The Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico, Starting at Less Than $300 a Night

"Programming at this well-landscaped Puerto Vallarta resort in Marina Vallarta is largely geared towards families. The kids' club is a major draw—they host plenty of events for kids and teens, from craft workshops to sports tournaments to pool activities—but programming extends to other parts of the resort, too, such as milk and cookies in your room. Adults and children alike can enjoy other resort amenities like the lagoon-style pool, tennis courts, a rock-climbing wall, and an archery range. For adults, there are plenty of wellness offerings, too, from the spa to yoga and stretching classes."

First of all, the staff was A+++++++ every person we encountered was super helpful and friendly. (Alejandro was very welcoming.) We did have a slight issue with our original ocean front room, they gave us a room with 2 full size beds. Which didn’t work as we are a couple, and celebrating my husbands birthday (people assume we’re brothers sometimes lol.) The staff did fix this for us the very next day, and made sure to help transfer our belongings (which we didn’t expect at all). So that was nice. Make sure you make your reservations for restaurants the first day. We were still able to enjoy them, but those are not walk in situations. The buffet is though and actually was really really good. Bartenders were all awesome, and impressive with service. We got massages and the spa area was amazing. I didn’t realize that I needed it so much. Highly recommended.

The service at Fish house was excellent and xochii was our server she was fabulous! We spent a birthday weekend at this resort! It was a family style resort with a lot of families but a good amount of adults to socialize with! The pool was cool not as warm but still good to swim in the overcast. No hot tubs. The room was clean and the they restock the fridge with drinks each day (not snacks). Overall for the price it was a really nice place to stay, hot showers, good food and great staff!! Thank you!!

We Were here this week and it’s one of the best experiences we had in sometime. The resort is excellent. I have to give 5 stars to the service and staff. They have a separate activity Center called kidsdom. Trust me it’s worth it. We felt so good keeping our child with Cassandra, Kissel and Naj. They are so kind. The entire restaurant staff was superb and kind too. All restaurants were so good, especially Fish House. For food I give them a 100 out of 10. We had an amazing stay at Meliá Puerto Vallarta.

I will start with most of the staff were amazing, the issues with this resort are clearly a lack of money and management. Our stay was for 10 days over Christmas. Extremely disappointed with the experience.Check-in was delayed because our room was undergoing repairs, we finally got into a new room which was nicer than the original , there was no hot water or coffee for 2 days, we finally got the cofee but it took three days to get a water reservoir to make it. I asked for a bottle of water and was told only in my room. The dining experience was very frustrating, the specialty restaurants had a maximum of 10 tables occupied a night yet we were told no reservations were available. Once we got to The fish house it was a great experience. “Mole and tacos”on the other hand was inedible. Resigned to the buffet, a couple of staff was rude and the food was extremely sub-par, we were told we “forbidden” take a simple snack of 4 ribs from the buffet to our room and told to pay for room service instead. Meanwhile others were taking plates full of desserts to their room. The great location of the property made it convenient to eat elsewhere. For the price, the hotel was run down and very lacking. We have been to Mexico many times and this resort was hands down the worst.

We arrived home on December 21st after a five-day stay at the Meliá. We had some concerns after reading a few reviews, but decided to go ahead with our stay—and we are so glad we did. The staff were unbelievably friendly, helpful, and accommodating from start to finish. Our absolute favourite was Jose Maria at the pool. He went above and beyond for us and was such a sweetheart. His service was truly top-notch—he made the best drinks and always made sure we were well taken care of. Jose Maria was honestly the highlight of our trip and played a huge role in making our vacation so memorable. We can’t thank him enough! We can’t wait to come back and will definitely be staying at the Meliá again—especially to see Jose!

This resort is 100% family friendly. They have so many kid’s activities during the day at the kids club and daily night shows for kids as well. Kissel at the kids club was always so friendly. I suggest that the playground is upgraded as it’s very outdated. The staff is very friendly and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The food was really good and offers options for everyone. Hugo is the restaurants manager and he ensured we were always taken care of. He went the extra mile to get my daughter an ice cream cone when the machine was down. Their spa is really nice, but we don’t recommend the haircut services as our experience was not the best at the salon, but the spa services were amazing and the massage/facial experience was great. The rooms do need upgrades as the beds are really hard and the furniture is very outdated, but overall good size rooms with balcony’s. The location is perfect as it’s only like 7-10 mins away from the airport and the resort offers a nice ocean front location with private beach access. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort and would definitely come back.

We stayed at the Melia Hotel for four days and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very well managed and the staff are particularly friendly and courteous. The entertainment team, including Valentina and Sofia, are great with guests and children and make your stay something special. The activities are a lot of fun and the hotel is in a great location. The private beach and pool are great fun. The massage experience with steam bath was exceptionally good.

This was an okay resort, but I don't think I'll be back. The hotel has a grand entrance and people work hard to keep it up, but it is a bit run down. Cracked tiles, broken walkways, peelung paint. Some staff were very friendly and welcoming, others seemed like they hated their jobs. Beach is beautiful and protected, but constant vendors. Put your towels out by 8am to get a spot by the pool or on the beach, even though there is no "reserving". Activities were really geared for families or little kids; musical chairs by the pool, crafts, archery, mini golf. We really struggled with what to do at night. Pool closes at 7pm. The resort offers "shows", but they are hit or miss; magic show was good, illusion show was okay, pirate show was not. All the adults congregate in the hotel lobby bar after dark but they are all dressed up with nowhere to go and nothing to do. They had kereoke one night and that was popular. And they had live music one night. I would have liked to have the pool adults-only after dark and have a DJ or live music in the lobby bar at night. Drinks are weak, so the only way you are catching a buzz is if you are taking shots. Buffett is so-so. I liked the omelette station in the morning. We ate at Tacos & Mole a couple times. Food was pretty good there. Service was good the first time and terrible the 2nd time. You need to make reservations a couple days in advance. You are across the street from the marina, so you can go there for shopping or different food options. There is a market in the marina on Thursday nights and there are street performers that perform in front of the restaurants at night. There is a grill at the resort pool that serves burgers, dogs, pizza and chicken nuggets. These are not gourmet. My husband and son were waiting in line for hamburgers and the server ignored them, and asked the 3rd man (a mexican man) in line how many burgers he wanted. When he said that my husband and son were there first, the employee turned around and walked away. I don't know if it was because we were American, but this was a pervasive vibe from several staff despite the fact that we were always polite, friendly, tipped well, and I speak Spanish. You need to use the app to see activities offered, but expect them to consistently start late. And you won't know where they are because the location is not posted in the app. You also need to use the app to request things like water, towels and other things because the phones in the room don't work. Requests in the app may or may bot be responded to. I suggest trading in your pool towels at the end of the day to get new ones so you can reaerce your chairs bright and early the next morning. Be sure they give you towel cards when you check in. The towel lady is hit or miss. My son checked out a volleyball and she chewed on him when he brought back at the end of the day because he didn't bring it back in an hour and a half. She didn't tell him the time limit when he checked it out and he had kept a revolving door of kids, adults and teens entertained on the beach volleyball court with a mix of competitive and for-fun games all day long. All-in-all, we met some great people here; Canadians, Mexicans and Americans. The weather was great and we went on a decent excursion (Victor at the activities desk was very helpful!). But I think the next time I go to Puerto Vallarta I will look for a resort that caters more to adults and has a better activities menu. Also, no hot tub and pickleball courts have been turned into storage.
