Melao Coffee Shop

Super slow service. Food is below average. You get free vouchers if you stay in the hotel, but you have to pay extra if you want the only decent plate on the menu. Service is poor as well. After waiting for at least an hour for my plate to arrive, i was told that my plate was given to another person. I had to eat the others person plate which wasn’t any good.

Have had breakfast here many times, the food is OK, exept for the bacon which is extra,extra,extra crispy. Inedable , to my tast at least, we asked to not have the bacon crisp too much and it was agreed by the cashier, but apparently there is no communication between them. When asked we were told that the bacon was made all once in the mourning and CANT MAKE ANY NEW BACON, which brings me to think that you cannot order anything with bacon (like a hamburger) after 11 because they will use the bacon made at 6 am. Again , I've been here many times, but this experience does not tell me to go back, yes it usually is very slow, yes sometimes the staff, specially kitchen staff is not in the best disposicion, however, I will recomend it as good food.

Very poor attitude by cashier guy with nose ring. He allowed a customer to cut in front of the designated waiting line, and when I pointed it out, he plainly said he didn't care. I turned around and went to the other coffee shop down the block and enjoyed my coffee with a beautiful view of the big fountain. Adios Melao.

Food is Delicious, specially the pasta and the burgers. Fruit smoothies are made with fresh fruit and the coffee is perfect.

The young man who served me and took the order, had extensive knowledge of the menu and service, and the young Camille, very attentive and talkative, prepared an excellent coffee. highly recommended. more places like this.

We happened into this cafe walking around the town center. We were blown away by the food, service and overall quality. The coffee is fantastic, the food is fresh and delicious. The service is by far some of the best I've ever had on the island. We don't find ourselves in this part of town often, but will be back should we be here again.

Ehhh definitely not what I was looking for in a "coffee shop" It's inside a super small casino. It may have been because they were closing but welp the service and the product were both forgettable. I wish they would've said they were closing as about 3-4 more people walked in. We ordered and espresso with condensed milk called el bombon. We waiting about 10 minutes only to receive a tiny shot of espresso with well Im not sure. It was like warm at best and we were told to stir it well because the milk was on the bottom. It was a bitter chocolate tasting concoction that was neither worth the time or money spent. Very disappointing considering I'm a coffee lover and at that moment desperately needed it.

This place, you let them know the food taste wrong, they just say, sorry, turn around and leave.

Wandered Poncé in the evening for a quick snack and happened upon Melao .. it is inside the Viva Casino, on the ground floor. I got the Fish Tacos with Sriracha sauce on the side and Mocha Cafe Latte here. The Sriracha was hotter than usual .. lol .. sure we got a nice kick out of it though .. The tacos were amazing and the coffee and the latte art was perfect to go with the tacos.

Just got cappuccino and tea here. It was good, nothing out of the ordinary. The menu looked pretty interesting and I would give it a try. I wish there were pastries but they were out.

Food was great. We had almost everything on the menu because there was 6 of us. The pancakes were tasty but a New texture. The omelette were very tasty.

Great coffee shop. The coffee was good and they had alternative milks for non-dairy folks. Cute pastries too. My favorite part? The kiddie corner! Yes! I got to enjoy my coffee while the kids played! Happy mom.

Absolutely excellent place to have a moderately priced but still gourment breakfast experience in Ponce. Melao is located in the exact center of Downtown Ponce, next to Lola, in the Hotel Plaza. The ambience is a bit touristy, but as a local, my experience was beyond comparison.

Enjoyed a lovely breakfast here today. Scrambled eggs with ham and toast and delicious cafe con leche. Very good service and nice casual place to eat right on the town square.

Stopped for a coffee before heading to San Juan. Nice decor. Friendly staff. Ordered a frozen mocha with an extra shot of coffee and chocolate. Price was reasonable. UNTIL I asked for skim milk instead of regular milk. There is a $1 charge for nonfat milk. Outrageous!! Last time I checked the price for regular and nonfat milk was the same. That's just plain abusive and greedy. The frozen mocha coffee (with regular milk of course) was good tho.

The coffee here is not great and a bit overpriced. It is burnt sometimes, and they add a LOT of sweetener to the drinks, even if you ask for less. Better off going to Coffee House at the Fox Hotel for higher quality coffee drinks.

Nice coffee house. My son had the hot cocoa with whipped cream . I had the spiced Mexican cocoa, it was delicious. It is next door to the Ponce Plaza Hotel and casino . Counter service. Friendly personnel.

Some of the best coffee I had on vacation in Puerto Rico. Try the coconut iced latte! They were open on three king's day, as well.

Incredible couple behind the counter. The prime example of bad manners and Customerservice. It was like a stare-down contest. They look at us and we looked at them. No greeting, no talking, the lady behind the counter would look at us and continue fixing the plastic ware. The gentleman just stare as if saying " What in the world are you doing here?" Finally my wife asked the lady for help because the gentleman left she walked away and helped a lady that came in after us! I figure with that attitude it was better not to order any food, so I went with a 7up. The rest of the family ordered food. We will see how that goes.

Good environment staff very friendly food was excellent however didnt get 5 star because I felt the cost was a bid high.

I'm going to explain why I am giving this place such a low rate. I'm on vacation in Ponce with my husband and we decided to go have breakfast in this place. We place our order through this glass where you can't barely hear the waitress but anyways we order two coffees, the croquet Madame turkey and a grilled cheese sandwich. I pay for my food and take a seat. First we get our coffees, and a minute later I get my grilled cheese sandwich. We start talking as we wait but after like 10 minutes I noticed the food hasn't arrived so I get up to ask the waitress about my hubby's food and she tells me she only put mine. I guess she heard wrong and thought I was changing the croquet madame turkey for the grilled cheese sandwich. Not sure how that happened but I didn't make a big fuss. She place my order, I pay and take a sit. I'm thinking she is going to tell the cook to put a rush on our food because we have been there for a bit but she didn't. We wait another 30 minutes and we see everyone who arrives after us getting their food before my husband's sandwich. He gets turned off by it and says let's go. Go get your money back and let's go. Waitress should had put a rush on his food because she made the mistake. Now here is what get me mad. I go up to the counter and I explain that to who I believe is the manager and she tells me that the food is being made and she doesn't want the food to go to waste. And I'm telling her my husband doesn't want it. We are here on vacation and We have things to do. She is literally going back-and-forth with me as to why she couldn't give me my refund. In the end I told her I am the customer and if I am dissatisfied with how my order was handle you shouldn't give me a hard time. I should be entitled to my refund. She did give me my money back after I had to explained to her that the error was done on their end. From my experienced as a waitress, I was always told not to argue with customer. I was always told to apologize and make it right if the mistake was done by us. Instead she made it seem like I should be happy my food was finally coming out after I had to come up to the counter and complain. Need better training with customer service and to me. The cheese sandwich wasn't good at all for me!

The breakfast was very good and the coffee was even better. Will go again. We has the Melao omelette and scrambled eggs with ham.

It's very colorful and modern but it took about 10 minutes to make 2 lattes. I wish the place was a little bit cozier and quicker BUT it is one of the nicest coffee shops here in Ponce!

Slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. 20 minute wait for a latte. No matter how cute or tasty... that's a waste of my time. Edit: it's been 25 minutes. Still waiting...

There was no breakfast for kids and people could sit where ever they wanted, overall it was a mess and i was disappointed.

Ponce, Puerto Rico. What a wonderful place for breakfast, for lunch, for drinking a leisurely cup of coffee or tea! Located in the Plaza Hotel across from Ponce's Las Delicias and Muñoz Rivera public square, the very center of town. The decor, the ambience, calming and inviting. The two baristas plus one cook were very friendly, charming and helpful. The coffee is divine, the orange juice is freshly squeezed. The food, very delicious. We had the Spinach Omelete with Alfredo sauce and the French Toast. Very satisfying. I highly recommend Melao, which is highly concentrated syrup of sugar cane juice and, like its name, a sweet place to relax and enjoy.

Love love love this place! So cute! I'm staying in the ramada (which it's inside of) and my room included breakfast each morning. A delicious ham and cheese sandwich on sweet bread and coffee or juice. The coffee is amazing (Puerto Rican coffee is so tasty!) and the sandwich was great. Also ordered an orange juice which was delicious. They have cupcakes, macaroons, brownies, cookies, tiramisu, all kinds of yummy sweets too. Can't wait to come back later to try something. I love the trendy modern decor and color scheme. Great location too. Overall, just awesome.

There is no place in or near Ponce that compares to this place for lunch and breakfast. The coffee is fresh and delicious. The cupcakes are divine! The burgers are simply delicious! Complete your culinary experience with dinner at Lola. Simply the best! I'm from NC and these two places are my go to when I want delicious food! You will not be disappointed.

Melao is simply the best coffee in town. It is at a good price range in comparison with other coffee shops in the area plus it has a WAY better quality than your average shop in town. Coffees are great whether they are hot or cold. The pastries are really good as well! I tried the Key Lime Pie and fell in love with it. I cannot wait to come again.

Cute little cafe with seating inside the Ponce Plaza Hotel (formerly the Ramada). You order, sit down, and they call your name when your order is ready. Fresh squezed orange juice and coffee is great and food is yummy. Just giving it 4 stars because it is a little pricey for breakfast.

Located next to the ramada inn in the square. Nice decor and ambiance . They speak English which was nice with my limited Spanish . Coffee is excellent. We had a mocha and latte. There were lots of locals inside which is always a good sign . I had the Mallorca sandwich which was very good. My husband had the breakfast burrito with bacon. The eggs were light and fluffy . He also had the French toast which was very thin but tasty.

Great coffee, customer service was awesome and the shop is clean and well spaced. I had a ham and cheese sandwich and bacon and it was good.

The baked goods here are great, but the breakfasts were very disappointing. Waffles and pancakes are same batter, different shape, resulting in the densest waffle I ever ate. Plus, it came covered in cool whip. I personally believe cool whip has no place in a coffee shop, real whipped cream only.

Cute little coffee shop in Ponce. Tried the Bombon and Carmel Macchiato. The Bombon was thick and creamy, a little too sweet, but mixed with the Macchiato blended into perfect espresso heaven on top of espresso heaven. The Macchiato is prefect on its own, semi-bitter with frothy foam milk on top. Definitely a great place to stop by for some caffeine fun.

Great coffee, nice atmosphere to relax and do work. I would give it a 5, except that the coffee is a bit pricy for Ponce (though makes sense since this cafe is part of the hotel next door). Pretty good wifi, right in front to the main plaza. Brew their own coffee from Arecibo, Puerto Rico~

Yummy capuccino served in a clear glass - loved this as its kind of rare in PR. Delicious baked goods - tried the key lime pie and some cupcakes that the baristas personally make. Even took some for the road. Will definitely be back the next time we're in Ponce!

Very nice place to stop for lunch. Great sandwiches and frozen coffees. Very good macarons as well, and the people that work there are very nice.

best coffee in ponce and they serve in a glass mug! for me, it's very frustrating to order coffee and have it served in a styrofoam cup (even paper would be better), or when it's served radioactive! melao's coffee shop, in the ramada inn hotel lobby, is a clean, colorful and beautifully appointed coffee shop right on the town square in ponce.

we were in Ponce as part of a family reunion in Puerto rico. this was just one of many places we went to and enjoyed. friendly staff, great coffee and dessert and moderate prices. there were only 2 ladies working at the time and we were a big group, but they worked quickly and got all the orders correct. a great place to take a break from Puerto rico's hot weather.
