Memelas y Empanadas Clau

You want the “local” experience? sitting on the street on tiny chairs with a sail as protection from the street underneath you’re sitting and munching your memelas and empanadas. There are 3 ladies working non-stop with a hefty noteblock that registers all the orders. It’s always full, people are in line to eat their order or take there order. And it’s worth it. These ladies know what they’re doing. No thrills, no fuzz. Just quality street food. You better be in Oaxaca on a Sunday, because it’s only open then. Go, wait, try and enjoy! Won’t miss. Try the Flor de calabaza empanada, and any memelas will do.

I tried a memela with champiñones and queso, as well as an empanada verde — both were absolutely delicious. We were even given a free sample, which was such a kind gesture. Honestly, this was the best food I’ve had since arriving in Mexico.

The memelas and empanadas are amazing! So much flavour and so many options to choose from, I would recommend the empanada de cecina con queso!

Memelas are fantastic, ladies who prepare food are very nice. Price is better then other places. Memelas which include potatoes are my favorite.

Doña Clau no cocina solamente memelas. Cocina Arte. Sus salsa Verde es celestial. Y además te hace la plática lo único malo es que solo abre el domingo

Excelente servicio y auténtico sazón oaxaqueño, abren únicamente el día domingo de 7 de la mañana a 4 de la tarde.

Todo es delicioso, en especial las memelas de papa con chorizo, son mis favoritas y mi familia disfruta mucho las empanadas de amarillo y de verde. 😋

Precios económicos y sabor casero muy recomendable.
