Here's Why Tampa Has Florida's Hottest Food Scene

"I find it striking that Meacham Urban Farm operates as a two-acre organic farm in downtown Tampa, growing seasonal crops on a permanent bed system and running the onsite Meacham Farm Store that partners with other local farmers and makers for a complete organic grocery selection, while also hosting festivals and dinners to bring the community together and teach where food comes from." - Susan B. This has become our favorite weekend routine activity! Having fresh, organic, locally grown food options right in the heart of downtown Tampa is such a gem. Everyone is always so kind. 10/10 experience!

Google
Meacham Urban Farm is one of those local businesses that are seriously giving back to the community, whether people realize it or not. I for instance really value seasonal, organic eating therefore me being a customer since I found them in about 2022 is an absolute given. Knowing where my food comes from is of utmost importance, as well as supporting the movement and farmers/staff. Not only can you buy organic produce from their farm and other local farms who deliver to them but they also offer amazing staples such as quality eggs, local meat, raw dairy items, sourdough bread and ferments to just name some.

Google
I love the idea and mission behind this farm but the prices are really high. 12 dollars for a dozen eggs!? That’s ridiculously high. It’s a beautiful farm and their produce is fresh but it’s hard to navigate to, it’s tucked away in the heart of downtown Tampa and the prices are so high so I will not be going back.

Love the fresh produce, dairy, eggs and meats! The Meacham Farm team are amazing and so friendly 💚

Google
Wonderful local urban farm located near the heart of downtown. They have a plethora of in season vegetables and a myriad of other offerings like raw milk, honey, kombucha, sourdough bread, and other locally sourced products. The employees are friendly and informative. If you are looking to get closer to your food source and reduce your consumption of processed foods, this is a great option for reasonable prices.

I moved from a small town with a local farmer's market every week, so was disappointed when I moved to Tampa. But then Joe decided to build a farm and grow organic produce. And I couldn't be happier. It might cost more than the local grocery store, but you get so much more. The produce is fresher & last longer. It's not covered in pesticides & herbicides that are harmful. They offer pasture-raise meats from other local farms & ranches. They also help support other small organic farmers & small-shops I so glad I found Meachum Urban Farm and they have a GREAT team of people that work there.

Yelp
This farm has been on my go to list for a while now and I finally made it! From what I understand, the warmer/summer months there isn't a lot of growing going on, so I'll have to return in the fall and winter to get a really good feel for this urban farm. I will say, it's definitely in an urban area, I like the use of the space and that it has it's own parking area! I looked at what was stocked in the cooler on a Friday afternoon, the day they stock their goods and only walked away with some purple potatoes. There was a lot of meat from a couple of suppliers and it was quite pricey...BUT I've been looking for a local meat supplier. I'll need to dig into details on who they are, where they come from and their practices... I believe there are some harvest gatherings/festivals/meals or something they do, at least once a year. A friend and I were going to go this past fall but for some reason we didn't. So we said this time around, if they do offer something in the fall, we definitely want to check it out! I will add this to my list of local farming spots to get fresh and locally grown produce and other stuff!

Yelp
Amazing! Love all the fresh produce and amazing people! Must try and get local produce.

Yelp
This urban farm is located in the heart of City of Tampa. Luckily, they have their own free parking lot. They are open every week from Friday - Monday. Since I went on a Monday, they didn't have as many offerings as they would on a Friday. I still bought some nice looking Roma tomatoes and a spaghetti squash. You could see that their field was empty, but I was told Fall planting season starts in the middle of September, and soon they would be bursting with vegetables. In addition to vegetables, their little market also offers dairy products for sale, different cuts of meats, and locally made salsas, honey and jam. Bonus tip: look for Johnny, the sweet little gray cat who loves pets!

Yelp
The Meacham Urban Farm is in Central Park near the Perry Harvey Park. It has fresh produce from greens (Kale to Collards) cabbage, beets, bananas , kefir, raw whole milk & farm fresh beef +eggs & poultry. I'll always support local and why not? The produce is from Meacham & other local farms throughout the area. They do offer samples of the veggies so the lines can get long quickly but with a short waitime. Be sure to come early if visiting on the weekend to get your choice before they sellout. Parking lot is smalls but good. So come out! Friday 3-7 Sat 9-1 Sun 10-1 Monday 3-7 *See photos for more details

Yelp
I have been in awe of this farm since the pandemic. The farmers are passionate about locally and sustainably grown, healthy organic food. I love the community they're building through group events like farm dinners and cooking workshops. They really give back to the community and try to educate on the importance of eating locally. You can load money onto a farm card and get a certain percentage back when buying food when using it. I like the concept of preloading the farm card since you're able to help the farm exist especially in the slower seasons and reap the benefits of their produce when they harvest. It's definitely a great family friendly place to get involved in!

Yelp
Meacham urban farm is a Tampa gem located on several acres of land in downtown. They have seasonal, organic produce growing year round and it is for sale along with eggs, fermented goods, locally sourced milk and so much more! The pictures attached are from a family style dinner which they hosted in January of 2023. They absolutely killed this dinner. The nature of how they grow and source their ingredients spoke for itself but the kind people and loving energy were the cherry on top. For only $85 a person, it was an incredible deal and an awesome experience. Nicole, seemingly one of the farm's busiest employees, was an absolute angel and deserves honorable mention. You can tell everyone here works very hard and values what they are producing for the community. They support Florida farmers, which is more important now than ever, and they even accept SNAP/EBT.

Yelp
Meacham Urban Farm is indeed in the midst of an urban jungle, kindly providing quality and organic produce to us Tampa Bay folk who prefer to support local farms when accessible. They offer their organic produce, produce from other Florida farms, kombucha, ferments from Buddhas Garden, local eggs, flowers, baked goods, grass fed beef and pasture raised chicken from TrailBale Farm. I personally love the Sauerkraut (bonus points for how great it is for the gut bacteria), the eggs which are pricey but also some of the best eggs I've ever tried and their all local produce of course. As of right now they're open 3 days a week: Sat, Sun and Mon for limited hours so plan accordingly before you visit them.

Yelp
Meacham is a true hidden gem in Tampa. Just outside of downtown Tampa in Ybor, you can stand in Meacham's farm fields while seeing skyscrapers off in the distance which is a cool juxtaposition of environments. They grow seasonal vegetables and sell them along with other local products at their weekend market. Additionally, they have been hosting farm dinners along with the help of Buddha's Garden. I attended one, and it was a 4 course meal of almost 100% local ingredients! Love Meacham and will definitely be using it for many years to get fresh organic vegetables or just to take a break from the city life and explore their farm.

Yelp
Lots of options from pizza dough, eggs, meats, bread and more. Very thankful to have something like this available in Tampa! Just throwing it out there that the last couple of times I went (2:30 on a Friday) can get really busy, and with only two check out people, you will be waiting in line a long time. I waited 43 minutes myself. Otherwise come and get all your organic goods that you need!

Yelp
Love this place for a morning stroll through the farm then ending the loop at the little market. Great, fresh produce and local produce as well. Friendly staff.

Yelp
I am loving Meacham Urban Farm! I visited on a Sunday morning around 11:00. They had a small but good selection of produce, meat, eggs, honey, bread and grains. The prices incredibly reasonable. They have a membership but there is currently a waitlist to join. Know that I know this is here, I can't wait to go back before my grocery shopping is complete for the week.

Yelp
I was here for my very first visit on a Saturday at 11:15am, their hours being 9-1pm. I came for eggs and veggies, particularly for some that were advertised the day before, like patty pan squash. I realize I came fairly late in their open hours, but they were out of eggs, some slim pickings not worth buying, imo, and most everything priced way more than I am accustomed to paying for organic food, which I purchase on a regular basis. I ended up buying some beautiful Lion's Mane mushrooms ($14.50lb) and slim pickings Japanese eggplant which I will need to cook tonight for sure. ($3lb) I asked what time I would have to arrive to get eggs, and she said 'early'. OK, I don't live close by, so I doubt I'll be in a hurry to buy eggs at $8/dozen. I usually see free range pastured eggs for $5-6/dozen at farmers markets.

Yelp
Love this local urban farm! Stopped by on a Monday night. Super friendly and great produce! I They also sell herb plants!

Yelp
Good selection of farm products. A bit pricy but always fresh. The garden patch allows you to see what is being grown. Good presentations.

Charlie C.

Yelp
Cool little place to take the kids to see how to grow vegetables. They have breads, vegetables, honey, and meat, all from artisan farms and bakers.
