This bespoke tailor is one of Singapore’s best-kept secrets - SilverKris

"A long-standing, family-run bespoke tailoring atelier located within the Pan Pacific Hotel, founded in the 1970s by Master Chung Chi Kwong, who began honing his craft at 17. The business survived early setbacks including a workshop fire and a move from Geylang to Kovan before becoming an anchor tenant at the hotel, where its clientele historically included many expats and business travellers. Known for exacting, traditional craftsmanship, each suit is individually cut and sewn with full-canvas interfacing for superior drape, and consultations can span hours to ensure fit, fabric choice, linings, lapels and personalised details (clients even request bespoke embroidery). During the Covid-19 downturn the atelier pivoted to production and community support—making and donating over 6,000 fabric masks—and leveraged that momentum to sustain orders; since 2018 the founder’s daughter has been modernising operations with digital marketing and 3D body-measurement technology to serve global clients. The atelier combines time-honoured tailoring techniques with new services and product lines (including womenswear and smart-casual menswear) while emphasising personalised service and meticulous hand-finishing." - Ink Creative Studios

Had an outstanding experience with Meiko Tailor at their Boat Quay outlet. From the moment I walked in, the service was warm, professional and attentive. Master Chung and Adele, both very patient, took time to understand my preferences, guided me through various fabrics and cut with their expert advice. Craftsmanship is truly top-notch as it reflect the precision and pride that goes into their work. I really love their ability to combine timeless tailoring techniques with a modern touch, thus making the final result classic and stylish. Another advantage that Meiko Tailor has is their in-house production team. Turnaround time was prompt and can be assured of the top quality of care and attention to details. Would highly recommend a visit to Meiko Tailor to anyone looking for quality bespoke tailoring in Singapore.

I purchased a jacket and two shirts. Everything from the initial measurement to the fitting was superb. The tailor helped me select fabrics and took measurements, two days later I stopped by for a fitting and the tailor made some quick marks and modifications where I requested adjustment in my jacket. Everything was shipped to my home in USA a couple weeks later and everything fit perfectly. If you are looking for some nice custom clothes, I highly recommend Meiko Tailor.

Mr. Chung is a true master. In the last few years, I have had a tuxedo (with Mandarin collar), two Mandarin collar suits, and most recently, a Western-style blazer tailored by Master Chung. I wear these outfits on my trips to various places and at work in the USA and have received many compliments from friends and colleagues from all over the world. When they ask me where I have these outfits tailored, I tell them with a twinkle in my eye, "Well, you will have to travel all the way to Singapore!" During my last visit to Singapore in July 2025, I had a light blue Mandarin collar shirt made by Master Chung. When I received the shirt by courier service a few weeks later, I realized that it had buttons that showed on the outside when I had originally wanted a Mandarin collar shirt with concealed buttons. I contacted Master Chung's daughter, Adele Chung, who without hesitation offered to send me another shirt with concealed buttons without additional charge. This is what I call professionalism and exceptional service. In today's world that is increasingly dominated by large scale and AI-driven manufacturing, Master Chung represents hope that the human touch still carries value. I have the highest respect for Master Chung's pride in his art and professionalism. I recommend Master Chung to everyone with the highest enthusiasm!

Meiko Tailor is more than just a tailor; it's a family-run atelier dedicated to creating unique, high-quality garments. The team, led by Master Tailor Uncle Chung with support from his daughter Adele, provides truly bespoke service. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a suit, a sharp blazer, or even sophisticated casualwear.

Google
Meiko Tailor is a true Singapore staple and an absolute must for anyone serious about bespoke dresswear. I initially commissioned just one custom shirt—I was familiar with Meiko’s reputation and rich history, but I wanted to experience the craftsmanship firsthand before ordering more. Unlike many custom shirting shops, Meiko allows you to design every detail down to the millimeter. If you can imagine it, they can create it. I was blown away when my first shirt arrived just two weeks later. The fit, quality, and attention to detail exceeded all expectations. As a Washington, DC resident, I’ve had shirts made by several local bespoke tailors, but none come close to Meiko’s level of precision, customization, and execution—especially at nearly half the price of DC tailors. Impressed, I went back and designed a more complex second shirt featuring a California collar, cocktail cuffs, and nearly a dozen other custom details. Once again, it was flawless. Between the seemingly limitless customization options, impeccable quality, local manufacturing in Singapore, and perfect fit, Meiko ranks as one of the best bespoke tailor shops I’ve ever experienced. And beyond the shirts themselves, the customer service is second to none. The staff are friendly, passionate, and genuinely committed to making sure you’re satisfied every step of the way.

Husband had a linen suit made for our outdoor Perth summer wedding. He loved that it was lightweight & breezy and that it kept him cool! I was surprised with how painless the initial consultation process was - all we did was bring in the ties my husband intended to wear with the suit, and mentioned we wanted a linen suit but had no idea of colours. Baste fitting was only 6 days after our initial visit!

Tailored a set of suit and pants at Meiko for a friend’s wedding. Uncle Chung listens and gives you great suggestions, it showed me that he is proud of the quality and attention to detail he puts into his work. Definitely recommending anyone looking for a tailor to look for Meiko.

Google
My experience with Meiko Tailor was a pleasant one. I appreciated how patient Master Chung and his daughter Adele were towards me. I spent a great deal of time deciding on what fabric to choose for my wedding suit. They knew how important it was when it comes to choosing the right fabric for one’s wedding suit. That left a very good impression on me. Besides that, they have a wide variety of high quality fabric, and their craftsmanship is impeccable. They have a great sense of style and gave very good suggestions when it came to choosing the right colors to complement my skin tone. Compared to other tailors that I have come across, they do not simply care to make a sale but also care about how the suit will turn out and whether it matches the person wearing it. That gave me confidence in them and I knew I could entrust my wedding suit to them. All in all, I definitely made the right decision choosing Meiko Tailor and I have no regrets.

Yelp
I have been coming to Singapore since 1996, I have had wonderful experiences since then and interacted with wonderful, genuine, helpful and straight forward honest people.... I can count 3 occasions in the last 19 years where the taxi driver claimed the meter is not working, took me on a way longer than necessary, where I felt that they where not being straightforward. The difference was few dollars so I let it go. That is true until I made the mistake of looking at and being lured into this Meiko Tailor. Eve and Ronnie told me that this was their first day opening the shop, introduced me to the "master tailor" Mr Chung, all sounded very jolly. I asked about the cost of a shirt, they said it was S$130, I felt that it was comparable to the price of another tailor close by that I checked earlier and more importantly, comparable to my great tailor Simon of Coloc that I have built long friendship with and his sister over the last 19 years of using their excellent services. I thought, ok I will give them a go, so I asked to have a shirt made, picked a patterned cream (off white) Italian cotton material for it, they took my measurements, style, collar, cuffs, buttons etc, the price all of a sudden jumped to S$270. When I said this is not what you told me earlier, they claimed that it's the material I chose... Ronnie, Chung and Eve have all ganged up and were talking continuously to deflect attention. All of a sudden they wanted me to sit down, got me a bottle of water, a little cheap looking gift appeared, Eve introduced me to some shady character that was trying to sell me water that is full of antioxidants.... Making some surreal claims..... At the time, I thought ok it is expensive, it's their happy opening day, let's trying it, it could be something special..... Having slept over it and this evening I went over to collect the shirt, the shirt was nothing special, the seam looked like it was sawn in a hurry and isn't even. I am really disappointed. This is the first time in 20 years of coming to Singapore that I felt I was cheated. It bothered me. Ronnie, Eve and Chung have conned me, bait and switch is an old dis-honest practice, if they are reputable, they certainly have failed to demonstrate it. It is ok to inflate prices slightly for foreigners, but to double it, what they displayed is short sighted dis-honesty. These practices have no place in modern flourishing Singapore. They are doomed to fail. Based in my only experience, I cannot recommend Meiko Tailor to any of my friends or their friends, their behavior was not trust-worthy. I am sorry to give them one star, they did not show any star quality, I suggest that Yelp consider adding an icon for piece of coal, or a black splat or a no entry sign, courtesy of con artists, and regrettable experiences.

Yelp
I go to Singapore about 1-2 times a year and have been buying custom suits and shirts from Meiko for years. I've probably gotten about 30-40 shirts and 8 suits over the last 5 years. All have been excellent quality and get tons of compliments. I'm very athletic and find it impossible to buy suits or shirts off the rack without major tailoring that leaves them never looking quite right. I wear a size 46 jacket and have a 17 inch neck but have a 33 inch waist so if I buy off the shelf the pants basically have to be 100% re-cut and shirts are huge around the middle and the sleeves aren't right. Getting clothes made that fit properly is really great and inspires a lot of self confidence, plus it's way more comfortable. Prices end up being about the same as buying from a nice/upscale department store and are much higher quality. This includes features like non-fused jackets with working button holes, special pockets inside, etc. Shirts include any combo of button, collar, special colors on the button holes, etc. Prices vary depending on fabric choices so agree on what books of fabrics correspond to what prices and avoid any confusion as another reviewer had heartburn about.

Yelp
I have been using Meiko Tailor since 2013 (at their Pan Pacific branch) and I read the previous review with disgust. The allegations of dishonesty that have been made are very serious, and are entirely contrary to my experiences with Meiko Tailor. At the very start of our relationship, they realised that they had charged me a price that was higher than that which I was originally quoted, and insisted that they refund me the difference, in spite of my assurances that the higher price was fair in my view. While I have not commissioned any shirts with Meiko Tailor, I have made many coats, suits and trousers with them, and I intend to continue to do so, because the quality of the garments I have received have been exceptional. Meiko Tailor is not the first or cheapest tailor I have used. The fitting of my suits have been excellent, and the same observation has been made by my friends who also use Meiko Tailor. Mr Chung and Eve are also great company, and they have made all my visits to their shop very pleasant. Others have complimented my garments from Meiko Tailor in the past, and I will continue to recommend Meiko Tailor to my friends. Back to the previous review. As anyone who has commissioned garments with a tailor should know, the price of a garment would depend on the cloth that is chosen by the customer to produce it. It is not uncommon for a tailor to have a variety of cloths that a customer may choose from, and if one is unwilling to pay the price for a more expensive cloth, it would be open to him to select from a range that he is willing to pay for. I do not profess any knowledge of the exact circumstances of the previous reviewer's commission with Meiko Tailor. However, generally speaking, it would be asinine to suggest that the tailor has adopted a bait and switch technique if (i) the customer is not prevented by the tailor from selecting a garment from the cheaper range, or (ii) the customer is shown one range of cloth and requests to see a range of cloth in a higher quality, and subsequently selects from the second range. I have no financial interest in this business, and am merely a customer of theirs whose loyalty has been earned through years of honesty, diligence, and most importantly, delivering high quality garments. I have not been asked by Meiko Tailor to write this review. Although my reprobation for the previous review stems entirely from its malevolence and not the nationality of the reviewer, as a citizen of this country who has done time in its military and who has a stake in this country, modern Singapore would be better off with fewer unjustifiable attacks on the integrity of its indigenous high quality businesses from vindictive former customers.
