We loved it and extended our stay. The spa is small but perfect. On point jets in the jet pool, good swimming pool which is also suitable for an actual exercise. The Turkish bath was superb. Dry sauna needed a bit more isolation (the door wasn't isolated. Very friendly and helpful staff in the spa and the hotel in general. I had for different treatments in the spa, all very good. Breakfast was rich, but for us there were some vegetables missing. There were none, but there are fresh fruits. The room was comfortable and nice sized. Shower was excellent! It's 15 minutes slow and nice walk to the center, but it's so quiet and beautiful area. Many cafes and restaurants 2-5 minutes walk. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful experience my family and I had at this hotel. The service is great and the people are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good and the pool and spa service were lovely. Truly a wonderful experience. The elevators had a little problem, that is the only con it had. But overall, the service and the rooms were awesome.

What a huge disappointment this hotel is. After traveling on the Camino for several weeks and staying at various Alberque's I was looking forward to being spoiled at a high class hotel for a few days. Unfortunately, I received better service at any Alberque I stayed at then I did at Melia Ria. Everything at this expensive hotel is an extra. Want to use the gym; its an additional charge. Want to use the pool; you must pay and they require everyone wears a bathing cap(the cap is also a added charge). Pool time and exercise time is also limited to 1 hour total per day. The hotel looks to charge for every little thing. They provide in room, coffee and free breakfast; however, they charge for coffee at 14:00 but it's free if you go to your room and make it yourself. If you are out of in-room coffee, the front desk gives you as many pods as you want for free. In general, the staff is friendly but does not understand Customer Service. The bar is open but you have to search for the bartender. Then they tell you "its easier for me if you pay now", so when I want a 2nd glass of wine I have to start searching for the bartender and start the process all over again. I don't know why they couldn't take my room number and let me run a tab. Next time, I will stay at an Alberque or a less expensive hotel where customers are appreciated and I can be better served.

Four stars hotel placed right by the lagoon, beautiful sights, nice building, super friendly staff, bar, restaurant, gym, pool, sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi. Five minutes walk to the town center, fifteen minutes drive to the beach. One hour away from Oporto airport (OPO), train station very neat (ten minutes walk). Everything you need for some nice days. Also a great restaurant of the same company group, called "Olaria", great food and views, just two minutes walk from the hotel.

This was the biggest and busiest hotel we stayed in on our driving tour of Northern Portugal. Opinions will differ on the look of the place: a striking modern building making a bold statement, or an ugly cube dropped beside the canal basin. On a practical level, it did seem odd that the horizontal stripes which dominate the exterior, partially block the views from the windows on the inside.|We had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the canal. It was clean and comfortable.|The staff on reception were very helpful, making a phone call on our behalf to check availability with the company who offered bird watching tours of the lagoon. (Sadly fully booked).|The restaurant: There was a good range of choices for breakfast. We had booked a half board package and were pleased with the food on offer in the evenings. However, for one of the evening meals we found the restaurant overwhelmed by delegates from a conference that had been held in the hotel, with nowhere for us to sit. To his credit, the maître d’, who was incredibly busy, went out of his way to accommodate us in the bar area and did offer us the opportunity to dine in a restaurant on the other side of the canal basin.|Overall, a little too busy for our taste – bigger than we imagined. Efficient but not restful.

Joah Santos and Marganda Carvalho in the front desk made our stay incredible!!! I wish... I could stay here couple more days! Thank you for all your service

Cold room, noisy heater, and windows not proofed. And service without real answer. Compared to my 1st experience, it’s a deception.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The air conditioning was broken, making the room uncomfortably hot. To make matters worse, they charged an extra 37€ to use the pool, which should have been included in the amenities. The only positives were the good location and the nice breakfast. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to others based on my experience.

Yelp
This is a nice hotel that is just down from the shopping and square. Nice and quite inside and out. The food isn't bad but I would say the breakfast is the best of the three. Great little gym and spa to help keep you in shape and relaxed. Restaurants and bars are all within walking distance.
