Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in Whistler for Spring

"Mekong is a fine-dining Thai restaurant located in an old Subway location. Known for its Thai-inspired cocktail menu and addictive plate of ribs coated in a Thai eight-spice mix, Mekong offers familiar fare with unique twists."

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Whistler. What a lovely addition to the community. It’s nice to escape from the city and try something new. What’s even rewarding is the experience. Mekong has an amazing ambiance. It’s cozy and modern. The staff are incredibly talented and welcoming. The food will leave you with warm memories. This place is a must try for newbies or foodies. Highly recommend 👍

We had dinner here tonight for my partner’s birthday. I was hoping for great food but we were both quite disappointed. It was mostly hit or miss. Chicken wings were dry, boring and had little flavour. Chicken skewers were excellent. For dinner I ordered the Halibut ($45)and the Halibut was dry and overcooked. My partner order the tenderloin for $61 and it was good but way overpriced for the tiny portion. Not once did our server come over to ask us how our dinner was. I wanted to give her feedback on the Halibut but she never asked. She did ask how our desert was and it was delicious (mango panna cotta). When it was time to get a tip she cared to ask what our plans were for the rest of the day. I took the opportunity to give her feedback on the poor quality of the Halibut which she told me was good before I ordered it. Now however she had no comments or an apology. For what we paid for dinner, this was truly disappointing.

Creekside might not offer as many dining options as Whistler Village, but Mekong is a standout that’s absolutely worth the trip. Specializing in Thai cuisine, this restaurant serves dishes that are nothing short of a symphony for your taste buds. Our first visit to Mekong last year left such a lasting impression that we made it a priority to return this year—and it did not disappoint. We began our meal with the roti and curry sauce, a delectable starter so irresistible that my daughter couldn’t get enough and wished for thirds. The crispy sea bass appetizer stole the spotlight for me; paired with an aromatic salad, it delivered a vibrant burst of flavors with every bite. We continued with the chicken wings, which were perfectly seasoned and paired with a flavorful dipping sauce. A stir-fried vegetable medley brought variety and freshness to our table, offering a delicious harmony of textures. For our main course, we shared the green curry halibut. While I personally found it a bit bland and dry, my husband enjoyed it, highlighting the subjective nature of taste. By the end of the meal, we were too full to even consider dessert. Though the prices at Mekong lean towards the higher side, the creative twists on authentic Thai flavors make it a worthwhile splurge. Our reservation at 6:15 PM meant the restaurant wasn’t too busy, and our attentive server ensured a pleasant experience. However, I was slightly disappointed by the 1.5-hour time limit set for our party of three. While we finished comfortably within that time due to the swift service, the restriction did add a layer of stress to our otherwise delightful evening. In summary, if you’re seeking an elevated Thai dining experience, Mekong is a must-visit gem in Creekside. Just be prepared for the time constraint if dining during peak hours!

One of the best South East Asian restaurants in Whistler! Hands down! We went for their spring 3 course menu and ordered the following: Tom yum chicken wings (5/5) Yam Pak Salad (3/5) 8 Spice Pork Ribs (4/5) Tom Som Clams (3/5) Gang Massaman Lamb Shank (5/5) Tuna Chu Chi (5/5) Service is amazing! Ambience is top notch. Super cool internist decor. Very tropical. Must go! 10/10

Mekong is a hidden gem in Creekside Village. Relatively new on the Whistler dining scene, it's a unique option you should definitely check out when visiting Whistler. Walking distance from any of the Creekside accommodation options and just a short drive from Whistler Village with lots of free parking available. Also easily accessible by bus from anywhere in Whistler if you don't have a car or prefer not to drive. And, if you are on the mountain, you can ski down to the Creekside base and take the short stroll down to the restaurant for lunch or après. We have dined here before. However, we had not tried many of the dishes on their new winter menu, so we asked for recommendations, which were happily provided. We were very pleased with all the dishes we ordered, sharing several starters, a main dish, and a dessert. Our favourites were the scallop crudo and crispy sea bass as well as the green curry pacific halibut. And, the coconut panna cotta was a delightful, refreshing, light finish to our meal. If you're looking to get out of Whistler Village for a deliciously different dinner in an approachably upscale yet casual, intimate location, then check out Mekong!

We tried something new and we liked it. We arrived a little after 4pm so there was a special menu before dinner. It was ok because it had everything that we liked. Everything that we had was flavorful and we really liked it. The Roti with the curry sauce was my favorite! I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. We ended up ordering another one. The pad see ew and the wings were also delicious. I definitely think it’s a must try! We can’t wait to come back.

Loved the 3 course. The tuna was excellent. Also drank the No Sleep till Whistler and absolutely loved it. My entire group had a great time.
