Loved this place! The vibe is super relaxed and the staff are friendly. Of course, the traditional Swedish meatballs are great, but what really surprised me were the vegan meatballs seriously some of the best I’ve ever had. Flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and not just an afterthought on the menu. Great sides too, especially the mashed potatoes and lingonberries. A must-try spot in Södermalm, whether you eat meat or not!

Google
Great Spot for a True Meatball Experience If you’re looking for a real meatball experience, this is the place to go. The restaurant offers a wide variety of different meatballs depending on the day sometimes even options like bear meatballs, which I unfortunately didn’t get to try. The ones I did have were really good. The dish came with mashed potatoes, traditional sauce, lingonberries, and pickled cucumber, all of which complemented the meatballs perfectly. The interior was cozy, the atmosphere was spot on, and the staff were fast and friendly. They also had a nice selection of drinks to choose from. However, I found it a bit pricey for what you get. We ordered the Meatball Feast for a minimum of two people, which lets you try different varieties of meatballs. While it was a good experience overall, the price felt slightly high for the portion size.

Google
We had a good experience here. The food was really tasty, although the portion was not that big and the prices are quite high (but that's Stockholm in general). They have a wide selection of types of meat and side dish. The staff was really friendly and the order was brought fast. They also have a good beer selection. It's important to book before going!!

Google
Great place to try out different types of meatballs. The reindeer is the leanest, wild boar and bear quite exotic. Beef, pork and chicken for the less adventurous! The place is very cosy and the service excellent. Book early and be prepared because it gets packed quickly.

Google
This restaurant was such a unique, but fun experience! As an African-American woman traveling for the first time in Sweden, the food was tasty, warm and comforting. All of the employees were extremely helpful, pleasant, and friendly when it came to helping us decide what to choose. I had the regular pork and beef meatballs found in USA of course, but my friend had veal meatballs, and she did say they were also tasty as well! Definitely recommend to all international travelers coming to visit Sweden. Also it’s noted to go during less peek times maybe after lunch or prior to dinner @7 PM as stated on another Google review. Space can seem limited and definitely was semi- crowded for 6PM DINNER on a random Tuesday or Wednesday.

Meatballs for the People – Tasty Late-Night Bites with Mixed Impressions Stopped by Meatballs for the People late in the evening, just as they were getting ready to close indoor dining. The staff was courteous enough to let us order and eat outside at the patio tables, which was a nice gesture. We tried a variety of meatball samplers that included every option on the menu. The conventional beef and pork-based meatballs stood out as the most flavorful and satisfying. In contrast, the more adventurous options like boar and other exotic meats didn’t quite hit the mark—interesting to try, but not as enjoyable in terms of taste. The sides were solid, and the drinks were pretty decent—nothing standout, but well-mixed and enjoyable with the meal. As for the atmosphere and pricing: it's a casual and trendy spot, but the prices are definitely on the higher side. While the branding and concept are fun, it’s hard to tell whether this is a local favorite or more of a tourist hotspot. Worth a visit, especially if you're nearby and curious to try something different, but go in with tempered expectations and a willingness to explore the full range of the menu.

Google
“Meatballs For The People”—a spot made famous to us by Travel Man. Queueing is a way of life here, but after no more than a fifteen minute wait, we scored bar seats with a view of the kitchen. We were tempted to go all-in with the chef’s selection meatballs but we were (I was) nervous that we would end up eating a bear. Instead we selected our preferred meatballs, which arrived with creamy mash, sweet-tart lingonberries, and a carafe of house red. Heaven on a plate, honestly.

Ayşe Nur Ü.

Google
Loved the idea of 6 different meats (yes, even bear!), and it’s definitely a fun spot for unique flavors. But waiting an hour in –1/–2°C cold raised my expectations a bit too high… the beef tasted pretty average. When you queue that long, you expect a little ‘wow’, right? We also wanted to share dishes but they didn’t allow it. The welcome staff were lovely, but the service team wasn’t as kind

Yelp
Still the Best Meatballs in Sweden - Worth the Flight Every Time I came in this evening, and as always, it was phenomenal. I travel to Sweden at least once a year, and this restaurant is one of the main reasons why. Tonight, I enjoyed my favorites - reindeer, boar, moose, and lamb - each perfectly prepared and served with the traditional sides of creamy mashed potatoes and sweet-tart lingonberries. Every bite reminded me why this place has become a personal tradition. The service was exceptional. My server was warm, attentive, and genuinely engaging. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Matilda, who was effortlessly juggling serving food, setting tables, and keeping the entire dining room running smoothly. Her energy and her smile could light up the entire space - it's rare to see someone work that hard while still radiating such positivity. Meatballs for the People never disappoints. Whether it's your first visit or your fifteenth, you'll leave full, happy, and already planning your return.

Yelp
The people have good taste! This restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere with a rustic feel. It used to be a meat packing/meatball manufacturing facility. They also had a nice bar area to sit at if all the tables are taken. The service was great! The server did a great job explaining the menu and giving us a little history lesson. My guest got the veggie meatball plate with gravy, mashed potatoes and loganberry jam. I got the same plate, but with 3 random meatballs. The meatballs I got were Elk, Boar and Bull. They were all a bit gamey, but still tasty. Yes, I did try Bear. The bear was interesting too! It was gamey as well, but had the most lean and meaty flavor of them all. The bull would be considered the most "normal" in my opinion with a beefy taste mixed in. Come for good food and an interesting experience!

Yelp
It seems like every blog on Pinterest says to come here so I went. We waited for a table about 15 mins. That was enough time to check the menu and have our order ready. The inside is small but they maximize their seating. Everyone working was very friendly. I tried the beef/pork with the vegan gravy on my potatoes (I'm not a fan of veal gravy). Goodness was that the best decision ever. The meatballs were tasty and I love lingonberries when I get the chance to have them. But the vegan gravy stole the show. If someone wants to share that recipe with me please do. More than half of our group is vegetarian so I can say the veggie balls are a crowd pleasure. We were disappointed the salmon balls were sold out but veggie options are always appreciated.

Yelp
When in Sweden getting swedish meatballs is a must. We decided to go here based on recommendations. They have a big variety of different meatballs. We stuck to the classics. The berry sauce was delicious but the gravy could have been more flavorful. The meatballs were okay. They were a tad dry for us. We enjoyed our meal but probably wouldnt go back. The service was slow. Took a while to get water and order our food. The restaurant has outdoor seating as well as inside.

Yelp
The Swedes are known for IKEA, Volvo and their love for spherical meats. I now understand why. Meatballs for the people serves a variety of meatballs ranging from chicken, pork, beef...to the somewhat exotic moose, reindeer and bear. The bear was actually so juicy and tender, definitely not something I can enjoy in the US. Their lingonberry jam was also to die for. They also brew their own lingonberry based drinks that gave me a nice buzz :)

Yelp
DO NOT go here without a reservation. We stopped by at night thinking we could wait for a table. There had to be 15 - 20 people outside waiting to be seated late in the evening. Well that definitely made us want to try again! The next morning, we were at the door by 11AM. We were still asked for reservations, but they were able to accommodate us. By the time we left, the place was packed. This was a Monday afternoon! As far as the meal, they have a surprisingly creative drink menu. I highly recommend the Lingen Mezcalita! There are at least 10 different types of meatballs to choose from. We did the chef's choice and were given deer, chicken, beef and pork and the order listed would be the order in that I enjoyed them in. Every meatball is delicious though and I'm sure everyone's tastes will differ. The crowd for this place is justified! Go if you are able!

Yelp
Get here early because there will be a line. But trust me that it's worth it. I got the chefs sampler which allowed me to try a little bit of everything. My friend is flexitarian and ordered the plant based meatballs. The portions were plentiful and the cocktails were delicious! So glad we came to check it out!

Yelp
My mom found this spot while researching meatballs in Sweden. They're known for the wide selection of meats (from salmon to veal to moose). I got the beef and pork ones (traditional). We waited almost an hour to get in and knew in advance there would be a wait (many parties waiting in front and behind us). They made you wait across the street. It's very loud, tight, and cramped inside. The meatballs were good, very tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes were soft and fluffy. I wouldn't say this spot is a must go (unless you are getting an exotic meat) but it was yummy nonetheless for their classic style.

Yelp
Fun vibe except that the seating on the steps where we were first seated, although great unusual concept needs a tweak. I hit my head on the table behind me, we had feet hitting us and feet stepping on our costs. After moving to a small table for two we enjoyed the most delicious meal of classic Swedish meatballs with smooth mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickled cucumbers! I want more! Oh and the savory gravy. They had a great choice of beverages as well. Fun helpful friendly waitress. Glad we went here.

Yelp
Here you get the traditional Swedish meatballs, and in case you are wondering - yes they are pretty much what you find in any Ikea... of course having them on a proper restaurant in the middle of Södermalm makes it a bit more special. Meatballs for the people specialize in "balls" - but the variety comes when you are asked to choose from a lottery-like board filled with animal shapes which of these creatures you would like your meatballs made of. I went for the moose ones, and they were very nice. Gamie but not that much- well seasoned and fun to eat. All plates come with pomme purée and lingonberry sauce (much like a cranberry but maybe a bit less tart). This is One of those must try meals for a first time trip to Sweden but not much than that. Do not expect anything beyond what it reads: meatballs and mash potatoes. And if you are fine with paying 232 Kr (~USD 22) for this you are ok. Now - be aware there is always a line! And when you finally get to be seated- the wait for your plate can be 20-30 minutes so better if you eat something before getting here and organize your agenda accordingly. Service is quite nice- lots of young college students work here and are very nice and fun!

Yelp
My family and I came from California, USA and let me tell you something, you have to go to Meatballs 4 the people. 1- Food. They have the recipe for the real stuff. Amazing! Meatballs are small and real meat, order a lot. 2- Service by Jose 100% perfect 3- Ambiance is nice and the decor is modern and cool. We ordered to go as well too good!!!! Thank you Sweden

Yelp
Delicious! Got the traditional and chicken meatballs and both were moist, flavorful, and had large side (risotto or potato). Lingonberry juice was also tasty. I dont think vegetable sides were available at the time which I think would have been refreshing with the heartier/saltier main We made reservations as it was quite busy and glad we did.
google avatar

Rowan F.

Yelp
The Swedish meatballs were excellent - we tried chicken and beef and the texture, temperature, and flavor were second to none. There were also tons of protein choices for the meatballs. A bit too adventurous for my taste but I'm sure some more daring culinists would enjoy greatly! That said, the dishes were small and the pasta that one came with was not piping hot. It was also pretty pricey ($23 USD per plate) and the outdoor seating was limited. Servers were friendly and not overbearing. Overlooks a fairly quiet semi residential area so a nice atmosphere vs old town.

Yelp
MEATBALLS FOR THE PEOPLE... I love the name, and when in Sweden why not!? At home, I go to IKEA to get my Swedish meatball fix and I don't even think that should compare to the real thing here. This place is super quaint, pretty packed... we were able to walk in just two of us thankfully at 12:15 for lunch. I have to say the lingonberry drink is freaking amazing! The Swedish Classic was so good, with the lingonberry and I was quite surprised, the vegan sausage was great as well! Def a good spot to stop and try out some meatballs!
google avatar

Tracey F.

Yelp
Stopped here during a food tour and were served traditional meatballs with all the sides and a lingonberry beverage. This particular spot was small, it seems like there is always a line out the door here. There are several different kinds of meatballs to choose from, so if you want it, they probably have it here. I would call this place more like an upscale fast food restaurant; while it is a sit-down, it seems like everything comes out pretty quickly. The meatballs were good. I didn't love the gravy or lingonberries here as much as other places I had tried, but definitely worthy of a stop.
google avatar

Rani T.

Yelp
Best vegan meatballs I've ever had. Even though there was a crowd waiting outside, we were seated quite quickly. The interior layout is a bit cramped and tight but they are efficient in using their space to get people seated as fast as possible. They prepare the dishes fresh so it does take some time for the food to come out after ordering but the menu is simple yet customizable for dietary needs. The salad has a good variety of grilled vegetables and heavy on the potatoes. The paprika sauce really pulled the whole thing together

Yelp
I came here because there were lots of suggestions on the internet to try this place. I made a reservation for lunch on a winter weekday and there was plenty of room. I ordered the classic Swedish meatball meal and a glass of lingonberry drink. I was a little disappointed as the meatballs were a bit tough, the gravy had a consistency of having sat for a while, however the mashed potatoes were nicely seasoned. And the drink was also very tasty. This restaurant gave me the feel of a tourist trap. Somehow, it's gotten great online marketing that suggests this is THE PLACE to go, however I was able to find a more authentic Swedish meatball experience elsewhere.

Yelp
Great place to try Swedish meatballs. Much variety. We really enjoyed the food at Meatballs - For The People.

Yelp
Place was packed on a Sunday afternoon with long lines outside. Staff was able to get everyone seated in a timely manner. Pretty big interior and lots of options of meatballs to choose from. Came to Meatballs for the People since I've seen a ton of reviews online, however it did seem a bit overrated and touristy. It wasn't the greatest quality of meat. Wish the mashed potatoes were a bit more seasoned. Enjoyed the garlic bread. Pricey.

Yelp
A casual meatball restaurant. I arrived at around 7PM by myself. At least ten people were in the queue already, but they let me in to a counter table straight away. I felt a bit guilty, but I guess that's one advantage of solo travelling. I sat at a bar counter where you can see the busy kitchen. The veggie meatball dish was very nice. The menu is simple enough and it's easy to this side. I waited for about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but I enjoyed. It.

Yelp
You can't leave Sweden without trying their Swedish meatballs and Meatball - For the People is the perfect stop for getting that fix. You can't help but feel cozy when you walk in, there is something of a cabin in the woods ambiance (not like the movie!) where you want to sit down with friends and have fireside chats about deep life topics. My friend and I came on a Friday afternoon and it there were enough seats for the hostess to seat us immediately. In a few minutes, our server came and took our order. We opted for the "We Love Meatballs" entree since you get to try four different meatballs in one sitting without having to order four separate entrees. We also ordered the Gulash A La Meatballs with bear meatballs and a hot shot. The meatballs were so flavorful and championed slightly different textures. My personal favorites were the beef and the bear but all of the meatballs were unique and delicious in their own way. The gravy that came with the meatballs was tasty and hearty and complemented the meatballs and mashed potatoes. The sides are just as amazing with the sweetness of the lingonberries, tart pickled cucumbers, and fluffy mashed potatoes. I usually don't have too many potatoes to save stomach space but these potatoes were divine. The Gulash A La Meatballs is similar to a soupy version of spaghetti and meatballs without the spaghetti but better. The dish wasn't too heavy and the whole potatoes were a contrast to the fluffy potatoes in the "We Love Meatballs" entree. And the hot shot is the perfect way to end the meal. This is the way coffee and alcohol should be combined every time. Topped with a decadent and dense mildly sweet cream. Just get this. In addition to food, the service throughout our meal was friendly and attentive and made sure that we got everything we needed. I wish I could go to Meatballs - For the People and have these meatballs every time winter came around, but I guess I'll have to settle for Ikea until I can make a trip back to Stockholm.

Yelp
I'm not usually a meatball fan in the states, but having meatballs here changed my perspective on meatballs overall! We got the classic meatballs. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I was expecting the meatballs to be on the dryer side but they were very moist and cooked perfectly. The gravy added on top was delicious as well! The service here was great, they were very quick. We got sat up on these upper bench/floor which gave us a whole view of the restaurant. It was a very interesting design and added to the uniqueness of this place. Overall, I would love to come here again if I'm in Stockholm in the future. Would definitely recommend to others!

Yelp
Trash. We've tried all of the most recommended Swedish Meatball restaurants, and Thu was by far the worst. A sore spot is the plating process, where they prepare the accompaniments (Lingonberries and cucumbers), and let them sit and wilt near heat lamps - they then pull the very premade meatballs from a convection oven and dump them onto the plate with a tiny bit of lukewarm veal gravy. The meat is over mixed and rubbery (great if you like Ikea's frozen version). The restaurant area is cramped, and our clothes reeked of kitchen smells when we left. Does not compare to places like Pelikan, Prinsen or Operabaren (our top pick) - don't bother.

Marla R.

Yelp
Nice drinks and great servers. In a great area of Stockholm , Sodermalm . Food was fun and so was the look of the place. A definite place to go while visiting Stockholm
google avatar

Jay C.

Yelp
Had to wait about 15 minutes in the middle of a Friday afternoon. This place must be packed on a weekend! The "hostess" was also a server and table busser. The place is small and packed with tables, so there is no room to wait inside. The restaurant has good pop music from the 70's playing at a perfect volume and has a good atmosphere. The menu is limited, but the name of the restaurant says it all. There is a decent beer and wine selection, and some fun cocktails, like the one pictured. I don't know if they take reservations, but it seems like they don't. They are quick about getting tables cleaned and prepped for the next guests. The quintessential Swedish Meatball... If you are a tourist, you should put this restaurant on your "must go" list of restaurants!

Yelp
We were excited to try this place because, obviously, the name and then the ratings are pretty strong. I guess, don't believe the hype? Fun space, but really cramped and uncomfortable. Servers aren't overly friendly (but they're not rude or anything) or attentive, and the food is good, but WAY overpriced for what you get. We got the "Feast" for 2, which is about $65 for 16 mini meatballs (with mashed potatoes and some pickles and lingonberries). Servers never asked if we wanted additional drinks, nor did they ask how things were. It felt more like they wanted to just turn tables and rake in cash. It's not terrible, but we wouldn't return.

Yelp
Excellent food and experience! The various types of meat in the meatballs were all excellent. A great opportunity to try reindeer, boar, deer etc. the waitstaff were also excellent and attentive. Super long line to get in but worth the wait.

Yelp
(Last visited 8/10/2021.) Hanging out in Stockholm for the weekend and I went hunting for the best "Swedish" meatballs in Sweden! Funny enough, quite a few people encouraged me to visit Ikea of all places, but they weren't worthy of me writing about them, but here... at Meatballs - For The People... they're more than worthy... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on a not-so-busy street corner is this gem. The exterior brick and rounded awning just flow so well while fitting into the European architecture that was downtown Stockholm. Inside is pretty cool and very chic. The bar is the centerpiece of the entire restaurant and there are tables that surround it. The most interesting part though... was to the right of the bar. There was like... stadium seating, which I had never seen before. You sat on these wooden benches complete with pillows, a table and everything. It was super freaking cool. Service: Sofia took excellent care of me and she was so sweet. She clung to me being American and just made sure I had the best experience ever. Food: So I wanted to try a variety of things so that's exactly what I got! I started out with the "All In A La Meatballs" which is an order of 8 meatballs of your choice of 4 different kinds (they offer 10 different kinds and even more on some days) which comes with mashed potatoes with cream sauce, a veal gravy, preserved lingon (lingon berries) and pickled cucumber. I'll get to the meatballs later, first, let's discuss how savory and creamy the mashed potatoes are! Not to mention, how PERFECTLY the lingon berries cleared your palate after each bite of the meatballs. Now, to the juicy stuff. I was able to try 6 varieties in total and there are my favorite in order of most to least. Beef (deliciously tender, salty and savory), wild boar (great mild gamey taste), lamb (it's lamb, I simply love lamb), beef/pork mix (decent, but didn't needed to be blended), moose (quite gamey, but worth trying out, I don't know where else I'll see moose on a menu) and chicken (it was okay, a bit dry). The flavors I didn't bother trying were the veal, vegetarian, reindeer and pork. They were out of reindeer that day so that's the only reason I didn't get it. Lol. All in all, the meatballs were fantastic and this is where I'm sending people if they're looking for the best in Stockholm! Value: "All In A La Meatballs" will run you 245 kr. That's about $25.49 in USD. Now that is a bit pricy for some meatballs with some sides, but I'm tellin' you, it's a good portion and the quality is certainly there. I ordered 2 extra orders of "Tapas A La Meatball", which come in orders of 3 and you can choose whichever flavor you'd like. (That's how I was able to try the lamb and the moose flavors. Each other was 89 kr which is about $9.26 in USD. So all in all, I blew about $50.00 on meatballs, but I'd do it again, IMMEDIATELY. It's totally worth it. In conclusion, I loved this place and am so happy I was able to find it! It's truly worth every penny and it goes beyond a regular restaurant. I feel like I could lounge around in here for hours just sipping, enjoying the ambiance and just relaxing. Check this place out if you ever make it to Stockholm.

Yelp
If you're in Sweden, you might as well! I tried different meatballs in this small, cute, PACKED, restaurant with a few friends. It's not the greatest for large groups because it's small inside but we were a group or 4 who sat alongside each other at the kitchen bar. Everything was delicious, staff was very nice, I recommend!

Yelp
If you're coming from a different country and looking for meatballs, this is a place you need to try out. Different type of meatballs, and meatballs galore. Here to test out the whole swedish meatballs and had your fair share of it from IKEA? Yeah, this is probably a place to put on your itinerary. We came here during lunch it was packed. But the food came out quickly and the tables were flipped pretty fast (for a European spot). We ordered the Sharing is Caring dish that would feed for 2. It came with pretty much meatball flavors picked by the chef. Even though you won't get the more exotic flavors such as the reindeer (which I was most interested by). But the flavors that were chosen were your normal, chicken, pork, beef, but some that were different were the boar (duck, but I think that's normal). The mashed potatoes though, whew. That was on point. The butter that they put in a well was awesome too. It was well seasoned and when you ate it, it sort of just melted in your mouth. The lingon berries along with the cucumbers were a definite nice side to the meatballs. Mixing them together was just also something nice as far as the flavor profile. There were some meatballs that didn't hit right, but overall I felt that the meal altogether was good. So if you're in the area, I would recommend coming here to try out the meatballs. There are other places you can go to, as almost all restaurants have their version of meatballs. But to be able to try multiple types of flavors at one place, this can be a good spot to be on the list.

Yelp
They're dog friendly and super nice, this review is for the meatballs and skagen. Everything tastes very fast food/touristy. The wait is long and the tables are very small making the dining experience pretty crammed. They were really nice and moved us to a bigger table when it started slowing down. Overall good customer service and mood but the food is over hyped and really salty. The skagen was dry and the gravy that came with the meatballs watery and lacking flavor. Would recommend made in Sweden which is just one block over if you're wanting authentic swedish meatballs that tastes like your grandmother made them rather then this. Update: they charged us 20kr for Water?! Never going back

Yelp
if you're visiting sweden, you have to try swedish meatballs at least once. meatballs for the people is a hip restaurant that specializes in meatballs and has a variety of meats. though i thought the restaurant was quite overpriced, the food was tasty and they are good at what they do. we came around 2pm on a sunday for lunch and it was quite crowded but we sat at the bar. it was nice to see the cooks preparing the meatballs in front of us. there are a lot of different meatball types, as well as additional dishes beyond meatballs, but i chose to get the plate with veal meatballs just because it was different. service was friendly but it took quite a long time to get our food (30-40 minutes). so, we were very hungry by the time we ate. // veal meatballs (220sek) // the meatballs themselves were quite nice. they were flavorful and a good consistency, and i liked that they had some herbs in them. the gravy was also good, pretty standard. the mashed potatoes were more of a creamy consistency (i saw the chef blend them and pipe them out of a bag which was interesting). overall, i am glad i came here as my one and only swedish meatballs experience while living in sweden. however, it is quite expensive. of course, it tastes better than ikea's 40sek meatballs but 220sek for meatballs was a bit higher than i'd have liked.

Yelp
Excellent place! The atmosphere is really nice. It took us about 30 minutes to get in, which we didn't think was too bad! We really really enjoyed it. We have of course tried other Swedish meatballs while here, but nothing compared to these! They were sooooo flavorful and hot, so delicious. I got the spaghetti and meatballs with beef meatballs, and they were really good! I wasn't as big of a fan of the pasta, but it was still good, it's just that the meatballs were SOOO good they by far took the cake! My husband got the traditional Swedish meatballs (pork and beef) with lingonberries and potatoes, and it was all delicious! The serving of gravy was a little less than at other places, but the rest of the portions were very generous! We got beet as well. The bill overall came out to be about $65 USD, which we didn't think was unreasonable! Overall highly recommend for some wonderful meatballs.

Yelp
OK I'm gonna admit two things. 1) I was totally convinced to come here because the name made me LOL. 2) I am sure there are more authentic places to get more authentic Swedish meatballs in Sweden. But I really didn't mind it and enjoyed eating here. So the place is not big - really a handful of tables. So make a reservation (not sure if they take them) or come at an off-hour or come prepared to possibly wait. The menu takes a little navigating but our server was very helpful with explanations and suggestions. In the end, I opted for the traditional Swedish meatballs because when in Sweden... They came accompanied by a delightfully smooth and silky pomme puree (thank you very much) and a ligonberry jam, I ate just about every bite on my plate. The meatballs were good - great consistency, tasty, cooked well. The gravy was honestly the differentiator for me between these meatballs and other Swedish meatballs (of varying claims of authenticity) in the states. The gravy just had a bit more depth of flavor than the stuff in the US typically. But did I find these Swedish meatballs to be remarkably better than those I've had in the states? No, not really. Still I had Swedish meatballs in Sweden, and there is something to be said for that! My husband got one of the sampler platters because he wanted to try some of the more exotic game type of meatballs. Turns out this is not a great choice because the "chef's choice" turned out to be three really "normal" types of protein and only one game type of protein (reindeer I think). So if you go here wanting to try those kind of more crazy proteins, make sure you order them specifically or you probably won't get them. Or order the sampler platter that gives you some of everything and then you're guaranteed to get a taste. Place was fun and cozy, drinks were good, service was decent. Was it the most authentic meal we had? Nope, but we did really enjoy it.

Yelp
We ordered takeaway as we wanted to try out Swedish meatballs while in Stockholm and the wait was 30mins long (in the cold). We ordered the beef+pork meatball order combo, but they had a variety of meats including reindeer that we were not adventurous enough to try. Taste was overall delicious, especially chef's kiss paired with the pickled cucumbers + lingonberries. Favorite part is the little flag they put on top of the meatballs to signify what animal meat the meatballs constitute of. Docking 1 star for the price -- it was 6 meatballs for ~$23USD.

Yelp
We chose this place for lunch as they had meatballs made with different types of meat. We got the chef's choice as it was a sharable plate with 8 different types of meatballs. We were thinking that it would include the more interesting/unique ones, such as reindeer, moose etc. But the ones we got were just veal, cow, chicken, pork, boar, beef/pork, and lamb. Maybe it was a cost thing? My favorite ones were the boar, chicken and veal. The least preferred one was the pork.

Yelp
Decent meatballs Very cute place Decent prices for the city and tourism Meatballs are quite a bit salty and are not exactly the grade of "fame" this place is portrayed to be Friendly service esp for scandinavia hahaha Nevertheless i am peer pressured to give it 4 stars not 3 :)

Yelp
BEST meatballs I've ever had. My boyfriend and I split the "we love meatballs" (chef's choice of 4 types - 8 meatballs total with mashed potatoes, pickles, and lingonberries) and it was absolutely delicious. We ended up with the beef, pork, chicken and beef/deer mix and they were all amazing. The gravy that comes with it was divine and the employees were all friendly. If you only have time for one meal in Stockholm, GO HERE!

Yelp
When in Sweden- meatballs. On the wall, I noticed there was a map that informs you where their meat comes from. I wasn't too hungry, so we shared the "We Love Meatballs" between the two of us. It consisted of four different meatballs x2 with mashed potatoes, cream & veal gravy, preserved lingonberries, and pickled cucumbers. Of the four meatballs (beef, pork, deer, chicken), my favorite was probably the deer. But overall, I enjoyed the sides more than the meatballs. I washed it all down with some nice refreshing cider.

Yelp
When in Sweden, one must get meatballs. Meatballs-for the people is slightly out of the way from the main tourist attractions, yet still accessible by subway or bus. Don't worry about getting out of your way to try this restaurant, as there are many cute stores in this neighborhood as well as a supermarket. "We love meatballs"- Chef's choice of 4 different types of meatballs, 8 total. Basically an assortment of meatballs like a tasting menu. To be honest, the seasoning of these meatballs are very heavy. If you are used to Ikea meatballs, you will find these meatballs very salty. However, the signature meat profile (pork, chicken) still shines through the heavy seasoning. You will still be able to tell you are eating a pork-ball, or chicken-ball, which is quite surprising. I actually found the mashed potato the star of the dish. It is so creamy, smooth, and soft. Really helps balance out the heavy flavor from the meatballs. The pickles and lingonberries also help bring some tartness to the dense meal. Personally, the seasoning on the meatballs is just a bit much for me. Sometimes, it is not the food that makes memory but the journey and story behind it. I would still recommend trying out this restaurant for the experience and travel story!

Yelp
We visited Meatballs - For the People when we were in Stockholm visiting family. The meatballs that we had here far outclassed what we had at other restaurants in Stockholm and Gothenburg! The restaurant was just off a busier street, allowing for ease of access, but not crowding. It was about a 10 minute walk south of Stockholm's Gamla Stan (Old Town), and was also nearby a very scenic neighborhood that overlooks the canal and river. Upon entering, you're greeted with a bustling, but still intimate, bar setting, highlighting that meatballs really are for the people. We got to pick from a bunch of different kinds of meatballs, from classic beef/pork, to veal, to even moose meatballs (the national animal of Sweden). Don't worry; they also offered vegetarian options as well! I got the "we love meatballs" combo, which comes with a chef's choice of 4 different types of meatballs; that day I was able to feast on chicken, beef, beef/pork, and moose meatballs. My wife got the veal meatballs. Our meals were delicious; the gravy that MFTP uses was extremely rich, using veal as the base, and we could taste the difference. While being rich, the gravy wasn't heavy as to make you feel like you needed a nap immediately after! We got their homemade lingonberry juice, which was very good, and a cocktail that featured lingonberries as well. TLDR; I enjoyed our meal there; the server was attentive and friendly, the food was amazing, and the drinks were extremely good! Definitely stop by if you are visiting Stockholm!

Yelp
Just fine - perfectly adequate and enjoyable but nothing special. Definitely more of a tourist crowd, but still enjoyable food and decent service. Big crowd out front but moved quickly. My biggest complaint was how difficult it was to order some of the more unusual meatballs (bear, moose, etc) without ordering a WHOLE order of them as a single person. I ultimately opted for the chefs choice (2 x 4 varieties of balls, but varies from plate to plate); I wasn't ready to commit to all 8 of something I hadn't tried but was most interested in trying something I couldn't get in the US/would be more difficult ti find elsewhere. I ended up with chicken, pork, beef and reindeer...so 3 very basic and 1 on the edge. Ehh, it was a gamble, but with the knowledge that people most likely order that option to get a variety, they could give have "standard" and half of the more unusual. If you're goal is to try Swedish meatballs, there are plenty of classic (non-tourist) spots with this traditional dish on the menu; I'd personally only go back with a partner and do the option where you get one of each meatball.

Yelp
The food was amazing! The meatballs were the best I've ever had! The sad ice was great also! Everyone was so nice! Make sure to set up a reservation to ensure you get a table!

Yelp
This place is delicious! It's a bit of a treck from the main parts of Stockholm so you can take a ride or if you don't mind walking. My friends and I walked from Galma stan, about a 30min walk. Anywho back to the restaurant. There was a wait, we arrived on a Sunday evening around 6 and we had to wait about 40min for three people. We were able to wait outside on their outside tables which weren't being used since it was cold. Once we were called we sat at a shared table, this is fun because you get to meet people from around the world and see what else everyone is ordering! I ordered the swedish classic and a Coke zero. They have a good variety of drinks and beer here for whatever mood you're in. I do appreciate they have different types of meat for the meatballs, always nice to have a variety. My dish was delicious! I wish I could add on more meatballs, if they offered this at an additional charge of course, it would be great. I could inhale like 10 meatballs lol. I recommend this place, everything is delicious! Great astmosphere as well.

Yelp
We arrived on a Saturday at 430pm without a reservation and were told they had no availability. But we flippantly told we could sit at the bar. The bar is not a bar where customers actually sit, it's more a staging area for the staff so we were the ones ones sitting there. We weren't acknowledged by any waiter or the bartender so finally I was able to get the bartenders attention to order. It may be a cultural thing that you need to flag down waitstaff in Sweden, I'm really not sure. Or, maybe since tipping is not customary, they don't care to provide great customer service? -1 star The food was very nicely presented and tasty. I'm Swedish on my grandmothers side, and generally never expected much flavor from Swedish food. I decided to go with an uncommon protein as a way to spice it up. Moose with risotto and wild boar classic. Both were very tasty. Nice beer and wine selection and cute space with a few outdoor tables (in the summer atleast).

Yelp
Wonderful meatballs! Worth a stop! There is plenty of seating outside and inside, less seating outside though, so you might need to wait if you want to sit outside. We got the small ligonberry drink, which was huge, for 38 SEK and the "Sharing is Caring" which is 210 SEK per person. It includes four meatballs of each type and four types of meatballs: moose, veal, boar, beef+pork. (We asked the server what we should do to optimize for most meatballs and this way we got 8 each vs the entree is 6 each.) It also came with mashed potatoes, red wine sauce and gravy, ligonberry sauce, and pickled veggies. Honestly, I loved all the meatballs. My ranking though was: boar, beef+pork, veal, moose. My friend's ranking was: veal, boar, beef+pork, moose.

Yelp
My friends and I got the meatball feast. It was a great way to try different meatball flavors. Note that the chef chooses the flavor so it's a bit of a gamble. My favorites were the reindeer, the pork/beef, and beef. The sides were fantastic though.

Yelp
We landed in Stockholm for a day of touring around. At lunch, people suggested Meatballs for fairly authentic Swedish food. You can choose from three options: classic meatballs (meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingonberries and pickled cucumber); caesar (salad and meatballs); or asian (meatballs and rice). We opted for classic. For some reason it took 20 minutes for the food to arrive .... not sure why. Food was good. Good Swedish meatballs, smooth whipped potatoes, nice lingonberries. The recorded music was fantastic!! Any time I can hear Springsteen do Born to Run, followed by Hendrix All Along the Watchtower..... that's great music!
