The 8 Best Hostels in Barcelona (Updated 2025)

"I found Mediterranean Youth Hostel to be a laid-back, budget-friendly option for younger travelers (dorms limited to those under 48): they host nightly Mediterranean-themed dinners and pub crawls, offer daily free walking tours, and have an outdoor courtyard, movie room, and a common area with video games. The dorms can be a bit cramped with no privacy curtains, but the beds themselves are comfortable." - Matthew Kepnes

I had a wonderful time at Mediterranean Youth Hostel - I thought it was very fairly priced and provided everything I needed: enough privacy, a hot shower, a clean, safe and friendly space in a very big city. Would absolutely recommend to anyone travelling to Barcelona. Free breakfast was always appreciated! ||Shoutout to Daniela from the hostel, who was super friendly and generous and took a few of us for a very fun evening out! Very much appreciated it - see you again some time!

Room was very clean, the hostel is very social and fun. Daniela the receptionist is very nice, she will take care of anything you need help with and has very helpful suggestions if you are new to the city. Overall it was an amazing experience with perfect customer service. Highly recommend if you travel solo or with friends

Its an amazing hostel, when you enter you get a warm welcome the staff that show you around. The rooms are clean and well organized. The location is ideal for people who like a mix of everything the city has the offer and the metro is very close. But the best part are the night activities, Daniela and Fernando are very nice people that will show you how to party the best in barcelona. They are very social and will dance harder than everyone, and will show you the best of Barcelona while they are always open for a chat. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely recommended! The bigest advantages: - Near metro line which is going straight to the old town and beach; - Peaceful and safe neighbourhood; - Female dorm option; - Door locking system is great- you need only app! - Free breakfast, well equipped kitchen; - Hosts are so friendly, plus they are holding people bonding parties; It was my first time travelling solo and staying at hostel, but this hostel made it great experience.

Good location and the staffs are great and friendly. However, the quality of facilities totally not worth the price. The shower water temperature kept fluctuating between hot and cold, and the charging outlet at my bed was blocked by the adjacent bed, so I couldn’t use it at all—I had to charge my phone in the common area instead. Aside from these issues, everything else was fine. I spoke to the reception about the water temperature problem, and it seems other guests have complained about it as well, but it still hasn’t been resolved.

The hostel was GREAT!!! I was here for 8 nights and it was 🔥🔥🔥 They also have an amazing cook making us paella and pasta. 2 minutes walk from the metro station too!!! I'll definitely come here again!!! And GREAT thanks to Daniela who allowed me to have such a wonderful experience!

Basic, functional youth hostel. Okay if you want to be out all day and just need a safe spot to crash for a night. Easy check in, check out. There’s bag storage facility after check out. Overall facilities and cleanliness was about average. There’s no lock on the little area to hold your personal stuff - you have to buy a padlock for € 7.50 from them! Towel rental for € 3.

Good location. It is 15 minutes by walking from Casa Batlló, Casa Mila, and Sagrada Familla. Nice staff. Every staff is welcoming and helpful. Rooms, the kitchen, and toilets are all clean. The neighborhood is safe and convenient. The only thing I would like to recommend is that, it would be nice if there are little cabinets on the wall next to the bed which people could put their stuff like smartphones, watches, or glasses. Overall, I like this place and was happy when I stayed there. : )
