Spent two nights here at the end of May as part of a long weekend in Galicia. We arrived by train from Santiago de Compostela, and instead of getting a taxi from the station to the hotel we instead decided to walk as it was a warm and sunny day. After a 45-minute walk we arrived at the hotel, and despite it being early afternoon we were able to check in to our room.||Whilst the hotel overlooks Playa del Orzan our room unfortunately did not face the beach, but we did not find this an issue. It had two large twin beds, which were very comfortable, and was decorated in a contemporary style. The room was a good size with a large amount of clothes storage space, a quality TV and excellent wi-fi. There was a safe provided which we did not use as we found the instructions complicated, and unusually for a Spanish hotel there were tea and coffee making facilities.||The bathroom was also a good size, with dual sinks and ample storage space for toiletries. There was a powerful shower and the shampoo and soap provided were of a high standard. Towels were changed daily and the bathroom was kept immaculately clean during our stay.||We had breakfast in the hotel each day, and having stayed in other Melia hotels in Spain knew what to expect. The choice and quality were good, with a mix of local and international options on offer. The hotel seemed full during our stay but we did not have to wait for a table each morning.||As mentioned previously the hotel is well located in front of the main beach in A Coruna- during our stay the weather was good and so we spent time sunbathing on the golden sand. It is also well located for other attractions, with the Torre de Hercules a half an hour walk away, and to get to the old town is takes 20 minutes. There is also a supermarket called Autoservicios Familia a few minutes walk away, and this has a good range of food and drink. Nearby we also found a great cafe called Miss Maruja which would highly recommend.||For a short stay in A Coruna the Melia was a great option and would recommend staying here.

We had booked two rooms here. Wonderful rooms with sea view. Breakfast is great. Beach is just accross the street. City centre 5 min. walk. Staff is very friendly. All in all we had a fantastic stay here. A special thanks to the american-icelandic valet who parked the car and helped is with our luggage.

This is a lovely hotel with lovely staff. We were upgraded on arrival to a beautiful room but the reason for this soon became apparent. There is work ongoing and a hammer drill used (we think on the roof) from 10-6 which vibrates through the hotel , not restful we had to stay out for the whole day . They should not be taking bookings whilst this work is ongoing, unacceptable given the price range of the hotel. Check if work ongoing and avoid

I’m in agreement with many of the other reviews. The location is amazing but the hotel is tired. It is definitely due for a renovation. I’ve stayed in their truly 5* hotel in Sitges which is phenomenal and the a 4* Melia property in Madrid which was also very good. This one isn’t up to that standard but it is in a fabulous location and next to Bereket restaurant which is AMAZING.

Simply beautiful! Perfect location front beach and few steps to the center. The city is lovely, btw. Service is good, especially valet service. Only the breakfast room was loud and not very cosy. Breakfast was very good, though.

I was looking for a lovely hotel with a Seaview and Melia Maria Pita is this.||One arrives to be greeted b charming staff especially Andrea.||The room.was well prepared and had a gorgeous Seaview.||I did not take breakfast but as a place to stay 100% recommended.||Also the free city tour is a treat and don't miss oriental spa for Thai massage .||Enjoy

Beautiful views of the harbor. Located across from a long, crescent beach. Close to shops. Great breakfast with a wide variety of selections. Highly recommend the hotel and would definitely come back.

Very, very disappointed with Melia Maria Pita. My advice is to stay in another 4* hotel, which will be cheaper, or for the same price, stay at the 5* Hotel Finisterre. We stayed there for 7 nights in March. When we arrived, we were welcomed by the front desk staff. When we got to the room, there were a few issues, as you can see from the photos. We went down to reception and showed the photos to the receptionist. They said that they were full, so could not move us straight away, but they would see what they could do. The next morning, when I was taking a shower, the handrail nearly came off in my hand. I went to reception again to report this, and I also mentioned the previous issues. The receptionist took notes and said he would pass it on to the managers and let us know. The room was a good size, but there was only one chair, so one of us had to sit on the bed, until we asked for another one, which I think is ridiculous, especially when there is space. They provided a chair for the table, which was ok, but not particularly comfortable. The tea, coffee and drinks provision was very confusing; they give you water on the 1st day, and then nothing on the rest of the days. I would be happy if I had only paid for 1 day, but I paid for 7! The reason I am writing this review is that they don't seem to care about the guests in this place. No-one came to address our concerns, and we left feeling very disappointed. We filled in the online feedback on or return home, and received a meaningless response from the Customer Co-ordinator, inviting us to return to the hotel to give them the opportunity to prove that they are 'capable of providing us with an experience that lives up to our expectations'. Why on earth would we go back, when they didn't look after us at the time? We left this review for a couple of weeks, in the hope of a response from the hotel manager, but it seems that they can not be bothered.

Yelp
I have to admit that I did not experience any of the shortcomings that some of the other reviewers experienced. Instead, I experienced a very friendly staff in nice eclectic hotel setting. I believe the hotel is located in a retrofitted old building that was turned into a hotel. Why? Well I was on the 6th floor and as soon as I entered my room I had to climb a metal spiral staircase that went into my room? How did I get my heavy suitcase up that winding staircase? Very slowly!?! But, hey, I understand in Europe they are not as quick as we are to demolish beautiful old buildings. Which I believe is great because at the same time you are helping to preserve a piece of history. The staff was very hospitable and informative. I took the staff up on some of their restaurant recommendations and I was just blown away at how great of a food location that Coruna is. Most notably, steak from the blonde Gallego bulls which is even better than wagu beef from Japan. Yes, its true, better than wagu beef! Moreover, the seafood here is simply outstanding and better yet the prices were on the cheap side for what I received!! Fantastic eating out value! Room service was excellent. The food delivered to my room was actually very good. Also, my booking included free breakfast which I also loved. Moreover, Coruna served as a jump off point to visit Santiago De Compostela which was only a 40 minute train ride away. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to walk like all of the other thousands of pilgrims visiting. Back to my hotel stay, I highly recommend this place if you find yourself on your way this corner of Espana.

Yelp
This Melia falls well below its own aspirations. They explained that they turn off the hotel's AC chiller at 1am and the room gets fairly muggy. The WiFi and hot water are chronically unreliable. The walls are thin and heavy wood doors plus faux wood floors means that any loud footstep will wake you up. We eventually resorted to earplugs although I am a very sound sleeper generally. The Laundry and Parking are pricey and they are not helpful in finding you any alternatives to their prices. Luckily I found a nearby dry cleaners that saved me about $60 USD over the hotel. Lastly, the bathroom had very shoddy work, broken tiles, and a broken shower head meant to adjust, but it kept sliding down. There are better alternatives for the money.
