If in Manaus as a tourist - don’t miss this out. You can go on a tour which had this activity. Take a small boat, will tell you why later. You would be mesmerized to see two rivers of different type, colour joining together in this place. Think you have just seen 3 colours - No, there is something else to it also. Put your hand in the water & let your boat sail through both the colours & you can actually feel the temperature difference between the two. ( A small boat allows you to put your hand in the water) Don’t miss to spot river dolphins here. Good place for pictures & videos with the meeting of waters in the background.

Wonderful natural phenomenon, where the dark color water from Negro River and the pale yellow water from Amazon river meet and flow side by side without mixing. The temperature of water is also differ. It's truly magical. There are several day tours from Manaus to visit it.

An absolutely mesmerizing natural phenomenon! The Meeting of the Waters near Manaus is a must-see when visiting the Amazon. Watching the dark waters of the Rio Negro flow alongside the sandy-colored Solimões without mixing for miles is surreal. The contrast is stunning, and learning about the scientific reasons — differences in temperature, speed, and density — makes it even more fascinating. We did a boat tour and got to experience the exact point where the two rivers meet — you can literally dip your hand and feel the difference in water temperatures! Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone intrigued by Earth's wonders.

A beautiful wonder of nature, definitely a must when you're in Manaus. If your travelling by bit to the Amazonas, you will most likely pass it and be able to enjoy it this way. Interestingly, the Amazon river is full of such places where one can the different look of two rivers, but this one is definitely the most distinctive and the biggest. The cheaper way to observe the meeting of waters is to buy a ferry boat ticket for 10BRL one-way from Porto de Seasa. The meeting is very well visible from the ferry and it's a great alternative to expensive private boats offered by locals.

Really really interesting to see that! It’s even better when the sun is shining.

To see this place, you need to go for one of the tours offering to stop by here. It's the biggest tourist attraction in the area and surely interesting to see, but it wasn't the biggest wow moment of my life. To give you some insight, the waters have different color because they carry different minerals that add to their color. And they don't mix because of different density. You are welcome.

Amazing to see! We stopped here to take pictures but actually we passed it 3 times during our 2 days tour around Manaus. Plus, our cruise ship passed by it also, so really no need for a specific tour to the Meeting of the Waters, you'll probably pass it on another tour!

Fantastic location to experience a quaint village built on stilts within the State of Amazonas, Brazil. Having walked an hour or so in the Amazon rainforest, one get only fell the lifestyle these persons live with. Highly recommend taking a small boat cruise on this body of water.

Yelp
The Eonctro das Águas should be on everyone's to-to list when visiting Manaus. It may not seem like much, but it's a pretty cool site to see the Rio Negro and Rio Solimões meet and not mix. You can clearly distinguish each river. Since this is one of the main highlights of the city, you won't have a problem finding tours that take you here. The tours will most likely include the encontro das águas, swimming with the botos (river dolphins), and visit an indigenous community. Lunch is also included. Some tours may have additional stops. Totally worth it.

Yelp
Should you be lucky enough to travel the Amazon by boat, as I have, viewing the Meeting of Waters (Encontro das Águas) is an absolute must. It's comprised of the confluence of the Rio Negro which is dark in color from the tannic acids of upstream decaying vegetation and the light brown muddy colored, rich in soil, Amazon River (Solimões River). As the waters differ in specific gravity, they don't mix for around 50 miles. It's amazing to see and something found nowhere else in the world. It's also one of the main tourist attractions of Manaus, Brazil.

Yelp
I'll be honest with you, I was not aware of Meeting of Waters until our tour around Manaus. My bf hired a tour guide to take us around before our afternoon flight, and this was my favorite moment. Our guide took us to a fish market for the boat portion of the trip. Once our boat approached the site, it was amazing to distinctively see both the Rio Negro and Amazon River. The waters never mix due to the differences in pH levels, temperature, and density. We were able to dip our hands in the water and it was awesome to feel the differences...the Rio Negro was warm while the Amazon felt refreshing and cool. Sadly, I was unable to get a business card from our guide...and I was impressed with the tour he gave us. I highly recommend hiring a private boat or tour guide to experience this site.
