Melrose Place is a wonderful place to stay — beautiful gardens, peaceful surroundings, and a very safe environment. The staff were amazing, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and offering help whenever needed. Sue was a fantastic host! I stayed at Melrose place while visiting my mom in South Africa for two weeks. From the moment you arrive the owner and the staff go out of their way for you. Being there in the winter, I had a gas heater in my room, and an electric blanket! Another big bonus is getting a wonderful breakfast in the morning, including muffins, eggs, yogurt, fruit, and a variety of beverages. Most importantly, I felt very secure with a electric fence surrounding the property, and wonderful, helpful security guards 24/7. If you are looking for a home away from home rather than staying in a hotel this is a place! I highly recommend Melrose Place! Fran Sher. Chicago

A delightful establishment in a safe, pleasant suburb in Johannesburg that is fine to walk around in daylight and close to restaurants at night. Rooms are spotlessly clean and lovely decor, even the windows are clean. Breakfast freshly prepared and tasty.

The staff and owner were extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and were very satisfied with the rooms and overall impression of the facilities. Loved the farm house feel of the rooms and decorations. We truly enjoyed our stay.   

I stayed for 10 days at Melrose Place and was very pleased with the experience. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, and the accomodations are impeccable. The location is very convenient, and the breakfast is delicious.

I recently stayed at a delightful guest lodge that I can’t recommend enough. Nestled within a garden of enormous, old, shady trees, the lodge feels like a peaceful haven. The property features a sparkling blue pool that’s perfectly framed by the dining hall—a beautifully decorated space with fine furnishings that exude elegance and charm. The rooms are equally stunning. Each one is tucked away in the lush gardens, offering a sense of privacy and quaintness. Inside, they are adorned with luxurious interiors and the finest linens, making your stay feel truly indulgent. The host and owner, Sue, is the heart of this place. Her warm hospitality is unmatched. Upon arrival, she poured me a glass of wine, and we had a lovely chat—it was like catching up with an old friend. Sue’s care and attention to detail extend to the food, which is absolutely divine. For lunch, we enjoyed roast beef and chicken with perfectly cooked butternut, spinach, and potatoes, followed by homemade apple pie for dessert. The meals are a testament to her passion for creating a memorable experience for her guests. To top it all off, the prices are incredibly reasonable for the level of luxury, comfort, and personal touch you receive. It’s truly a hidden gem.

We had an extended stay in South Africa and Melrose became our home away from home. Delicious breakfast everyday, clean rooms, and beautiful gardens. I would highly recommend! We felt very safe here with 24 hour security and the service was excellent. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.
