The hotel entrance is unassuming. On the day we arrived, the member of staff on reception was unhappy and bored. No smiles to spare, after a perfunctory greeting, check in was quick and efficient. Areas were pointed out, times of breakfast were underlined. There were much friendlier members of staff later on in our stay, Olga for example lovely. I soon realised that we were the youngest folk in the hotel, many of the guests are stopping over whilst on cruises. Suited me just fine! My girls are happy to do their thing and ignore everyone so they didn't notice until later in the trip. The elderly clientele were endearing. No argy bargy for the sausages.

Our stay at Meliã Athens was truly exceptional from start to finish. Every part of the experience made our trip memorable, and we would happily return.||One of the absolute highlights was coming down to breakfast each morning and being greeted by Melina's warm smile. She made us feel welcome, cared for, and genuinely special every single day. Her kindness set the perfect tone for our mornings.||Stella was another standout member of the team. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. She made sure that every need we had was met quickly and with such friendly professionalism. These two lovely and accommodating individuals made a huge difference to our stay. ||We also want to acknowledge the excellent support from the Reception team, who were consistently helpful and efficient. Whenever we contacted the hotel by email--before and during our visit--the responses were immediate and always answered our questions clearly.||The cleanliness throughout the hotel was outstanding. Every space felt fresh and well maintained, giving a real sense of comfort and care in the hotel's standards.||The breakfast buffet was amazing, and one of the best I've ever experienced in a hotel of this standard. The food quality in both the Mondo café and Sky Lounge Rooftop restaurant was also wonderful. Everything was well prepared and delicious, and the service was consistently good.||The facilities were another highlight. |• The gym was spotless and well equipped. |• The rooftop pool was immaculate and beautifully maintained. |Despite our visit being in late October/early November, the pool was open thanks to the great weather, which was such a pleasant surprise and made our stay even more enjoyable.||Overall, Meliã Athens exceeded our expectations in every way. The warmth of the staff - especially Melina and Stella - the cleanliness, the food, and the facilities all contributed to a perfect stay. We are truly grateful and look forward to returning in the future.

Very disappointing stay for a business trip I stayed at Melia Athens for five nights (Sunday to Friday) during a business trip. I paid €640 for a room without breakfast, and unfortunately the experience was far below expectations. I arrived very late on Sunday night, around 1:30 AM, exhausted and just wanting to check in before early meetings the next morning. Instead, the reception insisted that I pay the full €640 upfront and that an additional €200 be blocked on my credit card for “potential consumptions or damages.” This created an unnecessarily stressful and unwelcoming start to the stay. The first room I was given was extremely loud due to poor window insulation, making it almost impossible to sleep, even with the earplugs that I wore. After changing rooms, the second one—while quieter—was very cold and had a strong smell of mold. Cleanliness was also a major issue: I found several long black hairs in the bathroom and even in the bed. The carpet was worn and visibly dirty, and the bathroom tiles looked old and tired. Overall, the hotel gives the impression that it has not been refurbished in decades. I have stayed in many Melia hotels, especially in Luxembourg and Spain, and this property does not come close to the standard one would normally expect from the brand. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Melia Athens.

I highly recommend the Melia. We had spent a couple of weeks in France, and had got used to overpaying for dingy little hotel rooms, especially in Paris and Lyon. The Melia is not a budget hotel, but it's good value. The rooms and other facilities are very nice. Danae at check-in was very pleasant and helpful, and started our visit to Greece on a positive note. We were tired and ended up having dinner at the rooftop restaurant. It was on the expensive end, but the food was excellent and we had a lovely view of the city, including the Acropolis. It was a great way to unwind after a long travel day, and get ready for the rest of Greece. Maria the concierge was super helpful, and arranged a very good rental car for us, delivered to the hotel. She also recommended The hop on / hop off bus and set up the tickets, and that turned out to be a super way to see the main sites. The district of Omonia that the hotel is in is a bit grungy, but the reality is that Athens is a very grungy city, and if it wasn't for its history and attractions like the Acropolis and National Museum, no one would go there. So not the Melia's fault, and it is a good central location, we walked a lot. I would definitely recommend the Melia to others.

Nice hotel, very open and helpful personnel. Beds could ve miee comfortable and I missed drinking water in a room (it was available only for extra charge). The location was good in general, close to public transport and old city, but the area by itself not so nice.

Good location, very good services, a bit old rooms BUT still clean and nice overall. It’s got a small gym, roof top with a pool and jacuzzi, and a bar. It’s also good location wise - about 10-15 mins walk from all hustle and bustle. The internet was too slow. Also, I didn’t really like that they don’t have a free bottle of water in the room. It’s always nice to have one.

We had a wonderful time here with my daughter and her family. We are grateful that they chose this place. The rooftop bar and swimming pool area is great for relaxing and offers great views of the Acropolis. They also have a well equipped gym & steam and sauna facilities. We also liked the buffet breakfast and the staff is courteous & helpful.
