Meliá Chiang Mai (Chiang Mai, Thailand) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s a hotel best known as the highest spot in the city for sunset cocktails: Mai The Sky Bar serves up Spanish tapas and 360-degree views from a pair of rooftop bars connected by a striking glass walkway. But Meliá Chiang Mai has plenty more to recommend it, starting with its location on the banks of the Ping River, with one of the city’s busiest night bazaars at its doorstep. A modernist podium building houses the sleek breakfast area, spa and fitness center, and a resort-style pool, while the rooms are located in the adjacent 22-floor tower. With parquet floors, crisp white linens, and rainfall showers, they start out more than comfortable enough. But higher up, in the exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel Level area, suites feature chic sofas built-in along the windows, traditional Thai patterns and art objects, and lavishly appointed bathrooms with freestanding tubs." - Tablet Hotels

5 new hotels and resorts to rediscover Thailand - SilverKris

"As the first five‑star hotel to open in northern Thailand since the pandemic began, I expect Meliá Chiang Mai to be talked about for Mai The Sky Bar—a rooftop perch with 360° city views made up of two bars connected by a glass bridge. Set to open in April 2022 on busy Charoen Prathet Road, it features 260 rooms with spare, clean interiors that reflect the Spanish hospitality brand’s design aesthetic." - James P. Ong

From the moment I stepped into this hotel is like being in a dream! The architecture and the ambiance give old-money vibes! The standard is quite high in terms of cleanliness and service! The staff are so endearing and wonderful. Marcela from the restaurant was so warm, lovely and sweet! I truly loved my experience.

My husband and I stayed at the Meliá Chiang Mai for four days during our honeymoon, and we absolutely loved it! The hotel is beautiful — but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the people. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, the food was delicious, and the rooms were spotless and perfectly comfortable. We also had a couples massage that was one of the best we’ve ever had — such a relaxing and special experience. We totally recommend this hotel!

Yhi Spa such a reset button for the soul! The staff was attentive without being overbearing—they listened carefully to my needs, and made sure every detail (from the temperature of the room to the music) was just right. My therapist Maew was skilled, intuitive, and focused on easing the tension in my shoulders and lower back. By the end of the session, I felt lighter, more relaxed. To top it off, the post-treatment lounge with herbal tea was the perfect finishing touch, letting me savor the calm before stepping back into the world. I left feeling rejuvenated inside and out, and I’m already counting down to my next appointment.

Meliá Hotel, Chiang Mai — Peaceful Escape Outside the Old Town The Meliá Hotel in Chiang Mai is located just outside the old town, making it a perfect choice for those who want to escape the city’s noise and crowds. The area has fewer tourists, allowing guests to fully enjoy the hotel’s relaxing atmosphere and excellent amenities. The staff are all very kind and friendly, providing warm and attentive service. There’s also a nearby night market where you can find great local food and souvenirs at cheaper prices than in the city center. If you’re coming to Chiang Mai in search of peace and quiet, the Meliá Hotel is definitely worth adding to your list.

Hotel location is really convenient, a few minutes walk away from markets and restaurants. Staff's are nice, helpful and very efficient. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, but the bathroom is on the small size. Breakfast buffet has a wide variety of delicious options. We had a great time staying at Melia and will definitely stay here again the future.

Beautiful rooftop in a very high class setting. Stunning views both sides. Kids are welcomed until 8 pm. Cocktails were delicious although my preference is for the more classical cocktails. Very sleek modern vibe.

We had an amazing breakfast/brunch here, and it was phenomenal. I stuck with the Thai food section of the buffet and then enjoyed sweets with coffee. Everything was delicious. 🤩 The staff provided exceptional service and took wonderful care of us. Their attentiveness was so impressive that I made sure to ask for their names so I could give them proper recognition here: Ms. Thalia, Ms. Lolita, and Ms. Cataline Thank you for making our day! 🙏

We stayed five nights at Meliá Chiang Mai. The location is good and the hotel itself is beautiful, with elegant décor and a pleasant atmosphere. The spa was nice, and the treatments were fine, though not outstanding. The staff was friendly throughout our stay. Check-in was quick, but not very personalized. Our room felt quite small — we didn’t have enough space to organize our belongings, and my husband had to keep his clothes in the suitcase on the floor. The bed, however, was perfect; we slept wonderfully every night. We ordered room service, but the food lacked flavor and we didn’t enjoy it. We also had dinner at two restaurants: the one on the 21st floor was excellent — delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant on the first floor was less impressive; I tried a Pad Thai that didn’t have much flavor, although I understand that can be subjective. The rooftop bar was also a nice spot to relax. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, but again, the food didn’t taste as good as I expected. Even the eggs were quite bland. One thing that surprised me was that all the coffee machines use regular cow’s milk. I’m lactose intolerant, and although they offer alternative milks, the cappuccino arrives watery and without foam. They also don’t have oat milk, which I consider a basic option nowadays for a five-star hotel. Not everyone likes soy or almond milk, and oat milk is usually the most neutral choice. The pool is very small and always full of children. I completely understand it’s a family-friendly hotel (and I really love children), but I think it would be nice to have specific quiet hours or areas for adults who just want to swim or relax. Every day, the pool area was full of noise, kids playing, and splashing, so we could only sit in one corner to enjoy the atmosphere. Since the spa doesn’t have a pool or jacuzzi, there’s no quiet area for relaxation. Overall, it’s a pleasant hotel with kind staff and good location, but there are several details that prevent it from truly feeling like a five-star experience. With small improvements in service, food quality, and facilities, it could easily become an exceptional place to stay.
