I just spent a week at the Melia, and the hotel was excellent. I was fortunate enough to be in a Level Room with a view of the Danube and city skyline - absolutely beautiful.
The room was minimalistic and contemporary. A plush King-sized bed, a dark waterfall shower. My favorite feature was the bathtub, though - I am a tall person, and it's very rare that I can submerge myself in a tub without my knees poking out and getting cold. It was really delightful.
We also opted for the included breakfast, which was excellent. Several options, from pastries to eggs and bacon. And of course, delicious coffee.
We ate dinner at both the Flow restaurant and Level 57. Flow is great for a tasty, quick meal, and the service was very attentive. I also got lattes from there nearly every afternoon, which were delicious as well. The Level restaurant offers a beautiful view of the city, and a more upscale dining experience. Be sure to make reservations, though, it is not easy to get in last minute.
My only complaint, which really has nothing to do with the hotel, is that it is a bit out of the city center. But, it is about a 5 minute walk to the nearest subway stop, and from there you can be in the the city center in about 10 minutes. By taxi, it was usually about 10-12 euros to the city center.
Overall, it is a new and modern hotel, and I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Vienna as long as they don't mind not being in the middle of everything.
