We came here for lunch on a weekday around 1 PM, and the place still had plenty of seats, which was nice. I ordered the Prime Rib Benny and it was so delicious! Instead of the usual English muffin, they used Yorkshire pudding, which had a slightly crispy shell and a fluffy, buttery inside. The beef was juicy and soaked into the pudding, and with the runny egg yolk on top, everything just came together perfectly🤤 I asked for the shredded potatoes to be crispy, and they came out golden and crunchy, exactly how I like them. My partner got the fish and chips, and we were both really surprised by how big the fish was. It was a whole fillet, nicely fried, and the inside was still moist and soft, not dry at all. Definitely something we’d recommend. The staff were friendly, and the prices felt pretty reasonable for the portion sizes and quality. Overall, it was a really nice experience!

It was PERFECT! We went on Wednesday afternoon where we got happy hour drinks and appetizers. The service by gentleman Shawn was impeccable. The interiors had a great rustic cabin vibe with great chilling music. Best part was the food variety and happy hour prices. We tried prime ribs with stuffed yorkes, beef dip sandwich, & bison meatballs. All were good. Try the daily specials!

Nice spot for lunch. Service is good and food is great. Came by between 2-3pm so there was not a long wait between orders. I had the buffalo starter, steak and chips main and the brownie for dessert. Worth a visit!

Google
We were seated promptly and given beautiful window seats. The waitress ( KIM ) was very knowledgeable. But her team in the kitchen let her down a bit. I am very sorry to say. The steaks I ordered medium and asked not to have any blue. It came rare, sent it back and it came back still undercooked. The lobster tail and Yorkshire pudding were awesome. Kim was amazing. The management and their decision to purchase subpar meat from Sysco is not doing anything for their business.

Two Stars - Below Average - 2025.7.29 We came in at 8:30pm, to a nearly empty restaurant. We ordered an 8oz slow-roasted prime rib medium rare, the Pasta of the Night—featuring an odd and over-salted sauce, created from the unholy alchemic combination of chicken florentine and pesto—and a kid's Hawaiian deepdish pizza. The pizza was clearly frozen, which was surprising for its $13 price tag. The pasta was quite a small portion for $31 whole dollars before tax—I've not even seen such prices in New York City. The worst crime of all was the prime rib; it came out dry, with a flavourless au jus, and dry mashed potatoes. The only saving grace was the server. He put up good conversation.

Google
What a fab place! Quick to seat us and fast serving food. JM was our server, he was ultra polite and friendly making sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and we couldn't easily come back again had we not had other plans. Definitely visit this place for fab Canadian vibes!

Food is great, staff is very friendly, Shout out to AJ for making us one of the best non-alcoholic cocktail. Highly recommended 👌

Google
We were greeted and served by Shawn. He was very professional, funny and recommended us with amazing deals. We went on a Wednesday afternoon, benefitted from 3-6pm happy hour prices (10$ appetizers, discount on drinks). Starting at 4pm, they had a special on full rib rack for 20$ (but we didn't have). They have daily specials Sunday to Friday! Very nice specials, food taste was amazing, we had beef dip, Yorkshire puddings, bison meatballs and pork riblets. Atmosphere was chill (mid-week, mid-afternoon). Service was exceptional. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast.... It did not disappoint. The bloody Mary's were on point. I had the waffle, others had the French toast and the apple pancake was fantastic. If I were to come again I would eat the Swiss pancake or the French toast. French toast is large so two slices is probably plenty but we finished all three pieces. Service was fantastic and great atmosphere. Definitely pick this place if on the fence.

Yelp
Had dinner at Melissa's Steakhouse in Banff and tried a mix of starters. We shared four different ones, and while they all tasted good, the dry ribs weren't really our thing, though they looked fine. The nachos were great and came in a huge portion, even with just half a plate. For drinks, we stuck with beer, which was decent but nothing special. The atmosphere was okay, but we were there pretty early, just before the rush, so it might have felt livelier later on. The staff was friendly, though a bit inexperienced. Overall, a decent spot with good food and a casual vibe. Would come back, especially for the nachos.

Yelp
I hate to be negative but nothing we ordered was good. 62 dollar ribeye was half an inch thick and tasted like hamburger. Smoked old fashion had no smoke and did not smell of wood at all. My wife had a 38 dollar hamburger that tasted like it was from a theme park. 1 out of 5 stars. Definitely not a steakhouse!!! Stay away. I warn you! Don't go there!!

Yelp
On a recent family & friends trip to Banff, we hit up Melissa's Missteak for dinner. It's got that casual vibe with a sports bar and a dance floor. The menu is mostly about the meats (yay!) and surprisingly, the prices didn't make us want to cry, especially for a tourist spot. Service was a bit meh, but the food was delicious. The mushroom soup starter warmed us up. Then the prime rib, steak, and ribs were cooked perfectly. The ribs were a tad fatty and sweet for me, but the group loved them. My fave was the prime rib -- so tender! Definitely recommend this place over some of the pricier joints in Banff.

Yelp
Pretty good bar/restaurant but it was dead during the week. They claim to have live music Thursday-Sunday but we returned on Thursday to find a guy mixing music on stage. It was ok but he was only playing for about 15 of us in the crowd. The best thing we had was the loaded Chicago style pizza. It was really good!!

Yelp
Conveniently located at the heart of Banff and across the street from the hotel we stayed. Large restaurant and has a nice lodgee feel to it. The place wasn't very busy. We sat by the window and had a nice view of the town and the mountain. Service was friendly and had great conversation. I ordered the 8oz prime rib, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy, cauliflower and broccoli, horseradish, and "yorkie pudding." The prime rib was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. Steak with mushroom sauce and fries were fantastic as well. Overall great atmosphere and great for groups, great views, great food, and great staff!

Yelp
Let's be clear finding Melissa's MisSteak was no mistake. While on a work/vacation (wife working, me vacationing) I found Melissa's while craving a Bloody Mary. As they are open early I walked through the doors and found a place where I felt like I was among longtime friends. I was quickly reminded it's Canada and you order a Caesar not a Bloody. From there I found every excuse I could to stop in to grab a drink and chat with the owner, the bartenders and most of all the everyday locals that call Melissa's their second home. A big thank you to the owner and staff for making me feel at home during my visit. I'm planning on visiting in the spring and will no doubt be back to catch up on the winter stories.

Yelp
I had a great experience at this restaurant with my group! We sat outside on the balcony that was overlooking the main strip in downtown Banff. Sydney was our waitress and she was great! She was so friendly and welcoming. I ordered the bleu cheese burger and poutine & it was delicious! I highly recommend checking this

Brooke H.

Yelp
The apple pancake was delicious. The waiter was super friendly. The ambiance has a lodge feel to it. We wanted to try the "syrup" while in Canada but hard to find a pancake place. Melissa's checked that box.

Yelp
First time in Banff, looking for a spot to eat breakfast and explore, and found this place. Great food, great atmosphere, great service (thank you Kelly!) and great views of the surrounding landscape and for people watching! We had the mushroom and Brie and smoked salmon bennys and they were so good! As was their coffee! I'm saving this place in my favorites for next time!
google avatar

Jan C.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal here. We split the grilled cheese with bacon, which had great flavor, and a Caesar. Our server, Kelly, was great. He was personable and helpful.

Yelp
We came for breakfast because I wanted to try the yorkshire benny it was so good! The hash im pretty sure is just frozen not home made it was very boring. Waffle was tasty but again nothing special. It looks like this is more of a night life place they had a stage and everything. Service was good server was nice.

Steven M.

Yelp
Came for breakfast and as a steak house, this was great. Had to try the steak and eggs and it was delicious. Our server was there whenever I needed him and was super welcoming. Super cabin feel going on inside with the same idea of you can and drink here.

Alapan A.

Yelp
Stopped at Melissa's MisSteak for breakfast on our last day at Banff. It's conveniently located in the downtown, and comes across more of a pub/bar than a restaurant. The breakfast was nothing special, the Montreal smoked meats eggs benedict was drenched in hollandaise; my mixed grill was a good combo, but nothing notable. And the coffees were really bad - especially given how much good coffee can be had at Banff. I would not recommend this for a breakfast stop - especially given the number of better options available.

Yelp
Fantastic prime rib & service in Banff! This restaurant is on the second level so you'll have to get to the door and go up some stairs. When you're inside, it's super spacious with a very saloon-y feel. We were greeted with a friendly smile and they were able to seat us earlier than our reservation. I recommend making a reservation, and it's super easy to do online. We both got the prime rib and it was fantastic! We were told that there wasn't a rare prime rib but we got medium rare. It was cooked perfectly and came super quickly with veggies and a Yorkshire pudding. The pudding was great too! Nice and flakey. The gravy was very meaty and perfect to dip your prime rib in. Service was super friendly (AJ was super nice!) and prompt. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice affordable prime rib dinner in Banff.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Practically empty for brunch when we came despite having an extensive breakfast/brunch menu. The Yorkshire benny was creative and tasty. A gripe I have with traditional eggs benedict is that sometimes the english muffin is too tough or doesn't cut with the rest of the toppings but to have the swap with a yorkshire pudding meant it was tender and absorbed the hollandaise sauce well. The poached egg was closer to soft boiled, no runny yolk, but it was still okay. Others in my group had the BLT and the eggs/hashbrown/saugage combo. Nothing exceptional but having more hollandaise sauce to dip was nice. Great central location with nice views of Banff Ave.

Yelp
I went to Melissa's MisSteak and it was a so-so experience. My partner and i both ordered steaks (of course) rare and med-rare. They both came well done... it definitely was perplexing having your steak come wrong at a steakhouse. Our server was very apologetic and replaced our steaks as well as comped 2 beers which was nice - but in my opinion, a proper steak house shouldn't mess up a steak in the first place. We ordered calamari as an appetizer as well, i thought it was quite bland and lacking a little colour. You can be the judge of that.

Yelp
Very nice spot for brunch with a view of Banff avenue! We loved our breakfast and the cozy, western atmosphere. We ordered the eggs chorizo Benedict and an omelette and loved every bite!
google avatar

Ally S.

Yelp
Got the harvest benny, one egg $14 (2 eggs would've been $22). Omg, the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever tried. I wish I got 2 eggs just so I could have had more of it! The asparagus was cooked nicely, and still had a good crunch to it. I really liked this and I'd for sure eat the same thing again!

Daryl C.

Yelp
The food was fine, but the service was not the best, a real MisSteak! Once done eating, the waitress came over to take the plates away and asked if there was anything else. We said no, just the check please. It took over 20 minutes for her to finally come back and take our payment. During the 20minutes , she disappeared from the floor for 10 minutes, and then came back and talked with another family about everything but food for 10 minutes, before finally coming back to our table to ask us if we wanted our check, which we had already told her we did. Will not make a MisSteak like that again, we will be going back to Melissa's MisSteak.

Yelp
We stopped in for the first time for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal, quick and excellent service from J.D. and the food every course was delicious. We shared the prime rib stuffed Yorkies which were juicy and delicious, my husband said he could just eat that fro a meal. Ordered the prime rib eggs Benny and the hot turkey sandwich with a side of the house tomato Parmesan soup for our mains both were tender and juicy and delicious, ranks up there with one of the better hot turkeys I've had, fresh juicy turkey lots of gravy on French bread. The soup had a great flavour. And for dessert we shared the fresh Saskatoon and apple crumble which was quite lovely. Good hearty home cooked meal feel to everything we had.
google avatar

Yelp
I was little apprehensive going for breakfast at a steak place but based on reviews their breakfast seemed to be consistently good than the steak or other meals. As we entered, the place gave us a diner/cabin feel which was nice and cozy. The staff was friendly and food was served fairly quickly as well. We got the smoked salmon benedict and crab asparagus omlette. What I love about this place is that you can get your benedict half size (one egg) which works out great for me as I usually find the 2 egg benedict pretty filling. Overall good place to grab a comfort meal before heading out sightseeing for the day.

Yelp
We sat upstairs in the Lounge during Friday happy hour (discount on beers and cheap wings). I had a buttered rum drink and it's served warm. The Melissa's stew was delicious. You could taste that it was homemade and there was a bayleaf in it! It was served with garlic breAd. There is a lounge menu plus you can order off the downstairs menu. There is self serve popcorn upstairs. There was a section of tables labeled "locals section". You could tell locals enjoy this place. I highly recommend this place for quality home cooked food.

Yelp
The views were scenic and the avocado toast was spot on! They use bread from the bakery across the street! I loved the local fresh toast. Our hostess was amazing and we felt so warmed and welcomed as visitors in Banff. Worth a brunch date overlooking the beautiful mountains!
google avatar

Nadia A.

Yelp
Definitely was not impressed. I came here because I read in a blog that this was a great spot for breakfast. I will say it was average at most. Portions are large but flavors were lacking. My scrambled eggs were served folded and were flavorless. The bacon was alright nothing memorable. The hashbrowns are served loose and lacked flavor. Surprisingly the toast (that I didn't want) was the best part. It was fresh, lightly toasted and the melted butter was a great plus. My advice to the chefs salt and pepper don't be afraid to use it. Reasonably priced food

Carrie Ann E.

Yelp
Came here last month with a group of about 17 Banff Marathon runners after not being able to be accommodated at another restaurant. Glad we found this place. Our entire group was seated almost immediately in the back area. We had JM who was friendly, upbeat and so efficient! The food was good and service exceptional. JM was awesome, the bartender (who speaks many languages ) was great and the rest of the staff also worked just as hard to help get our big group of hungry runners fed! Wish we had the energy to return at night when the real partying starts! Great spot!

Yelp
Went for breakfast. Tasty, simple and fast. It's nice because they open early. Would come back.

Yelp
Service was great! Everything came out great and we really enjoyed ourselves! I really enjoyed the Caesar salad!
google avatar

Peter W.

Yelp
Enjoyed a burger with salad and draft beer at the bar. Bartender was okay, food alright, not overly crowded but a bit slow with service. Not my top choice for eating in Banff as I enjoyed so many other venues. But I did eat it all and hiking will make you hungry, LOL!

James P.

Yelp
If you're just looking for a bar and maybe live music...fine but the food at lunch was just ok. Looks like the nightlife scene is their main focus.
google avatar

Yelp
I arrived at 6PM on a Saturday and was seated at the bar. The atmosphere is fairly loud, with no barriers between guests, and pumped in music. It has an ambiant dB of around 75 while half full, measured from the bar. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blu from the menu with roasted potatoes and a glass of water. When my food arrived I'd still yet to receive silverware, which someone was able to grab for me. The mushroom sauce was excellent, if a little scare, and the chicken was cooked well. The roasted potatoes were badly over cooked, to the point of actually being tough. Something I'd never experienced outside of food that's been under a heat lamp for hours. The veggies were also barely seasoned, and the whole dish needed a fair bit of salt. I returned the roasted potatoes as they were inedible, and received mashed potatoes. These were an improvement and were at least properly cooked, with a flavour that was not quite butter, I suspect they used margarine. The gravy tasted like it used packaged mix, and it was disappointing. They have slow cooked meats on the menu but don't make it into quality gravy. I sent back most of my food and was given a 25% discount. But even with that I drastically overpaid for food a chain diner could have made better. I think I now know what Melissa's Mistake was, below average food for premium prices.

Yelp
I only had one mealtime free in Banff, and it was lunchtime, which presented something of a problem for my desire to have an Alberta steak, because most of the steakhouses are only open for, or only have steaks at, dinnertime. But lo, I saw that Melissa's offered a ribeye steak sandwich for lunch, so I went there and ordered that. It's not a steak sandwich, gratifyingly enough. It's a reasonably-sized boneless steak, on a plate with a steak knife, and what makes it a "sandwich" is, there's a thick slice of garlic bread. It was more medium well than the medium rare I'd ordered, and it wasn't exactly the height of prime-quality Alberta beef, but it was a good steak, not too dry in the middle and interestingly-enough marbled around the outside. I was quite satisfied that I'd come to this casual-dining restaurant.
google avatar

Allyson L.

Yelp
It was good but not worth the price. I got a 6 oz steak on ONE piece of garlic bread and a side of fries. The fries were pretty good, but it wasn't that much. The steak was pretty tough. I guess I should have asked for medium rare instead of medium. The garlic bread was good, but shocked it wasn't like a sandwich type. I don't think I would go back here if I ever came back. Alberta is known for their beef but it wasn't too great here.

Yelp
Stopped in here after seeing a sponsored Yelp ad, gotta support Yelp!! It was also late on a rainy evening and I was trying to get a delicious but quick meal before heading to the campsite. There is RV only parking a block away which is also how I ended up at Melissa's. Lots of large groups dine here so I got a little lost in the shuffle dining alone. But, not too long after sitting down the waitress came over with a smile and food suggestions. Lobster is a popular item here looking around at other tables and at the menu. I did not injure as to where it comes from as I'm not a lobster fan As a true steakhouse I went with the ribeye over a filet to enjoy a fattier steak after lake adventures. The 12oz cut was cooked to the right temperature and was tender. Nothing exceptional but a quality steak with a small side of vegetables and a mini scoop of mashed potatoes. If you want more sides, I would think a baked potato would be the better option. The restaurant interior with a little stuffy with a classic steakhouse decor including fancy wood trim, dark carpets and deep purples (I'm pretty sure I remember that paint color). Prices are fair for the quality of goods and they offer a selection of beer, wine and liquor. It's a classic spot in Banff that holds tradition.

Sarah H.

Yelp
First thing that gets 5 stars is that they have the wifi info right on the menu. We went here for breakfast and Sydney was our waitress and she was awesome. Very friendly and made us feel welcome. So attentive and checked on us regularly. The food was quick too and it was delicious. Generous portions and bacon cooked perfectly crisp. Highly recommend for breakfast to anyone. Only thing they could do better is allow dogs :)
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
This was our last meal of our Banff stay and we picked a good place. The decor is very Banff. We had an excellent breakfast before hitting the road. Es had pancake bacon and hashbrowns. I had eggs and corned beef hash. All good. Only complaint was they have only the shredded hashbrowns which I am not big on. But the server suggested we get them done extra crispy and that worked well.

Yelp
Melissa's is probably one of the oldest restaurants in Banff. We came here for breakfast since its always good to try a classic. Its located on Lynx St near the Bear St Parkade. It resembles a huge log cabin with real high ceilings. They have flags from many countries decorating the ceilings along with some cool artwork. I ordered the Swiss Apple Pancake - impressive sized, soft and fluffy texture, and topped with cinnamon, maybe some brown sugar, and a lemon. It had a few small pieces of apple. Pretty decent pancake, though maybe I expected apples to be more prominent. Sweet enough that syrup isn't needed (4 stars) My wife got the crab and asparagus omelet. Pretty fluffy eggs and well seasoned omelet. Shredded potatoes were also seasoned well. I took a bite of the omelet and would rate it below Tooloulou's Crawdaddy omelet, since the latter seems more generous with the seafood fillings. Still, pretty decent omelet at Melissa's (4 stars). I would definitely say that Melissa's has much friendlier service than Tooloulou's. Our waitress Hanna was pretty nice. So on an overall Yelp star basis, I'd say they're both equal in terms of breakfast experience. 4 stars.

Yelp
Eggs Benedict was fantastic & the servers kept your coffee cup full!! Staff was very congenial.

Brittney J.

Yelp
Fantastic breakfast / brunch and mimosas! We ate here multiple times on vacation in September and found the service, food, and drinks to be amongst the best in Banff! Our waiter, Craig, was definitely a highlight of each visit - He was attentive, polite, and very generous with local advice for things to do & see during our time in Banff. The other waitstaff and hostess were similarly delightful and resourceful. Overall, Melissa's was a reliable delight for dining in Banff - no long wait times, no need for reservations, locally owned, and no doubts about the quality of the food (especially the "Big Breakfast"). 10/10, strongly recommend!

Yelp
So we thought it would be good to come here for dinner... big mistake.. We were celebrating a bday and an anniversary (which we put in the notes of our reservation...) From the beginning.. things were not right... The waitress didn't know what was in our cocktail that was on the menu...she was asking us if we wanted gin or vodka, and neither was in our drink... and an absolutely TERRIBLE Bloody Mary. The Prime Rib was definitely NOT how I ordered it... The wait staff was so kind, but behind the scenes in the bar and kitchen needed some help... No mention of our bday or anniversary.... Too bad..

Kerri B.

Yelp
JM was amazing today, he did an exceptional Job of anticipating our needs before we asked. food was fast and delicious. Definitely be back

Yelp
Loved the sirloin steak! Vegetables side could be better though Best to make a reservation. I just happened to arrive early so i got a table. By the time i finished, line was forming by their receiving area.

Yelp
During our time in Banff we went to Melissa's twice and had two TOTALLY different experiences. FIRST TIME: A Local told us to meet her at "Mel's" this awesome local's only dive with cheap beer and live music. So we took her up on it. The upstairs is my FAVORITE kind of dive. We drank cheap beer and played darts. The dart boards were in horrible condition - I don't recommend it. But they also have pool, and live music acts. A fun chill vibe. 3 stars. SECOND TIME: We looked up the best breakfast on Yelp and surprisingly Melissa's came up! All of the Aussie's were calling it Mel's. So we actually didn't even know this was the same place until we pulled up. The interior down in the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We opted for the big breakfast and the eggs benny. I will admit I was skeptical getting an eggs benny from such a down home place that was slammed but it was VERY good. You can get 1 egg or 2 which I've never seen before, that was nice. We got one and it was more than enough. Overall Melissa's is a staple in Banff, and a hometown favorite. Be sure to stop by for the benny and a late night beer if your'e in town.

Yelp
Interior has a ski lodge feel with lots of dark wood in what I would describe as vintage ski lodge style. Breakfast was good. I had the Veg Harvest Eggs Benedict which was not quite to my taste with an egg that was beyond soft. The boys had the Big Breakfast which seems like it might be the best bet. Extra charge for maple syrup fromthe U.S. was high enough to be a bit irksome. Waitress was wonderful....until she tried to rush us out by asking us to pay while 2 of the three of us were still actively eating. Not appropriate. Would I return? Maybe. Would I recommend? Sure. Its a decent skiers breakfast.
google avatar

Evelyn A.

Yelp
I've never had a steak at Melissa's but they do greasy breakfasts for big groups very, very well. I am a small woman, but I don't scare easily so I ordered The Big Breakfast. No, I couldn't quite finish it, but people happily shared my last two pancakes. Who doesn't love a pancake dessert? They don't take breakfast reservations, but the turnover is fast. Enjoy your eggs, Banff breaker!
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
We were sad to hear that the old location was closed the last time we visited Banff. Now, Melissa's is in a new location on Banff Ave and we have to say that even though the location and decor has changed, the unbelievable food and service has not. Casey, our server was very friendly and attentive, the steak was fabulous and the new location offers a ton more than the old place like pool tables and activities like Karaoke. So well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
FOOD: We went to Melissa's from a local recommendation for a good steakhouse. The staff showed us a case of the different cuts of the beef to help us order our food. But, we both didn't want to settle for anything else other than the prime ribs. And I was glad we didn't! The steaks were super tender, perfectly cooked and juicy. It also came with sourdough bread, yorkshire pudding, roasted veggies and a choice of baked potatoes, mashed potatoes or French fries. The sourdough bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside! The French onion soup was DELICIOUS! It had a strong onion flavour and melted swiss cheese yet without the acidic aftertaste that I sometime get from other restaurant. Though, I've never seen green onions in my French Onion Soup...could really use without them. ENVIRONMENT: The restaurant was built as a homestead hotel in the 30s so it had a rustic homey feel to its interior. There are two levels. We dined on the ground level and we could hear people screaming to sports upstairs. SERVICE: - Friendly and attentive. The staff chatted with us and gave us a lot of background on Banff and local attractions when she heard that we were from Toronto.

Yelp
Prepare some TUMS cause the sirloin steak I had was rock hard. Granted, I did have it medium well done but I've eaten at plenty of other restaurants where it was more edible than this. I couldn't even chew through the meat and only ate half. Wish I didn't eat the half cause I couldn't sleep at all with the indigestion I got. But other than that, everything was pretty good. Just couldn't really give them a better review because it's a steakhouse so I expect when I order a steak, I get a good one.

Yelp
Good food selectons at fair prices in very pricy Banff. Good service. Street parking. Off Banff Ave to the North three blocks. Older bathrooms. Good for groups. Locals eat here!
