The Essential Guide to Naples, Florida

"Taking cues from its coastal setting in Naples, this restaurant serves an eclectic cuisine inspired by the coasts of Spain, Greece, Italy, and Morocco. Just off the main thoroughfare of 5th Avenue and steps from the perfect photo op at the historic Naples Pier, it’s where I go for a fresh seafood fix with a Mediterranean flair." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Such a lovely and refreshing way to end our week in Fort Myers with a warm welcoming atmosphere great food outstanding and attentive service! 5️⃣ We enjoyed the early bird 🐥special @ $49 each / 3 course meal totally worth it! We enjoyed a delicious shank and triple tail snapper with a lemon sauce both served with rosette, green beans ( I love the garlicky herbs)! And a nice slice of key lime pie. All enjoyed on the outdoor patio! We definitely will return and highly recommend this Mediterrano! 💖 💯

We had an incredible time at Mediterrano with their multi-course meal! Every dish was bursting with fresh Mediterranean flavors, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The vibe was cozy yet elegant, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. We’re already excited to come back for more!

Everything in this restaurant is Amazing. The food is so delicious, the service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is outstanding. This is one of our favorite restaurant in Naples.

We had a decent dinner at Mediterrano. We absolutely loved the design of the restaurant, all the flowers and the overall ambiance. It is truly a beautiful restaurant that makes you feel like you are dining in Santorini. To start, we had the Greek salad, watermelon strawberry salad and octopus - all were well prepared and tasty. For main course, my wife had the lamb meatballs, which were great. However, my daughter and I ordered the branzino (which was like $50 per order) and which was terrible and very dry. When the dishes first came out, my branzino was bone dry and completely inedible. I had to send it back to be redone, which I almost never do ... but it was just that terribly prepared. The second time, it was better, but still pretty dry and without any flavor. Neither me nor my daughter finished the branzino, as it just wasn't good at all, even after being redone. Service was good and attentive. When I asked to have my branzino redone, our server was very nice about it and apologetic. So a bit of a disappointing experience with the main courses, especially for the price. Appetizers were good, but not incredible and certainly did not make up for the awful branzino. While I don't think we will be rushing back to Mediterrano, the place is really gorgeous, so I suspect we will come back eventually for the ambiance and be more careful and selective with what we order.

From the moment we walked up until the time we left was a perfect experience. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The service was impeccable and the food was incredible! Best Branzino ive had in a long time!

Wife and I stopped in Naples for an evening anniversary dinner at Mediterrano. We decided to eat outside which in hindsight may have not been the best of choices due to the unwelcomed flies that decided to help themselves to my meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful and met by very attentive service. The octopus appetizer is a must, butter tender. I had the seafood paella and my wife the Salmon which was slightly on the dry side but both extremely flavorful. Portions are generous. They were kind enough to present us with an anniversary display of Key lime pie. Nice touch! I would definitely recommend Mediterrano along with a nice walk along 5th Ave after a delicious meal. Plenty of shops in old downtown Naples.

Google
I am gluten-free, and this restaurant came highly recommended by friends who are not. But so many items on the menu were marked gluten free and they provide gluten free bread if you ask! The bread was crunchy and delicious. I got the shrimp and risotto, and my husband got the fish (Triple Tail) special. Seriously, amazing. We couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner for our anniversary. Sat outside on a beautiful evening in Naples. Amazing host and server. Ordered the saganaki, roasted beet salad, and the veggie paella. Each came out in order and wish I had taken pictures before eating. Beet salad was nice and light while the veggie paella was topped with an abundance of veggies (carrots, artichoke, olives, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions) so good and rich in flavor. The server was also nice enough to bring out a chocolate cake for our anniversary which may have been the best dessert we had! Sorry key lime!

Yelp
Mediterrano is one of those places where you sit down, glance at the menu, and immediately feel like you have made an excellent life decision. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed, the service is warm, and the food mostly delivered on that promise. Let's start with the winners because there were several. The Salmon Paella was fantastic. It was rich, flavorful, and packed with enough seafood energy to make Poseidon proud. Our appetizer, dessert, and drinks all came out tasting like the kitchen had a personal vendetta against mediocrity. We were vibing. It was a great start to the night. Then came the one plot twist. I ordered the Beef Tenderloin Kebab medium. What arrived was doing its best impression of a medical diagram of the circulatory system. Very rare. We sent it back, and the staff handled it with absolute grace. They apologized, reassured us, and brought a second one. Unfortunately, that one also came out very rare, even after the server confirmed medium was the goal. At that point I felt like I needed to stop before we started a trilogy of undercooked kebabs. I told them it was fine, they were incredibly apologetic, and they comped the dish without even requesting. The service truly was outstanding. They did everything right on the hospitality side, even if the kitchen and that kebab had creative differences about what "medium" means. I am genuinely torn because everything else we tried was excellent, and the overall experience was positive. The one dish that missed did impact the meal, but the way the team handled it showed professionalism and real care for their guests. I would absolutely give Mediterrano another chance because the highs were very high, and the service team could not have been better.

Yelp
Great food and service with a nice atmosphere. The food is always great. I had the Paella Valenciana and my wife had the chicken Francese. Both were excellent. I was pleasantly subtly the amount of seafood in this dish. The flavor of the rice was outstanding. The house made baklava was delicious. The house wines that we got were very good too.

Vera F.

Yelp
Ambiance is so nice. Very cute decor. Service was outstanding. Food was very good. Will definitely be back and recommend it.

Yelp
What an absolutely charming restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and seated by a wonderful host--kind, accommodating, and professional. While the restaurant doesn't typically allow pets, he made an exception for our ESA, which we deeply appreciated. We sat outside on the beautiful patio, surrounded by hanging plants that added a lush, relaxing atmosphere. I wish I had gotten the name of our server--he was fantastic: attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and incredibly polite gentleman. We came for an early dinner and were offered a special prix fixe menu: $49 per person for a starter, entrée, and dessert. The value was excellent, and the experience even better. The meal began with warm pita bread served with olive oil, balsamic glaze, and pesto butter--a delightful start that signaled we were in for something special. The white sangria was light and refreshing. For appetizers, we all had the lamb meatballs nestled in creamy tzatziki sauce--absolutely delicious. For entrées, we each chose something different so we could share tastes: beef kebab with saffron rice, branzino on Parmesan risotto, and the standout of the evening--the lamb shank with mushroom risotto. Every bite was incredible, but the lamb shank truly stole the show. We ended with desserts that were the perfect finish: chocolate gelato, pistachio gelato, and a slice of baklava--all decadent and satisfying. The only negative note was a brief, awkward moment when the only female server appeared to question the host's decision to allow our ESA. Our dog, by the way, is just 14 pounds and spent the entire evening quietly under the table without a peep. That aside, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed some of the best Mediterranean food we've had in a while. My family and I would absolutely return!

Yelp
A wonderful place both inside and out for dining. The location is somewhat on the edge of where busy starts so that is good too. For a last minute reservation in the middle of the week they did a great job fully accommodating a large party. The appetizers we did family style and tried quite a few. I am sure I am not remembering all the ones chosen but they did include: HUMMUS - Creamy paste of chick peas, fresh lemon, roasted garlic, olive oil, and tahini. grilled pita wedges with assorted vegetable, FLAMING CHEESE SAGANAKI - Black skillet roasted greek cheese with lemons, fresh ground black pepper flamed with ouzo, "GREEK SALAD" - Cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, red onion, greek feta, peperoncini, lemon-herb-olive oil dressing. For my personal main course I had the Atlantic tripletail fish special, and it was amazing. Literally the only problem we had was too much food, so I think we all took something home.

Nando F.

Yelp
Everything we had at this place was fantastic. That lamb shank was fabulous! All the seafood in the Paella (and not in the Paella) was very good! Thank you, thank you, thank you for not overcooking the shrimp! Nothing worse than eating "dehydrated shrimp" (when it's not supposed to be). The sauce in the muscles was exquisite! How tender was that octopus?! My only criticism about the food was that their Paella Española was a bit moist (not that I minded) when it's supposed to be dry. Our server was the absolute best! My man did not at any moment not have a smile on his face. A sweetheart of a guy. The place has an upscale aura. It DOES sit in the sort of a neighborhood. My only complain is.... why would the WHOLE place NOT be air conditioned?! Jesus! It was SO hot and humid... and in spite of the heat... I still loved the meal... so, what's that say about their food and service? wink*
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
I had celebrated one of my birthday dinners here several years ago, and was back in the neighborhood by myself. The staff was extremely helpful in asking me what I was looking for and making recommendations from the menu. I ended up having an amazing seafood stew and glass of Duck Pond Oregon Pinot Noir. They have many gluten-free options available, and I had probably the best gluten-free bread I have ever had anywhere fresh-baked with a touch of rosemary and olive oil. It got a bit loud, but the interior was nicely decorated. Highly recommended!

Mireya A.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. We went for dinner. the lamb balls are excellent, great appetizer. I had the meat paella, the portion was very large, and everything was cooked to perfection. Wonderful service. the key lime is the best I have ever had. all the plants and the ambience is wonderful, peaceful, and relaxing. They serve beer and wine only. But the beer was very nice, and so was the wine.

Yelp
The vibe was so inviting (& the weather was perfect, which helped!), the food was delicious, and all around it was just a quality visit. My dinner party of four loved everything ordered: shrimp & risotto, lamb keftedes, roasted beet & arugula salad, fish of the day -- Mediterranean style, one other dish I can't remember (oops!), and then the pistachio, vanilla, and chocolate gelatos for dessert. Our server was also very helpful, quick, & even remembered serving my colleague from a year prior as soon as she saw her face! Would love to share another meal here the next time I'm in Naples. As it were, I ordered a cappuccino & a slice of key lime pie to go!

Yelp
Me and my hubby went for our anniversary. First time trying it and Joel, our server was amazing. Tried delicous wine and the white peach sangria, the lobster bisque was so good! On top of the watermelon fig salad. Oh so yummy! The restaurant was beautiful with all the cute flowers and the ambiance was great. Wish our table was a little bigger but it worked out just fine. Will definitely be back and bring the family!
google avatar

Yelp
Good Food, Good service in a Beautiful venue just off 3rd. My salmon dish was different from the norm, but so delicious & good sides. My husband had a seafood pasta dish that was really good as well. He had a Caesar salad & I had the Beet salad both very good. Next time maybe split the salad as they were large. I brought part of my salad home & my husband brought part of his seafood pasta dish home. Yummy leftovers! We will go again!
google avatar

Marjorie F.

Yelp
When vacationing in a coastal town, I always seek out the freshest, tastiest seafood. Mediterrano did not disappoint. The lobster bisque is the best I have ever had. The generous portion of lobster was impressive. I don't think I have had that much lobster in a bisque EVER.The soup itself was pure creamy goodness and not too salty. Even though I had soup to start, I could not resist ordering the Cioppino, an Italian Coastal Fish Stew. It was FULL of fish, mussels, shrimp, clams, roasted tomatoes, and Mediterranean spices. Toasted garlic bread was served on the side, very nice for dipping in the stew. Depending on your appetite, it might be best to share. Of course, I would have none of that!!! The key lime pie made for a grand finale. Needless to say, I was more than satiated. The service was on pointe - friendly, professional, and helpful! My group enjoyed the atmosphere - the decor, plants, and the crowd. Busy nights make it feel a little crowded, but all the better to chat with your neighbors and see what they ordered! I will definitely be back when we return to Naples. In the meantime, I will be dreaming of that lobster bisque!

Terry T.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times and have never been wowed. Nothing bad to say but nothing notable either. I know when I can't remember what I had at a restaurant that it didn't impress me. Sorry, it's not a bad thing just so far nothing I'd go out of my way for. It's our friends favorite place when they're here so we go with them.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Great service and food. Early bird 3 course well worth the money. Lamb meatballs, paella and lamb shank off the charts.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
Service was good and attentive. My dinner though was disappointing. I asked for Branzino cooked in the fish of the day style, MARINATED EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL AND FRESH HERBS, GRILLED, ROASTED TOMATOES, CAPERS, KALAMATA OLIVES, SUNDRIED TOMATOES, LEMON, & VEGETABLES. I also asked to sub in Couscous for the Risotto. I got few, if any, of the above garnishes. I got some kind of woody, partially peeled, artichoke hearts and a weird sort of butter sauce on the side. There were no grill marks on the fish which was overcooked like it was left under the heat lamp on the pass. Lastely the fish seemed past its prime. The kitchen needs to be more supervised.
google avatar

Leah M.

Yelp
Excellent service! The restaurant is open-air just like the restaurants in Greece, and very lovely in the spring time because you feel the breeze. The roasted beet salad was delicious. The lobster bisque was just okay, it had small bits of shredded lobster and we would have preferred nice big chunks to give the soup some texture. The lamb shank was enjoyable but was a bit too fatty for my liking. The shrimp risotto was very good.
google avatar

Dan F.

Yelp
Lovely food and service. Everybody loved their meals. Absolutely will return. We sat inside and it was lovely if a bit loud - but I find all restaurants with high ceiling to be loud.
google avatar

Devyn K.

Yelp
This was our first time here. We loved it and can't wait to go back! We started with the SHRIMP SAGANAKI. Amazing! Then we had a special triple tail with mushroom risotto and the seafood paella. Both were excellent. Our server was excellent. The bathroom was clean and beautiful. Can't say enough good things about this place!
google avatar

Dakota D.

Yelp
The ambience was beautiful. The food was incredible. And the vibes were everything Highly recommended you get the seafood or meat paella and share with your party. It's what they are best known for. I personally got the seafood pasta which was rich and generously full with loads of olives and shrimp, mussels, calamari, and fish. I give this a 10/10 My friends actually let try some of their seafood paella and it was insanely good. So much seafood The service was also amazing and the staff was very attentive especially as a huge party
google avatar

The Breakfast Diner X.

Yelp
I liked it. No crowded on a Friday night in February which is a plus. Good service. Okay food.
google avatar

Christopher D.

Yelp
What is better than a cool night in downtown Naples than a meal at Medditerrano? Reservation is strongly suggested and it is a bit cramped. Food was fresh and tasty. Waitstaff was top notch and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a trip
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
It was not very hot/humid, so the four of us ate out on the patio. We caught the Early Dining Menu just by luck (order 5 pm to 5:45 pm Sunday - Thursday) The presentation of everything ordered was not only beautiful but delicious. The Beet Salad as well as the Cheese Saganaki were very good, with the cheese almost being addictive. The Stuffed Grape leaves were also very good. The Paella Valenciana for 1 was enough for 3 ! The 2 orders of Branzino were cooked perfectly. All the drinks from Sangria to wine to beer were very good We shared a Chocolate Gelato for dessert. There was enough left over from our entrees that we had a smorgasbord lunch the next day. Would definitely return to try other items - and will make it a point to order before 5:45.

Isaac T.

Yelp
The filet minion was in a class of its own! The ciopino was out of this world. The key lime pie was the best. The service was impeccable. The place is so beautifully decorated with plants.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Meh.. simply not great food. Service was attentive and place is beautiful but we were all underwhelmed by our entrees. The triple tale fish of the day was overdone and lukewarm, the chicken entree was bland and poorly seasoned. We are from out of town but eat out often and know Mediterranean cuisine very well since my wife is Greek. This restaurant tries to be Greek, Spanish, Turkish, and Italian and they don't succeed at any. Table of 4 sad AND out the door.

Jessica G.

Yelp
From the moment we were seated, Joel made our dining experience unforgettable. His warm smile, genuine enthusiasm, and professional demeanor instantly set the tone for an amazing evening. He was attentive without being overbearing & was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The entire team at this restaurant had impeccable timing throughout the night & endured we were taken care of & having a great time. Can't wait to go back & eat more delicious food! :)
google avatar

William C.

Yelp
No liquor license (beer and wine only) and not communicated on website or menu. Good seafood but limited meat options. Ordered kabobs med rare but got served well done. Tried to eat my way through it but the last couple were crusty and burnt. Very disappointing for a $48 entree. If you want seafood...go ahead and eat here but if anyone in your party wants meat go anywhere else.
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
This establishment serves absolutely delicious food in a cozy environment. Hanging plants and flowers dangle from the ceiling above candle lit tables. All of the food is incredible- to the point where I said "wow" out loud at least 3 times. I can't recommend this place enough- it's absolutely worth the price tag.
google avatar

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Great food, great service and icy cold wine. The strawberry, fig salad is always amazing as is the chicken francese.Everyone enjoyed their meal.
google avatar

Nick L.

Yelp
We went there last night and we were all very disappointed with our meals. The prices were even too high for Naples standards. I truly believe that the positive reviews on this place have to be fake.

Casey C.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was excellent. We loved the hummus and tzatziki to start. We also LOVED the tenderloin kebab and the vegetarian paella, which was packed with fresh vegetables. The service was fantastic all around. Sandra was super kind and friendly!
google avatar

Julia T.

Yelp
Food was really good. The olives were good but if you're not a fan of olives or salt, don't get it. It is a bit salty in flavor. The gelato was delicious. The salmon dish was delicious. Not pictured was the seafood pasta with clams and shrimp. Very good as well. Very small restaurant. Staff was friendly. Great service. Only one bathroom per gender (male and female).

R H.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 6:15 P.M. to eat inside and received an online acknowledgment. When I arrived, I was told they seat on a first come-first served basis. I think this is wrong and that they did not disclose this when I made my reservation. I left and went to a nearby restaurant. Their reservation system is deceptive.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Small menu. Cute place but nothing like the Mediterranean. Service was good, quick and polite. Not to many options on the menu, I was expecting a delicious octopus, more seafood something you order when you are in the Mediterranean, put was disappointed. I only order one dish: the lamb shank and it was ok. Not coming back.
google avatar

Pamela K.

Yelp
What can I say, the food, the service, the ambience were all amazing and absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! There were 10 of us for my mother's 88th birthday and we literally got nothing but the best service and not once were we rushed. I will make sure I go here every time I visit my mother and siblings in Naples! Absolutely well worth the prices
google avatar

RJ L.

Yelp
the food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. it is a little expensive overall but it's on par for naples. we had a reservation which they could not seat us early for however they got us in right on time. we were greeted with warm bread and dipping sauces along with water while the waiter got our drinks. we started with the octupus and flaming cheese both were good enough to get again especially the octupus. my main meal was the fish of the day mediterranean style and was excellent. the flavors were wonderful. i opted for veggies instead of the potatoes and they were able to accommodate without an issue. 4/5 flaming cheese saganaki black skillet roasted greek cheese with lemons, fresh ground black pepper flamed with ouzo $16 5/5 pulpo a la gallega - spanish octopus braised then grilled spanish octopus, tomatoes, roasted garlic, caper berries & olives $26 5/5 fish of the day - mediterranean style marinated extra virgin olive oil and fresh herbs, grilled, roasted tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, lemon, parmesan risotto & vegetables. $43

Garin S.

Yelp
Beautiful space, and patio. Service was top notch. Had the Tzatziki appetizer and it was fantastic. Me and my date had the Carne Paella for 2 and it was ok....honestly lacked seasoning on most of the dish. Sausage was great everything else needed salt. The other couple order the Salmon and cous cous (portion was nice and looked like it was cooked perfectly) he did say the cous cous was excellent. His date got the shrimp and risotto and loved it, lots of shrimp. Good wine list, seems a little high priced for quality of wine. Good experience but I will be try others before I come back, nothing blew me away
google avatar

Brynn F.

Yelp
We had Vegetarian Paella, and beef kabob. I always forget this detail. :) Catering to both meat eaters and vegetarians is hard. This is my second time at this establishment and from the moment we walked in the door (no reservation) they were completely accommodating. Pretty good wine and beer selection. Service was excellent and the food was good. I only say good because my palate is a little different but for Naples it is excellent.

Timothy R.

Yelp
Delicious food in a welcoming, fun environment. We ordered the fish of the day and the veggie paella. Fanatic!
google avatar

Anthony E.

Yelp
Great food with amazing service. My wife and I came to Mediterrano for her birthday. We ordered the flaming cheese for an app and for our entree seafood paella and the salmon. The dishes were flavorful and decently portioned. Boris was our server and was outstanding. I put in the reservation notes it was my wife's birthday. I didn't say anything throughout the dinner and he went out of his way to set up a special dessert. He was attentive, kind, and nothing short of an absolute pleasure. Great dinner overall. Would recommend and come back. Thank you Boris!!

Harold

Yelp
If you like Mediterranean food, this is an exceptional stop. Be prepared to spend a fair amount. It is a bit pricey.
google avatar

Judy M.

Yelp
Get your reservation now as you will need it! Early dinner Saturday during season that was outstanding! Huge portions after salad (we split the excellent fig, strawberry & watermelon) & appetizers that were epic! Very expensive but it's Naples and their open dining room is beautiful . My friends loved their homemade lemonade which is very sour but they served w all types of sweetener on the side. Have my friend's paella leftover which I am looking forward to trying. Pix below

Yelp
For non Floridians and not accustomed to the temps and humidity please note it is an open air restaurant. At first was a little concerned it might be to warm but there were fans in the ceiling to help move the air and it was pleasant. They also have 'shades' that they open and lower to help with air and temp and rain. Let's talk about the food. OMG fabulous! Family member who is vegetarian and had options to choose from. Started with the complementary pita bread olive oil, balsamic, and pesto butter. Wr order the hummus which was nice and not over powered by lemon. Family member has the vegetarian paella which had a slight bite but nothing to spicy. Wonderful flavor and the rainbow of color. I had the Braised Lamb - Ofto Kleftico. The lamb was fork tender and the green beans were just perfect not to crunchy or to limp. The spices were perfectly warming and favorable. It was family member's birthday and they brought out a key lime dessert that was light and fluffy. Make sure to save room for dessert. Table next to us had crème brûlée and a chocolate dessert that they was was wonderful. Next time we are in Naples we are coming back.

Tammy P.

Yelp
The atmosphere is so beautiful with all the flowers hanging. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. A great place to dine.
google avatar

Nora S.

Yelp
Beautiful vibes, delicious food, & excellent service The waiter was the absolute best. He gave us great recs on the menu. We were happy with everything we ordered. You must try the Flaming cheese saganaki as an appetizer. Loved the Greek cheese For entrees the Paella Valenciana is a great option - it has seafood & chicken & luckily you can ask them to remove the pork We loved itt! The other entree we got was the fish of the day & it was fresh, flavorful, & light. Overall was a lovely dinner and the service was outstanding

J P.

Yelp
Wife and I wanted to visit this place when we were in town in winter but didn't want to have our four freeloading kids with us. So we visited on a trip with just the two of us. Maybe our expectations were too high based on ratings. The octopus appetizer was very good. The fish special - triple tail - was awesome. Personal preference was wishing it had more sauce but still excellent. But the real reason we came was paella. We had high expectations and wound up very let down. All of the seafood was overdone. Some of the octopus tentacles in the paella were so over cooked you couldn't chew them. We were VERY disappointed in the paella. Service and other dishes were very good. Prices are quite high. Especially on the wine. Some bottles are 4x markup from local retailers. We can stomach 2.5x. But $100 for a bottle that we saw earlier in the day for $27 is hard to handle.

Natalie W.

Yelp
Food excellent, generous portions! Good service from all the staff! Ambiance perfect setting any seat is a good seat. Attention is needed in the restrooms - off season perfect time to spruce them up very very worn down and lacking supplies.
google avatar

C K.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in Naples. I do have to admit I order the Branzino every time. Our guests have ordered everything from the Paella to the Tangine and have always asked to return when in town.

Yelp
AMAZING PAELLA! A must try!!! I came here once a year ago and loved the paella and had to get it again!! I tried the vegetable paella this time and it was absolutely delicious, with so many colorful flavors. Highly recommend! We came for the early bird dinner special which also included an app and choice of dessert! Staff is also so nice.
