Perfect petit café. My latte was perfect.👌 The flavour was rich. It was hot and it came with a heart. I tried a Blueberry-chocolate chip scone which was very good too. My friend had a cafe alongé with warmed milk, but she said mine was better.

Google
Great coffee and atmosphere. Very spacious. Knocked one star off for food because I haven’t tried their selection of pastries. Lovely place to work - very bright and plenty of sunlight with outdoor seating.

Good drinks & pasteries. We enjoyed the matcha latte, cappuccino, carrot cake & cherry lemon scone. About 25 seats. Gets quite busy and loud on a Saturday am.

Google
Really nice coffee shop with great iced oat latte and carrot muffin. Interior is beautiful and there is a cute sitting area outside too

Good coffee, chill vibes Love their carrot cakes as well yumm

Google
Allongé wasn’t bad, but everything bagel scone is not a good idea for afternoon, after-lunch snack. Raisin cookie was too sweet, compared to most sweet in local cafe in Montreal

This place gets crowded like the downtown location. It is much bigger though. The decaf soy latte I got here was much more roasted than the one I remember having downtown. There are about 11 tables or so to work from and a small front outdoor patio. It's cozy. The pastries here are bomb. They are not organic like the coffee is, but so good.

Google
I absolutely loved my time at MELK Cafe! The service was amazing, and the place is just adorable – the perfect little cozy spot. It’s also super kid-friendly, especially with those delightful macaroons! My kids shared a hot chocolate while I enjoyed a matcha latte, and we spent a lovely afternoon just hanging out together. I can't recommend MELK enough for a date night or a family outing – it’s truly a charming spot that everyone will enjoy!

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at MELK Cafe! The service was great, and the atmosphere is so cute - it really feels like a cozy little gem. It's also a fantastic place for kids, especially with their delicious macaroons! My kids enjoyed a shared hot chocolate while I savored a matcha latte. We spent a lovely afternoon together, and it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some treats. I would highly recommend MELK for a date night or a family hangout - it's got something for everyone!

Yelp
Lovely little cafe. Limited menus selections, but some fresh baked goods. Chia pudding, granola, several other options. Very tasty food, and good coffee selection. I had breakfast and chia pudding and very happy with the results. Counter service only

Yelp
Nice quiet place with good coffee and amazing scones. Banana scone was the best I've ever had, and they have a good selection of non-dairy alternatives. I went with a regular latte and wasn't disappointed.

Yelp
I just wish that some of the staff didn't make us feel like we are disturbing them when we try to order. Coffee is great, customer service not so much...

Yelp
If your walking through NDG and find yourself crazing code and a snack Melk is the place to be! Like many businesses on monk land the space is small and cozy but also has a great outdoor patio set up. Perfect for cold or hot weather. I was looking to get something seasonal and was happy to see a pumpkin scone. Needing a caffeine boost I wanted an iced latte, and with many non dairy options everyone can enjoy there menu. I also wanted to try a staple and on recommendation from the barista I ent with a scone. They have 3-4 flavours that rotate and the cranberry caught my eye. Nothing disappointed me and everything tasted like it had a lot of love thrown in. You will definitely see me here again !

Yelp
Best coffee any where. Especially the latte .scones are also amazing staff is very accommodating

Yelp
Very cute cafe. I had their turmeric latte with ginger. Wow that was amazing. Could have that EVERY DAY for sure. It was on the temporary menu but I hope it stays more long term. Place is nice and quiet. Perfect for conversation with a colleague or a chill meeting. Staff is super nice too. Will definitely return - despot the fact that the place isn't close to either my work or home.

Yelp
Had an hour or two to kill so decided to check out MELK after seeing the good reviews. I dropped by around 5:30pm on a Friday and had no trouble grabbing a seat. Service is friendly and fast. They were playing Sean Paul but switched it to jazz later on. Interesting mix of music. The inside is small but there's about 4 tables, 8 stools and 2 patio tables outside. They have coffee, tea, cold brew, matcha latte and even a kids drink menu. They sell beans from Parallel 49th (Vancouver) and Detour Coffee Roasters (Burlington). Some of their baked goods is made in house but they carry doughnuts from Trou de Beigne. - House lemonade ($3.04 large) - not too sweet and nicely refreshing. Perfect after my salty lunch of pho. Pretty chill spot that's not too hipster. I don't drink coffee so can't help you there but I liked the vibes here. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Tiny, busy, crowded place with a cool hipster vibe. Currently hidden by an eyesore of construction scaffolding, netting and tarps. They're still open during the construction. Enter through the ramp in the middle of the building then turn right and go all the way to the end, it will be on your left. Ordered a latte with vanilla flavoring (made in house) and the brownie cookie. The latte was weak in caffeine strength and I didn't enjoy the taste. It should have tipped me off when I smelled burnt coffee beans when I walked in. Their redeeming quality is their home made brownie cookie. It was more cakey than chewy like a brownie: rich chocolate flavour with just enough sweetness and very light in texture. Wouldn't return for their weak coffee. I would definitely come back for their fresh baked cookies, home made marshmallows and to try their non coffee drinks.

Yelp
This cafe is my new fav spot for recharging myself after a long day at work. When I got there, I noticed how cute the decor is and they put attention to details which is amazing. Ordered a vanilla latte and their delicious scones which looked so good from the display. Paid $8 for both of them which is reasonable. My latte was brought to me and I dipped my scone in the latte and it was such a relish. Their lanterns are so cute hanging on the wall and also the lady who made my latte was so sweet. I had a good time unwinding myself while having my scone and latte. They also have gluten free cookies as well as vegan food too. I'd surely return to this place in NDG as it's cosy and very cute. I always feel good to promote local products rather than branded as they really put so much efforts in making your day plus it's fresh.

Yelp
Melk is a short 5min walk from Villa maria metro station. They've got nice windows with lots and lots of sunlight, excellent coffee and choice of non-dairy milk, a yummy selection of regular and glutenfree pastries, comfy setting and chill music and, to top it off, in summer they put a couple of tables outside to enjoy the season! They've got it all!
google avatar

Yelp
Best coffee on Monkland, great service and ambience and good prices ! Their matcha latte is the best in Montreal (cold or hot) and their cold brew is solid, all their lattes are delicious and their scones savoury and sweet are to die for. This is my favourite coffee in Montreal :)

Yelp
Construction must affect the business; I had to detour to get in this café. Surprisingly, the café is semi full. In the front, there is an outside terrace with three tables; but the view is destroyed because of the construction. Inside is adorable, with few tables and chairs, and two tables by the wall and the window with high chairs. Overall it is pretty spacious. They have limited snack menu, but there is good long list of drinks (coffees, tea, water, juices). The service is excellent, if you are eating in, your drink is delivered to your table. I had South African rooibos tea, with perfect size lemon cake. Both simply delicious. Free Wifi! I am sure without the construction, this place is lovelier.

Yelp
Went there during a business trip, its a hidden gem with a great selection of coffee.

Yelp
If you are looking for a matcha latte go anywhere else but here! The matcha was so watery and mainly milk. No flavour and definitely not worth 5$. Save your money and drink water
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee spot in monkland. Coffee is really good and have non dairy options, moreover their pastries taste amazing
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
One of the better cups of coffee I've had in Montreal, and a nice little cafe in the area of my friend's Airbnb. He had a tea and it was served in a nice little container. My only real complaint was that there was no free or even discount coffee refill... someone else's Yelp review said they did, but I guess they were wrong.
google avatar

Stella L.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly service, very clean, lots of light, small but good selection of light lunches and some cookies, donuts, and muffins (Not peanut or nut free). My go to cafe in the neighbourhood!! Just beware, no free wifi!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Service was friendly and fast, and the coffee was excellent. Nice atmosphere in the cafe with lots of sunlight. My pineapple scone was quite tasty for the first few bites, but the middle was underbaked and gooey. When I brought it up to the counter they just gave me a fresh one. They didn't seem surprised so this could be something to watch out for.
google avatar

Cole S.

Yelp
Really lovely staff working at this place. They have a very nice selection of teas. Perhaps the largest I've seen anywhere in the West End. Also Some VERY tempting baked treats Had a very nice interaction with the gentleman working there that day and I shall indeed return!
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
I like this place. It's small, and has good lattes and baked goods. Would come back. Nice place to meet a friend for a coffee. I always like to support independent coffee shops.
google avatar

Yelp
Melk has been on my list for years and I finally had the chance to go there last weekend. It's a charming place and the staff is super friendly which is why I am giving them extra stars. Unfortunately their lattes aren't quite as great as I what I was expecting. The froth is key in lattes and it should be silkier and smoother. I probably got really spoiled with some amazing lattes at various coffee shops in the past and was hoping to have something similar. Either way, it's a cute spot and something different on Monkland than the big chains such as Starbucks and second cup.
google avatar

Javier V.

Yelp
Great place, good coffee and outstanding muffins, a little smaller than I thought but very good environment and friendly service.
google avatar

Leesa-Catherine S.

Yelp
Nice little place. Grabbed a macha latte and took it outside as there was no room to sit inside - it only has a few tables and some stools along the side of the place. Tables weren't set up so I sat on the steps of the building and enjoyed my drink. Nice staff, fair prices. I'll go back!

Yelp
Really cute cafe! Great relaxed atmosphere perfect for studying, reading, or catching up with some friends!! I got a cortado and a banana chocolate scone. The scone was very good, not too sweet, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My cortado was also pretty good. Creamy and light but a little too hot for me. Other than that, A+! Friendly service, good treats, good coffee and a relaxed environment. Awesome!
google avatar

Kristie N.

Yelp
This is a very cute cafe! It was my first time here and the barista was so friendly! He explained all of the drinks and pastries that they had. They have a variety of teas which is great! I decided to get the dark chocolate cranberry scone and a large filter coffee. All of the pastries are homemade and make sure to come early to get your pick on the baked goodies! They sell out fast! You can buy bags of beans here, 49 parallel!!! The cafe is pretty tiny and there isn't that much seating, so it's better to stop by for a quick coffee! Also my favourite thing about this cafe is that you can get a refill of the filter coffee! At the cafe or as you leave!
google avatar

Laury T.

Yelp
Bye bye Starbucks . I've never had such a good iced vanilla latte in my life. I got it with oat milk and it was lovely. They also have really tasty baked goods! Super nice little shop with amazing drinks.

Yelp
I took the metro to the suburb of Monkland to try the coffee from Melk Bar. Hmmmm. Today's roast was Sitio Serra from Brasil. A nice afternoon coffee/toast. A definite 9/10 for the coffee and 10/10 for the ambiance of this funky little place. The biscotti was good too.

Yelp
Location: Smack in the heart of Monkland village, right next to The Spice Station, The place: It's tiny but oh so cozy. Airy and bright, with a handful of seats, the vibe is super casual and comfortable. I can definitely see myself getting work done here. Judging by the volume of traffic that I saw going in and out of this place, I'm guessing it's a hit with the locals. And for good reason - it's the best coffee shop on Monkland and a fantastic change from the generic Starsucks and Second Cup. Service: Awesome. I went in to pick up some beans - these guys are one of the few coffee houses in Montreal that carry 49th Parallel (one of my favs). I don't think I was in there 5 minutes before someone came over to see me. The clerk was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the different types of roasts they had in stock. With her input, I selected my beans and asked her to grind them for me. Quick and simple. Coffee: Excellent Macchiato - on par with Olimpico. Price: Totally fair. The Macchiato was about $2 and the beans were $17 - slightly less than what they sell for at Myriade.

Yelp
Great place in a neighborhood that can use some more coffee shops. Coffee here is made with great roasters like parallel and detour. As a true nyc coffee snob i approve of this place, prices are avg and staff very friendly. Finally i can get good coffee without heading downtown or to plateau.

Yelp
This cute little coffee shop is one of my favourites. A hidden gem in NDG, they have a solid beverage menu and nice selection of baked goods. It has a laid back vibe but can get pretty hectic at peak times since the space is pretty small. I've yet to try their matcha latte but I hear it's a big hit. I had a regular latte, which was light and creamy, just how I like 'em, along with a delicious date and tamarind scone. They carry Canadian coffee roasters Detour and 49th Parallel, a big plus in my book.

Yelp
Stopped by MELK one morning on the way to visit my friend in NDG thanks to a saved bookmark on my Yelp app! MELK is a tiny, easy to miss, hobbit-like hole in a wall on Monkland that greets it's patrons warmly and graciously for their caffeine needs. I confidently ordered a cappuccino and received mine by the barista quickly. I truly felt like home here and would have loved to sit in and enjoy my order but time was short in supply... until I was about to pay and the lovely young lady was pulling out fresh raspberry muffins out of their oven and the smell took over all logical explanation and I asked if I could be seated instead. The barista's cappuccino was really good and the muffin hit the spot. All in all, for a few mere bucks, my day started great thanks to MELK, Bar A Cafe! Will come again!!!
google avatar

Annie A.

Yelp
Can't believe I didn't try this place sooner! Had a cappuccino made with coconut milk and a cranberry dark chocolate scone, both were delicious! The cappucino was a little strong for my taste but the staff happily added some extra steamed milk when I mentioned it. My husband had a vanilla latte which he swore was the best latte he's ever had, along with a cheddar cheese scone which was also to die for. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and I would go back in a heartbeat for a coffee fix. I especially appreciated that the scones are all made fresh in house.
google avatar

Iv A.

Yelp
Perfectly crafted cappuccinos and lovely small desserts and baked goods. Friendly staff, cute atmosphere, lovely spot for a quick date. I would definitely come back here for their biscotti and cafes.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this cafe on Monkland...best lattes in town!! Delicious sweets...they also sell trou de beigne donuts..yumm!
google avatar

Aimée M.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, great service and great spot to study! The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Jesenka S.

Yelp
I have been coming here daily for a latte. The service/coffee are amazing. Come early to avoid waiting in line outside due to Covid restrictions. The line does move fast.

Jeff T.

Yelp
If it weren't for a friend, I would have never came. This is like a hidden gem. This cute coffee shop is hidden on Monkland, a rather busy street. The place truly feels like your own home, very welcoming and warm. This is also a very good place to study and to hang out with friends. Will be coming again!
google avatar

Catherine D.

Yelp
MELK is my favorite coffee place in NDG and definitely in my top 5 in all of Montreal. Situated in the heart of the district, on the very well knows Monkland street, MELK is the best place to grab a great espresso drink to go or even to sit down and get some work done. I love their roasts and their baked goods are always really yummy. I also like sitting by the window on a rainy day and people watch.
google avatar

Risa D.

Yelp
Please put this at the top of your Monkland, heck all of NDG list. A quiet corner cafe with a sunny patio. A board that lists the daily brews so you can learn a little bit more each time about the dark deliciousness you mainline (or gracefully imbibe, if that's more your style.) Crazy good baked goods (I am not usually much for sweets, but I wanted to take the fresh Melk brownie cookies to bed with me.) Bags of 49th Parallel for sale. Beautiful, restful, work-friendly interior design. And most importantly: a dear and dedicated couple of owners, laughingly, passionately working their asses off to bring something acres better than Starbucks and Second Cup to the West. Wishing them huge success!
google avatar

Sanaya S.

Yelp
Great ambiance and amazing coffee. Artisanal style coffees with a number of milks to choose from. Great snack options as well. Would definitely recommend the scones. Such pretty latte art. Usually pretty crowded so might be hard to stick around and study but overall a great hangout spot in Monkland Village!
google avatar

Grant H.

Yelp
Oh NDG, you bewitching temptress. This newish café is such a nice addition to the hood. I maintain the position that there are VERY FEW good coffee spots here in Montréal (yes I'm a spoiled hipster snob from the west coast) and thankfully one. Is NDG. Melk bar offers a concise and clear coffee selection, 49th parallel beans, and a nice and extensive tea selection. Pour grignoter, they had scones, muffins and fluffy perfect donuts courtesy of trou de beigne. I had a nutella one and an apple cinnamon scone. Breakfast of champions. My cortado was well-pulled and tasty so I ordered a second. Thanks Melk bar, NDG is now no longer no damn good for coffee.
google avatar

Stephen Y.

Yelp
MELK - old Flemish word for milk, used in the Dutch language. This place brings a small part of Vancouver to me, selling beans from my favourite roasters, 49th parallel. They make some of the best espresso drinks in Montreal and you can see they are serious about coffee...because even when business is slow (which is rare) they're still expertly practicing their craft for that perfect pull. Some of the baked goods are created in store, such as the rhubarb square. I recently tried the smore's doughnut, and wow...delish. If you are dairy sensitive, they also can substitute cow milk for almond milk. Try their cortado....absolutely brilliant made with almond milk!
google avatar

Jane C.

Yelp
This place is a gem! The service is really nice, the espresso is delectable. What else do you want? And its on Monkland! Perfect on a sunny saturday morning!
google avatar

Betty E.

Yelp
Seriously the best cafe latte is at MELK. The temperature of the exquisitely foamed milk is perfect. Not too hot and not bland. Their coffee is always fresh and aromatic. Plus the latte art is picture worthy. I also can't resist their scones especially the feta cheese cumin one. To top it off, the staff is adorable. Although it's always packed, if you wait for 10-15 minutes, you can steal a seat.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
A favourite on monkland. Possibly my favourite mocha in town. Can be difficult to get a table as they are so very popular!
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
I had a great iced coffee here. They do cold press for their iced coffee, which always brings out the flavor. They serve Parallel coffee from BC. Although it is pretty small, they actually make pretty good use of space. I look forward to visiting again.

Kyle B.

Yelp
I travel a lot and try to make it a habit to visit different coffee shops. I travel all over the US and Canada, this coffee shops is in my favorites category. I highly recommend them, most definitely!!!
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Great place serving 49th parallel coffee from Vancouver. Sometimes tricky to get a seat though!
