MEMO Modern Italian

The food was inedible. The eggplant parm couldn't be cut with a knife or my teeth and had no flavor. The ingredients described on the menu were not what was in the food. The noise level was so loud that we couldn't hear the waiter. No bread is served with the meal. The beef shortribs and tortellini were very good however. The whole experience was very disappointing. And expensive. Won't be back.

This place has such potential, but unfortunately falls flat. I can’t speak for the whole menu, because we didn’t get past one drink and appetizers, but from what we could tell, it wasn’t going to get any better. The meatballs were good, nothing bad there, but the focaccia had the consistency of a roll, and none of the elements of actual focaccia, as you can see from the picture. I had a Black Walnut Old Fashioned that tasted like 50% bitters, the worst bourbon I’ve ever had, and exactly no sugar or water. My wife had the Ciao Bella. Both were so bad that we couldn’t even drink half of them. So, besides the meatballs, it was a total dud. To top it off, my wife went to the restroom before we left and they were completely out of toilet paper, so it was a fitting end to a $60 dinner that we couldn’t even finish. I’d say save your money and find another place.

We had: Pizza - it was on the specials menu, so availability is unknown. Pear reduction, goat cheese, arugala.The pizza was good and I will def see if their pizzas can handle the takeout cool down and still be good. Another of their specials - sage butternut squash soup. Delicious! (I used pizza crust to mop up the last bits). The asparagus side dish. It was grilled and smokey, which is a great way to cook it. Brussel sprouts - they were not the best. Air fried, I believe and maybe only to reheat. The recipe they use does not include a balsamic glaze or vinegarette - which is needed to oppose the charred taste. I will pass on these unless they change the recipe.

I wanted to share a good review because there seem to be so many bad ones. We really enjoyed ourselves. Bottle of wine, charcuterie board, small pizza. Service was great. Food was great. They were very busy and because of that very noisy. Just be aware of that. I wouldn’t call Memo a quiet/romantic type of place.

I ❤️Memo! It’s my favorite neighborhood restaurant. They have their pasta made fresh and it is outstanding. My faves are the pasta Carbonara and the Burrata Pasta. They do have great pizzas too and a fantastic pork chop and chicken Parmigiana. Great Food, great service, and on Wednesdays it’s half off bottles of wine 🍷, which is Win for me! I Highly recommend this restaurant.

I can't tell you how glad I am that there are some grumpy folks who left some petty reviews about some silly things here. Maybe they had a chef issue a few months ago, I don't know. However, I am glad that there are some negative reviews here, because I don't want the place to be jam-packed whatever I want to go. Because, for me, it was excellent. I started with the limoncello spritz, which was a really big glass of a very refreshing not too sweet cocktail that I nursed through my whole meal. I ordered the meatballs with the marinara pesto and the ricotta, which were delicious and very fresh tasting. Based upon that, I ordered the carbonara (with tempered expectations anyway). It's almost impossible to get carbonara out anywhere that is truly authentic, and this one wasn't either. That said, it was very close and it was delicious if a smidge salty. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly Al dente. Some places make it so you have to have a wrestling match with the pasta, not here. A nice bite. It's 10 minutes from my house and it's exactly what I've been looking for. And if it's not your cup of tea good 😊

Overall the food itself wasn't bad. However, shrimp is an extra $12 and scallops is $14. Which is fine... except the plates came out with just three shrimp and TWO scallops. When we asked the waiter about the scallops (because we thought no way that could be right) he just said "yeah that's the way it is, if you want more scallops each one will be $7"... The waiter forgot about us a few times while the restaurant was empty and also forgot my side completely. The espresso martini was awful and the service overall was below subpar. Again, food itself wasn't horrible but definitely not worth it for the pricetag

We visited Memo this evening and had a wonderful experience. We sat at the bar Matt was our bartender he was very attentive and made great drinks. We had two appetizers from the happy hour menu. We always have a great experience and love the atmosphere! Keep up the good work.

I came here for dinner and brunch. I discovered this restaurant going for a walk around the neighborhood and was like a new spot! For dinner I got the short ribbed tortellini and a limoncello spritz that was on their happy hour menu. The tortellini was great! I also got a side Cesar salad as a starter. For the brunch I opted for their short ribbed gnocchi skillet with over-hard eggs. I got the limoncello spritz again. The food has been great but one thing that needs improvement is the service. It's pretty slow. I am not sure if it's because it is connected to the Mexican restaurant next door or not. In addition we had to ask about their specials like happy hour so they were not that forthcoming with it too. We had to ask for a lot of things that should have been a given with a server and with the restaurant not being full. I understand they just reopened with this new concept so patience is needed. Other than that minor issue, I will be back because the food was good and they have great specials.

Came here on Saturday for lunch. It's a new spot, so wanted to try. It was pretty empty. We were seated right away and were given menus. Place is pretty dark and has a huge area for the bar seating. But overall seating area is not very large. They have a huge list of drinks but when we asked if they can do any virgin cocktails, we were told only mojito or margarita. We had mojito which was pretty decent. We asked for water and she brought only one glass which was so weird; why do we need to share water? We ordered watermelon salad, chicken piccata and Brussel sprouts. Watermelon salad arrived first, and it was pretty small, seemed like half of the normal portion. It was very average, nothing special. Chicken piccata was absolutely horrible. It was swimming in some thick, fatty sauce with capers and artichokes. The sauce was pretty terrible, super salty and definitely not your usual piccata. Also it was super expensive. Brussel sprouts arrived after the salad but before the chicken. It was supposed to be a side dish for the chicken not another appetizer, so it was confusing why it arrived before the main course. It didn't taste very good, was overly fried and had no sauce. We asked for a sauce and they brought some Thai sweet sauce which is pretty weird at an Italian restaurant. Overall pretty bad food and really overpriced. It should I be half the price for what we got. Definitely wouldn't come back and if you decide to go, just order pizza. We didn't try it but I assume it would be halfway decent.

Rating: 3.5 stars Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, it took over 45 minutes to get the food we ordered. My bolognese was delicious but a little overpriced, and the online price was lower than the price they actually have on the menu. The breakfast flatbread, according to my brother, was good but not great. Portion was large though! My dad ordered two sides and mixed them which he said was delicious. The main deduction was for the slow service and prices that were a bit too high, but it's worth a shot if you're looking for Italian food in this area.

What an incredible dinner! Both the service and the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the squash blossom special, which I highly recommend. Different Italian cheeses, stuffed in a squash blossom and tempura fried. I ordered the chicken Milanese, which is not on the menu but they were able to do it. They accidentally brought me out a chicken Parm, which was delicious and then sent me home with the other even though I said that was unnecessary and the chicken Parm was delicious Lisa insisted. Lisa is a doll. I highly recommend her! We also ordered the lasagna rotolo and the white pizza. Both highly recommended! With the quality of food and service being so unreliable at restaurants these days it was a refreshing dining experience and I cannot wait to return.

Yes, I've been back already and I'm going to update my review with additional things I liked and disliked. I'm pretty sure last time I didn't get an entree sized salad. This time it was a normal plate size and I opted for chicken instead of shrimp. I didn't expect to like the chicken as much as I did. I've been making a lot of chicken at home and sometimes when I eat out it tastes dry. Here it didn't. It's grilled, you could see the grill marks on it, and it was super tender. I would definitely get the chicken caesar again and make sure I loudly say please make it an entree size. I tried the octopus appetizer and I wasn't a huge fan. It was tender, but the sauce seemed off. It tasted a little too vinegary. I will skip that next time. I still loved the chicken marsala and the pasta that comes with it. The watermelon basil drink is still a favorite of mine. We came for a friend's birthday and they gave her a complimentary huge cookie with ice cream for dessert. I thought that was a great touch. Our server was May (sp?) and she was a delight. Definitely request her if you want great service!

Service was terrible! The waiter didn't realize we were seated for At least 20 minutes, at which time I had to call his attention, to make it worse was the place was barely busy. Once the order was taken they brought the entree before the appetizer. I witness a kitchen employee use the men's room and exit WITHOUT washing his hands, as I walked past the kitchen I saw the same individual working in the kitchen. Needless to say we quickly paid the bill and left. We left the food on the table. Very disappointed!

Overall I think this restaurant has a lot of potential! I think it's important to mention I went here within the first few months of it opening and likely they are still ironing out some wrinkles. Out of all the food I had the best was the Birria pizza with consommé sauce it was so unique and DELICIOUS and salmon was seared to perfection. The sauces could be better curated. The service was excellent and the servers and management were very friendly and made a difference in the experience. On the weekends late night they have a DJ and that definitely creates a nice weekend vibe.

This restaurant was overall good. Our waitress was extremely friendly and was enthusiastic about the menu. Staff was very attentive and tended to every request we had. We went for dinner so the restaurant got quite dim inside but each table had its own lamp which was nice and provided intimate lighting. The food was delicious. All of our appetizers came out fast and had so much flavor. The penne alla vodka tasted like pasta with red sauce to me. (I think I could've made it better) overall good restaurant with friendly staff!

Had a wonderful experience at Memo last evening! Had low expectations with the other reviews, but was pleasantly surprised! Wonderful food and fast service. Local neighborhood charm. We especially loved the italian sausage. Will return again soon!

Great food. Great service Have been back 3x. Not disappointed and will definitely go back again Have had several dinners including Chicken Marsala, Braised Beef Tortellini and The Pepperoni Pizza All of them were very good

I wanted to love it the second time after the first "iffy" experience but, despite the cool vibe, the risotto was crunchy and the scallops were blah. Server did take scallops off the tab but I would prefer to pay for a nice dinner any time. Disappointed again.

We have been back to Memo several times, the food is still amazing, and the service was on point! The service was fantastic and the music from across the street made it a great experience!

We had a reservation but stood at the front for about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Finally got sat but she didn't check us in for our reservation thru open table... then we sat there for 12 minutes without any interaction, water - we got nothing. So we got up and walked out The atmosphere was kind of weird too, it looks like they're mid construction on a side restaurant to the left when you walk in so there's open dry wall, unfinished flooring, etc Would not recommend

After only one visit this was my wife's favorite restaurant. After a few more, it became mine as well. I cannot express how amazing the food and staff here are. They really put a lot of effort into every meal and customer. On a night they knew we were coming, they actually surprised us by reserving our favorite table. We have tried about 10 different menu items and have not once been disappointed. The owner goes above and beyond to make sure we and every customer enjoy the full experience. The atmosphere is fantastic both inside and out. 10 out of 10, every time.

Elevated Italian restaurant! Great drink specials daily! Beautiful drink menu! Lively bar atmosphere! Flavorful, beautiful food! The focaccia was so fluffy and flavorful paired with a beautiful chopped salad! Looking forward to going back!

We visited again and had great service. Nice to see the team improving and focusing on customer experience. The food was good and the drinks were well made .

The bolognese, beef tortellini were fantastic. Fresh, delicious and unforgettable. Danielle was great! She will be our requested server in the future. Dining pleasure, oh the cocktails were another added delight.

Tuesday night, 5 tables occupied and 4 couples at the bar. Service was good. I had the Veal Parmasean wife had the Cannelloni. Veal was very good, 2 large cutlets with pasta, had to take half home. Wife said hers was good but only one Cannelloni which for the price was skimpy. Weird the difference between the two. Now this may be where the "Modern Italian" comes in. No bread for the table. There was Focaccia as an appetizer for $6. Saw one table order it but sent it back for some reason. No S&p on the table. Had to ask for grated cheese, was given a thimble size. Understand this is a fairly new restaurant so I'll cut them some slack and will try again in a few months to see if there are improvements.

Food and service were both good Newly redecorated food was good but threw me a piece of bread with my entree

I've dined here twice now and the food is absolutely incredible. I brought my family visiting from out of state here and while we did an entire restaurant tour of Tampa during their stay they said this was their favorite meal. The pasta bolognese is the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this adorable Italian restaurant.

Ate at Memo last night for the first time. Saturday night at 6:30 OpenTable reservation. Place is beautiful with seating at bar, hightops and tables. Typically Italian restaurants do OK with quality. There are so many. Our food was well above average and a nice surprise. Somebody in the kitchen is paying attention to what goes out to diners. Had an app, Prawns Puttanesca. Really good! Two entrees, Gnocchi's Di Patate and Cannolonni (Sp?). both very good. Go there!

Had an amazing time! Bartenders were amazing and very attentive. Food was delicious and the ambiance was cozy. I highly recommend the Mushroom Risotto! It was delicious!

The streak of bad restaurants in this location continues. Italian food that looks like it was prepared by someone who has never had Italian food. Looked like it came from a box. Service was very efficient and friendly. The picture is what the Carbonara looked like right from the kitchen before we touched it. I'm not sure what it even was but the presentation made it that much worse. The first picture is what we were served. The second picture is what carbonara should look like. No resemblance.

When we walked in we were standing in front of the host stand for a few minutes. The hostess and server were talking and laughing, obviously ignoring us standing there. The food and drinks here were delicious, but our server was extremely rude as well. I received a coupon for a buy one get one free entree on Facebook. Everything was fine until we went to use the coupon. The server was already visibly annoyed when I mentioned it. I clicked to activate the coupon and handed her my phone to put it in the computer. She came back to our table, rudely reprimanded me for clicking the coupon too early, and told me that her manager was now mad at her because of it. I apologized and she rolled her eyes at me, grabbed my phone and stormed off to "see what she could do". When she came back with the check, she had circled the discount and acted like the whole situation was a hassle. I work in the hospitality industry, and would never treat a customer like this. To top it all off, when we left I smiled at the hostess and she rolled her eyes and went back to what she was doing. We felt very unwelcome here and will not be returning.

Food was okay. My eggplant parm was over cooked, another said her chicken was dry. I asked the waitress for parm and red pepper. She repeated it and never brought the red pepper. Sometimes she was no where to be seen. Will try one more time. Hope they figure things out.

The service and cocktails were good. The food was overpriced and tasteless. Rigatoni bolognese had a watery tasteless sauce with very little meat. The gnocchi was overcooked and cold. The Cesar salad had a watery dressing with little Parmesan cheese. The chicken wings were undercooked.

Servers are nice but other servers at this restaurant are much better & experienced. Tonight's service was not good. It wasn't that busy so there is no excuse. Received a lemon drop martini with a salt rim. Oops! But my waiter never came back to ask how everything was. I would have told him. I wiped off the salt and still had it. Not the end of the world. Great place to drop in and have a couple of cocktails and appetizer. Food presentation is very good and food is tasty. I've been here 3 times before and the food is either over cooked or just fine. Ambiance is nice. Definitely worth trying to form your own opinion. Hope they learn & get better because it's a great location in Westchase & Waterchase.

Our waitress, Lisa, was awesome! Attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be back.

Nice food and experience! Had a birthday brunch there and I received a complimentary tiramisu that was AMAZING! My mouth is watering now just thinking about it, lol.

Jamie was the best bartender! 10/10 recommend Will be returning just to pay her a visit. The food was also amazing.

What a pleasant experience at Memos tonight. Jamie made me the perfect Cucumber basil gimlet and my bolognese with sausage and meatballs was fantastic. Nice to have a quality local spot.

Food was terrible and overcooked and music is too loud and started noticing how dirty the restaurants were every time i drive by the place there's dirty dishes in the patio even after they close and before they open and even inside this shows how careless the restaurant is!!! wasn't like this a couple months ago now they are getting lazy at this point even the employees are on their phone all the time and would ignore me and my family when we would ask them a question TERRIBLE service!Never coming back again!

Service wasnt on par. I asked for grated parm and red pepper for my pasta. She repeated it and never brought the red pepper. She grated the parm all over the table. The check offered a cash discount which I paid in cash. The change didnt reflect the discount. The bill wasnt in the envelope either when I received the change. My eggplant was also over cooked. Most of the other dinners were okay. The chicken marsala was also over cooked. The restaurant was empty Sunday. Not sure what else would have gone wrong if it was busy.

The service, decor, and food are a significant improvement over the previous restaurant Catch. Have visited multiple times since it opened and we have enjoyed all of our visits.

Service was wonderful. Food even better. I came to go to catch 23, but it is no longer. Now Memo modern Italian. Food was so good. Great restaurant find. Will definitely return.

I paid $80 something dollars for a small salad one tentacle of an octopus, an appetite spritz. a glass of Kim Crawford advertised at 15 when it was really 18 another glass of white wine advertised at 15-17 something when it was really 22! They needed up charging me an extra $15 in drink prices. I'm not sure if the server took the liberty of assuming I wanted a 9 ounce pour but the price difference between the 6/9 is too insane for that to be the case. I've been a server bartender for 10 years so I don't like to leave these reviews but service was very slow due to two people working. It took me eating my entire meal for my second glass of wine to come out. Maybe don't have two people alone on a Sunday who can't handle it. The server was polite and apologized and smiled but offered no help when I realized I was over charged. Probs she got her $18 tip so who cares I get it girl but damn. Won't be going back or recommending this place. Can't trust the prices are right. I'm sorry but there drinks and two SMALL apps= $80?!? Save your money. And I was serving here I'd find a better place to work. Sorry.
