Food was slow to come out, servers understaffed, and we received 2 tough slices of brisket cut along the grain, instead of across, which gave us strips of dry, stringy meat. This is a basic BBQ faux pas. On the bright side, the rest of our food was great. We got the platter of everything and the ribs in particular were done very well. Burnt ends were cut right and tender, which helped to scratch the brisket itch. Sauces were yummy, fries fresh. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant, which got a bit busy. Thankfully near the end they had a 2nd person on the floor.

Surprisingly, they have an amazing vegan option. We walked all around the airport looking for something filling and somewhat affordable and saw that they have what looked to be a filling salad with apples and lots of vegetables. Some of the BBQ sauces are also vegan- they sell the BBQ sauces near the front with the labels, so you can double check ingredients. The staff was very accommodating and I don’t think they get many vegans, but it was very nice to have some healthy fare.

My flight was delayed for hours. Disappointing. But the silver lining is that it gave me time to try Meat Mitch BBQ at the Kansas City Airport. First off - two positives. Service is surprisingly fast (which is important at an airport). And the burnt ends had good flavor and texture. They could've been a little warmer but I'll not quibble about that. This was the best barbecue I've had - at an airport. The baked beans were really good. Full of meat. The slaw was fine. Nothing special. The curly fries (which I didn't order; they mistakenly added them to my platter) weren't great. But my server was pleasant and attentive.

Google
Had high hopes, complete let down. Mac& cheese was cold noodles with 1/2 teaspoon of shredded cheese on top that never melted. Burger had 2 small pieces of grilled onions on top of what looked like a burger king meal. My wrap looked like it was assembled by a toddler, holes through the side and a complete joke. 2 small bits of bacon, some lettuce and chicken not even mixed up. Skip this place......

Google
Moist delicious BBQ. Burnt ends are amazing! The brisket was recommended and was also a hit. Big selection of BBQ sauce at the table. Friendly staff, food served fast. Very good for an airport.

I had a disappointing experience at Meat Mitch Kansas City Airport. Given the name, I expected a great barbecue experience, but there was nothing on the menu for pescatarians. There weren’t any Impossible Burgers or other plant-based options, and the selection for people with dietary restrictions was sadly lacking. If you have specific dietary needs or are looking for alternatives to meat, this place won’t meet your expectations. It’s a shame, especially when traveling, to find such limited choices. Overall, it was a letdown and not a place I’d recommend if you’re not a fan of meat.

Google
At the airport, neat gate A10. Overlooking the runway. Slow service despite few customers. We had the pickled pig sandwich. Grilled pork, cole slaw, fried pickles. Made a little carelessly. Taste just so-so. Crispy curly fries were ok. Outrageous price for a beer, $12.50 ++ There are better BBQ alternatives at the airport

Google
Long wait for takeout (15min), but it's worth it! I got the all star platter with brisket, burnt ends, and pulled pork; all 3 tasted great and went well with their BBQ sauce. The mini side of curly fries that came with it were hot and crispy. Best airport food I've had!

Yelp
I recently spent a few days in Kansas City and did some research on the best places to eat at the airport. Someone on Reddit recommended Meat Mitch, and I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed my experience! I visited around lunchtime, and while it was busy, I was able to get a table without too much trouble. I ordered the All-Star Platter, which includes three meats. We chose the black Angus carved brisket, smoked burnt ends, and pulled pork, along with two mini sides: potato salad and chopped coleslaw. The platter also came with pickles and Texas toast. Our waitress was fantastic. She took our order promptly and was very attentive. Despite the crowd, our food arrived quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. Each table had a selection of six different BBQ sauces to try, which added a fun and interactive touch to the meal. While the meal felt a bit pricey, it was plenty of food to share between two people, making it much more reasonable. However, I was disappointed to hear that they ran out of mac and cheese that day. Overall, I thought Meat Mitch was excellent, and I'd definitely visit again.

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Airport location- Got the ribs and a cocktail. Ribs came with two sides- I chose the Cole slaw and baked beans. Was very filling and portion was generous. Satisfied my bbq craving. Service was outstanding. Julie took good care of me.

Steven W.

Yelp
I checked out Meat Mitch BBQ with a friend while we traveled to Kansas City. I tried the 3 meat plate which was good for Airport food. The brisket was not as good as I wanted it to be but the burnt ends were tasty and had a nice texture. The service was fantastic and was always there when I needed something. So it was ok but remember that you are in an airport and for some reason it jus was not as good as outside the airport!

Dustin E.

Yelp
Pretty slow service at the airport. The burnt ends were kinda okay, but chewy. The sausage was really interesting. It had corn in it. That's a new one for me. Didn't love it. The sauces were better than the meat for sure. Likely will not return.

Libby G.

Yelp
Want to give a shout out to JULIE! She was amazing with what she was working with. There were a few items that were unavailable, staffing was short and kitchen wasn't doing the best, but Julie was rocking it! GET THE FRIED PICKLES! They were fried perfectly and ranch was included! I got the smoked fried chicken salad and a few topping were missing; bacon and potatoe stix. The salad was pretty boring and the chicken was cold but had good breading. We also got kids burgers, beware there were jalapeños on it. Not sure why it was added on a child's meal. There was a self service draft beer station, which was pretty cool, didn't use it but awesome feature!

Yelp
Meat Mitch is good and getting better. In most cases, I can never understand why restaurants don't deliver the same quality when they're inside an airport. At least with barbecue, I know some of the challenges they have to provide to the same level as the home restaurant. With Meat Mitch, it seems as if they are working out some of those issues, and each time I stop here, it's a little better, a little better, and a bit better. Pretty soon, I will be expecting perfection, and then delivering just like what I have become accustomed to. in the meantime, it's as good as you can get in the airport.

Matthew D.

Yelp
You could provide transparency on what you provide for the price. The sandwich was good but ok for the price the sides are a rip off 7$ for what's about $0.30 of lettuce with only a tiny bit of cheese. Mac n cheese was not good and also $7. $35 for what's should have been $15 outside of an airport seemed a bit stiff.

Robert P.

Yelp
Okay, so I was pleasantly surprised. The food was a lot better than I expected being inside the airport. Conveniently located and with good views. Prices weren't that bad as well. I had the brisket chili and the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and pickles. The service isn't that great, felt a little more like a burden. I would eat there again.

Sam S.

Yelp
This location does not do justice to Kansas City barbecue. Not sure if it's a brand or just an airport location. The staff and service was good, but the food was OK. Ribs were OK, didn't seem fresh. The the brisket and birds were OK. They're barely any sides to pick from, the bread is OK, but the beans were not good at all. If you're really hungry and don't mind mediocre barbecue, this place isn't bad. I would next time just eat somewhere else in the airport and definitely leave the Kansas City barbecue to of the Real locations

George H.

Yelp
Multiple flight delays had me looking for dinner at the Kansas City airport. In general, the KC airport does not have good food choices in my humble opinion. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich which came with avocado. The avocado was very gray, after that came off it was just a turkey sandwich. The curly fries were nice and crispy, and the different bbq sauces offered on the table were very good.

Jon N.

Yelp
Not bad at all. Away from the crazy bustle of the gates, there is good service and some decent BBQ. Burnt End Bites, and the Power Crunch salad with pulled pork.

Micky B.

Yelp
I was so surprised at how good this place was especially after reading some of the reviews. This is the first airport restaurant I would spend anytime writing anything about. The cocktails were great. The food was delicious. I have the half rack of ribs, potato salad and beans. Ribs were tender and flavorful and the sides were tasty. Our server was polite and service was quick. Drinks were costly but the meal was appropriately priced. I fairly critical, but I would eat there again.

Erica W.

Yelp
Customer service was great. Food came out quick. Was a little pricey but it is inside of the airport. The ribs were good. I also ordered burnt ends and brisket. Didn't really finish because it was fatty.

Karl B.

Yelp
I was not happy about the fries not being included. I paid $5.75 for them and they were decent but not worth the $5.75. I ordered The Royal Double burger and it was pretty darn good. I recommend it despite it being expensive $13.80. It's one of those things though - this was the only nearby restaurant in the airport that had a halfway decent Yelp and Google rating and I was hungry and had a long layover and so I didn't have much of a choice. Service was decent once I was seated but prior to that I was standing there for 5 minutes waiting to be seated and there was a line behind me waiting as well.

Yelp
When I enter a city, I'm always looking for the foods that city specializes in. So when I dropped into Kansas City, I just had to have some of that sweet and rich BBQ that KC is known for. What surprised me was that I was able to find some right in the airport. I had a 3 hour connection delay which is long enough to get something to eat, but not longe enough to Uber and go out of the airport. Fortunately, Pitmaster Mitch Benjamin's newest location is in the middle of the new KCI terminal and has been serving Q since it opened in March 2023. It's tough to do quality food in an airport because of logistics, fluctuating crowds, limited space etc. Bit even tougher to do good slow cooked meats and sides, yet Meat Mitch is able to pull it off. Service - Our server Amanda was by herself this Sunday evening yet she was friendly and efficient and kept the tables and bottle tops clean. I asked her what her favorite dish was and without blinking she said "Cheesy Hog Fries". She said, "I eat them almost every day", yet her slender build did not corroborate her story. Cheesy Hog Fries (5 stars) - A whopping mound of Curley does that can easily feed 5. Topped with pulled pork, pig candy, melted tillamook cheddar, pickled jalapeño, and ranch and you've got an ultimate comfort food. Bigger and better than expected, plus the fries were crispy and the sauce was just drizzled in and it too heavy. BBQ Plate (4 Stars) - Pull tender brisket and smokey pulled pork were moist and flavorful. I only wish there was more. Sides - (4.5 stars) - The baked beans were sweet and rich and loaded with chunks of burnt ends. Savory and surprisingly good. The Cole slaw had a nice blend of sweet and vinegar and a sprinkling of chopped vegetables. Power Crunch Salad (4 Stars) - Often salads are an afterthought at airports and BBQ places but this one was nicely done with avocado, quinoa, hunks of apple, candied walnuts, craisins, pickled onion, and two cups of lemon vinaigrette. Light and tasty. ProTip - Hunt down a bottle of "Whomp" early because most tables run out fast. Wanna catch some KC BBQ but can't leave the airport? Try Meat Mitch

Brendon L.

Yelp
Airport location of Meat Mitch. The menu is limited and has airport prices, but still Meat Mitch quality. The burnt ends are fantastic and anyone visiting KC should give these a try while in town and it's so convenient. It was later in the day and they were out of beans (which are usually great), so I had fries. They also had beer choices on tap. All in all, one of KC best bbq spots.

T B.

Yelp
Amazing. We had smoked turkey and burnt ends with salad and fries . It was fun to try all the different sauces

K R.

Yelp
Last chance for Kansas City BBQ before flying out. Good thing I had some time to spare. Friendly and fast service, top notch view of the ramp and runway. Food was excellent-possibly the best airport food I've ever had. I recommend the competition style burnt ends, Whomp sauce to boot.

Maya C.

Yelp
I decided to get the Competition Style Burnt Ends Platter to take away my second time at Mitch's Meat. I enjoyed it so much the first time. Big mistake this time around. All Star Platters. Specifically says that each come with Pickles, Texas Toast and two mini sides. 1) When I opened the container after i got on my plane, it missing the Texas toast! 2) I got the 2 mini sides of coleslaw. I got them, but instead of having the a lid (so that the slaw sauce was contained), they had it wrapped in cling wrap which was messy and dripping into the container with the burnt ends. Took off 3 stars and left two for the burnt ends. They're good, but it would have been better if I had gotten what I paid for. Felt ripped off. Note to others. Open your take away before walking away. Makes me think that they may do this intentionally since everyone ordering take away is trying to catch a flight leaving pretty soon (therefore not eating in.)

Yelp
It is always difficult for me to leave reviews for a poor experience so I hope this business sees this and does better. I will start off by saying I have been around the hospitality industry for my adult life. I do understand the importance of turning tables and table availability. I waited at the host stand to be seated and when greeted stated that I need a larger table as I needed to do some work and needed the real estate. He said that shouldn't be a problem and showed me to the back of the restaurant and still attempted to seat me in a 2 top. I pointed at a 4 top and asked if I could sit there and he said no that's a 4 top. I said I would understand if you didn't have at least 8 4 tops empty and 2 6 tops and that's at quick glance. I then declined and said I guess I will go somewhere else. The gentlemen seating me who I assume was the manager scoffed and said ok as if I was being unreasonable. I left walked across to the pizza place and gave them my business and they accommodated my request. I would have completely understood if they were anywhere near capacity. Btw I have 3 hours til my flight and would have spent and tipped accordingly. Hope this helps.

Brian S.

Yelp
Wow, talk about incredible airport dining this it it! Tender burnt ends and brisket, these are absolutely mouth watering, Nice variety of sweet and spicy bbq sauces to choose from. The slaw and beans are on point along with the crispy toast too. Don't waste your time at the chain restaurants inside just go here and do yourself and your stomach a favor.

Oliver S.

Yelp
For starters, this was a to-go order, but this was just such a huge disappointment. Airport location of Meat Mitch was such a letdown when compared to their original location. The quality of the burnt ends and sausage had clearly been sitting out all day and were dry, barely warm. The service wasn't bad, and it was prompt. Airport seating and view is comfortable, but $26 for 4 well below average ends and a shriveled, horribly tasting smoked sausage. Naturally, their sauces were 5-star and amazing... but they're a smoked meat restaurant, not a sauce company. I love you Mitch, and hopefully this was just an off day as I've previously had excellent burnt ends here before, 6 to 9 months ago.

evan n.

Yelp
The brisket sandwich was fine, but it was the smallest portion of meat I've ever seen for $18. The bun was the normal size, but the amount of meat was what you'd expect on a slider roll. I could have eaten two and I wasn't even that hungry. Not worth the price until they right-size the portions.

Edwin O.

Yelp
Service was spectacular and the food was good! Better than some other BBQ places. However, the add-on St.Louis ribs were not worth it. BBQ was also not too hot/warm. But brisket and burnt ends tasted great.

Danny W.

Yelp
$14.95 double brisket burger (least expensive burger option). Tasted great, but small to average in size and incredibly overpriced.

Chris L.

Yelp
We were in Kansas City so I had to get barbeque. Ambiance was great. Staff were friendly. But I found the food to be skimpy. I got a pulled pork sandwich, and while it was tasty, I felt that you really didn't get much meat for the price. Probably wouldn't come back as it was a bit expensive for what you get.

Ron V.

Yelp
In KC less than 24 hrs and would've left without enjoying any BBQ. Manager opened up Meat Mitch early so I could have brisket & eggs before my flight. Food was great and service beyond the call of duty! This is what legit restaurants do.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
My family had a mixed experience here. My father is the biggest food critic and a home bbq connoisseur, so please read! I took notes throughout the meal. We had a reservation, and the hostess tried seating us at a high top. Two seniors were with us, and that was not appreciated. We asked for a booth, and there was one open, but the hostess said none were available. We were seated at a secluded table by the window. Twice during our meal, the door next to us was used which probably should have been locked, as there was no outdoor patrons in the winter. Very drafty! Pepsi products were not impressive, but the sauce selection on the table was a hit! Other restaurants you have to ask for all the different sauces, but not here. Score! The ranch with fried pickles were good. There was dill in the ranch. Yum. The waitress said the burnt ends were more on the fatty side, but could ask the chef for leaner cuts. Burnt ends and ribs were "to die for" according to my father. Ribs were way better than Oklahoma Joes, more meat and less work to get off the bone. The turkey was solid, but the pulled pork was dry af. The pork lacked any fat, seasoning, and crispy bits, thus lacking flavor. The fries were cut too small, making them cold quickly. There is a reason they serve them in a bag. The potato salad had more salad than potato. Beans were solid. The platter for two offered potato salad, beans, and fries. Two potato based choices is a weird thing, but whatever. The sausages - two different ones were alright. Nothing to write home about. The smash and grab burger was so amazing. I would only order that again. Omg. The fresh jalapeños and flavor were so good! Our server was a high school student. She needs a bit more training. No water refills even when empty glasses were on the table. We had to request soda refills, but no water refills were offered. The biggest and most offputting thing was when she offered the bill while my father was still eating! She offered a box as well. Sorry, but $150 bill please don't rush us. She also never cleaned off our table when she came to ask us if we want the bill, to give us the bill, and to give us the box, and to return the credit card to the table. Mixed feelings overall, with both positives and areas for improvement.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick lunch after landing from a flight. I chose this place because I wanted BBQ and they also had seating that looked out onto the runway. Let me break my review down: Food: I ordered the power crunch salad with a side of burnt ends. The salad was described as being a salad with kale, broccoli, quinoa, apples, walnuts, craisins, pickled onion and a lemon vinaigrette dressing. What I received was a salad with a few limp pieces of kale, a few shredded pieces of broccoli, a couple of small pieces of diced avocado, lots of walnuts & craisins, a bed of romaine lettuce, a hearty sprinkling quinoa, a handful of apples and pickled onion. I was very disappointed at the quality of the kale and broccoli and the scarce amount of avocado in the salad. I will rave, however, about the dressing. So yummy! The burnt ends came on top of my salad (I tried flagging down the waitress to have her put it on the side but I could never get her attention. Not sure if she was deliberately ignoring me or if she was just way too busy. Anyways, I immediately took off the meat when the salad was delivered and put it on a side plate. I enjoyed the burnt ends separately and with the different BBQ sauces they had. The burnt ends were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. I guess it was my fault ordering a salad at a BBQ restaurant.... I definitely would order burnt ends again if I do decide to come back to do take out. Beverages: I ordered a draft beer but the waitress said the draft thing wasn't working and they only had canned beer. I ordered a local beer (wheat beer by Boulevard Co. Brewing) which was great (and at $10 a can). I also asked for a glass of iced water when ordering my beer, which I never did receive while there. Again, the service was not good. Location/Ambience: It is located in the central area of the airport in a far corner where you can sit and watch the planes. That I did like. They also had a few TV's that one could watch if they were so inclined to do so. It was clean and roomy and inviting. Service: The service was lacking. I most likely will not visit again to sit down and enjoy a meal. However, I may swing by and order the burnt ends to go if I get a hankering for BBQ next time I land.....or wait and get BBQ elsewhere

Peggy C.

Yelp
We were seated promptly, had the burnt ends, brisket and side salads. It was cooked to perfection and tasted delightful. Excellent service. Definitely recommend..

Aaron C.

Yelp
I often hear that TX BBQ can't hold a candle to KC BBQ. That's incorrect this place is pretty bad. All the meat is fatty and tough and all the BBQ sauces are corn syrup sweet. I would skip it. Servers were kind though.

Stephen M.

Yelp
There are lots of food options at the new airport. Coning through MCI on a Saturday afternoon, I had set my sights on BBQ. My flights were in Terminal A, and so Meat Mitch was the spot. The restaurant space is decent-sized with windows to the tarmac on two sides. The menu is pretty sinple. If you're used to a lot of side options, this menu will leave you wanting something more. I had wanted to try two meats and looked at the platter, but those sides left me wanting to just stick to the meat. I settled on a turkey sandwich and I added on a 4 oz side of the jalapeno sausage. The sandwich came on a potato roll and was loaded up with turkey. The sausage was a bit cheesier than I expected, but I wasn't about to complain! The one ding they get is that they carry Coke products (including Mr. Pibb), but no iced tea. I was pleased with the quality and quantity of food for the price. I'd stop back through again if I came back through MCI.

Jim J.

Yelp
How does this place have a 3.5?? It was legit excellent BBQ. We got the 3 meat platter and the burger. We tried the ribs, burnt ends, brisket. It was some of the best BBQ I've had. The beans were unbelievable. Everything was delicious. Definitely not your average chain bbq.

Dustin J.

Yelp
Mix meat plate with coleslaw and potato salad. Ribs, brisket, burnt ends and pulled pork. All were great. Loved all the sauces. Price are airport prices, but worth it. Service was great as well for 1pm on a Tuesday after Thanksgiving weekend. Definitely going back next time in KCI

Kristen G.

Yelp
Great food at MCI just before flying out. Meet Mitch BBQ should not be missed. Great service!

J W.

Yelp
Very shocked with how good the food was. My waitress was very helpful and passionate as well. For being a BBQ in an airport this deserves more than a 5 star review for me. The ribs were delicious, moist, and not caked up with bbq sauce. Very impressive!

Tom J.

Yelp
Not bad at all for airport food. The meats were tender and the sauces flavorful. Service was attentive.

Kesia J.

Yelp
Great portions, delicious food and even more delicious sauces! So glad to find this yummy spot in the airport so that I could get some KC bbq before leaving!

Lauren M.

Yelp
1. Food was decent. The cole slaw was not that good but the burnt ends and beans were pretty good. They have a good assortment of bbq sauces. 2. Service was very good. The server was very friendly and attentive. 3. This place is located right as you get past security. Obviously, this is an airport so not much view, but I thought the seating and ambiance were clean and decent. There are also televisions if you want to watch sports.

Ann H.

Yelp
The food is good, the service is great! Julie J is an awesome waitress! So friendly, helpful and just cheerful!

Aoki C.

Yelp
Baby, when i tell you this the best bbq place in KC. I'm really gagging at how good the food is.

Elise W.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect from airport bbq, but other than it being pricey which is to be expected in an airport the barbecue was actually really good. Only ordered a sandwich, but the pulled pork was Smokey and had a good texture. The guy next to me ordered the burnt ends which were like $23+, a little too pricey in my opinion especially when you don't know what you're going to get. However they looked amazing and it looked like a decent portion as well.

Gretchen L.

Yelp
Outstanding pulled pork sandwich - very good food especially when expecting a bag of peanuts at the airport between flights. Note the coleslaw and fried pickles are on the sandwich. Wish it were a little bigger fur the price. Very tasty. Six different sauces are at each table. Very good - especially liked the yellow brick road. The self serve beer/wine stations are fun especially if you want just a 2 ounce taste of a local beer. I liked the Space Camper IPA. Staff were friendly. Everything clean.

R M.

Yelp
I would love to say great things about this place but after sitting at a table for 20 minutes after the hostess sent me down, I had not even been approached. The guy behind me had been there for 40 minutes without getting food. there were plenty of waitstaff. One or two of them just hanging out at the counter. There are four barbecue joints in this airport. I think I'll try a different one.

clinton g.

Yelp
Poor experience. Highly recommend you to go across to Martin City or further into gate b to Pigwich. On arrival there were few patrons. The host advised they were out of pulled pork and burnt ends would not be ready for 20 minutes. We wanted to order the kids chicken strips and a smash burger for us so we did not think it impacted us. Kids received chicken strips quickly; comments were the food was tasty but not very warm. The burger did not arrive. Server later advised they were now out of hamburger and getting it from another restaurant. We waited another 20 minutes. After over 30 we asked on status and they said they received it and were working to quick thaw it out. We ran out of time so we left without sampling and paid for the kids meals. No courtesy anything was offered for the poor experience. One other complaint was that we could see the cook. She was wearing gloves which was good, but eating constantly in the kitchen. Not a great look.

Scott P.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Naked and afraid! Expensive but worth it! Go there!

Mytwocents ..

Yelp
For airport food it's the best. Had a layover in MCI and figured BBQ would help pass the time. Food was good beer was cold and service was out of this world. Chantrelle was our server and was one of the nicest people i have ever met.

Sarah T.

Yelp
1,000%. This place was no joke. Can't believe we had such good bbq at the airport. Bought sauce to take home. Wish we could have taken pulled pork but they didn't sell it by the pound from the restaurant. Potato salad was amazing. Loved this place. Wouldn't mind having a layover in Kansas City airport.

Jason B.

Yelp
Best burnt ends and brisket I've had here in kc. Q 39 was my favorite bbq place until I found meat mitch!
