From the appearance, this hotel must have been around for a long time but the staff did a good job to maintain the place & kept it in pretty good working order. The room is big and comfortable. Food standard from the 2 restaurants that we managed to try is good & prices reasonably. Generally, the service from the staff is excellent. Location wise, it's a short walk to the popular Malioboro shopping street but it's easy to get Grab if you want to go to other part of the city. Highly recommended for any visitors to Yogyakarta.

This hotel was immaculate in every respect. The staff were unfailingly polite, smiling, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in rooms on the Level (top floor) with breakfast, laundry and evening buffet of canapés and cocktails or beer included in a very reasonable room rate.|I would highly recommend anyone staying at the Melia to opt for the Level. |The hotel has a large pool surrounded by tropical vegetation with a bar and restaurant service available at the pool, again with extremely attentive staff. When we stayed the pool was not getting much use, but we used it frequently.|We ate frequently at the hotel restaurant, and the only comment there is that the menu could have included many more Indonesian dishes. Every time we ordered one we were advised that the dish was “spicy”. We are very used to very spicy dishes, but I guess that the European visitors are not. Still, a more varied menu would be good. |This is a fabulous hotel and I highly recommend it for a stay in Yogyakarta. We’d go back except we have probably exhausted the sights and experiences after an 8 night stay.

Last week we spent a week at the Melia Purosani hotel in Yogyakarta. We had a very nice spacious room with a view of the garden and swimming pool. The room looked good and was hygienic! The breakfast was excellent! A wide choice with delicious sandwiches, cerials, but also various Indonesian dishes. The staff was exceptionally friendly! Sat at the bar every day. Sultan helped me several times. A Great employee with a Professional appearance, exactly what a 5 ***** hotel needs! In short, thoroughly enjoyed it! Only checking out at the reception, with the extra costs incurred, did not go smoothly, this was downright amateurish for a 5***** hotel. The receipts were not all present and there were drinks on them with my signature that I never ordered. This was questioned and I think that is very bad! The customer must be listened to better and the customer must always be trusted. But to come back to our stay: A wonderful hotel with a nice swimming pool near the center of Malioboro in Yogyakarta!

The stay was comfortable and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel needs refurbishing as it is showing its age but the rooms importantly is clean and comfortable. Location is central but as it is near the road it can get noisy at night and weekends. The pool is also small and not easy to swim more like wade around. But still one of the better hotels in the area.

We had above and beyond expectations customer service at the hotel. Rooms were so clean and spacious. The location of the hotel was excellent. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary. The bed was so comfortable. Love the hotel.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, this hotel seamlessly blends luxury with tranquility and beautiful landscaped gardens . Inside, the lobby boasts grand, high ceilings, tasteful decor, and a warm ambiance . Location is close by to the Malioboro area. I would have given a 5/5 but wifi in room 401 is terrible and also impacts the TV functionality ! The hotel’s WiFi service could use some improvement to match the overall exceptional experience it aims to provide. The water flow from the shower jet could also be improved .

My recent family stay at Hotel Melia Purosani left me disappointed in many aspects, particularly in the area of hospitality, which is expected to be the cornerstone of a five star hotel. Here’s an account of my experiences:||Lack of Genuine Hospitality|From the moment of reservation to interactions with the Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage teams, the experience felt purely transactional rather than warm or welcoming.||No Greeting or Assistance Upon Arrival|When we arrived, no staff greeted us or helped unload our luggage. I had to handle everything myself—unloading the luggage, placing it onto the trolley, and pushing it into the lobby. This lack of basic service is surprising for a hotel with a five-star rating.||Mediocre Check-In Experience|The check-in process was ordinary and lacked any sense of personalization or hospitality. Despite booking through the membership app, I didn’t notice any difference in how I was treated compared to a regular guest. Luckly reception help me to assign my room in city center view. ||Unmotivated and Unpassionate Staff|The staff appeared demotivated and lacked the passion to serve guests. From senior to junior, they failed to embody the professionalism expected at a five-star property. Even the younger staff didn’t demonstrate the proper attitude or knowledge.||For example, when I asked the housekeeping staff delivering an iron about good local culinary spots, they casually replied, “I don’t know because I’m not from here; I’m from Klaten.” This response was shocking, as a five-star hotel staff should be well-trained to assist with such common guest inquiries.|Another disappointing encounter occurred when I called the reception to request assistance in purchasing medication for my unwell wife. They flatly refused without any effort to help. I ended up going out to buy it myself. Upon reaching the lobby, I saw staff casually chatting at the reception and bellboy counter together with security lobby, showing no concern for guests in need. Additionally, when I left the hotel by car, the security staff simply stayed in their post without helping to direct or assist me in crossing the street.||Lack of Attention to Detail|While the hotel’s architecture is charming and reminiscent of an older era, there are many neglected details that tarnish its five star image. For instance, the acrylic panels in the lift lobby were chipped but left as they were, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.||Pool Area: A Bright Spot|The swimming pool was a highlight of our stay. It was well-maintained and the water temperature was comfortable, making it enjoyable for children to swim for extended periods.||Room Renovations: Good but Not Great|Although the rooms have been renovated, the materials used are of subpar quality. For instance, the showerhead in the bathroom was partially broken, causing the water to flow unevenly. Such issues should not exist in a five-star property.||Final Thoughts|Hotel Melia Purosani has a prime location and a beautiful, classic property, but it has lost its soul. The focus seems to be on transactions rather than creating memorable experiences for guests. It’s a shame to see a hotel with such potential fail to deliver the hospitality it promises. Management has a lot of work to do to restore the heart and service quality of this hotel. Without addressing these fundamental issues, the property risks losing its standing as a five star destination.
