Medplaya Hotel Rio Park

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Clean, well equipped rooms. English TV. Great location, just far enough away from the noise and the madness. But..!|Two big let downs. |Heat the pool. It's not rocket science. That great location means, you are nearly a kilometre from the beach. |And, the food. ...|Some of it is nice, but, Please try and be different to all the other hotels and lay on a proper spread? If you are going to try and English breakfast, then do it right.| Same with the evening meal. The British have been perfecting Curry's and chilli con carne for decades. Get a chef in to do things right, please. |I'm afraid, you can say these things about most hotels. Not many listen. |Such a shame!!!

Three of us ( adults) booked a package holiday through easyjet. We chose this hotel, because one of our party had previously stayed here with her husband and the room they had was big, it had a separate area with an extra bed. ||Upon arrival we were allocated a very small room with two single beds and a flip down bed at the base of the other beds. It was a room you'd expect if you were given a free child space, not for three full paying adults. We felt we would be tripping over the person in that bed during the night. And no space for us three women to put our clothes or get ready. ||We decided to ask if they had any bigger rooms. We were surprised to find they actually had about half a dozen vacant rooms which were bigger. But they made us pay an extra €120 for 4 nights for one of them. We felt we should of been given this room in the first place really, and certainly not charged extra. ||The room we paid extra for was really nice, and had plenty space. The hotel was very clean, breakfast was good with plenty choice. Loads of sunbeds around the pool. And not a bad location to the centre. ||The receptionist who checked us in, was not very friendly. But the other staff we encountered were. ||Probably wouldn't return as felt we weren't treated very well with the room size, we should of been issued with the bigger room initially especially as there were several available.

It was Absolutely faultless hotel for myself and partner! For our first time. The room was clean, hotel modern, up to date all fresh. beds was really comfortable, it was fresh and cleaned every morning, the fridge was a bonus - thank you, we needed it!! we had a kettle, cups, coffee, tea, and biscuits - thank you!, bathroom, shower was perfect, clean and working, also the hairdryer we had all facilities working and no complaints at all!! Fresh towels, It was our first time staying here and in benidorm and I am so glad I picked the Rio Park to stay, staff so friendly and helpful, I just couldn't fault anything, breakfast was just your standard thing lots to pick from, bonus they had all dietary requirements covered nongluten ect, we didn't have evening meal so I can't comment on that, the hotel is fresh looking, very relaxed atmosphere, it was quite, and entertainment in the night - again we didn't see that, the pool is cleaned and you can tell it's well maintained, there is a kids pool, we seen guys cleaning the kids pool every morning/evening. so it's a cheap and cheerful, Bad point is the location for us.. Location is not far from the beach, the market and the strip but it's hard to find without Google maps ha 😁 but I think it was just us, we was drunk and could never find our way back 🤦‍♀️ it was hard to get used to 🙈 but if your want peace and relaxation, clean and happy place not to busy either this hotel Is for you. Our third trip to Rio Park and sadly will be our last. Hotel’s standards have deteriorated in the 18 months since our last visit. Room in need of maintenance, sockets hanging out of wall. Food cold, unappetising and largely inedible, limited choices and drinks expensive. Breakfast by far the best meal. Evening entertainment was average at best. Notice in room that there was a €5 charge for replacement towels - I’m all for protecting the environment but let’s not pretend that this is about anything other than making money. Staff however were friendly and helpful. ||Unfortunately we were unwell with a horrible sickness bug whilst we were there, can’t say how we got it but we were not the only guests affected. Like a previous poster, we too witnessed the vomit in the dining room incident! ||Unfortunately due to all the above, I can’t recommend this hotel.

in a great location as it’s away from the hustle and bustle but still has a fair few bars in walkable distance. reception and public areas are all nice and bright and everywhere clearly marked (directions to the pool etc) Room was reasonably clean on arrival but just very dated. fridge took ages to get cold (and the dial was going all over the place except for where you want it!) and goes off if you take the card out of the electric to go out. No toilet brush which is quite unhygienic. stainless steel plugs in the bathroom sinks have seen better days and made me feel a bit uneasy when brushing my teeth!! pool didn’t open until 11am which is very late for early risers like myself. sunbeds are old and tired, sagging in the middle etc and don’t have adjustable backs on them so you’re lay pretty much flat which is awkward for reading etc. and the pool area was quite noisy most days. Breakfast was fairly good but no variety so was the same things on the buffet every day. sausages weren’t bad , bacon is smoked local bacon, tinned tomates, baked beans, hash browns, mushrooms and an egg station. Overall we had an enjoyable stay but i think we will choose a different hotel that’s more suited to quiet adults around our age bracket (50’s) next time we go to benidorm.

We went October 7th for a week. When we first got to room had a problem with safe. Went to reception and explained our problem, staff very pleasant and I'd just got back to room and man came and sorted out problem. We then discovered we couldn't lock balcony door, again went to reception and told of problem. Only a matter of minutes before maintenance man came and fixed it. After that no problems food excellent plenty of choice, entertainment was great, cleanliness ideal. Staff really nice Loved our stay. Well worth a visit Thank you

I would not recommend. We got into our room and it reeked of cigarette smoke, it was dirty, boogers on the walls, hair in the bathroom, heavily stained armchair and sweet wrappers on the floor. We went down to reception and requested for it to be cleaned, all the did was spray fabreeze so we went back down and asked for a room change which we had to wait till the next day at 12 to change rooms. Which was quite disappointing as we expressed that I am an asthmatic and the smell triggered it. The new room wasn't much cleaner sadly, for example it had old toothpaste on the floor. We asked for it to be cleaned and once we came back, it was the same. During the two weeks they never changed the sheets, we had to ask them to do that. They also didn't hoover, the dirt was building up as we went to the beach and the sand got tracked in. The food was ok. Barely seasoned, pretty mediocre. The entertainment was boring. Singing most nights, which got old quickly. Another issue was the elevators, they were extremely slow, and took forever to get to your floor, or just never came. Anyone I spoke to who was staying there was complaining about it too. Overall I don't recommend unless you want to stay in a dirty room that they refuse to clean properly!

Myself and my partner hadn't been to Benidorm more than 15 years ago. And decided to go, mainly for reminiscing purposes. In the last 2 places we stopped were quite basic, so we thought we would go for something that looked a bit more special. He wanted to be near to Levante end, so we booked here as seemed to be with in reasonable walking distances to most places. We has B&B. It was reasonably good. Have most definitely had a lot worse. The 3 different ladies on Reception were great. Always happy and willing to help, and gave us some great information that we needed. There is only one issue, which if you read any of the reviews, a lot of them are about the lifts. And i would have to totally agree. It definitely is their downfall, and think they seriously need to look at it. They are very slow, and not big enough. We got a room on the 17th Floor. Unfortunately near to the lift. There is obviously a mechanical issue with it, and made a terrible noise every time some one used them. It was that bad we couldn't sleep. On the plus side, we got moved straight away, which i thought was great! I am sure they are looking into this problem. But think having more lifts for the amount of people is definitely needed. Entertainment was good also. And the late bar. On the day of checkout, was given a treat bag. It contained 2 apples, 2 bottles of water, and a big bag of crisps. So based on our stay, i would recommend it.
