The Meliã Paulista gives the impression of an old-style hotel that would greatly benefit from a thorough renovation. The common areas are small and furnished in a dated style, while the corridors convey a rather sad and unwelcoming atmosphere.
The rooms are bare and monotonous: white walls without decorations, essential furnishings, and an overall sense of dullness. They have no personality. Not even a session with Freud would be able to find one.
Breakfast is equally disappointing: the presentation is uninspired, the selection limited, and the quality of the products far below the expectations of a five-star hotel. A modern breakfast, especially in a luxury property, should highlight local bakery and pastry products, high-quality cured meats and cheeses, fresh and healthy options, as well as an inclusive offering with refined vegetarian and vegan alternatives.
The only real strengths remain the location (extremely central and convenient) and the kindness of the staff. Beyond that, the experience falls short of what one would expect from a hotel of this category.
