Me-Gal Restaurant

Had two meals here as we were staying overnight at the retreat. Our experience was mixed; dinner was great, while breakfast could be better. While some reviews may say that meals here were overpriced and the food service was not on par with the price, we found our dinner service quite enjoyable. The fish was delicious, the roasted chicken was fantastic, and the broccoli was good. We had a window seat and the view of the Sydney golden hour was spectacular. Our servers were sincere and made sure we were taken care of. Breakfast, however, was a different experience. The food selection. was not wide, but had the essentials. My main complaint is the work flow; There was a queue by the entrance waiting to be seated despite there being empty tables, though some of the empty tables still had uncleared dirty plates and cups from customers that had finished and left. Clearing these tables should have been prioritized so that new patrons could be seated and start helping themselves to the breakfast buffet, instead of just standing there waiting. There were four servers working, but it wasn't enough to handle the flow of breakfast service well, as they were kind of all over the place and working unsystematically. Our coffee order took 25 minutes, and somehow other patrons received their orders before us despite being seated and ordering much later than us.

This has to be one of most interesting restaurants we have been to! Me-Gal is located within the beautiful surroundings of Taronga Zoo. The restaurant not only has beautiful decor. It offers a sweeping view of Sydney CBD, the harbor bridge, opera house and Mosman Bay. We had the tasting menu which consisted of 6 courses. The portions were generous. The crew made my partner feel special on his birthday. We will be back again to sample other items from the al la carte menu ❤️

The seating did not complement the beautiful view, and the food felt expensive for what was served.The overall experience was mixed, with good food but average cocktails and mocktails. For starters, the chips with heirloom tomatoes and burrata were really good. Fresh, light, and enjoyable. The lamb shoulder with salsa verde and roasting jus was mouthwatering and easily the highlight of the mains. However, the cauliflower with chickpea miso, blood lime, and hazelnut was disappointing. It was undercooked, lightly marinated, and quite dry. Dessert ended the meal on a high note. The Amphora chocolate crémeux was delicious and well balanced.

Had an amazing experience here for my birthday celebration! The restaurant arranged a perfect window seat for us, and the harbour view was absolutely beautiful. The service was top-notch, and a special thank you to Yashwi for making my birthday even more memorable. She went above and beyond by preparing a birthday cake for me even though it wasn’t on the menu — such a thoughtful and lovely gesture! The food was very delicious. While the portions were a little on the smaller side, the overall experience more than made up for it, and I was still extremely happy with our visit. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

The restaurant has a fabulous setting, if you are seated near the windows, looking straight out at the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The staff were friendly and tried hard but there seemed to be a certain lack of organisation or coordination amongst the staff. The set menu was prebooked but we had to bring this to their attention. There was also a lack of attention as we had to ask to have our water glasses refilled, even though other tables had their own bottle of tap water. The entrees were delicious but the wagyu beef mains were a let down. The beef was tough and quite disappointing and could not possibly have been rated at mbs 9+. We brought this to their attention and, to the restaurant's credit, they did not charge us for our wine. We were quite disappointed with our dinner tonight. We had breakfast here the next morning and it was excellent. A nice selection of food and the coffee was excellent.

What a view!! A great way to enjoy breakfast. The food offering was a little less than I’m used to at a buffet breakfast, but the food was nice and fresh and the service by staff was good also.

Wow….just wow! My partner and I celebrated their birthday at Me-Gal for dinner and in all regards the night was perfect. We were seated at a quiet table by the window just before sunset and the view from so high up in Mosman over the harbour bridge, opera house and city skyline was breathtaking. Our gorgeous waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging without being intrusive….perfect. The food was incredible… we ordered the heirloom tomato entree (beautiful) with homemade focaccia followed by the chicken (sensational) and toothfish (lovely). The cheesecake was in another league… one of the best desserts either of us has ever experienced. The delicate use of Australian native ingredients in every dish was absolutely beautiful. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and the ambiance of the restaurant was so tasteful. We loved me-gal, which is now one of our favourite Sydney restaurants. It was also well priced… and the wine we selected paired beautifully with our menu. We cannot wait to return.

An amazing experience, with delicious food & fabulous service. Myself and my partner had the 'Shared Feast', which came with our accommodation package staying at the Wildlife Retreat. The food was amazing & out of this world, while the atmosphere and view of Sydney Harbour were equally amazing. We also had the buffet breakfast in the morning, which was just as good. 5+ Stars, thank you for such an amazing service that we certainly won't be forgetting any time soon.
