My recent family stay at Hotel Melia Purosani left me disappointed in many aspects, particularly in the area of hospitality, which is expected to be the cornerstone of a five star hotel. Here’s an account of my experiences:||Lack of Genuine Hospitality|From the moment of reservation to interactions with the Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage teams, the experience felt purely transactional rather than warm or welcoming.||No Greeting or Assistance Upon Arrival|When we arrived, no staff greeted us or helped unload our luggage. I had to handle everything myself—unloading the luggage, placing it onto the trolley, and pushing it into the lobby. This lack of basic service is surprising for a hotel with a five-star rating.||Mediocre Check-In Experience|The check-in process was ordinary and lacked any sense of personalization or hospitality. Despite booking through the membership app, I didn’t notice any difference in how I was treated compared to a regular guest. Luckly reception help me to assign my room in city center view. ||Unmotivated and Unpassionate Staff|The staff appeared demotivated and lacked the passion to serve guests. From senior to junior, they failed to embody the professionalism expected at a five-star property. Even the younger staff didn’t demonstrate the proper attitude or knowledge.||For example, when I asked the housekeeping staff delivering an iron about good local culinary spots, they casually replied, “I don’t know because I’m not from here; I’m from Klaten.” This response was shocking, as a five-star hotel staff should be well-trained to assist with such common guest inquiries.|Another disappointing encounter occurred when I called the reception to request assistance in purchasing medication for my unwell wife. They flatly refused without any effort to help. I ended up going out to buy it myself. Upon reaching the lobby, I saw staff casually chatting at the reception and bellboy counter together with security lobby, showing no concern for guests in need. Additionally, when I left the hotel by car, the security staff simply stayed in their post without helping to direct or assist me in crossing the street.||Lack of Attention to Detail|While the hotel’s architecture is charming and reminiscent of an older era, there are many neglected details that tarnish its five star image. For instance, the acrylic panels in the lift lobby were chipped but left as they were, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.||Pool Area: A Bright Spot|The swimming pool was a highlight of our stay. It was well-maintained and the water temperature was comfortable, making it enjoyable for children to swim for extended periods.||Room Renovations: Good but Not Great|Although the rooms have been renovated, the materials used are of subpar quality. For instance, the showerhead in the bathroom was partially broken, causing the water to flow unevenly. Such issues should not exist in a five-star property.||Final Thoughts|Hotel Melia Purosani has a prime location and a beautiful, classic property, but it has lost its soul. The focus seems to be on transactions rather than creating memorable experiences for guests. It’s a shame to see a hotel with such potential fail to deliver the hospitality it promises. Management has a lot of work to do to restore the heart and service quality of this hotel. Without addressing these fundamental issues, the property risks losing its standing as a five star destination.
