I stayed one night in a dormitory room at this hotel. The location is very convenient. Everything was clean and functional. The bed linen was soft and comfortable. The common living and dining area was bright, spacious, and stylish — so was the shared shower space. The staff were kind, polite, and always smiling. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but they provide a meal voucher that can be used at selected local restaurants nearby. If I come back to Taipei, I’d like to stay here again.

While the hostel itself was average for a boutique, the staff truly set this property apart. Yun was exceptionally kind and attentive, offering thoughtful suggestions and personally assisting me in booking daily activities. Every interaction I had reflected the same level of genuine care and dedication. They went above and beyond in a way that deserves recognition. The staff are the reason this stay is five stars, and I sincerely hope management rewards them for the outstanding service they provide

I recently stayed at Meander Taipei with my family during a 20-hour overnight layover in Taiwan, and I have to say, it turned out to be a solid choice. (We made a last-minute booking via Expedia, and it was an easy decision considering the great location and affordable price.) We arrived around midnight, and while we were hoping to visit the night market, it was already too late to make it. Instead, we ended up grabbing a late-night snack at the 7-11 right next to the hotel, which worked just fine for us—definitely a decent backup plan. The staff was friendly and efficient, which was especially appreciated after our long travel. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained. Our room was cozy (2 bunk beds), and even though we didn’t spend much time there, it was comfortable enough to get some rest before our next flight. All in all, Meander 1948 was a great option for a short stay. The location was ideal, the price was reasonable, and the facilities were more than adequate for a layover. Would definitely consider staying here again if we find ourselves in Taipei for another short stop!

Great stay and convenient location not far from the main station and in a nice neighborhood. I was updgraded when I arrived. Everything is well organized, with water, tea, laundry etc on a common floor. Most of the staff was really nice and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Out of the two hotels I stayed at in Taipei, this one was definitely the best. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the daily housekeeping kept everything clean and comfortable. The location couldn’t be better — there’s a 711 right downstairs, and it’s very easy to get around the city from here. The room was a bit small, but honestly, that’s the only minor downside I can think of. Everything else was excellent. I really enjoyed my stay and would gladly come back again.

The higher end branch of Meander, 1948 also has a mix of guests, including Western travelers and locals transiting between the airport and the train station. 1948 is about a third the size of the Ximending site capacity. Located on floors 2 to 4, the reception desk is actually located within the cafe on the ground floor. The rooms and facilities are clean and well maintained, with excellent ventilation and air conditioning. The beds use mattresses, not foam mats. The common room is located on the fourth floor and relatively small, there is only one coffee table and a single sofa, however there are plenty of floor cushions. There are only two dining tables and seating with electrical is limited, unless you bring extended cords. Though the space is less conducive for digital nomads, it does provide a cozy area forcing people together. Above the common room is a cargo net loft, for relaxing or reading. The balcony overlooks the street, however smoking is not allowed. There are washing machines and dryers located outside the kitchen. The open kitchen is immediately next to the common room and is serviced by a toaster oven, an induction plate and a coffee machine which uses free coffee beans. All in all this is a solid 4 star facility, above average and aside from the limited working space, met all my expectations. however as an executive backpacker, I have experienced 5 star facilities, where the fifth star would be given to the common room or included breakfast.

Absolutely loved my stay at Meander 1948! The room was perfect – modern, spotless, and super comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and great local tips. One of the highlights was the breakfast voucher included with the stay – such a nice way to start the day. And the location couldn’t be better: central, convenient, and walking distance to great food, transport, and attractions. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Taipei – it’s the kind of place that makes your trip extra special.

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed in. I have been hostel travelling around most of Europe and in some parts of Asia and I have never stayed anywhere better! The staff are kind, the amenities were amazing (huge showers, great common areas with cooking facilities, a big hang out area, comfortable beds, free towels and slippers), and the location next to Taipei central is amazing for the price. I only paid around 800NTD for a night, absolutely amazing deal. Thank you so much.
