Meda Gedara Villa

The villa is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. The staff are amazing. They cater to your every need. The area is great with places such as hiriketiya and dickwella providing great bars, beach clubs and restaurants. There is also temples, turtle beaches and sanctuaries and surf bays. This is great for the explorers. During my travels I took part in safaris and hikes in Yala and sinharaja. These are accessible from the villa and provide a great idea of the natural beauty found in Sri Lanka. Overall one of the best trips I’ve done and couldn’t recommend MG more. 6 glorious days at the Meda Gedara. What a fantastic villa, location and staff group! Having been lucky enough to have stayed in a number of high-end villas around the world in recent years with my family, I have to say that, for me, Meda Gedara is a cut above. The location is just great, on its own remote and gorgeous beach front setting, away from the masses. The villa itself is so thoughtfully conceived, both inside and out, with a clear understanding of what a villa of this stature should provide in terms of facilities, luxuries and decor generally. And the staff, the service and the food they provide is quite simply of the highest quality quality. We don't often return to holiday destinations but this villa is likely to be the exception!

Fabulous luxury villa, perfectly situated on the south coast but hidden away from the madness with its own private beach. The villa is gorgeous and homely - a simple open-design layout but with spaces for everyone inside and out, beautiful pools and even a water slide for entertainment. The staff are so lovely and the food simply amazing, either western dishes or incredible Sri Lankan curries. Perfect for a group of travelling friends or extended family to stay for many days of R&R.

Only one word - Sensational. Food was out of this world. Rooms luxurious and even more comfortable than the bed at home. Staff fabulous. Facilities wonderful ... have to mention the amazing water slide. Sitting on it's own "private beach" ... great for jumping in the sea and even better for dinners by candlelight. Truly stunning place ... and what a way to finish 2.5 weeks of racing around the most wonderful country in a TukTuk ... doesn't get better ... and obviously .... we will be back !!

5 stars doesn't even come close to doing justice to Meda Gedera and its team! The house itself, nestled on the Indian Ocean, is absolutely beautiful and incredibly well thought out. All the rooms are so comfortable and well furnished, from the bedrooms to the communal areas: nothing has escaped the owner's finely tuned attention to detail. The gardens and pool, where we spent a LOT of time, are simply stunning, with its own waterslide to keep the children (ok, and us!) busy for hours at a time. Walks along the unspoilt beach were interspersed with delicious home cooked meals, and the villa's location lends itself perfectly to trips to nearby Dickwella and Galle to see even more of this spectacular island. The team are obviously so happy to work there: nothing is too much trouble and the villa manager saw to it that no detail was missed or opportunity for an activity not researched: we took advantage of daily yoga, amazing football coaching for our children and a trip to an amazing lagoon, as well as the Udawalawe National Park (the elephants!!) You will not regret a trip to Media Gedera, and will forge memories for life!

Just the most fantastic villa situated in some of the most beautiful surroundings I've ever stayed in. The team at MG led by Chareth were so attentive and the food was utterly delicious. Really hope to come back one day - thanks so much - what a way to start January!

Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our stay was perfect was evident in every aspect.
