Such huge potential for this stunning hotel. I’d say the hotel itself gets a 4/5 and the other issues weigh it down to a 2. ||Constant disappointments, mainly from the staff and lack of. If you c.b.a to read the nitty gritty it boils down to rude staff at check-in, lack of staff all weekend, only one restaurant open all day with limited menu, NO ability for cocktails or ANY drinks or food poolside or room service whatsoever. Whilst waiting for our airport transfer we saw a guest get an Uber Eats of Papa Johns pizza to the hotel which will tell you all you need to know! He said “such a stunning hotel, if only they knew how to run it!”. This totally sums up our experience and only wish we had used Uber Eats too!!||It started the moment we arrived. It was my birthday so I was very excited to be at a lovely hotel and on holiday. We were ignored for a good 5 mins at an empty check in desk by 3 laughing ladies behind the desk (and this was at the LEVEL 5* reception), to a boring and lengthy check in which seemed to take an eternity (at least 20 mins checking every passport and 1,000 clicks on her computer screen, lots of talking in Spanish to her colleagues as if we were imposters). At 9:30pm with two children in tow, no offers of water etc, told to then wait outside and someone will come. We had to ask twice who and when they would collect us as there was no sign of life and instructions were extremely limited like their English. Incidentally my daughter told the lady it was my birthday (which she would’ve seen at the extensive passport check) and our anniversary the next morning but we assumed she must’ve not understood us as she didn’t comment or anything materialise in our room which we would’ve had at any other hotel on an occasion.||The family room albeit good logistically, was very basic and smelled awfully of old man cigars. I would’ve asked to move but it was past 10pm by now and we were too tired to have a battle and only here for 3 days. ||Two fire alarms sounded on consecutive days without any warning, one waking us up on our last day. I had to call reception on both occasions to make sure we didn’t need to evacuate, and was told to ignore them. Extremely inconsiderate of guests to not even inform this was taking place.||Breakfast was plentiful but somehow uninspired. I can’t put my finger on what it was as every category you’d find in the UK was covered, but it wasn’t anything to get excited about going to. Lots of fruit options but most unripe, salad looked nice, cooked food just ok, lots of cured meats and cheeses. Cereal choice mediocre, good pastry option, fresh OJ the star of the show and alternative milk variety.||The hotel is vast and pool is stunning. There is however no ability to get a drink or food anywhere other than the one restaurant by reception which had a very limited menu, even though there are apparently 5 restaurants. The bar was unmanned for all of Saturday whilst every staff member seemed to be tending to a wedding taking place (and an absolute stunning wedding it looked!). Ice cream shop CLOSED the whole time! Tiny shop had a few crisps and sweets, no drinks or shop bought ice cream. My husband complained that we couldn’t even get a water and we did get our late check out taken off our bill which was appreciated. ||Went into Benidorm old town both nights. First we found a fantastic restaurant, second not so great. We definitely had to leave the hotel at night for fear of dying of boredom. ||In conclusion, triple your staff intake and send them all on a customer service course. An expensive stay for 2 special occasions that was not justified at this hotel.
