Meeru Island Resort and Spa

Our experience at Meru Island was absolutely spectacular. We felt well taken care of at all times. Even though it was supposed to be the rainy season, we had great weather! The villa with a jacuzzi was amazing – it allowed us to enjoy everything at our own pace. Even though we didn’t speak the language, communication was never a problem. The staff always made an effort to understand us perfectly. The waiters were wonderful – especially one lovely waitress from India who was incredibly kind. She definitely earned her tip! Everything at the reception was smooth and well-managed. Overall, it was an experience we would love to repeat. The food was outstanding – truly one of the best chefs we’ve encountered. What a fantastic island Meeru is! The transfer from the airport to the island is perfectly arranged – it takes about 50 minutes by boat. A very warm welcome on the island, with personal check-in and an explanation of all the facilities. After checking in, we were taken to our villa by buggy. You can always call a buggy at any time to take you anywhere on the island. Accommodation We stayed in a Jacuzzi Water Villa. At first, we were assigned villa 309, but based on reviews from other guests I immediately requested a villa in the 700 zone because of the view and the fact that you have doors by the jacuzzi that can open up to the sea. The request was granted, and after one night in villa 309 we were moved to 713. By the way, villa 309 is also fantastic. Villa 712 offers a beautiful view, and the sunsets are magical. The accommodations are very clean, with excellent housekeeping. The minibar is restocked daily (free of charge for all-inclusive guests). Food & Drinks We stayed all-inclusive and were therefore able to enjoy, in addition to the buffet, the à la carte restaurants at no extra cost. We tried all the restaurants and I must say the food was fantastic. A wide variety and great quality. The buffets were also excellent. Drinks The drinks included in the all-inclusive package were more than good enough for us. A wide selection and consistent in quality (cocktails were always made the same way, with the same proportions). Staff A huge shout-out to the staff. From the cleaners to the reception team, from waiters to excursion guides – every single one of them is friendly and united by one goal: to make guests happy and give them a wonderful experience. Compliments to everyone! They always ask how you’re doing and if you’re enjoying yourself. Whether the food tastes good, how your day was, etc. Really excellent! Excursions A great range of excursions is available. We snorkeled with manta rays, visited the house reef, and joined the Sunset Punch Cruise (the last two are free for all-inclusive guests). Besides that, there are plenty of other activities for those who want them. During the excursions we saw so much: from mantas to turtles, dolphins, sharks, and a wide variety of fish. Meeru Island resort is definitely the best hotel we ever stayed in. It was our first time on Maldives and we experienced it as a little heaven. The resort is located at about 45-60 min on the speedboat from the Male international airport. The staff met us at the airport and we were welcomed with water. Then at the reception we had an amazing welcome from the staff, the check in was automatically made while we enjoyed their welcome cold tea, then on a buggy you can get directly to the bungalow, the suitcases were brought separately from the staff. The bungalow was very cozy decorate in a tropical atmosphere, very clean - they cleaned it twice daily. On the porch we could enjoy the ocean under the umbrella or you could move the other two sun beds into the sun. The water entrance was so calm and beautiful, the water very transparent and a lot of fish, even some small sharks could be seen, but they are not at all aggressive. It was interesting to enjoy the shower outside, there was also a jacuzzi, though we did not use it. On this island there is only one resort and we can really enjoy an intimate atmosphere. There are 2 big restaurants and 4 smaller ones a la carte available with reservation. But for the all inclusive packages everything was included, all restaurants - the food is very tasty and varied - each day different cuisine at the big restaurants, approximatively all drinks - including a selection of cocktails, juices, spirits, wines and also the drinks from the mini bar inside the bungalow which were daily added, also the package includes daily snorkeling to the local reef on a separate boat - you only have to rent the equipment if you do not have your own - but we went also directly in front of our beach - there were also a lot of smaller fishes and young corals, on another part of the beach we also could admire some manta rays. The staff is very friendly and professional and really trying to make your stay unforgettable. They organize the transfer according to your flight timing. On our departure we even had special breakfast at 5:30 in the morning. We also enjoyed the full moon special dinner on the beach with a very romantic atmosphere and wonderful view of the moon. Although we were off season in the second week of June - the weather was perfect - there were just some short tropical rains mostly during the night, in rest lot of sun and very pleasant light wind. All in all we definitely want to come back and we highly recommend this resort to anyone wishing to visit Maldives

We have visited Meeru twice. A magical place, unreal beauty. Beautiful views, tranquility, friendly staff, delicious food. Paradise on Earth.

Super friendly staff. The resort offers an amazing introduction to the beauty of the maldives. Sharks, Mantas, Colorful Fish, it’s all here. Beautiful beaches. Restaurants are very nice and have good food. Different buffet nights make it interesting. We stayed at the beach villas and water villas. Both rooms had comfortable and great views. Some natural juice and coconut not on the all inclusive which was disappointing, but other than that all good. Good value. The goodbye was not great, old boat back to airport and no trolleys, felt like we were getting kicked off the island. Room for improvement to become where they are projected to. A great nearby Island to Male.

Good food, beautiful beach, well maintained island. Great diving center. Service & transfer could be improved. My husband's shoes got lost on the boat.

In short, this hotel and resort combines superb staff, a perfect location, and world-class facilities to deliver a truly five-star experience. Highly recommended.
