I should have written this review a long time ago.
During one of my past business trips, a coworker of mine grabbed a business card of this place from one of those restaurant business card racks in the hotel lobby. Frankly, the name caught his attention. Some minds wander in the gutter - but I can tell you friends of brass pipework installation and related crafts will be disappointed.
However - those who are looking for a delicious meal will be delighted. I can say I tried the entire menu. It is all delicious. My personal favorite is to Start with the Salade de Gésieres de Canard (yup, you are guessing correctly. If that does not float your boat, or feel sorry for the Duck, try the ravioli salad or the salad with Roquefort), then the Pavé de Bœuf façon Rossini (Steak with Shallot Sauce and foie gras on top), and for dessert the Mousse de Caramel WITH ARMAGNAC. Yummy. Yummy. Yummy.
Yesterday I had the excellent Pavé de Bœuf with Maître d'Hôtel Butter. Highly recommended as well.
The ambiance of the place is, I would say, neat-casual. Small tables, somewhat dimly lit. Interesting selection of music.
The staff is always very friendly and sociable - they are also very attentive and make sure you have a good dining experience.
As with many restaurants in this area, it is highly recommended to make a reservation. Recently, we could not get in until 10 pm. Oh well. It was worth the wait. Good thing there is a pub 50 meters down the street.
"Meet the Meat" has truly become one of my Toulouse Landmarks. I have to stop myself from going there too frequently.
Edit: This restaurant truly deserves the four stars. Five stars is exceptional only. And they are close. Very.
In comparison, Restaurant l'Entrecôte across the street, may show more stars in here, but is, in my opinion, strongly overrated. I'll post a review on it when I can. If you're unsure where to go, go to MTM.
