Found this place on google and so glad we decided to stop. We tried a little of everything. Beef brisket, chicken, ribs, sausage, wings, rib candy and baked beans. EVERYTHING was excellent. Leane told us the history of the place including the introduction of the French Fry to the place. If you are near the area- STOP. Meat boss will not disappoint. Closed Sunday and Monday.

I have been a long time customer of meat boss and several years ago this would have been 5 stars. However, they have really gone downhill in terms of taste and quality. My last brisket sandwich was burnt and tasted like bitter wood was used to smoke the meat. The potato salad was bitter and not what it usually is. I have noticed a downward trend in the last 6 months and it really stinks because this was one of my favorite establishments. Trying to remain a loyal customer because I know the Husband (Dad) of the family business is no longer with us. I hope they improve to become what they were again.

I met Ethan today at Meat Boss and he was very helpful with my decision making. He recommended the Boss Burger with added slaw pepper jack cheese and white sauce! 😋 this place is a 10/10 there is no debating when it comes to the Best BBQ in the city hands down!!! Oh, and I never leave without the smoked brisket!

I tried the smoked 1/2 chicken. It was good but, chicken was on the small size. Tender and I could taste the smoke flavor. I had banana pudding for my side. Probably made a few days ago. It was on the runny side. I will go back and try some BBQ pork.

We've had BBQ catered from Meat Boss many times and it's usually good. We decided to stop and dine in for lunch today. As we pulled into the parking lot we could see the smoke coming from the smoker and smell good BBQ. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and pulled chicken sandwich, each with a side of potato salad and boss beans. The service was good and the food delivered to our table in about 5 minutes. The flavor of the BBQ was really good. The meat was tender and juicy. The only complaints we have is the meat was not hot at all. The temperature was like room temperature. The potato salad had little seasoning and was slightly dry. Maybe the next time the meat will be hot and the potato salad seasoned a little better.

This place was recommended to me by a coworker. I normally don’t do reviews but after my visit today I decided I would. Pulling up it smelled awesome. Ordering the cashiers seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The brisket had a good flavor but was really dry more like beef jerky. The banana pudding was runny and more like a soup with slices of bananas in it. Needless to say I was not impressed.

I've been eating at The Meat Boss for a few years and the food is normally OK. There have been times that I've ordered 2 days in a row from there but on my visit last week, the food was horrible. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich meal, like I do most of the time, but the meat had a bad taste. It didn't taste like it had been barbecued at all, but put in an oven instead. There's a certain taste bbq that has been in the oven gets and this pork had it along with an old taste. It was also chunks with fat instead of shredded the way it normally is. My baked beans didn't taste right and had pieces of pork with fat in them. I never had their green beans before that day, but they tasted like someone opened the can and put them in to go cups. No seasoning or flavor at all. I almost ate half the sandwich and couldn't continue. I ended up throwing the meal away. I tried calling for over a week to discuss this privately but they wont even answer the phone. I may give them a while a try them out one more time to see if things get better but idk🤷‍♂️

Traveling thru town and found them on Yelp. Tried the brisket and ribs, awesome. Plan on stopping there on are way back

So incredibly good, we wanted to find a true southern bbq spot and this was it. We had the chicken, pork and brisket and everyone loved what they got. Was in between downtown Mobile and on our way to Belengrath gardens. We would have come again during our trip if we were staying closer. Worth a try for sure.

Amazing food. The ribs and pulled pork is smoked to perfection. The baked sweet spuds and boss beans are to die for. Their sauces are the best I've ever tasted. Most of all they aim to please with their food and their service. If something isn't right they MAKE IT RIGHT with no questions asked. They have a customer for life.

We love coming to Meat Boss for some of the best BBQ around. The brisket is always tender, smoky, and full of flavor. But what really keeps us coming back is the rib candy--it's absolutely phenomenal! If you're a fan of BBQ, this place is a must-try. The quality of the food and the friendly service make it one of our regular go-to spots for bbq.

Went by there yesterday and tried their Triple D burger that was featured on Food Network. It is a big burger with their rib candy on it plus you can get it in a combo with one of their sides and a drink. That was a lot of food so I shared it with my husband. It'd been a while since I'd stopped by and I appreciated how patient the person was who took my order and helped me with their order process. It's so clean and bright and the people who work there are so nice!

Just had the turkey breast combo w/Mac & cheese and banana pudding. OMG! So very good naked with plenty of spice and flavor; add the Carolina spice and delicious! Guy Fieri's Diners drive in's and dives approved too! Owner personally visited with guests! Nice and we will be back!

I'm a foodie so I like trying everything! All of the meats here are grilled to perfection!!! If you like spicy sides, the bake beans are for you! The mac m cheese is delicious and I love that they don't put the sauce on your me

Best bbq in Mobile. Food quality is great. Prices match the quality. This is counter service. The dining area is very basic. You're not coming here for the atmosphere. (Most of my orders are to go). Be advised, they sell out of items quite often. If you have your heart set on something, consider ordering a day in advance. I like the ribs, the turkey, and the brisket.

Visited back in April with no issues however today counter service was not helpful as we tried to order 2 meats and sides. They claimed they didn't hear us order the beans and potato salad so they counted 2 drinks as our sides. I bought BBQ many places mainly Texas home to the best in world and drinks are not a side. When I called to give feedback they justified their actions.

Very delicious BBQ. The smoked wings are amazing. Get there early because the wings don't last long. I highly recommend Meat Boss.

Delicious BBQ! We are from Texas and were excited to find a great place to get brisket on our road trip to Florida. It was not fatty meat at all, super delicious sauce flavor, great beans and macaroni! Would for sure travel off our route to eat again in the future. Easy order ahead online so we put the order in when still 30 minutes away.

Meat boss was pretty good actually. The food was good, service was quick, and the overall vibe of the place was chill and. Nice.

OMG! This is the best bbq EVER! From the sauces to the buns... and the meat is perfectly cooked with a nick bark on it . It's moist and delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We'll be back soon!

Driving from California to Florida you have to try different barbecue! Luckily for my son and I we chose "Meat Boss" about 10minutes off the 10fwy near Mobile. I ordered the pulled butte with fries and baked beans. My son ordered the pulled chicken (same sides).... These baked beans were to die for! So hearty. They could have been the main dish. My pulled butte was tender and juicy. No fat. I had the Carolina and Spicy Carolina sauces on the side. Both were very good but I liked the Spicy more. My son devoured his sandwich. The fries (baked not fried) were very well done! Not soggy or overcooked. Not too salty. We started a conversation with LeeAnn. She was a sweetheart. Talk about Southern hospitality. When she found out we were driving from California to Florida for my Coastie son, she brought us some traditional Alabama sausage and the Alabama sauce to try. The best surprise was the candied burnt ends. Wow were they amazing. If you are ever anywhere near the South!!!! Take a trip to Meat Boss!

The food and service here is always top notch. We love their pulled pork, chicken and miss the breakfast.

The food is excellent. It was my first time eating it. The indoor dining isn't the best, & the menu above the counter could be more readable. It seems to be more of a place for to-go orders & catering, but the service was quick, & it's well worth your money & time overall!

The food portion are huge. The service is timely and the restaurant is very upscale for bbq establishment.

Super cute & delicious! So thankful for Yelp!! We would've never found this place if it wasn't for Yelpers! On our way from New Orleans to Fort Rucker and needed some lunch. Searched for places off hwy 65 and came across Meat Boss. Knew when we pulled up we were going to like it here! Not too crowded at 1:15 on a Thursday so that was nice. Hubby and I both got brisket on sweet rolls. Then we each fixed ours up completely differently. He got a combo with beans and Mac n cheese. We also ordered the meat candy. And I got a chocolate chip cookie. Everything single thing we got was delicious! I ate half of the cookie before our food came out. Then we both polished off our sandwiches. I had a bite of the meat candy and hubby ate the rest of that along with some of his sides. He couldn't eat it all but wanted to try it all. He said they were equally good and got about halfway through each side. Definitely a gem of a find.

Meat Boss is a solid option. They close early so you have to plan on it for lunch or order catering and take it home for dinner. I highly recommend the smoked chicken with their white sauce (and I typically don't opt for white bbq sauce on anything).

The Bottom Line: The Meat Boss is large and in charge when it comes to BBQ sandwiches. Would I drive over 7 miles outside Mobile to try some highly rated smoked meats? It does help when it's on my way to Biloxi. Walking in I was welcomed with walls adorned with license plates, and customer artwork drawn on the brown paper bags all their orders come in. Normally I order a plate of brisket to compare a BBQ joint against its peers but Meat Boss doesn't play like that. Instead they specialized in "make it your way" sandwiches. I ordered the pulled brisket with white sauce. The cashier suggested I also try the "rib candy." More on that shortly. Here's the rundown on my meal: Pulled Brisket: everything I wanted in a sandwich. The brisket was piled high and as a fan of white BBQ sauce (go Alabama) it paired well with the meat. Mac and Cheese: Your basic creamy macaroni and cheese shells. Potato Salad: Also in the creamy variety, a solid choice. Rib Candy: The cashier said this is what people travel from afar to get and I can understand why- it was the meat with the most flavor, a complex smoky and sweat combo. Maybe it was a good thing it was served in a small one ounce portion because I could have made that an entire side to my meal. What can I say? In a region where seafood and smoked meats rule large, the Meat Boss clearly owns the later.

When you're looking for barbecue in Mobile, there's really no better place than Meat Boss. Everything from pulled pork to chicken to burgers is outstanding. The sides are very good, too. I've never had a bad experience there, the employees are always friendly and helpful. Orders are prepared quickly, and there's no waiting around for takeout. They have lots of seating indoors as well as outside, so it's got a great atmosphere for dining there. I eat there whenever I can, and recommend them to everyone. If you haven't been there, you're missing out!

My husband is from Texas and is very snobbish about his beef brisket. We have had the brisket several times now and it NEVER disappoints!

Way too much food for me and my husband but we wanted to try a little of everything! The sausage gravy is delicious! Pancakes are huge and so good! I did the conecuh breakfast wrap and got the sausage gravy to go with it. Will definitely be back next Saturday

Was looking for a bbq restaurant while on vacation. My wife found this place on Yelp. It had excellent reviews. We both had the brisket sandwich. They give you a good amount of brisket! No fatty pieces were in the brisket. Several side to pick from. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly.

My favorite place in Mobile Alabama not only do they have superior barbecue also have a great breakfast choice. A++

A winner! As a senior and a foodie, I have eaten a lot of BBQ in my life, shoot, in every stafe! Well I'm exaggerating but I really have eaten many pulled pork sandwiches in states known for BBQ : Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida, the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, even Hawaii (korean is awesome!). But this place in Mobile is my favorite. Here they call it pork butt -- pulled pork butt. Either in a sweet roll or regular roll. I chose regular roll. Oh, the flavor! Smokey, tender, and the sauce--sweet and spicy-- was just delicious. The sandwich was huge and if I wasn't such a pig (no pun intended), I would have only eaten half. But I couldn't stop! This was a takeout order so a small container of slaw came with, separately. The other awesome surprise were the baked beans which were a tad spicy and had pieces of that pork inside! All of us LOVED the baked beans. And I never order baked beans. These were the best. Potato salad, would not order it again, sorry, not my style. Rack of ribs, a bit salty for me. And not enough fat, too lean. I know people avoid fat nowadays but truly fat gives meat its flavor so get over it!!!! I regret not trying the brisket. Next time! Cause you can be sure that when I go back to Mobile to visit family, I will be going back to Meat Boss! Can't believe I never took pictures because I always take pictures but this time, I was too busy scarfing down the pulled pork sandwich. Aw Heaven! Oink Oink.

Delicious Bar-B-Q!! We have tried the bar-b-que pork sandwiches, ribs and chicken. Everything is very tasty with just the right amount of spice.

Geez, I'm not sure how this place gets such great reviews. The meat was ok but the sides were pathetic. Prices were very high I thought and the wait for our lunch was unreasonably long.

So being from Austin and Texas where BBQ joints are as common as Taco shops, I was a bit skeptical of Meat Boss when someone recommended it. He said it was the "best BBQ in Alabama" - that's a pretty big statement and one I haven't even made about any one place in Texas, at least not yet. I went in with low expectations. I asked the guy at the counter what he liked the most on the menu and ordered per his recommendation. A pulled pork sandwich on sweet bread with pickles, and sweet bbq sauce. The combo came with two sides and I opted for mac & cheese and banana puddin'. To sidetrack for just a moment, Covid-19 is a new reality and this restaurant had safety in mind. Everyone was wearing masks, the tables were well spaced, they had someone get my drink, and had a couple of tables set up for their takeout/pickup business. When the food was delivered to my table, it came in a paper bag with disposable utensils enclosed in plastic, salt and pepper packets, extra napkins, lids on everything, and the sandwich wrapped. All new standards that were well appreciated. Ok, back to the food. So, hands down, the Meat Boss has by far the best-pulled pork I've ever, and I do mean, EVER tasted! I literally savored every bite! I wasn't that sold on the Sweet BBQ sauce and I probably should have gone with the Spicy Sweet or White sauce instead. And oh my gosh, the sweet bun, purely heaven! Tasted like a giant Hawaiian roll, add pulled pork, sauce, and pickles and it was beyond amazing! The Banana Puddin' was really good and the Mac & Cheese hit the spot. So yeah, this big Texas boy found BBQ outside the great state that truly beat any other place I've ever tried. And trust me, I eat a ton of BBQ! I'm already planning my next visit and want to try their Rib Candy, White BBQ sauce, and their brisket. They also sport a pretty nice looking breakfast menu, so might be two more trips there while I'm in the city. Super friendly staff, very clean interior/exterior, not smokey inside like other BBQ joints I've visited (good for business folks), and a great menu selection of smoked and grilled meats. Prices are very fair for the area and noticeably lower than back home. They also sell their bottled BBQ sauces, think I need a full set to take back as a souvenir!

Best BBQ. So many options but the process of ordering makes it easy plus the staff is so patient and helpful. You order your meat, what you wrap it in (bun, no bun, potato), sauce, and toppings, then your side. Have to agree with reviews get the brisket or pulled pork...delicious. For sides we had beans, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and banana pudding. All delicious. Beans had bits of meat, mac n cheese creamy, coleslaw great on sandwiches or by itself not to sweet and hubby said banana pudding was good and creamy. We will definitely be back. It can get busy but they are fast and it is worth the wait. They have also expanded the dining room. A must try. Sorry no pics of food. We forgot and were so hungry.

Their BBQ is very tasty with 4 different bbq sauces from sweet to spicy to spicy sweet. I love their sauces. The place is generally packed so service is the one area they could improve.

Stop looking!!! This spot is the only one you'll need when that taste for BBQ comes around! Seriously! Quit scrolling! This place is magic- from the Rib Candy to the pulled pork sandwiches. I highly suggest piling on the add on's to your sandwiches. Be good to yourself- you deserve it! I order pulled pork on the sweet bun, sweet & tangy sauce AND EXTRA Alabama sauce, coleslaw and pickles. After all, what's bbq if it not messy!?!? Loaded potatoes are also something worth checking out.... However if you load it up with briquet, that price will sneak up on you. $50 for lunch for two is way too high for my budget although the bar be cue was excellent. Forget ambiance and service because there isn't any.

Best BBQ in Mobile! Boston Butt is amazing, large portion and priced right. Must try the breakfast too!
