We had a reservation here for our dinner club friends. We meet up every few months and try different restaurants. We were greeted immediately opinion arrival and shown to a large table for 6 in a recessed room. It was lovely but a bit cold. We had a round of starters to share and a main course. We had two bottles of wine and a couple of beers. Overall including a tip it worked out about £50 per head. The service was prompt and the food was very good. I’d recommend this place.

Wonderful steakhouse in Glasgow. The steak is amazing and delicious. This is must to go restaurant if you like to try the authentic steak in Glasgow. The restaurant is very popular and strong suggestion to make the reservation 2-3 days and set up the dinner time as early as you can. Otherwise, a lot of great food will be run out after 7:00PM.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Meat Bar, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy decor that sets the perfect tone for a relaxing meal. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. I ordered the steak sandwich and Caesar salad, and both were simply delightful. The steak sandwich was a true highlight – the beef was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, providing a satisfying crunch with each bite. The sandwich was generously portioned, making it a fulfilling and enjoyable meal. The Caesar salad was equally impressive. Crisp, fresh romaine lettuce was topped with a rich and creamy dressing that had just the right balance of tanginess and creaminess. The homemade croutons added a delicious crunch, making each bite enjoyable. Overall, Meat Bar exceeded my expectations with its exceptional food quality and impeccable service. I highly recommend trying their steak sandwich and Caesar salad – both are excellent choices that showcase the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. I will definitely be returning soon to explore more of their menu.

The Meat Bar is probably the best steakhouse I’ve been to so far. My friends and I loved every dish ordered & served and thought about the food well after. The service staff were all friendly and our waiter was very kind. The restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere. My friends and I were very happy to come across this restaurant as we travelled through the UK.

Absolutely loved our dining experience here! The staff were genuinely friendly and provided excellent service throughout the evening. It’s also a dog-friendly restaurant — our pup was welcome to sit with us on the floor or in our arms, as long as he stayed off the leather sofas. A very thoughtful and relaxed policy! The ambiance was warm and comfortable, making it a great spot to unwind. We had the T-bone steak, which was well-priced and perfectly cooked with a lovely chargrilled aroma. The side dishes were just as tasty and complemented the main dish really well. The Garlic & Chilli Prawns were another highlight — super aromatic and seasoned just right. Highly recommend this place for a relaxed, pet-friendly meal with great food and service!

Group of 6 had our evening meal. Everyone had steaks of one shape or size or another and everyone was over the moon with their food.. I went for the steak of the week deal which came with lovely potatoes onion rings, mushroom and a tomato. I also ordered haggis Bon bons…AMAZING. Booze was great as well local Scottish pints and meat smoked cocktails! Mine had a Crispy bacon slice in it and was delicious… highly recommended the place.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The food was excellent by far the best steaks we have had. All the dishes were delicious and portions were share friendly. Cocktail was divine and staff were marvellous. A great meal and a great evening out.

Yelp
This place is a bit pricey, but offers a good menu and one of the better bead steaks you'll get in Scotland. Tip: they take reservations, but be sure to ask for a seat away from the door. It gets a bit windy/ chilly where we were seated in the center of the side room toward the right of the entrance.

Yelp
Great steak place that has that pub vibe and a great selection of beer and cocktails! I was by myself so despite the place being full I managed to get a seat at the bar. Kaylee is an incredible bartender (and manager I suspect as every employee was coming up to her throughout the night for a plethora of questions) who had great food and drink suggestions while being a veritable whirlwind of activity from cleaning, serving, making drinks, and helping everyone out. I was alone at the bar so between my food and drinks people watching was the entertainment for the evening. Highly recommend Meat as every dish coming out of the kitchen and being carried by looked and smelled delicious! If I am ever back in Glasgow, Meat is going to embrace a must place to dine!

Yelp
Stopped here for our very first day in Scotland and let me tell you it is a must visit. Staff makes you feel welcome and is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and where their beers come from. The food is a real treat and if my belly wasn't so full I would've had some dessert too! The details: Atmosphere/location: cozy bar and restaurant located on West Regent Street in Glasgow. Great ambiance and warmth. You will walk down a couple of stairs to get to it. Easy to get to and within walking distance from many hotels in the city. You can enjoy the views of beautiful architecture as you make your way here. Staff: upon entering we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. We were given great recommendations on the beer selection and our server was wonderfully attentive and pleasant to converse with. I'm sorry I can't remember her name to give a yelp shoutout but she was so kind and made us feel so welcome. Truly a beautiful soul. Food: my husband ordered the Trashcan burger and let me tell you, when I say this was probably the best burger we've ever tasted, we're not exaggerating. This is a good sized burger that is so juicy and mouthwatering that you will wish the experience would never end. The bun is soft and compliments the juiciness of the burger. It is bursting with flavor. I ordered the steak sandwich and was not disappointed. Tender and hearty portions of steak with some greens on a ciabatta roll that your mouth will thank you for sinking your teeth into which you will also wish would never end. Both entrees come with a side of salad. You will have to order a side separate if you're wanting something else to go with it. We got the fried pickles and your get four lengthwise fried pickles in a tempura style breading with a tangy blue cheese dip. It is so tasty and light. Sometimes fried pickles can be over fried and salty but this was perfect. The chefs know what they are doing. I wish I had gotten the haggis bon bons but will have to try it next time. Beer: we tried the Brewdog Elvis Juice which has juicy grapefruit notes and also the Drygate Ax Man IPA has a nice spice to it. Perfect beers to accompany your meal. Thank you Meat Bar for a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Great spot for a casual meal and socializing. I came here alone with gnarly jet lag, the cozy atmosphere was just what i needed to hit the spot. Natural wood bar and paneling made me feel like I was in a little secret hideaway. The food was good, had a sirloin steak that was well seasoned and generous in portion, potatoes salad and a little fried onion makes this the perfect dish to fill a travel belly. Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
Meat Bar was an unexpected substitute on a recent burger expedition, and having heard plenty about it on social media before I was intrigued to see what they had on offer. We visited early on a relatively quiet Tuesday evening, but by the time we were leaving the majority of the tables had been filled. The staff were quick and attentive, which is never a bad thing, and their music choice was impeccable. That's a big deal for me! For starters we chose the ham & chorizo croquettes and the haggis bon bons from the specials menu. We both thoroughly enjoyed our choices, as well as having a wee nibble from the other person's plate as per usual... I did think the croquettes could have benefited from a touch more Manchego, but as a cheese lover that's a typical thought of mine.Regardless, the accompanying tomato jam was the perfect level of sweetness and worked brilliantly alongside both the croquettes and the haggis. We both opted for burgers, one classic burger with cheese and one Grinder (paprika beef patty, chorizo & manchego) and fries to accompany. The Swine Fries with pulled pork, chipotle sour cream, red onions, peppers and jalapeños were really delicious, but cost nearly as much as my burger for a relatively small portion. The same could be said for the plain fries which seemed a tad overpriced for a small portion. When the burgers themselves aren't the cheapest, this was a bit of a bugbear for me. Overall it wasn't a bad experience and I would more than likely return to sample some of the other meaty offerings on the menu, but I think I'll give the burgers a miss in the future.

Yelp
Eleanor C and I visited here for a wee mid week catch up. After we got over the initial disappointment that Noodle on Bath Street was closed we wandered around trying to find somewhere for a bite to eat with a nice atmosphere. As hannger was beginning to strike we decided to just got for it and popped into Meat Bar. It was a cute little place. Small outside seating area. Booth seating indoors and obviously the menu was heavily focused on meat dishes. We both selected a burger with triple cooked frys and truffle oil to share. I had one of the specials, which was a Chicken Satay burger. This was pretty big and really tasty. Nice and tender, juicy chicken breast with all the essential layers. The satay sauce wasn't over powering, just right. The fry's were crisp and hand cut. The staff were attentive, welcoming and it had a nice chilled vibe. I think this place may be good to head for after work drinks or a casual meal out with friends. I wouldn't say I would be rushing back, however it was a completely pleasant experience, and the food hit the spot!

Yelp
Our first night in Scotland took us to dinner here and it was awesome! Husband got a burger with chorizo and I got a ribeye steak special. The steak was thinner than what we're used to in the US, but the meat was SO flavorful and cooked perfectly. Service was quick and friendly, ample beer list and a really creative menu! We considered coming back to this restaurant because we were flying out of Glasgow at the end of our trip, but didn't end up here (regrettably). Totally recommend!

Yelp
We went to Meat Bar for our first dinner in Glasgow, and it was so good we almost went back the very next night! Service was warm and friendly, and the food was great! Great selection and quality steaks!

Yelp
Rabbie Burns famously wrote, ""Some hae meat and canna eat, And some wad eat that want it, But we hae meat and we can eat, And sae the Lord be thankit." This poem applies to Meat Bar, not because the bar is decorated in tartan and Scottish paraphernalia, but because they have meat, tonnes of the stuff, we wanted it, but we couldnae hae it, and so we waited and waited and waited, and eventually did, thankit! Meat Bar is recently opened. Its owned by the same folks as the Palamino aka the Bath Street Pony. These guys know bars. They know good grub and good food, so the signs were all very good. Unfortunately on the day we chose to visit it was evident they were having some 'teething problems'. Although not hellishly busy the layout isn't the best and there are very few tables, which meant we had to wait to be seated. We were told around 30 to 45 minutes, a doo-able wait I thought. Wrong! Half an hour turned into and hour and then an hour and a half. Oooft! I was close to nibbling off my fingers and pretending they were spare ribs. During this time we were just kinda left in a corner with no one asking if we wanting more drinks and no one coming over to tell us how long the wait might be. What also irked me was there were tables of 2 occupying booths when they could have been seated at smaller tables. This meant our larger group could not be seated, so frustrating. Its simple management really, they should have asked if these people minded moving to a smaller table, to allow us in, right? Or just too sensible?? So, during our long wait I had plenty of time to read over the menu and admire the interior. Of special note is the funky kitchen located right behind the bar. What I though was a mirrored wall behind the bottles was infact were all the grub was being prepared, very smart. There are also animal skulls, so veggies beware, this is your worst nightmare. Anyhoo after eventually being sat down we were promptly asked for our drinks and food order. I went for the Girnder Burger, a beef and pork patty with chorizo and manchego cheese. It sounded incredible, but it tasted, well, sorry to say, a bit bland. I couldn't believe it, I was sad :( The cheese was almost invisible, the patty dry and overdone. I don't know what happened. I did however try my friends food and it was all delicious, from the melt in the mouth beef ribs to the smoky and juicy pulled pork. So, perhaps a bad night at the office for Meat? After all its only just recently opened. The staff, menu, chefs are all new and in an unfamiliar location and kitchen. But, based on our length of wait, the fact we were largely ignored for an hour and a half and the fact that couples were sat occupying large tables, I just can't say it was an overall good experience. I have no doubt this place will do well and I'm looking forward to trying the promising food in the next month or so when the dust has settled. Therefore, in the words of Arnie, "I'll be back".

Yelp
I'd been meaning to visit here for some time and finally made it along for lunch with Martyn on Friday. There was a slight mix up meaning I was an hour early. Thankfully there was a really kind waiter told me that was fine and noted they needed the table back at 2.30. Ok. As time ticked on, he suggested I move to another table which was good as that table didn't need to be back by a certain time. I was a little disappointed when I had a proper look at the menu. Nearly every dish is served with bread of some sort - whether it be a slider, sandwich or burger. Out of the main dishes only 4 of them aren't a bread-orientated dish. I guess that I expected it to be more paleo than that due to the name (I'm not paleo but I am trying to avoid bread on a gluten free thing). Anyway, I decided to get a few different dishes - beef brisket, mash with marrow gravy as well as deep fried pickles with blue cheese dip. I felt like the food took a little while to arrive but I was totally starving so I'm not sure that actually was the case. The brisket looked impressive but for me, it didn't deliver in the taste department. It was just a bit on the bland side and possibly needed more seasoning. I was a lot more impressed with the sides. While the mash could have been warmer, it was really smooth and delicious and the bone marrow gravy was rich and tasty. The real stand out though was the deep fried pickles. WOWSERS. This dish was amazing. Big slides of pickles sliced lengthways in half, deep fried and then with a thick blue cheese sauce. I loved it. The prices were pretty reasonable, all up my meal would have been around £15 for a main and two sides. But I just didn't enjoy my visit here that much. While there was one pretty friendly waiter (referred to above) the other one came across as a little hostile. The beef brisket was pretty uninspiring so I left most of it and instead just ate the sides. There wasn't much else on the menu that really took my fancy and I'm a pretty big meat lover. I'll probably come back but I won't rush.

Yelp
I've been to Meat Bar a few times and never really been disappointed, it's been so long and their menu has changed a few times, I felt it was due to re-visit! We had booked a table but when we arrived it wasn't quite ready yet, so we sat and ordered a drink at the bar. I treated myself to a 'French 142' - a prosecco, lemon juice and gin cocktail which was very refreshing! By the time my drink was made, our table was ready to we got seated and looked over the menus. The décor in Meat Bar is one of my favourites in the city centre. Hard wood floors and bar, brown leather seats and stools give the restaurant an American, slightly rustic, western feel, which matches the mixture of blues and country that gets played quietly. The place has a great ambience and the smell coming from the in-house smoker is seriously hunger inducing. We decided to start off by sharing a couple of starters - Crispy Pigs Cheeks and Beef Shin Croquettes. I have to be honest, when the pigs cheeks arrived, they didn't look particularly appetising, but they tasted fantastic. The texture was similar to pulled pork, but a little firmer, and had bags of flavour, I was very reluctant to share it with Sam. The beef shin croquettes were tasty but I felt they needed a little bit of salt. For my main, after deliberating over about four different dishes I settled on the Pork Belly Ribs with quince & chilli glaze. I must have not been paying attention as I missed the 'belly' part and thought I was getting a wrack, so when the huge pork belly slices were sat in front of me I was a little taken aback, but I love pork belly, so I got stuck in! The meat was really tender and had great flavour, but the star here was the glaze. The quince gave sweetness to balance out the chilli to make a perfectly heated, sticky glaze that I coated every bit of meat in. I'm glad I opted for that instead of BBQ sauce. Sam had ordered the 'Meat Dog' - a hot dog topped with pulled pork and crispy battered jalapeños. I tried some of the pulled pork and immediately wished I had ordered it as my main because it was so smokey, tender and juicy. Sam claimed the star was the crispy battered jalapeños, but I'm not a fan of jalapeños so I can't comment on that! To go along with our mains we ordered a portion of the Truffle and Parsley fries which, like always, were awesome. They have just the right amount of truffle so it isn't over powering, crisp on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. The only downside was that we had quite a long wait for our mains. This wasn't a big deal as neither of us were starving, more simply that we got more and more jealous as we watched everyone else's food go by us! On the plus side, the staff were very friendly, chatty and apologised for our delay. For dessert, we decided to share their cheesecake of the day, which was Chocolate, Cherry & Almond. The cheesecake was topped with chopped cherries, while the chocolate sat just above the biscuit base, meaning you got a lovely hit of solid chocolate in every bite. There was a bit of a fight over the last piece - and Sam doesn't even like cherries! The meal came to a pretty reasonable £59, considering that covered 2 courses each, 3 drinks each and a dessert. The quality of the food is so high that the prices seem quite reasonable for what you get, plus your bill gets brought to you in adorable mini frying pans that I'd love to get my hands on!

Yelp
In recent times there has been a number of American styled burger and barbecue joints popping up all over Glasgow, influenced by shows such as Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives and Man vs Food. The latest incarnation is 'Meat Bar' based on West Regent Street. On approach it has a very New York feel to it, with un-rendered walls and neon signage. This theme continues inside with leather clad booths, exposed brickwork, low lighting and tiled walls behind the bar. This give the place a very classy but laid back atmosphere, the music selection was also fitting to create the perfect ambience. This was my second visit to 'Meat Bar' after being a little disappointed on the first occasion I decided time to give it a second chance. Upon entering Me and my good lady were greeted by the friendly staff who quickly led us to our reserved table. One of 'Meat Bar's' unique features is their meat infused cocktails, which include a Meat-Mojito. Having had one on my last visit I opted against it this time and instead choose from the classic cocktail list, selecting the Zacapa Daiquiri for me and the Vanilla & Peach Bellini for Gill. Both were delicious, I particularly liked the subtle smokey flavour of the 'tobacco infused' Daiquiri. As we sipped our cocktails, we scanned the menu, which includes plenty of choice, from sliders, to ribs, to wings and of course the good old burger. We both decided on the wings to start with the BBQ glaze (you can also have with hot sauce). The food was delivered quickly and didn't disappoint. We were presented with 3 plump and juicy wings, which had been marinaded with a dry rub, smoked and finally finished with a barbecue glaze. This gave them a sweet, smokey flavor with a nice kick of heat at the end, absolutely delicious! We were courteously asked if we would like a break before our main, which we graciously accepted. The wings my have been few in numbers but were surprisingly filling. When ready we gave our waiter a nod and within 5 minutes our main courses arrived - Marinated Short-Rib Beef with Bourbon Glaze for the lady and The 'Grinder' burger for moi. We also selected a few sides, Triple Cooked Fries with Cheese, Triple Cooked Fries with Parsley and Truffle Oil and Crispy Dry Rub Onion Rings. The ribs were moist and tender and came off the bone. Although tasty were lacking a little in sauce and came with a lot of fat. The grinder burger is a homemade patty, which contains a blend of beef & pork and is topped with Chorizo and Manchengo Cheese. The patty itself was juicy, if a little of the thick size for my liking. The addition of the smokey Chorizo and creamy Manchego really worked and added depth to the flavor. The sesame bun was light but I personally prefer a brioche. Finally the sides, both fries were delicious, particularly the truffle oil infused. Almost the best I've tasted (Only Chinaski's Truffle, Chili & Parmesan fries can better these). Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, as they should be. The truffle oil is added with a touch of finesse, too much and you overpower everything but too little and you can't really taste the flavour. The onion rings were also very good, using red onion gave it a sweeter flavor than you'd expect, this coupled with a very light but aromatic dry rub made for a great combination. Overall I think 'The Meat Bar' is a welcome addition to Glasgow growing burger/barbecue scene but has a little to go to make it one of the best. We must bear in mind that it only opened in May and I'm sure with a few tweaks and some refinement this could be very, very good indeed. Food 6/10 - Show some great promise but needs some refinement . Service 8/10 - Friendly and knowledgeable, if a tad inexperienced. Decor 9/10 - Laid-back but classy, understated chicness. Value 8/10 - Our bill for 2 was under £60. There are cheaper place out there but not many at this quality. Overall 31/40

Yelp
I had been wanting to try The Meat Bar since I first heard about it a few months ago. I had been a little wary of it not living up to expectations but I was wrong, in fact there was absolutely nothing wrong with this little place!! A great beer list is a perfect place to start. So the bit we are all dying to know..... What I ate!! We skipped starters and went straight to mains. I chose a sandwich, yes just a sandwich! A sandwich that contained Brisket Beef / Swiss Cheese / Grilled Onions / Whole-Grain Mustard / Horseradish / Silky Bone Marrow Gravy and even the sesame bun was grilled. The food was ready very quickly but you should expect that as food like your slow cooked pork or beef has to be cooked and marinated for hours and sometimes days before hand! Now this is where I get a little more than what I ordered, I insist of trying Mr A's food, which was the sliders. Recommended by the helpful waitress she suggested he ordered THREE! Happy days. The classic, The Pulled Pork and The Chicken. Not one bad one even the classic was cooked just right!! All this washed down with a huge bottle of Arran Blonde. So far I'm quite impressed and its about to get better! After polishing off every little bit of food on my plate, a bite of three burgers and a shared side portion of Triple Cooked Chips with cheese we insisted on sharing a desert. Peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream, I have no words for this you just need to try it!! All in all this was a hit for me great beers, awesome food, very busy for a weeknight, good music. I am a fan!!

Yelp
I have been surprised at the very average ratings the Meat Bar has been getting and decided it was about time we checked it out for ourselves. Turned up with no booking and the place was mobbed but they still managed to squeeze us in. Really like the set up inside and the cool decor. They were playing funky 60's & 70's american tunes on stereo - very retro in a good way. Bottled beer list is great, loads of options from Scotland and the states. I went with a harviestoun wild-hop IPA and it was very nice. On the food front the triple cooked thick chips with cheese were lovely. Alongside them I went for a set of three sliders. Pulled pork, the spicy chicken and the classic burger. All were good but the latter was my favourite. The food was well presented and the service was quick and attentive. The best bit of the meal had nothing to do with meat though. The dessert we had was a peanut shortbread with salted caramel ice cream! Amazing! This is that sort of course that you know if you go back you will 100% be getting that again. Meat bar serves really good food and nice beers at reasonable prices.. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. Overall it definitely deserves 4 stars. The dessert nearly gets it 5, but not quite.

Yelp
Really nice meal for a lunch. Staff attentive and couldn't be more helpful. Very clean and the decor was fantastic. My only complaint was I was quite cold but the tea which was like lava really helped sort that out. Will definitely be back

Yelp
So these guys have just opened so I am a little forgiving. Firstly they have done a great job with the decor. Rough yet very classy. Plenty of seating inside and out although I felt the bar stools could do with a foot rest. Good selection of bottled beers but nothing special on draught. Bottle selection seemed reasonably priced for a bar but some of the draught selection was very over priced, They have a unique meat swayed cocktail list however I feel a little overpriced. I am intrigued to try them with their flavoured rums and pieces of meat as garnish. The food was lovely well cooked and well seasoned, however the portion size was a little skimpy for the prices being charged. This isn't really a place to visit as a veterinarian however there was a couple of options. presentation was nice and the food didn't take too long to arrive although their kitchen organisation could do better from watching at the bar. The staff were nice however a little overwhelming. They could also do with learning their menu and learning a bit about the beers they are selling. All in all a nice wee bar in the city that will give many a run for their money. I look forward to trying them again in a month or so's time to give them an opportunity to sort out their shortcomings.

Yelp
My second visit here, impromptu, but it did not disappoint even on a busy Friday night. Sat at the bar as we hadn't booked a table, I ordered a pint of Sam Adams (not the cheapest but good) and then perused the menu. Last time I had sliders (3 smaller burgers of my choice) but this time a companion suggested the steak sandwich and I'm glad he did! A delicious cut of meat, cooked medium rare and well rested, on a ciabatta with a subtle horseradish mayo arrived and the first bite confirmed it tasted as good as it looked. Only slight downside to the sandwich was, and this is a common mistake I've seen in many other places, the steak slices were too large. It's fine if it's a fillet but this wasn't so I ended up opening it up to slice the meat down into smaller chunks. I also ordered truffle and parsley fries on the side which were ok but could've done with a more generous dowsing of truffle oil as the flavour wasn't really coming through but they were tasty enough. Definitely a place for a meat lover (obviously) the staff are friendly and efficient and I won't hesitate to go back.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times now and it is the perfect place to get your meat fix! Currently they have a slightly reduced menu for the Commonwealth games but it is still full of carnivous delights. I was torn between several things but opted for the Splendor burger ( beef patty, braised shin of beef, toasted smoked mushroom caviar, tallegio cheese, roast garlic alioli) with candied bacon as an extra. I think all of us were feeling the love for the candied bacon. I also got the truffle and parsley chips and the mac n cheese to share with a friend. The cocktails also are a talking poiny. I opted for the T-bone Treacle, which was strong and had a meaty garnish and a definite meaty after taste. I definitely couldn't have had more than one as it was quite sickly after a while. The service was good and the servers very friendly and chatty. I especially love their t-shirts that just say 'MEAT' (which you can buy from the bar for £15). There were a couple of drawbacks; one is the size of the place (it's quite small and booking recommended). Another is the price as it's not too expensive but also not that cheap. Altogether for the burger, chips, extra bacon and the cocktail the price was £23. I would say that it would especially handy if the gluten free options were marked on the menu. Overall though I had a really great time with some delicious food.

Yelp
As a late Yelper to this place, it seems to have settled down a wee bit. Popped in twice now and both times, it's been really good. We had chicken wings to start with a hot sauce on the side. Wow.. they were not even the usual tiny wings, but proper man sized one! Absolutely loved them. For mains, I had a bun-less burger first time round & the flavours were absolutely delicious. The triple cooked chips were morerish, but filling. Fiona opted for pulled pork, which she said was the nicest she's had locally for a while. Second time round, I went for a rib-eye steak & that was wow... No lack of flavours or slip in standards from the two visits. Sometimes being stuck in the table at the side of the bar, you can get forgotten about & getting the bill can be a challenge. Thats a minor niggle though, this place really is all about the MEAT & can't wait to pop in again next time I'm passing! You Gotta Eat Here - For Sure! :-D

After returning for a second time, we found the steakhouse was far busier than the last visit, however we had booked ahead, and we were very well looked after by the staff. Haggis bon bons are a must for the starters, and the chicken wings are a substantial portion size, The sirloin steak special is definitely well worth its money, and as ever, the meat is cooked to perfection! As ever we left very full and very content.

Yelp
Best dinner of my trip so far! Steak was great; we had the signature sirloin and t-bone which were both super tasty. Starters were lovely too- I loved the haggis bon bons. :p Service was splendid!

Yelp
I wish I could review the food for this place, as it sounds like it is great, but the service as so horrid that we actually walked out before we could order. The waiter threw menus at us and walked away, then didn't come.m back for 10 minutes. So we left.

Yelp
Need to come back and try more. The side dishes were excellent as was the MEAT. The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Craft beers were tasty. Only gripe is the smell of bbq on your hands will persist so maybe handwipes would be an idea.

Yelp
Had one night in Glasgow and I googled unique restaurants in Glasgow and this was one of the places in the list. We loved it. My dad got the ribeye and I got the burger. The drinks were great and reasonable in price. The two bartenders/servers were fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place. I would suggest making reservations for your dinner, it is a smaller location.

Yelp
Note - I would actually score Meat Bar 3.5 stars - 3 is a tad harsh...4 too generous! I was praying for this place to be amazing, really was. First impressions - cool, exposed exterior signage from yesteryear, neon 'Meat Bar' sign, all good from the outside. The decor inside was equally as impressive exposed sandstone mixed with new wood and good sized, comfy booths, GREAT music, friendly staff who are happy to leave you to it. I had taken a look at the menu and saw a plethora of items which took my fancy, therefore ordering was a struggle. Loads of interesting meat themed cocktail offerings, a few beers on tap - however my choice was way overpriced in my opinion (Sam Adams £5 per pint!?). After trying a bit of everyone's I can comment on as much as possible... - Pork ribs - disappointing, not anywhere close to being as fall off the bone as they would be in a real 'smokehouse' (or dare I say even Tony Romas...I know). - Beef Ribs - Not so good either, huge layers of fat meant it was a real battle to get to the meat. - Grinder burger - A decent burger. - Chicken Wings - Delicious. - Pulled Pork - Pretty tasty. - Mac N Cheese - Tasty if slightly 'watery'. - Triple Cooked Fries - Decent. - Crispy Brisket - Sounded delicious but poor. I think it's one of those things that just shouldn't be battered and fried, too chewy. - Bone Marrow Gravy - Delicious and indeed 'silky' as described. To sum up, VERY cool place, friendly staff, food was just ok. Would I return? Yeah I would give it one more chance, but stick to the staples and see how that went.

Yelp
Just stopped in for a lunch - beer wings and fries. The server was very helpful the wings were fresh and hot (you can tell when someone used frozen chicken). Everything was fresh and cooked correctly. The IPA was very good.

Yelp
Sometimes you get good food... Sometimes you get good atmosphere... It is really great when you get both like at Meat Bar. I wandered in as a single on Friday night @8pm and asked if they had any space even at the bar for me to have dinner. Even though it was rammed the staff ran around to try and find me an actual table. I told them that was not necessary as I didn't want to take up so much space but I thought that was a nice touch. Sitting at the bar gave me the opportunity to observe some of the better bartenders/mixologists I have seen in some time. I stuck with a lager but they were constantly whipping up complicated and delicious looking concoctions. Considering how busy it was the fact that two of them kept up with the pace was pretty remarkable. I had a classic burger and onion rings both of which were very very good. The beef was cooked medium and the bun was chewy and quite tasty. The onion rings had a spicy rub to them which also added a nice kick. The room is pretty small and downstairs so a bit like a cave-but it kind of fits the mood. It was certainly loud but between the shouts and laughter you could hear a sound system playing a range of decent music. Would be a fun place for a medium sized group to start a fun night.

Yelp
Attracted by the stripped-back outdoor decor of this new establishment (was there ever really a "lamp company" on the premises or is that a wee artistic flourish?) I thought I would give it a go for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my dining companion had the "French Dip". Portions were generous and I thought the sandwich was reasonably tasty if not historic. Unfortunately I felt I was "upsold" slightly when encouraged to order 2 portions of chips at £3 each. In comparison to the sandwich, the chips portion is on the mean side for £3, and probably not necessary given the size of the sandwich. It's these little things which can upset an experience and shift it from 4 stars "Yay!" to 3 stars "A-OK".

Yelp
Okay so I've been meaning to write a review of Meat Bar for approximately 6 months, but better late than never I guess! It's a really nicely designed restaurant and it's super handy for the city centre. If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would, but unfortunately I can't and due to the experiences I've had I'm gonna go lower and give it a 3. Meat Bar serves absolutely fantastic food, and the couple of times that I've been I've had an incredible meal (though both times hungover...), but what really lets this place down is the service. Both times I've been in, it's not even been close to being considered busy, but the service has been some of the worst I've had in a restaurant. Having to wait 15 minutes to order, close to 45 minutes on the food and then another 15/20 minutes trying to get the bill is absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately for them the food is so good that I've given it 3 stars, but there are better and more attentive burger places in town that I'd definitely go to before I head here again.

Yelp
The Meat Bar is serving well made, tasty burgers and sandwiches. And deserves more than the 3* reviews it's been receiving. However I think you could do more and have more for the money. It's disappointing to be seeing a menu that's charging nearly a tenner for a burger, but suggests a further £3 for a side. Even if the chips are tasty (and wow are they tasty) this is still enough for Meat Bar to loose 1*.

Yelp
Service was friendly, but seeing as they were unable to deliver the basics, it's hard to say it was good. Enthusiastic might be the word for it, and that is definitely worth something. Firstly, they were out of ribs when we went. Considering 3 out of 4 of my table ordered those (& had been dreaming about ribs on a long 12 hour journey back from a remote Scottish island...), it was a bit poor. The menu is not huge and surely that is one of their main things? Our server took our orders & came back 20 minutes later to say they were out of ribs and were smoking some through the back now and they should be ready at 9...which was an hour and half away from where we were. He promised that he would bring out a half rack at 9 if we were still there so that we could taste them. Okay, fine. New orders made. My 3 dining companions all had various meaty mains, which they were generally satisfied with. I had the veggie burger - and it was honestly really boring. I think I ate about a third of it at most. There was just no flavour to it at all. Shame. The deep fried pickles were tasty, but having tasted them a couple of times now at various places, I wonder if it's possible to make pickles taste bad to me? Pickled or not, I'm not sure - they are like crack to me. We stayed past 9...and decided to order the peanut butter shortcake/caramel ice cream dessert that we saw the next table had - dessert one out of a choice of 3 - nope, they were out. We generally never order dessert so this was upsetting. Oh and we were definitely there pushing 10pm and no taster of those ribs for my rib loving pals as promised. Shame - they really could have salvaged a mediocre experience by providing us with some top notch customer service alongside the enthusiasm! I have to say though, on a more positive note - the cocktails were delicious & reasonable value. I'd possibly return here for drinks and maybe bar snacks only & I think I'd be a lot, lot happier with the experience then. I wouldn't count out going back, but I think there are much better and very similar experiences to be had elsewhere in Glasgow.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while and I'm running out of time in Glasgow to visit all the places I want to! I was out for dinner with Lara on Monday and this is where we ended up. We sat in a cosy booth and although there were no non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu, they said they could make something for me - I asked for something fruity and wasn't disappointed with my huge glass of tropical yumminess for £3.50. I really wanted to try as much of the menu as possible and loved the sound of their pulled pork slider with crackling. Unfortunately the other slider options weren't suitable for pregnancy (one had pate - YUM but not allowed and the other was tartare and I didn't fancy the rabbit one) so I asked if they could do their classic burger as a smaller version. They checked with the chef and it wasn't a problem so I ordered my 2 sliders and Lara and I shared fries. I liked the slightly spicy pulled pork although was disappointed with the little piece of crackling as it was in the slider which had made it a bit soggy from the sauces. My mini burger was lovely and cooked as ordered - well done to keep the babies safe. The fries were awesome - skin on and nicely crispy! I often find in the evenings since being pregnant that I can only eat smaller meals but when we were finished I was still rather hungry so had a look at the desserts. Only then did I spot the mac n cheese as a side! I ended up ordering the cheese cake and a side of mac & cheese. I figure I may as well use pregnancy as an excuse while I can ;) They didn't bat an eyelid and I really enjoyed my cheesecake followed by a good few spoonfuls of creamy macaroni cheese! I brought the rest home for lunch the next day, perfect!

Yelp
My second time in Glasgow (from Los Angeles) and my second time loving my meal at Meat Bar. This time around I got the Sirloin steak with chicken wings as appetizer and my wife got the steak sandwich w the swine fries. Absolutely delicious on all of them. The fries came out a little late and our server took them off our tab which was really nice of him to do. Great service and a cozy spot. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This was a birthday treat. Decided to gather some friends up and go for my birthday. There was 6 of us and they were happy to have us, no issues seating us as we had booked prior to going. We all were excited to try the meat cocktails. So a few of us decided to get some different ones. I chose the meat martini and a few others chose the mojito. Bleghh!! I'm not a big fan of tasting strong alcohol flavours so I didn't really enjoy mine. I love cocktails because they are so sweet and you can hardly taste the alcohol but this was too strong for me. However others at the table enjoyed siping at my drink to try it. They looked really good as the were garnished with some meat. I got a pulled pork burger as that's my new favourite thing nowadays. It was so good and ate the lot as I was rather hungry. My husband and I got chilli fries to share also which were great!! Super spicy just how I like them! Everything was reasonably priced so no complaints there. I think as there is so many meat/burger places in Glasgow now that this place gets over looked. It's a hidden gem in my eyes.

Yelp
The meat cocktails are something different. Try the suckling sour. It was the least offensive from the 3 we tried.

Yelp
I hummed and hawed about a 2 star review here, and whether or not it should be a 3. I guess I'll write the review and see... The Good: meat infused cocktails. I love this idea. And the decor, also good. The staff are damn friendly, credit to the place. Only.... The Bad: If your burger doesn't come with sides, it shouldn't cost that much. Nope. And it needs to be something special, something much more special than that. It wasn't a bad burger by any means, but with the competition that there is in Glasgow, you need to be aiming higher than that. And pulled pork - again, you need to be doing something special.. So we're back to The Good: The pulled pork is, in a crowded market, decent. The addition of apple sauce?jus? whatever it was - was brilliant, and I would have liked to have seen more of it. I chose the dish because of the promise of crackling... The Bad: ...which never arrived. They were out of it, but failed to say when I ordered. They did bring me some crispy bacon instead, but it wasn't quite the same, y'know. And crackling wasn't the only thing that they were out of. For a Saturday lunchtime, this was surprising. Sigh. Ok, I can't give a 2-star on this basis. I'll settle on a 3. A disappointed, must-try-harder 3.

Yelp
The winner of this year's best new bar award in the List Eating & Drinking guide, this was somewhere I definitely had on my to visit list, although I had heard mixed views from folk I know. Firstly, I don't know if it really is a bar in the strict sense of the word. It's not really the place you can pop in and have a quick pint, and it definitely had the casual restaurant vibe: you're greeted by a member of staff when you get in, all of the tables are booked in advance and there isn't a whole load of space outside of this if you haven't got a booking - I had my meal at the bar, although this was pretty comfortable. I liked it as a place to spend some time. It's possibly a wee bit on the manly side, but it uses the small space it has well, looks great (big slabs of wood tables, low but cool lighting and nice signage/menus), and has a good selection of independent beers in bottle and draft. Big stars to the staff, who were uniformly friendly and helpful. I went for my standard cheese and bacon burger, and had some truffle and parsley fries on the side. The burger was great, just on the cusp of being too big, but the burger patty tasted great and the rest of the contents worked well. The fries were great, not overly truffley but full of flavour. I wasn't overly keen on the coleslaw that was on the side though, but there wasn't a huge amount of it. It wasn't cheap though. A burger, fries, a pint and a diet coke came in at £21. Fries didn't come as standard with the burger, which is always a personal frustration (at least offer the basic fries with the opportunity to upgrade). It's a nice place to eat, and the food was good, but it's definitely at the high end - go there if you want to impress! Overall, worth a shot, definitely if you want to go somewhere for a treat.

Yelp
We were on our way to Babu Bombay and the sign in front of the restaurant caught my eye. Korean pulled pork bun! There aren't a lot of take away options but figured we literally just had lunch it was the best option to grab something to go and have it later. In my mind, I thought it was going to be more like a hirata bun but it was like a regular burger bun thing. It was a bit saucy and the messy side and way bigger than I expected! It was really good and tasty... but my korean bf also agreed there was nothing Korean about it. Nice try - and a good marketing ploy to get ppl like me to try it. Overall, it was pretty good and wouldn't mind trying some of their other take away burgers.

Yelp
I have been to the Meat Bar a few times now but never have i sampled their food. today i reminded that. Now i am going to get this out of the way first, the staff. the staff where all lovely. really nice and friendly. they are the reason its a 3 start review and not a 2 star review. Opting for their classic burger (beef patty / tomato jam / mustard mayo / pickle) at the price of £8.50. Now right away MB broke one of my burger commandments "Thou shall have fries if thy burger be expensive!". Some places justify a dearer burger with no side by having the burger be damn tasty. Sadly MB didn't get to use this loop hole. The burger was "nice enough" but no where near as nice as i would like to only get £1.50 change from a tenner, especially as it costs a pound upwards to add extras such as cheese. For a place called the meat bar i would expect some serious burger action sadly their classic burger only gets a 2.5 on the Jules scale. It didn't help that the burger arrived on a large plate with a small portion of coleslaw that made the burger look smaller than it was as it was a decent size. And now on to my other bugbear and its something that is annoying me more than it really should but if you have run out of a particular part of the dish, in this case the crackling that should have came with their pulled pork don't not mention it in the hopes that no one will notice, especially when its £9.50 for the dish. Upon querying this at the bar the staff sheepishly appeared with a few bits of crispy bacon as a substitute. It Just struck me as a bit cheeky. The pulled pork was really nice i must add. To summarize, for a venue that offers fantastic meat infused cocktails its just a shame that the food didn't match up to its potential. I will be back, just not for food.

Yelp
Make sure you make a reservation! They have their time down to a science. We went there without a reservation, and they were nice enough to let us eat at the bar. The steaks are thinner than the American steaks, but was still tender and delicious. The fries and salad were out of this world! It was perfectly balance and I wish I could eat a whole plate of that! My fiancé would tell you I am crazy, but it was really good! The service, I wish I could give them 10 stars. The server was super attentive and so friendly.

Yelp
This place was brilliant. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and very, very tasty meat - they deserve to bear that title. The part I enjoyed most about this place was the music, and that always makes such a big difference! The only point of criticism I have is that when I asked for the ribeye steak, our server told us that they had run out of almost all the steak apart from the bavette, sirloin and rump. This was fine, and I ended up trying the bavette (which I have never tried it before) and it was extremely delicious! It ended up being £9 cheaper than the ribeye and I was very satisfied with it. I just wish our server told us beforehand that most of the steaks had ran out! Overall, I would highly recommend this place. I'm going to come back and try their intriguing meat cocktails, I hear very good things about them.

Yelp
The search for the perfect Steak/Burger/Pint/Martini brought me to this sub-terranial establishment - and it did not disappoint. Had The Grinder Burger, along with a local Drygate Brew and both were Fantastic! Great service and atmosphere (soul music also on tap ). Nice reminder of why you should choose the funky independents versus the glitzy chains.

Yelp
Meatojito was excellent! It was a perfect mix of a meat cocktail, not too sweet and not too salty. Delicious. Service was excellent! Steak was great, try the fried pickles appetizer. It's jumbo sliced pickles, not pickle chips.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice in the last fortnight and I have to say I think it's my new favorite place to eat, the food is sooooo good. Both times I've been in I tried food from the smoker first I have the pulled pork shoulder which was so tender and the flavors was just amazing the herbs they use mixed with the smokey flavor coming from how it's cooked is just every meat lovers dream, next time I have the ribs and again the meat was so tender it just fell off the bone. The triple cooked fries are by far the best fries I've ever tasted easily. My husband got the rib eye steak the second time we went and asked for it cooked medium rare it was cooked to perfection and was very yummy (I stole a taste myself), we both really liked that the steaks are not on the menu but up on the board within the restaurant because it's different fresh cuts they get in everyday. I also felt for the money the portion sizes are just right not to little and not too much, and would say the alcohol was fairly priced, you can even get a pint of william's brothers on draft which I personally think is a great pint. The service was great they have some very friendly and helpful staff. Last time we were in we ordered some cocktails we weren't to sure what to go for as the cocktail list is very adventurous with cocktail containing meat, when asked if we wanted a desert menu we said no as we were going to have a cocktail instead the guy asked if he wouldn't mind him recommending a few we were happy about this as we really weren't to sure about them. My husband ended up getting the T-bone which we were told the rum had been flavored by sitting in brisket it had been garnished with jerky and I may be wrong but I think also had orange peel but regardless it was amazing you could really taste the smokey meat taste infused in the rum it was truly unique, I got tea infused gin, I love gin and tea so this was right up my street it also contained orange peel it was so damn yummy. The place has a great atmosphere and is really pleasant to be in, so yeah highly recommended... unless your veggie this is not the place for veggie's.

Yelp
So delicious. The Hagis Bon Bons were amazing and the burger is out of this world! So fresh tasting. The chocolate dessert is also mouth watering! YUM!
