious.

We celebrated my birthday at Megal and had such a fantastic experience! Su provided exceptional service from start to finish — super attentive and genuinely warm. The food was delicious, and Su’s drink recommendations were spot on. We ordered the shared feast, which was perfect for the four of us and very filling. To top it off, they surprised me with a chocolate “Happy Birthday” plaque for dessert — such a thoughtful touch! The view is also amazing, which made the whole evening even more special. Highly recommended — great food, great service, and a memorable experience!

We had a dinner booking at 6:30pm and were blown away by the exceptional service and beautiful atmosphere at Me-Gal. A particular standout was a waiter with curly hair and a Canadian accent — his attention to detail and warm personality really elevated our experience. The food and wine were outstanding. I highly recommend the Pinot Noir from Orange — smooth, well balanced, and perfect with the meal. The dishes were beautifully plated and full of flavour. They even catered to my celiac needs with gluten free options, which I was so grateful for. That said, there was an unfortunate moment where I believe a different (male) waiter served me the beef cheek, which I later realised wasn’t part of the special GF menu. It was absolutely delicious — almost too good — and when I checked the menu, I knew something was off. Unfortunately, I began to feel ill and had to leave early, so I didn’t get the chance to properly thank the amazing Canadian waiter who took such good care of us. Parking is available just outside, and it’s only a quick 2-minute walk to the lift upstairs. A note for those needing the bathroom — it’s located downstairs. We also sadly missed out on the stunning city views due to heavy rain, but that didn’t take away from the quality of the food and service. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience, and we’ll definitely be back — hopefully with clear skies and a better outcome for my dietary needs next time!

We’ve just returned from our second family stay at the Wildlife Retreat at Taronga, and once again, dining at Me-Gal was an absolute highlight. Nestled above the retreat, the restaurant offers panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, and the city skyline, creating a magical backdrop for our meal. The menu is a celebration of native Australian ingredients and sustainable produce. We shared dishes like the 12-hour slow-roasted Flinders Island lamb shoulder with heirloom carrots, lime, and mint, and the butterflied whole chicken with Geraldton wax and pickled muntries, each bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The wine list is exclusively Australian, featuring selections from renowned producers such as Henschke, Penfolds, Yabby Lake, Grosset, Leeuwin Estate, and Oakridge. The wines, many of which are vegan, organic, biodynamic, and sustainable, were expertly paired with our meal, enhancing each course. The staff were attentive and warm, going the extra mile to personalize our experience. For instance, they added a birthday chocolate plaque to our dessert, making the celebration even more special. Dining at Me-Gal was more than just a meal; it was an immersive experience that complemented the unique setting of the Wildlife Retreat. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Sydney.
