Meliá Varadero Hotel

We had not visited Cuba in many years but heard wonderful things about this older resort and were not disappointed. Melia Varadero is very compact, well maintained and does very well given the shortages and inflation plaguing Cuba. We upgraded to the Level which allowed us to eat at the a la cartes every evening booking easily with our concierge. It also allowed us to order room service and have cappuccino overlooking the ocean from our balcony which was great. The beds were comfy, we had warm water and great service. The food in Cuba is limited and we found that they would put out things at the buffet and not replenish them so finding meat or fries or hot fresh food was a bit trying. I think they were avoiding waste which I appreciate but sometimes our teen son had trouble finding ways to fill up! The a la cartes were great though so grateful our dependence on the buffet was limited. The beach was gorgeous and that is why one goes to Cuba! We will consider returning to this property for sure and definitely Cuba overall. They are really suffering and depend on tourism and the value for money is great compared to other parts of the Caribbean. I know they have not seen tourism bounce back since COVID and I hope this changes as it’s a magical place. This property is quiet and doesn’t have much night life or shows which is fine by me but perhaps reconsider if that is an important part of your vacation plan!

So far my wife and I love this hotel. It takes awhile to remember which entrance/exit goes where, because it a seven point star shaped hotel. They are doing many renovations and upgrading rooms. We got to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms with an ocean view and had no issues. We did have to ask how to use the air conditioning properly because when it cycles on and off it would wake us up. We were upgraded to the “Level” and have enjoyed all the perks that come with the upgrade. We love the TexMex A La Carte for breakfast and dinner and enjoy the Level lounge. The main buffet can have long line ups for breakfast omelettes and lunch time grilled meats so eating breakfast at the TexMex A La Carte is stress free and peaceful. The bus ride from the airport seemed short because the people on the bus were having a great time drinking cervesas and chatting, but was about one hour because of the stops at other resorts. All in all I’d come back to enjoy this cool resort.

We had a beautiful room fully renovated, spacious and modern. The resort is very clean. The beach is absolutely stunning. The service from staff is great. They are humble and helpful. Noe from the buffet goes out of his way to have a wonderful selection of food for the guests. I was very satisfied with the food. They entire staff greets us when the we walk into buffet ❤️

We had an AMAZING experience. The staff at the hotel are super friendly, helpful and they want you to have a great vacation. For us was even more special because my husband and I got married at the hotel. Claudia was our wedding coordinator and she was so easy to work with and professional, she went over and beyond organizing a beautiful ceremony and reception, we were more than happy with everything and exceeded our expectations. The chef cooked a delicious menu for our wedding, everyone involved were so great and worked very hard to make a great experience for us. We have no words to express our gratitude. Our families had an amazing time and our wedding day was so special and beautiful. We will definitely go back and relive all the wonderful memories. Thank you Claudia and all the staff for making our wedding and vacation so special!

My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Meliá Varadero - The Level.||All of the staff on the 5th floor were wonderful.||The only comment I would make is that the checkin process is not smooth. It was not clear how or where we should checking for The Level.||The breakfast and lunch a la carte restaurant for The Level was our favourite. The servers were excellent and we really enjoyed the food. Being able to sit outdoors in the winter and listen to the ocean was terrific.||We have already told friends & family about the resort!||Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Very nice hotel with excellent staff. Would very much recommend upgrading to the Level, worth every penny. The Level concierge staff are especially good. Enjoyed Japanese restaurant. We also upgraded to a suite- superb. On a lovely beach

It was my first time in Cuba, and my boyfriend and I had a room with an ocean view—what an amazing experience!||||Upon our arrival, Miguel, the best valet in the world, served us champagne twice and made us feel completely at ease. We chatted with him while Tatiana at the front desk handled our check-in. Then, Miguel escorted us to our room, explaining where the restaurants were along the way.||||Throughout our trip, they were our go-to people because they welcomed us so warmly! 10/10 for them! And we can’t forget Luis, the best breakfast chef at the buffet! We had so much fun preparing our omelets with him—such a lovely person!||||The service, beach, pool, room, and food—everything was perfect! Of course, the food lacked variety at times, but we still ate well! ||I highly recommend this hotel—100%!||||Thank you for this amazing experience and to all the wonderful staff who took care of us and made our stay unforgettable: Ulices and the tattooed guy with the Guns N’ Roses tattoo at the lunch snack bar, Deynel for our morning coffee, a second Miguel for our mimosas at the buffet, Osmany, Tony, and Osvaldo for the poolside cocktails, and of course, our lovely housekeeper!||Alex & Kim

This resort is highly recommended. This was our 6th stay at the Melia and again we were not disappointed. We were there from the 9-23 February 2025. Once again we were treated like royalty. The food was outstanding and we never had a shortage of it. We were given a fully modern renovated room on the second floor. We had a small issue with the room A/C and it was taking care of in a timely matter. As always, the premises were always clean. Service with a smile and very professional at all restaurant and at the reception. Yumi, the hotel manager and her assistant Janet were always available to customers to solve any issues that may occur in a very professional matter and often in favor of the client. My overhaul rating to this hotel is simply outstanding. The staffs are constantly striving to offer the best service. Access to all amenities in and around the resort is very easy. This hotel is constantly improving its image. We had a great time at this resort and we will return next year. The Melia Varadero has greatly met our expectations in all aspect during our stay. I cannot end my review without mentioning an exceptional service of Gustavo, Dianeisy, Odalys, Cristobal, Danays, Sara, Lysandra, Dayami, Julia, Ulises, Alexei to name a few and all the staff behind the scene that makes it happen, a big thank you.
