Mediterranean Hostel Barcelona

I'm glad I stayed in Mediterranean hostel and I totally recommend it!! Friendly and helpful staff, super comfy rooms and beds (I stayed in the deluxe female dorm, most beautiful hostel dorm I've ever been), everything was very clean, big common areas, simple but good enough breakfast! 100% worth the money! Close to metro and bus station but also easy to walk everywhere. Quite enough if you want to rest but easy to socialize! I will definitely come back!

My stay at Mediterranean Hostel was amazing! The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly — I met great people. Everything was clean and well taken care of. A special thanks to Daniela, who was incredibly kind and always ready to give helpful tips and recommendations for the city. You can really feel that the team cares about their guests and puts heart into what they do. I will definitely come back — highly recommended for anyone visiting Barcelona! 🌞🇪🇸

I love this hostel. That’s why I came back from September to now. Daniela always helps me a lot to meet with other people, and we have amazing fun with everyone at the hostel or going out together at her pub crawl. Recomended

Great hostel and really enjoyable to stay in for a few nights. We arrived as a group of nine and had an eight bedroom dorm and one bed in another room. So when we decided to move the mattress over to the eight person room instead of just telling us off, the staff decided put the mattress back but ALSO put up an extra bed in our eight people dorm for the ninth person to sleep in! So besides the really nice location the service was amazing!

Reuploaded as my review got deleted! Probably the worst hostel I’ve stayed in, in 10 years of hostels in over 20 countries. So low value for the prices charged. Save your money, go anywhere else. 0.5/10. Pros– Decent distance from the centre. Safe area with amenities. Communal dinners. I met some lovely people. Cons– Rude and unfriendly staff. I really don’t know who they paid to write past reviews. Daniela has either left or is only nice to Spanish speakers. Others I met said the same. On arrival they tried to say my card had been declined, so I should be “grateful to them” that they hadn’t cancelled my booking without telling me, even though the deposit was already taken from my account. I paid the full amount on the spot with zero issues using the same card. Zero noise isolation in the rooms — you can hear everything from the hall and bathroom, including the loud music played all night. Rooms have no shelves or privacy curtain. Old mattresses. No wardrobe, so you have to live out of your suitcase or backpack. Beds are in front of the door, so when people come in, there is light everywhere. Three toilets for the whole hostel. Musty bathroom with showers needing repair (this seems to be a longstanding issue and nothing has been fixed). Weak Wi-Fi. Low voltage plugs. Sunday pasta was absolutely inedible, complete mush. The free breakfast is grey and crusty. The place needs a good clean.

I had a wonderful time at Mediterranean Youth Hostel - I thought it was very fairly priced and provided everything I needed: enough privacy, a hot shower, a clean, safe and friendly space in a very big city. Would absolutely recommend to anyone travelling to Barcelona. Free breakfast was always appreciated! ||Shoutout to Daniela from the hostel, who was super friendly and generous and took a few of us for a very fun evening out! Very much appreciated it - see you again some time!

Room was very clean, the hostel is very social and fun. Daniela the receptionist is very nice, she will take care of anything you need help with and has very helpful suggestions if you are new to the city. Overall it was an amazing experience with perfect customer service. Highly recommend if you travel solo or with friends

Basic, functional youth hostel. Okay if you want to be out all day and just need a safe spot to crash for a night. Easy check in, check out. There’s bag storage facility after check out. Overall facilities and cleanliness was about average. There’s no lock on the little area to hold your personal stuff - you have to buy a padlock for € 7.50 from them! Towel rental for € 3.

I stayed here for 4 nights after our original hostel canceled on us. The front desk staff were delightful and informative, the wristbands to open the doors were convenient, and if you are looking for an incredibly social environment with drinking and games every night, this might be the hostel for you. But the bathrooms were disgusting, the bed frames were loud and uncomfortable, lockers were inconvenient, and the website and Hostelworld page were untruthful about amenities and services. Firstly, throughout our stay, one of the 2nd floor men's showers would flood onto the bathroom floor and particularly into the only toilet stall in the bathroom. The shower floors were disgusting and the shower heads were encrusted in a green/blue material. The sink faucets were also gross. Also, the cleaning lady had the bathrooms closed off around 8am every morning, which is the time everyone starts waking to get ready and go out. The mattresses hurt my back. It's a hostel so I'm under no illusion that they were supposed to be as good as my mattress at home, but they shouldn't hurt my back either. The bed frames were of a cheap metal and make loud noises when you turn. The lockers were part of the lower bunk and opened downwardly so they were very inconvenient on top of being loud. On the note of sleeplessness, there was a recurrent, very loud and bizarre moaning sound that may be coming from the pipes. Lastly, both their website and their Hostelworld page state that the hostel offers air conditioning and ceiling fans in the rooms, laundry machines, and elevators but none were true. Technically there is A/C in the lobby and "chill room" but it doesn't reach the rooms. Yes, our room had a vent but it was as hot as if there were no A/C. The claims that there were ceiling fans, laundry machines, and elevators were simply not true and confirmed as such by the staff. As I said, the staff is nice and encourages social interaction and drinking (plus the place is quite inexpensive) so while this was more of a nightmare for me, I was clearly able to tolerate 4 days and this may be the hostel experience you always dreamed of depending on your priorities.

They have a great staff and an amazing walking tour! The room was gross though, mucus stained on the side of the top bunk, and super tiny room! I think it should be cheaper, but it's a great location with lovely staff! Wifi should not be advertised, because it sucks!!

This is probably one of the nicest hostels I have been too. First of all it is kind of on a random street not really surrounding anything, but the hostel is right next to the metro which is super convenient. I stayed in a dorm room with 10 beds and it surprisingly was pretty nice! The sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, and thank goodness for the air conditioner! This is a definite plus plus for being located in a hot city! There is also an outlet for each bed to charge phones and labtops, etc. The facilities are nice, restrooms are usually clean. The showers and restroom are located outside the rooms, my only flaw is the one toilet in the shower/restroom. They also provide shampoo, conditioner and soap! This is a first for me out of the 8 hostels I have stayed at. There is wifi almost everywhere, except it's a little slow in the dorm rooms or at least in the 2 floor. Lastly there is a ton of storage for your stuff, and a kitchen for you to utilize.

A hostel is supposed to be for travellers who want a place to sleep and store their luggage and food. But it is nice when it's nice, and it's disappointing when it disappoints you. I give most hostels the benefit of the doubt, but our first impressions from the staff member on duty when we checked in, and the fact someone nicked our salami from the hostel fridge (marked and tied up in a plastic bag) kind of lost this place some points on my scoreboard. Apart from that though it is a decent place. The reception is nice and bright, although upstairs the decor is a bit more shoddy but do I really care? The showers were okay so long as you don't use the middle one - the pressure is taken from the side ones and you're left standing there with a drip! The sheets weren't that looked after, but you also get a blanket, and the lockers are 1 euro but the draws under the bunks you can lock with your own lock. The kitchen is small but the fridge is a decent size, and there's about 10 tables. The lounge has two couches and nothing else but it is still being refurbished. It's not that close to the main part of Barcelona - Las Ramblas - and it's probably equidistant from Las Ramblas to the couch station (where you will come from if flying cheap with Ryanair).

Great hostel great price. Staying here for such a good price. Staff is awesome and will hook it up. I usually hate hostels but this place is totally manageable. Wifi is blazing fast (im reading 50mbps right now). Great location in BCN. Definitely recommended.

I'm not huge into staying in hostels, but six week travels require budgeting. My significant other and I got a private room with a shared bathroom: clean, tidy, efficient. Shared kitchen, dining, computer, and recreation areas. Any resource you need to enjoy the city is at your fingertips. Now, the staff there is why I give it five stars. Leo is nothing short of spectacular! He took the time to walk us through the map of the city, explain the neighborhoods, give us advice, and recommend bar crawls and meal planning inside and outside the hostel. Monica, as well, bent over backwards to make us feel at home. I will definitely be staying here again.

This was honestly my favorite hostel I've stayed in so far during my travels throughout Europe. The workers are so nice and the rooms are spacious as well. There are plenty of showers and they even provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap in it. They have a computer room and a tv room where they provide movies and a storage room that we used because we came before our check in time. They have free pasta nights too and you can even go out with them at night! The rooms were so clean and I absolutely loved my stay here!

Staff was very friendly + gave great tips. free lockers were great, bathrooms and linens were clean. metro was around the corner and taxi's were cheap after late night out there are personal outlets next to each bed - unfortunately mine didn't work but there were outlets all around the hostel. overall, this hostel is solid. the vibe was really great and the other guests were all super cool- great experience! i do recommend
